Elmo had some spare time in between ripping off children, plenty actually since he really only sold stuff whenever he felt like it. He had went to the closest wizarding bookstore (after he was thrown out of the MACUSA for ripping people off by security) and checked out a book that featured the dialect and alphabet of the Giant language, which he found a shock because he didn't think Giants were capable of writing, after seeing his half-brother in his incompetent stage.

But a man can always be wronged.

When it got around to the summer, he wanted to chill, to slow down a bit on marketing and read. He hadn't actually had the time to do that in ages. So.. he would take that time, and Debbie would be busy reading her romance novels that she must've gotten from a dollar general locally.

Elmo huffed and tried to get himself into the Giant mindset his brother emulated.

He growled, he spat, he pretended to box the air. Surely he was in the right headspace. He spoke the guttural symbols written in the book, pronouncing them carefully and slowly, the way the small English guide attached told him to. He continued to learn the alphabet and basic phrases, kind of like he was being taught language from a baby book. He repeated the attempts to learn how to pronounce the different letters. Okay, time to write without referencing the book.

The capital letters were apparently in English, but when he would read a sample giant excerpt, they were never capitalized, which must mean that they didn't believe in capitalization.

He flipped the book shut and found his quill and inkwell. The candyman wrote a few words down slowly, but to truly get the Giant feel, he wrote in all lowercases, none of the sentences would start with the capitalization. On the paper, written in no particular or proper skill were these words in Giant. "na ruya selnirr. na selnirrnel. na Elmo."
When he checked the book to reference the letters and placement, he was correct. It would say what he was thinking in English, "me love candy. me candyman. Me Elmo."

A bit babyish but hey, he only actually knew Elmo and was willing to learn this so he could make fun of him later and make him feel dumbfounded again.

Okay, he needed to go put his effort in learning the pronunciation. He knew how to say the letters and basic phrases, but didn't feel as confident about it.

He might as well say what he wrote, because if he wrote fairly decently, surely he can speak decently.

"Na ru..ya sel...nirr. Na se-" He stopped himself. It came out too human. He didn't feel it in his throat. He tried again and forced his voice lower as if he had swallowed some form of corrosive product that would lodge itself in his throat. He repeated it until he felt confident that he sounded like a giant.

After several hours, he smelled Debbie cooking and figured it was time to finish. This process would repeat daily but this was his new phrase when he addressed Debbie."hairr rusrauir, suna cairr na." (Translates to 'hey gorgeous, come kiss me.')

Forever as long as she'd known she was always remembered as pretty, making head turns. Unfortunately some people thought it was impossible but either way she couldn't stop making heads turn. Getting compliments on how fair her skin was and how her face blended. It was due to her Dhampiarism that she was able to have these genes, but alas she really was just that beautiful.

Many regard her as super lovely to see with her good looks. She didn't mind the compliments but Angel ever slightly wondered what made her attract so many people, her hair? Eyes? Overall face? Who knows. Maybe it really was just her.

Now first her skin, ghostly white yet fair and it was perfect, flushed blush that looked like tulips and her skin smooth and her skin illuminated making her look like dazzling sun.

Her eyes, dreamy and starlight with highlights under the star night with the bright day as well. The painted eyes are something a sight should see. Lips, red like bloody maroon yet sweet and fresh like water. The laughter and smile which radiated through the space she enters. The scent Angel carried filled the senses of everybody. She smells just like vanilla and buttercream, coated with the smell of the ocean.

Always looked fresh like a daisy, her hair flowing with the wind. Overall she was well, said to be perfect. Angel was really confused much oblivious but by time she said alot of thank yous and a lot of "awh thanks, I don't think I am all that pretty!" modest always, her personality is always amiable.

Many times she'd have eyes piercing at her looks. Really she was a spectacular girl to see. Beautiful, just beautiful. Some say she really is just like a dahlia, maybe a lily valley.

Always she would be receiving gifts and parcels for no reason. Sometimes it gets out of hand that she had to get another closet and spend the whole day of unwrapping. Letters and letters piled.

Now with alot of the compliments she'd receive a nickname "Angelic" many people said she looked radiant. She gained a lot of friends with her personality and voice like velvet. Pretty, Beautiful, Lovely, Darling, the list goes on. No adjectives can really put to words on how she was. Pretty was the one that she was fine with, everything seemed effortless to her doesn't need to put effort in her looks, everyone seemed to always follow her like a bee. Queenbee was another nickname she had gotten, all because people followed her back and forth trying to be like her and act like her.

It followed her during her time at Hogwarts too. Many people remarked on how striking her silhouette was.

