Transferring To & From Hogwarts Now Available!

The iNPC team is pleased to announce that Hogwarts has finally signed the International Magical Education Exchange Accord - aka, you can finally transfer your students to and from Hogwarts! This means that from now on you will essentially be able to swap your PC and iNPC accounts so that the character you had originally created to be an iNPC can now go to Hogwarts and become your PC, while the character you had originally created as your PC can now go to an international school and become your iNPC. When you transfer accounts, this happens simultaneously (e.g. you can't have both accounts go to Hogwarts, even for a short while).

This change is separate from transferring iNPCs between international schools, which was already announced and can be read about here. Instead, this change can be read about and applied for here, in a different thread.
FAQs:
Reducio
Below are some frequently-asked questions that may help you with deciding if you would like to transfer to or from Hogwarts. If you have a question not found or answered below, please reach out to someone on iNPC staff to ask your clarification.
How often can I swap accounts?
You must wait until six months after the creation of your iNPC, as well as six months after your iNPC last transferred schools, if they have transferred before, to swap accounts. You are limited to three account swaps over the course of your characters' school career. This is separate from the three iNPC school swaps you also get, so if you want to swap accounts three times and transfer your iNPC to different international schools three times, you are welcome to as long as you wait six months between each.

Are there any other restrictions to when I can apply for a swap?
Yes. You cannot transfer when either of your characters is participating in an official sport event for their school, and you will need to wait until after the sport event has concluded. For example, if your PC is on a House broom racing team and you apply to swap accounts during the spring races, then you would need to wait until the race has fully concluded to transfer, and your application would be closed until then.

I want both of my students to go to the same school! Can this be done?
No. You must have a PC account (that goes to Hogwarts) and an iNPC account (that goes to an international school). You cannot have two accounts that go to Hogwarts, two accounts that go to the same international school (i.e. two students at Tenūsa), or two accounts that go to different international schools (i.e. one at Koldovstoretz and one at Durmstrang). One account must attend Hogwarts (this will be known as your PC account) and the other must attend an international school (this will be down as your iNPC account). When one account transfers in this manner, the other will swap out at the same time so that you never have two of the same kind of account.

What if I don't want to have my character move to [x country], but I want to have them move to [x school]?
The schools will not be changing their requirements to cater to you. If you want to attend Mahoutokouro, you must live in Japan. If you want to attend Castelobruxo, you must live in Central/South America (or North America/the Caribbean, by application only). You cannot live in the UK and attend Uagadou, for example; what school you attend is based on where you live, so if you do not want to change your student's residence, you cannot change their school. You must have your student move in order to state that they have transferred.

Can I bring my PC's pet with them if I transfer my old PC to an iNPC school?
Yes. Now that iNPCs have their own sub-accounts, they are able to have pets just like PC accounts, so your current PC will not have to lose their pet if they swap to being your iNPC at an international school. This is an automatic process, so you do not have to do anything extra for it.

Can I undo the transfer if I change my mind?
No. Once approved, you'll need to wait six months if you wish to swap your accounts back.

Can I immediately swap my old PC/new iNPC to a different international school if I change my mind?
No. Once approved, you'll need to wait six months if you wish to start another transfer for your new iNPC to attend a different wizarding school.

If I swap my iNPC to being my PC and bring them to Hogwarts, can I change what House they were originally sorted into on their sub-account?
No. Whatever House your iNPC was Sorted into upon creation of the sub-account is the House they will be Sorted into upon their transfer to Hogwarts. If you are unhappy with this House, either A) don't swap them to Hogwarts or B) roleplay their disappointment at not being in the House they wanted. You cannot switch Houses.

How did my old iNPC get to Hogwarts and get Sorted into a Hogwarts house if they didn't transfer in September?
If your old iNPC/new PC transferred over the summer (July-August) and would start school on Sep. 1 with the rest of the population, you are free to post in the year's Sorting thread and state that they rode the Hogwarts Express and were Sorted in front of the whole school with the new first-years. However, if your old iNPC/new PC transferred at any other point during the school year (Sep 2 through the end of June), your student would have arrived in Hogsmeade on the Mystic Pullman, where a staff member would have been waiting to pick them up and escort the student to the headmaster's office for a private Sorting. Afterwards, the student would have been taken to their new common room. This does not mean you can godmod Lear, however - if you would like to write your iNPC being sorted and mention him or any other staff member, you must reach out for permission.

