A firm reminder about AI in Homework

Certain users have been persistently using AI in assignments, unfairly adding increased work to the staff, undermining the fairness of the system and frankly being dirty cheaters. We have grown fatigued with this behavior and will start enacting harsher penalties on users that persistently use AI to complete assignments that can culminate in a community ban.

We understand that there is a difference between the user using a translator service, which can occasionally ping as AI and can work with you. We are sorry that not all community members are honest, increasing the burden and difficulty you experience in the community.

We have updated a site rule regarding items that used to read:

15.) You Need to Own ItIf you are roleplaying that you are using a potion item, a magical item that we sell in the shop, a specific sort of broom, you need to own (and have) the item in your inventory. This means that you need to purchase the item with your hard-earned galleons.

In order to provide some clarification on the fact that you need certain items in your inventory to roleplay with them, while some items are just in shops for flavor, we have updated the rule to now be:

18.) Not All Items Are Created Equal

Hogwarts.io offers many shops located in forums that allow for collecting, trading between players, and in-character benefits. You are free to claim your character owns an item marked with a star (★) at the end of its name. Items like food and drinks are available in shops, but you can roleplay that you have those food and drinks without actually buying them.

However, if an item is unmarked (examples include spells, potions, a magical item that we sell in the shop, a specific sort of broom), then you need to own (and have) the item in your inventory. This means that you need to purchase the item with your hard-earned galleons.

You may also create "mundane" and "mundane magical" items for your character. Mundane items are non-magical items that have no direct (magical) effect on your character or others such as clothes, sweets, drinks, etc. Mundane magical items do not give a player an advantage such as the ability to godmod, have abilities they did not apply for, or access to spells/potions they do not know/have. Enchanted cabinets, self-cleaning dishes, charmed rings to reflect your mood are all fair game.

The Granian Derby summer camp event is now OPEN

Come participate in the Granian Derby hosted at the London Quidditch Stadium at summer camp on August 21st. Watch as eight fresh Granian racehorses make their debuts into their racing careers. Our two graduation events are live! Set IC during the last two days of school, there is one event open to all and another event for graduating students only:

29 June - a Graduation Ceremony set during lunchtime, which is an open thread for both graduates and students who wish to celebrate them. Click here to join! (Note: incoming first years be aware that this is set at the end of last school year, so your character would not be there!)
30 June - In the morning, all students will be heading to the train station in Hogsmeade. There is a graduates-only boat ride event hosted by our Caretaker Avery Phineas Finch. Click here to join!

• The first Derby moderation is coming soon! Stay tuned to see how your favourite horse is faring.
• Sign-ups for Place a Bet are closed. You can still post and claim that your character bet on a horse of your choice, but will not receive any tickets for it.
• Sign-ups for Show Off Your Hat are open until the end of moderation! Describe your fancy Derby hat and gain 70 Prize tickets.

AMORTUNNEL BLIND DATE NIGHT

• The Blind Date Night at the Amortunnel ride is currently in preparation
• Sign-ups are closed, we are working on the matching so everyone gets their perfect date!
• The Amortunnel ride itself is open every day for you to use in your private threads - this event is only for blind dates! (Blind in character of course - OOC sign-ups with partner will be respected as promised.)

CARNIVAL GAMES

• The Carnival Games are open! No sign-ups necessary, just hop in, snatch some snitches, pull Godric's Sword from a stone, and ride a Basilisk for some easy Prize Tickets!