Parents always laughed, Father would joke how she got her looks from him. Rolling her eyes she got it, she's the heart of everything the visuals. Well, as she got older she's gotten more lenient and simply nodded to the compliments. The most beautiful girl ever in Caerphilly Wales.

Robin had always held a high expectation for himself. Some might think it is due to his maternal family's invisible pressure, but not really. Purely by nature, Robin likes to succeed. He has an unlimited amount of curiosity and an unstoppable urge to learn. The boy had seen enough legends to know that he will never be the very best at something, but he has enough motivation to think that he should at least try to get close to that. Robin has many goals in life. If he wants to achieve them in time before he is buried in the dirt, he should not leave any time for mistakes. He grew up with researchers, every time his dad finds an error in his studies, he needs to spend time to figure out why that error exists and how to fix it, if that is even possible. Not only that, by reading many research papers as a hobby since childhood, he had read about multiple instances where a seemingly insignificant alteration in the process caused a disastrous butterfly effect that impacted the whole experiment. Hearing about those stories were not all. Every wrong potion combination, every incorrect recollection of a historical fact in exams, every false incantation or wand movement—people say that mistakes make you better, but Robin strongly disagrees. He believes that mistakes help prepare you for improvement to some extent like trial and error, but they are not exactly "improvements", so having too much of them will only hinder the overall progress if you keep making them.

Events in his first year such as botched failed or missed spells and a couple of near death experiences (or equally traumatizing ones) made the boy realize that personal improvement is needed. You never know when you need skills that are now beyond your reach, and the best way to get them in reach is to practice enough that you build a ladder leading to them. In his mind, the first step towards this is to "eliminate mistakes" so that he can focus on advancing his skills and not correcting his past errors. Whether that's academic, dueling, or even social interactions, Robin pays extra attention to detail to minimize reckless failure of any degree. Apart from Robin's usual habit of observing those around him for "research purposes", he also watches especially exceptional people in their respective areas, taking mental notes on how they are being "perfect", so he can at least mimic that perfection if he hadn't concluded his own understanding of their methods yet.

As he approaches his second year at Hogwarts, Robin feels like he knows a thing or two, to be humble, about being a high-achiever . . . if not being infinitely near the unlimited value of perfection.

His hands were shaking, following the steps to make one of the most difficult potions. It was almost finished. He only needed to pour the thing he only wanted to keep to himself, something that shouldn’t be heard by anyone else, even by the Fate who wove his life. He leaned over his cauldron and whispered his secret and desire into the mixture carefully. A final wand waving followed. He contained the final product of his work in some vials and calculated that each of them had the right dose. The potion was as clear as veracity; no odour could be smelled on a whiff. Yes, it was Veritaserum, a powerful Truth Serum, which forced anyone to emit the truth they kept inside their mind. He put the potions in a bag, sitting along with their antidote, which he had prepared to prevent any further harm he might experience.

He didn’t do this for a trivial reason. It was a plan he had made with his friend, an idea that had been given as a countermeasure to the things that he had experienced. The man walked towards Hog’s Head on the weekend, a promised place for him to learn this protection. He saw a man sitting on the bar, enjoying something that looked far from the word breakfast. “I should bring you food…” Lesmana said, which was responded to by a chuckle from the other man.

“Yeah, you should bring me food,” he teased. “I’m done anyway, let’s go upstairs.”

Both men entered the room, a familiar place for Lesmana, where he had recovered from his crisis with the help of the same man in the room, Arthit. Lesmana put the vials on the table provided, categorised them into two groups: the serum and the antidote. Arthit cast Salvio Hexia and Muffliato to block any intrusion. “You made them all?” he asked, to which was answered with a nod by Lesmana. “As expected.” He looked at each vial, labelled carefully by the maker. As he saw, Lesmana had sat nervously on a chair. He took a book that he had learned to help Lesmana reach his goal. “As we have discussed before, this will be the only way to develop Occlumency since… I’m no Legilimens… and we need to keep the intrusion as minimal as possible. The side effect of rejecting the potion would be—”

Lesmana chuckled softly. “I know. Don’t worry. I’m ready,” he smiled at the man. Even though he forbade Arthit to worry, deep down, he couldn’t be at rest. He knew too well the consequences of resisting the force and developing the protection and the maze of his mind.

And so they started. The first time was an impossible task. He couldn’t resist answering all the questions. His mind was under control to emit every truth, from the superficial to the complicated one. The next weekends were the same. The thing that can be counted as an improvement was his body's reaction to reject the force. He convulsed, quivered, and purged. Internal pain was like his best friend, even after the application of the antidote. This effort was often questioned by the other man, but doubt mustn’t have any place in this process, as they promised each other.