If I swap my iNPC to being my PC and bring them to Hogwarts, can I automatically land my same spot on the sports team in my new House as the spot I had back in the iNPC school previously? For instance, I was a first-string Chaser back at [x school], can I be a first-string Chaser for [x House] now?
No, unless there is a spot open. The waitlists for sports will remain first-come, first-served at Hogwarts and at iNPC schools. When you transfer from an iNPC school to Hogwarts, you will have to manually go to your new House forum and sign up for whatever sport spot you want, whereupon you will be added to the waitlist and have to wait your turn. If there is a spot open, though, sure, you can go sign up immediately and be added, but it's still your responsibility to sign up for it. When you transfer from Hogwarts to an iNPC school, however, put your desired sport spot in the form and you will be put in the sport if there is a spot open (and, if not, you will be added to the waitlist; see below).

Can both of my characters keep their sports spots when they transfer to the new schools?
Your new PC (transferring TO Hogwarts) cannot. You have to go manually sign up to your House’s waitlist for whatever sport you would like them to play; we will not auto-add you to the House waitlist. However, your new iNPC (transferring AWAY from Hogwarts TO an international school) can be auto-added to a school’s team (or waitlist if the desired spot is not open) as long as you specify in the form above what spot you want them to take. TLDR: new PC no, new iNPC yes if there is a spot open.

If I transfer my PC to being my iNPC and send them to an international school, can I automatically land my same spot on the sports team in my new school as the spot I had back at Hogwarts previously? For instance, I was a first-string Chaser back at Hogwarts, can I be a first-string Chaser for [x school] now?
Yes, as long as there is a spot open. The waitlists for sports will remain first-come, first-served at Hogwarts and at iNPC schools. When you transfer from Hogwarts to an iNPC school, you put your desired sport & position in the transfer form. If there is a spot open, you will be added to the iNPC school sport's roster immediately upon your transfer being approved. The process is only immediate for the Hogwarts->international pipeline; when transferring from an international->Hogwarts, you have to manually sign up for a sport waitlist yourself (see above question).

How does this work with me being in the Index/being on an iNPC school roster?
When your swap is approved, your old PC (aka your new iNPC) will automatically be removed from the Official Index and added to the iNPC school roster for your new international school. Your old iNPC (aka your new PC) will also be automatically removed from your old international school roster. However, the new PC will not be added to the Official Index automatically; this is the only bit of work you have to do yourself (other than applying to a Hogwarts sport, if desired; see above for that process). To be added to the Official Index as your new PC, you must apply in the Index Re-Application thread by yourself and link the approved swap post in your Index application; only then will your new PC be added to the Official Index.

What do I have to do now?
Your next step, once you have been approved to swap PC/iNPCs, is simply to update your PC and iNPC to reflect their new schools (e.g. in their encyclopedia). Then you will need to go to the Index Re-Application link here and apply to have your PC be re-indexed; make sure you link to your approved swap post in your Re-Indexing application. Afterwards, you are free to RP your new PC and new iNPC as you choose!

Forum Organization Updates

We’ve made several updates to the forum’s structure today to improve accessibility, streamline navigation, and enhance the user and staff experience. Below is a summary of the changes:

1. Sport Lockers Relocated
To address display issues on smaller screens and ensure better visibility across all devices and browsers, all sport lockers have been temporarily moved to the Grounds.

This is not necessarily a permanent change — a vote is currently ongoing among team captains to determine their final location. Once a decision is made, we will announce any further adjustments.

2. New Category: Site Information
We’ve created a new main category titled Site Information to house important reference material. The following forums have been relocated under this new category:
  • Announcement Board
  • Site Master Updates
  • Site Rules
  • Technical Support
  • FAQ & Staff Requests
  • Setting Lore
  • Timeline
  • Team List
This consolidation will help new and returning members easily locate essential information about the site and its operation.

3. New Forum Area: Staff Requests
To improve efficiency and reduce errors, we've introduced a Staff Request section. This new space consolidates several frequently used request threads that were previously scattered, including:
  • Deactivation Requests
  • Pet Applications
  • Discord Access Requests
  • Other Staff Actions
Additionally, internal admin request threads have been consolidated to reduce forum patrol time and minimize oversight on the staff side.

