) so I squished the two together to make a new spelling of Shephard

Hello! Yea, your guys names are actually good. Now that I think of it, I could have given Eugie either two names (Eugenia Malamo, cuz Malamo is her middle name) or two surnames (Karageorgiadi-Smyrnidi/iadi, both of her parents’ surnames), but it was going to be too long. So, idea dumped.