On other weekends, there was a positive improvement. Lesmana could slowly resist the force. Started from not saying a syllable, a word, to a sentence. The effect of rejecting the potion was also weaker each time to the point he showed no visible effect at all.

“I believe it’s a success,” Arthit said. His hands weren’t prepared with antidotes anymore. Lesmana shrugged, a smile formed, even though the eyes were fighting an inner battle in the mind. They continued to strengthen this method of self-protection to the point that Lesmana could deceive the force.

“Last question,” Arthit said. But that day was different. Lesmana could catch the hesitation in him and wondered why. After taking some moments, Arthit opened his mouth. “I want to know… if you’re seeing someone. And… I want to know if I can enter your life. I mean… I want to be on your side… To the next step… Romantically…”

His pupils widened. Lesmana took a breath and closed his eyes. He weakened the protection in his mind. The force could pass through each layer until it reached the core of his consciousness. He opened his eyes and put his gaze on the man’s light aperture. “I am… I am seeing someone...”

His lips curved upward. “You are the one I am seeing.” It was followed by a chuckle and a continuation, "And yes, you can enter my life and be on my side and take the next steps." He stood up and walked toward the man, who was clearly showing a mix of happiness, doubt, and confusion. “I didn't resist the force to answer that question, just so you know,” he added.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: The Muggle Condition
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

Reducio
Mikey spent most of his childhood believing the world worked the way every muggle believes it does. While many young witches and wizards rely almost entirely on magic, Mikey is just as comfortable trusting his own speed, balance, and instincts. Mikey had been raised as a muggle and in the world where there were no magical elements, so he has not developed himself into an individual who would adapt to a "magic first" attitude. Although Mikey attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and enjoys studying magic, a lot of his reactions and instincts are based on the upbringing he received being a muggle.

His mind naturally looks for ordinary solutions before magical ones. For example, whenever something goes wrong, his first reaction is pragmatic, not magical. Like if he was at home with his father and his dad burnt the toast again he would think to grab the extinguisher and casting Extinguo would be an afterthought. Or if the power went out he would be just as likely to look for a flashlight / torch as he would be to cast Lumos.

Growing up in the muggle world also taught Mikey to improvise. He does not hesitate to use any object available for him to solve a problem, whether it is a random tool or just some item around him. Before the discovery of magic, Mikey has been practicing practical thinking, quick mind and physical agility, which he still uses even though now he does not rush to use spells for everything. It is not that he is not able to perform quickly when magic is used. Those habits were built over years, and they don't simply disappear because he now carries a wand.

Physical activity has also played a large role in shaping who Mikey is. Mikey has been engaged in muggle sports, especially football, since he was a young child. He is coordinated and he knows how to think quickly. Now he spends the summer time in the muggle world and plays at the local pitch with his friends. These abilities help him to act quickly in situations when magic is not an option. Mikey is just as comfortable trusting his own speed, balance, and instincts.

Because of his upbringing, Mikey naturally approaches situations with one foot in each world. He understands magic, but he also understands the value of practical thinking, physical action, and ordinary objects. Rather than replacing his muggle upbringing, Hogwarts has simply added another set of tools to the ones he already knew how to use.

Lottie is not simply beautiful by nature, though her Veela heritage helps. There is a degree of work that must be done in order to maintain a demeanor of, for lack of a better word, loveliness.

After many years of living among the affluent glamor of a somewhat Pureblood family, Lottie had obtained a very ornate and long routine dedicated to ensuring the highest level of beauty at all waking hours. This routine includes various magical hair and skincare products, a good chunk of time devoted to choosing an appropriate outfit, and a considerable lack of makeup to keep her natural Veela beauty looking, well, natural.

These habits, though developed during tumultuous youth, have stuck with her since long before Hogwarts, and the upkeep of her appearance has been a second nature for as long as she could pick her own clothes without help. It is reflected in many areas of her life, this beauty beyond what comes naturally to her.

There is, of course, the looks. Scattered glances in the halls, touched hands at breakfast while reaching for the same plate, a pair of unknown eyes boring into the back of her head during Charms. It had never been so apparent to her before, as, before, she had been living mostly within the isolation of her siblings disinterest and her nannies doubled disinterest. Her beauty was not unfamiliar, but this attention was.

With the attention came new feelings for the girl. The older she got, the more pressure she felt to maintain this naturally unnatural beauty. This included failed attempts to repress the inhuman quality to her, which ended just as well as she hadn't hoped. The best option for her was to return to her roots, which was easy, but imperfect. This effort represented years of following her mother's repressive habits, and building herself more and more into the person her mother had designed her for.