Thank you for your patience and continued support as we make the site more navigable for all players. If you have questions about these changes, feel free to reach out.

The Library Found Its New Guardian

Image

Please welcome our new Librarian, Edith Alarie, who will be played by Nabi Park. Nabi has shown her good ethical work when she became a prefect. Her contribution in succeeding the transition project is also notable. She will continue her work as a Librarian and put more interesting ideas into her new role.

This also means a goodbye to Mateo Sáez, who we also know as Pax Zhang. We thank Pax for their contribution as Librarian and for their notable works for the previous NaNoWriMo. We hope to see Pax around in non-staff capacity, continuing their work as Gryffindor Quidditch Captain and writing with their characters.

Class of 2025 Yearbook
With the upcoming graduation of our seventh years, a yearbook thread has been posted in the shelves of the library! All pending graduates are welcome to post and have a dedicated page for their student. For more details, check out the thread here: viewtopic.php?t=39251
Upcoming Graduation Events
As with last year, the Headmasters and Heads of House are putting together a couple threads geared around the upcoming graduation of 2025. To avoid conflicting dates, here is the overview of the threads:

29 June - a Graduation Ceremony set during lunchtime, which will be an open thread for both graduates and students who wish to celebrate them
30 June - in the morning, all students will be heading to the train station in Hogsmeade. There will be a graduates-only boat ride event hosted by our Caretaker Avery Phineas Finch. There will also be a final farewell at the train station set immediately after the boat ride.

There will be another announcement with links to these three two threads once they are ready!

What’s Happening on July 1st?
There’s a lot of deadlines coming up on July 1st, and this announcement is here to summarize what you need to know:
  • If you want house points for past year homework, they must be submitted before July 1st. July 1st onwards marks no more house points for past year homework. (Note: as long as the homework is submitted before July 1st, it will get house points. It might be graded after July 1st, but you will still get points)
  • iNPC sub account spells, potions and stat point claiming must be done before July 1st. You can apply for your iNPC account after July 1st, but to claim your PCs spells/potions/stats, you must apply before July 1st.
  • iNPC sub account for users under 6 months must be applied for before July 1st. July 1st marks the resumed expectation of being on your PC for 6 months before being applicable for an iNPC sub account.
  • PC spells and potions mistakes. You need to put in an update post before July 1st in order to claim any spells/potions that may have been missed during the transition project. It’s your responsibility to make sure you received all of the correct potions/spells by that date.
  • If you intend to graduate, you need to have applied for index before July 1st. If you do not wish to be graduated this year, you need to reach out to your Head of House before July 1st. July 1st is the day of graduation. This is a manual process done by site admin, so users should expect it to take a couple of days to get to everyone.
  • You must request to remove your prodigal/restricted ability before July 1st if you no longer want them because of the update. If you have not applied to remove before July 1st, you are keeping it knowing the new ability descriptions.

Effective immediately Gargamel Starwise will no longer be teaching Astronomy. According to Professor Starwise's letter of resignation, Professor Starwise was moving to Australia to work at the University of Queensland. The reason being, "Hogwarts children are off the rails."

The Ministry happened to have a conveniently available replacement who was available for immediate hire, Rigel McCoire . This new Professor Account is a replacement of the Gargamel Account, also run by Colin McCoire.

The Runes Have Been Decoded
Image

Welcome to Jessamine Lancaster, who will be played by Koko Riddle, as our new Professor of Ancient Runes. Koko has notable contributions on many aspects from being the Co-Captain of Slytherin Quidditch team, the Secretary of Hogwarts Headliner, and Slytherin Prefect while leading Index team. We are excited to see what she brings to the site with her new role.

This also means a good bye to Jane Audley, also known as Jun Mayumi Mochizuki. She was one of our great staff who lead the mentors in mentorship program. We hope to see her around in non-staff capacity, writing exciting stories with her characters.

Mentor Co-Lead Has Been Found

We have found a new Mentor Co-Lead, Akeem Toussaint, the Professor of Care of Magical Creatures, who we also know as Atlas Anderson. Atlas is a very active and well-loved member of the community and has been a mentor for a long time. He will replace Jane Audley, who we all know as Jun Mayumi Mochizuki. We are excited to see his work in managing the Mentorship Program alongside Orion Lécuyer, the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.
