Ivy was good at makeup, but she had never liked it, most likely because her parents forced her to wear it at the many pureblood parties they threw. It felt... unnatural, caking her face with random liquids and powders, and besides, there was really nothing she needed to cover up. She didn't have scars or acne, and to be completely honest, Ivy liked the way she looked, so why would she need any makeup? Maybe she'd put on a little for special events, like someone's birthday party or a ball, but even then she'd feel uncomfortable, as if she was in someone else's skin.

Still, the Gryffindor had decided she would attend this errand, deciding that she didn't necessarily have to use makeup... right? "Makeover" was a very broad topic, and after all, Ivy had been looking for meaningless fun activities to fill up her time with, and this errand fell straight under that cateogry. Also, her nails needed a makeover.

She had intentionally let her dark brown hair fall over her shoulders instead of putting them into her usual Dutch braids that day, wanting to create a more elaborate hairstyle with the materials provided there. However, she was regretting it a little - although it was not a particularly windy day, her hair was already knotted and tangled despite the fact that she had brushed it only just half an hour ago. Thankfully, Ivy had been smart enough to bring a hairbrush along with her, and she tugged it through her hair as she approached the courtyard, grimacing as she caught a few difficult knots in her haste. Why did hair get so tangled no matter what type of day it was? Couldn't it just stay put?

It appeared that she was a little late to the party. Ivy sighed to herself at the sight of such a crowded courtyard. She didn't like large gatherings very much, but what did she expect? The name of the errand included the name "makeover", and with the amount of over-excited princesses in this castle, it was bound to be popular.

Still, Ivy had definitely underestimated the amount of people interested in the errand, and although she had only just arrived, she was already feeling a little antsy. Her lips drew into a thin line with displeasure as she observed the scene for a moment longer, contemplating whether or not she should turn on her heel and leave. Large crowds were truly the worst.

But then again, she didn't necessarily have to socialise, did she?

Sending anyone who dared to approach her a look that would have stopped lava, Ivy stopped to pick up a few things at the box containing nail tools, pointedly ignoring the makeup box. She picked up a tiny nail brush, a nail file and a few different colours of nail polish selected at random, before heading over to a less crowded corner of the courtyard. However, before she started with her nails, Ivy tugged her brush through her hair a few more times, knowing that if she didn't do her hair now, she'd forget about it and then it would be an absolute mess for the rest of the day.

She worked quickly, her hands weaving pieces of hair in and out as she created a braid crown. As she was working fast and therefore not paying attention to detail, the hairstyle ended up a little bit messy, but it wasn't like she needed it to be perfect, anyway - just for her dark hair to be up and out of her way while she worked on her nails.

Ivy pinned her hair in place and stretched her fingers before picking up the nail file. As she filed her nails into an acceptable shape, the young witch was reminded of the many monotonous afternoons she had spent in Bellamy Manor, fidgeting as her mother dolled her up. She had always hated the preparation needed for the family gatherings and balls her parents hosted. Ivy usually would have jumped at any chance to spend time with her mother, but it just felt like a waste of time. She could be doing something useful, something that she actually enjoyed, but she would be forced to sit in front of a mirror and stare at her own reflection, bored out of her mind, for hours on end.

But this was different, she reminded herself. It was her own decision to come here. And to her surprise, she was actually enjoying the activity. Ivy set down the file onto the ground next to her and began to paint her nails with a coat of mauve polish, marvelling how lovely the colour was. She lifted her hand to catch the slight breeze blowing through the courtyard and prayed that it would dry quickly. The Gryffindor already had a design in mind, and although it wasn't a complicated one, she wasn't sure how she would manage painting with her left hand.

A couple minutes later, Ivy gingerly touched the tip of her finger to her nail, checking to see if the polish had dried yet. Yes! She grinned, relieved that she hadn't just ruined her manicure, and picked up the tiny nail brush before moving to work on her design. Ivy wanted to paint little roses onto her nails, and as she was sort of just going for it, she really hoped she wouldn't mess it up or she'd have to start all over again.

Thankfully, it appeared that her hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills were better than she had initially thought, because the final result was rather nicely done - and although the roses painted by her left hand were slightly more uneven than the others, she was rather pleased. Ivy brushed a top coat over her nails quickly, and once they had fully dried, she stood up and made for the exit. This had not been as bad as she thought it would be - and it was nothing like the party preparations her mother made her sit through as a child. You see, these things were so much more fun when they were your choice.