The alternative option, one she was less keen on but more inclined to follow, was being as she was. Not fussing over the details, and instead allowing her Veela traits to take full control. And, after a few tests and a few tears, Lottie had determined that the best way to find confidence was just in allowing herself to be slightly odd, peculiar in ways that stood out as alluring, inhuman in a sort of mysterious, indefinite way. And this was reflected in the stares and the glances and the soft words. People suddenly saw her as more than beautiful- they saw her as enticing.

She did, of course, feel that gentle bite of addiction to the looks that any teenage girl would when actively chased after. But generally, it felt good to be free from the confines of upkeep. This natural beauty followed her with ease, and she could confidently maintain her loveliness without worry.

Two hands covered by plain dusty gloves, digging into the medium-sized potting plant. Usually, the soil would mix with coco coir before putting the sprout in, but since the moisture was well-balanced. Adding an extra would be unnecessary. The day began with peace, yet not noiseless. Skylar stood in her garden, not far from the two dramatic Astor twins. The conversation behind had grown louder over the last few minutes.

“This way.”

“No, this way.”

The words kept repeating, hardly for the third person to endure the curiosity in herself. The corner of her eyes slowly glanced at them bit by bit. The twins glanced back, but said nothing to her. Of course. Last time, she talked to them. No. She argued with them. It was when they complained about how she had stolen their stuff. Well. Skylar had considered the stuff was useless to them already, so why could she not have it too? She was their youngest sister. It should pass by as a legacy. They were such over-dramatic queens.

As the twins were disagreeing over something insignificant, she could no longer remember what the original topic had been. At some point, the discussion had stopped being about the problem and quietly transformed into a competition over who deserved the final word. She watched in silence, plugging the sprout into the pot. Her mind on ears. Her hands were on the work.

What a ridiculous question. They were arguing about which was the right way to move climbing vines. Skylar looked over the stone wall. Devil’s Ivy had twisted around each other until it was difficult to tell where one plant ended and the next began. Some grew upward. Some were competing for sunlight until one eventually overshadowed the other. She had spent enough time tending gardens to know that forcing two tangled vines apart would damage both of them. Sometimes it was better to guide them gently in different directions and simply let time do the rest. When one starts growing in the wrong direction, pulling it too hard would snap the stem. Her gaze still lingered on the tangled vines.

A year ago, she would have walked over without a second thought, gently pulling one vine this way, then the other way, simply to discover which direction was the correct one. If neither worked, she probably would have tried again, and again, until she understood why. Her curiosity had always been louder than her patience anyway.

Now, however, she found herself watching instead of interfering. Not because she had lost that curiosity, but because she had gained something else to balance it. Experience had taught her that not every answer revealed itself through experiments. Somethings became clearer only when left alone long enough to grow on their own. Wisdom, she supposed. Yes. Wisdom that was not about knowing more, but about how she knew when not to reach out and change something that was already finding its own way. Skylar looked down into her perfectly planted sprout again, placing it beside the others, deciding to let her older sisters figure out their problem for themselves, and walked away.

ABILITY ; prodigal charms learner
Reducio
Emma has always been one to read ahead and learn as much as she can before her peers. The second she got her textbooks the summer before her first year, she read them through and took notes in the margins, trying to commit everything to memory, so that when it came time for class, she could answer the questions the teachers asked without having to peek a glance at any of her books, instead just raising her hand quickly and confidently and answering the question barely after the teacher evn got it out. Was it infinitely annoying for her classmates? Absolutely. But did Emma give a single care to their own, unprodigal brains thought about her? Not in the slightest. It was a source of pride for her, and definitely something she got from her parents, who were prodigal learners in their day, and one of the classes that her parents loved in particular was Charms, This is why she needs to be a prodigal learner, and why it is one of the reasons she tries so hard in Charms class. She wanted to make them proud of her, something that was very, very hard to do. Emma has always been more of a Potions enthusiast, which she makes very known to everybody but her parents, but she found that Charms was infinitely easier for her than all of her other classes, seeing as she already had so much background knowledge through the books she got from school, the special ones in her family manor's library, and her parents teaching her a lot so that she could become the top of their favorite class while she was at school. While she could easily also be a prodigal learner in Potions, she thought that she needed to study extra hard in that class, not wanting to take the easy route by not notetaking or completing homework.
Emma takes this ability as a source of pride, and will not fail to mention it at a moments notice. She carries her academic achievements on her back as a burden and a drive. She needs to do well. She needs to be the top of the class. She needs to beat her longtime academic rival in his every test, question answered, and potion brewed. And most of all she needs her charmwork to be excellent enough for her parents to notice the work that she put in. Because to her and to them, nothing is ever enough.

