Well, Colin's name got chosen long before I started Hio! I began writing HP related fanfic and Colin and Liam were the brothers I was writing about. (These are Colin's Uncle Colin and his Da!)

To be honest, I was one of those who came to Hio not really aware that it's set in the present day (and obviously I didn't Headmaster Lear's welcome letter that thoroughly! ) so I reckoned I could just continue writing the elder Colin's story.

Welp. That didn't work out, so, I just kept the name and began focusing on the next generation!

As for Colin's middle names --- those are all astrologically and spiritually meaningful. Maybe some day someone will figure out the meanings!

Ezra = to help
Kincaid = battle leader

They all play into his long term plot

See, I knew if I tried making a whole new character for the site, I probably wouldn't be anywhere near as invested with them as I am with Emily.

Story ideas will forever morph and fade for me, but I never like abandoning characters. Even a name (Like Emily Shepherd-Hardy!) means that I was kind of onto something before! And that's where I was with Emily before joining. The story I had in mind for her may have been a bust (until it evolves into something better for a newer protagonist!) but I cared about Emily too much to ditch her too.

So here we are!