The third year had been staring at his hands helplessly as he tried to ponder how to get the smears of nail polish off his skin when once again the Ravenclaw head of house would come to his rescue. It was not like there was too much to save in the first place but Alan was still happy about the amount of reassurance and help he got throughout his task to get this done. So as instructed he would do, as he gave the professor a shy nod accompanied by the littlest of smiles. Alan had been noticing it before but something about the professor was off but he could not quite put his finger onto it. He also did seem a little intimidating but not in a bad way. He just seemed confident and strong in the way it was off-setting. It startled Alan but also impressed him and made questions and curiosity rise within him. It also felt familiar and reminded him of a friend of his, Neculai.

Unbeknownst to Alan he had been staring at @Alaric Equinox this whole time without adverting his gaze even once. His eyes a mix of curiosity and concentration as he tried to solve the riddle surrounding the professor, a riddle that could have easily been solved if he had been paying attention throughout all of his Astronomy classes which he did not since he held little fascination for the subject itself. If the professor were to notice him staring the third year would duck his head away and mutter a small "Sorry" before continuing to rub the smudged nail polish off his fingers with the nail polish remover, that had a biting smell to it, with the help of the cotton pads.

Once he was done with removing all the spilled and smeared spots on his fingers he would carefully touch up the polish on his nails using the very same deep red color he had been using before as he held his hand before his mouth and gently blew onto them to make the color dry a little faster. In between sending puffs of air to his nails he would glance at the professor once again clear his throat to gain the man's attention for a brief moment. "Would you mind if I practice some more on your nails, sir, after you are free th-that is," he muttered, fully aware of the fact that the man was still occupied by at least one other student using him as some sort of canvas. He did not want to be rude or selfish and also had no interest in overwhelming the man by having him focus on too many students at once.

@Jake Morris

Ruka didn't usually join errands very often, and especially after the disaster of the last one he had participated in, he had thought to have had enough of interacting with people at all for a while. He had successfully avoided both Flash and Jack since that day and continued with his life in blissful solitude for a little bit.

Coming across this particular errand had been incidental, focusing on random things at a time to try and help his mind settle a bit, and under normal circumstances Ruka would have just moved on and forgotten about it within seconds. This time, however, his mind had wandered straight to that day in the bathrooms where he had met George and they had painted a more or less beautiful tiger onto Jake's face. The small Hufflepuff hadn't looked so great upon entering the bathrooms, had seemed kind of tired and unmotivated, but once the face paint had come into play he had definitely started to lighten up.

Ruka wasn't quite sure what it was that had the slightly smaller boy feeling blue, but he did know what it was like to walk around the castle without feeling an ounce of motivation to do anything but exist. Even just existing felt difficult sometimes. Maybe, he had figured, helping Jake feel better again would give himself a sense of purpose, a reason to feel like he was valuable in some way, like he was needed and wanted somehow.

What he wouldn't give to feel needed and wanted again.

So confidently had he thought of himself as someone who didn't need other people, who couldn't care less what they thought of him or if they wanted him around, but just a single attachment had shown him exactly how dependent he was on outside validation. It had turned him into a person he barely recognised anymore, someone who was carefully tiptoeing through a minefield of emotions he had never experienced before. Things had been arguably better before he'd decided to associate himself with other people in any way.

Being by himself had meant that negative emotions born of social interaction had been kept to an absolute minimum, and he couldn't help but regret the fact that he had given up his solitude in exchange for harrowing feelings that were slowly but surely eating him up from the inside. He should have stuck to staying in his dorm room all day, should have kept out of everyone's way, should have stuck to himself.

But now there was no turning back anymore.

So out of a selfish need to be important somehow, Ruka had invited Jake to this particular errand of which he hadn't quite understood what it entailed exactly, but some coloured stuff to be put on faces was definitely involved, judging by the groups of people already gathered in the Courtyard and painting stuff on each other.

Ruka had stuck to the edge of the happenings, simply observing the more or less familiar students for a while to see what exactly they were up to. A lot of them seemed to be painting each others' nails with various colours which seemed like a strange idea to Ruka who liked to nibble on his nails nervously every once in a while. He imagined having colour on them would give them a disgustingly artificial taste and take all the calming aspects out of nail biting.

Sighing to himself, Ruka slowly moved around the tables and chairs set up all over the place to seek out the large tree Jake had mentioned in his letter. He was still a bit early so there was not yet any sign of the little badger, and Ruka took the time to lean against the tree bark, closing his eyes for a moment to keep his mind from going off the rails again. Hadn't he been doing better? Hadn't he spent a whole month working on getting rid of this never ending anxiety and his gnawing feelings of inadequacy? Why couldn't he seem to be getting them under control anymore now?

What was wrong with his mind?