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio

Sinclair's second year at Hogwarts had been a mixture of grief and avoidance. Having lost contact with two of her assumed friends from her first year, and having had a family death over summer, she felt quite conflicted and reluctant to let anyone else into her life.
The black hole documentary she'd seen before the accident that took her aunt and uncles lives did not help either, as it put into perspective the insignificance of human life compared to the vast possibilities of the cosmos. Yet, she felt blocked in her ability to express emotions, and the black hole became a perfect symbol of this inability to feel or connect and empathise with her family's loss and her peers. The kid had felt as if she were being consumed slowly, or that she, one day, will turn into one-- unfathomably full and all-consuming, and too empty to express.

This fear, combined with her aunt's ill-timed advice of being "independent" because everyone will leave sooner or later, only drove her to being more asocial. People she interacted with during her second year were kept at an arm's length, and she preferred to be alone. In that solitude, she, with her sense of studious responsibility, delved into her studies instead. Sinclair seemed to take particular interest in Defence against the Dark Arts, as it gave her a sense of control and safety, and was a perfect outlet for her inner turmoil. She figured that target practice would make her hunting mother pleased with her.

---

The second year of school ended with acceptance. Sinclair had remained by the lake near that familiar tree in a moment of reflection. The year had been long, and summer seemed a lifetime ago. The stinging scent of sanitation at the hospital, the sobbing of her aunt by her ear, the silence and absence she'd received from her friends... it didn't matter anymore. Her family's deaths... did not matter anymore. Why mull over things that had already happened, or mourn a situation that wouldn't change? The Gryffindor had decided it was illogical to linger on her lack of feeling towards her dead relatives, and illogical to remain emotionally attached to "friends" that clearly did not or could not want anything to do with her. Whatever the reason was no longer mattered to her.

It is a waste of energy, and I have none for that.

So she used her remaining energy into what she thought was productive. Her studies, her ability to defend herself, and to be independent. I can only rely on myself. Sinclair would visit her spot in the forbidden forest, spell book in hand, reading in advance and practicing spells to spend her energy. It became meditative, and in her grew a little bit more confidence in her own abilities. She'd aim her cherry wand at her makeshift target, and watch as her cacophony of spells shredded it to bits.

Perhaps signing up for the house broom racing team wasn't Pyce's smartest move. Especially when Pyce had absolutely no experience on a broom. But they managed. And maybe Gryffindor lost two out of three of their races that year. It was... Something. Pyce didn't necessarily blame themself, the other houses just happened to have incredibly skilled flyers. Gryffindor had them too! It's just- Pyce was not one of those people. And that needed to change.

Pyce had a whole school year's worth of flying under their belt now. They were, at the very least, somewhat familiar with the kinds of tracks and obstacles they'd be seeing come next fall. And with that knowledge, they could improve! Pyce's biggest weakness on the track had been their complete lack of experience. It had been a spur of the moment decision to sign up for the broom racing team in the first place, and they didn't have even a singular moment to spare from when they were accepted to when they had their first race. Now, Pyce had all summer to figure out even more broom stuff!

It started, as most things did when it came to Pyce, with referring to Hecate. Hecate had been present at every race thus far, and if anyone would be able to call out Pyce's flaws, it'd be their twin brother.

Hecate took immense joy in the fact that he could rib on Pyce with little consequence. He gladly told Pyce of how clumsy they were in the air. Sure, it was something Pyce already knew, and at that point, Hecate was just basking in his newfound allowance to bully his twin. Pyce proceeded to challenge Hecate to try and do better. That shut Hecate's acrophobic self up quick. Luckily, the Slytherin did know how to deliver proper constructive criticism, which meant the twins were actually getting somewhere!

The biggest take away? Pyce was very good at hitting trees. It should have been more obvious, given the bruises they were sporting after every race. The solution was far simpler than Pyce would have thought. Just- practice flying through trees slower. With every successful go around of the trees, Pyce could pick up the pace until they got somewhere closer to racing speed. And once Pyce could handle trees just fine, the twins started setting up other obstacles for Pyce to practice with. Most of it was just bored summer crafting. There wasn't really any need for the homemade, mostly cardboard obstacles to be high up or any sort of complex. So long as they were off the ground, Pyce could work with them. It was silly, and felt a bit dumb at times, but Pyce couldn't deny the results. With luck, by the time September rolled around, Pyce would be ready for any race the new school year held!