Slowly blinking his eyes open again, he looked down on his attire; He was clad in his favourite grey sneakers and a simple pair of blue jeans, but his T-Shirt, short sleeved and carelessly revealing his scarred arms, was old and grey and at least two sizes too big and had come straight out of the trunk with his dad's old clothes. There had been an instinctual need to put on something of his dad's since Ruka had taken to leaving his necklace back on his nightstand in his dormitory ever since the race a few days ago. He needed at least something of his dad's to feel vaguely sane throughout the day.

His wand was poking out of the pocket of his jeans, there just in case.

A look at his own hands would reveal his knuckles to be raw and scarred, like he had been beating something he really wasn't supposed to, but he averted his eyes quickly, instead trying to focus his eyes on a bird atop the fountain, dipping its head into the water every so often as if for refreshment. It was understandable; Summer was well on its way and the weather had improved significantly, rising heat making their cloaks redundant outside of classes. Even to Ruka, who enjoyed warm weather above the cold, anything more than a light T-Shirt was making him feel ridiculously overheated.

With a little sigh, he let himself slide down along the bark until he was sitting on the ground, pulling his knees close and hugging them tightly against his chest. Upon closer inspection he would look tired but he was doing his best to cover it up with a performance smile he had been practicing his whole life and he doubted anybody would be able to see through it unless they knew him incredibly well.

Not long now, he thought to himself as he rested his chin on his knees, rocking himself back and forth for a little while as he waited for Jake's arrival so they could both take their minds of whatever darkness there was hidden inside.

Alexis’s hand moved swiftly to apply light blush on her cheekbones and a little bit on the tip of her nose to add the playful look, then dig into the makeup box to find last two items she need for her finishing touch. Her hands came up with a mascara and several shades of lip gloss. She set the mascara down and held up the lip gloss up to her eye level. “What do you guys think? Peach, Coral, Cherry, or Nude?” She held them up to Atlas and Ethen to see before she paused. “You know what? Never mind. I’ll go with Coral. Thanks.”

She picked up the mascara she placed down earlier and uncap it. Steadily, she applied it without getting any on her eyelids or messing up her previous work. That’s definitely count as a win. She let out a sigh and blinked at herself a few time. Perfect. “Backpacking sound interesting. I might have to try it sometimes. Where do you recommend?”

She help up her index finger and wiggled it like a teacher before saying, “First of all, nothing is wrong with wild makeup, it’s exciting...” She pauses to grab the Coral lip gloss, just holding to before continued. “Second of all, why don’t you do another eye like this one. So in the end, it’ll look identical”

“Oh! And... pick the shades you want to use.” She flashed the girl a smile before applying the lip gloss. She rubbed her lips together a few time before giving herself a toothy smile, making sure she didn’t get any lip gloss on her teeth. It happened once, luckily it was her family who saw it. Still very embarrassing.

She turned to watch Ethen saluted her and giggled. “Okay... why don’t we grab a base coat and pick a base colour. Sounds good?” She said as she dug her hands into the manicure box, trying to find her perfect shade of nail polish.

WC met for errand completion.

Quinn perked up and so did Irene who just watched the three curiously a little on edge but mostly relaxed. She seemingly approved of Caradoc at least, but most notably her attention was focused on the frog on Breana's head. She would never eat of it course. She was too proper for that sort of thing. Meanwhile Quinn took up the brush again a different sized one it was much smaller than the previous one and dipped it in an ice-blue shade. He carefully started to apply it on Caradocs eyelid in a thin layer. Doing his best to keep it even. Surprisingly it was turning out fairly good, and he went back over thickening it up a bit more with a larger amount.

Quinn was getting superbly focused now and continued on his task using a variety of brushes and shades. He knew it wasn't going to be great but the perfectionist deep within himself along with his competitive nature would not allow him to give anything else but his full undivided attention and beyond maximum effort. It showed by the way he furrowed his brow and concetrated wholly on his task. Currently he was still working on the eyelid doing his best to blend the icy blue with a rich, deep purple that it tapered into above and below the eyelid.

"Me mum makes it look so easy..." He mumbled completely forgetting Caradoc was there and funnily enough treating his face more like a canvas. Hence the closeness that would normally or should normally make most uncomfortable. But such is the price of perfection.

Meanwhile Irene's eyes had dilated a lot as she was seemingly transfixed on Breana's paw. Much like a child would be with its favorite toy. Her moved every time it moved.

Autumn, having had arrived at the courtyard, looked around, only to be met by a crowd of people, one she personally considered too large for her taste. She tried to avoid everyone as she made her way over to the table where she could see several bottles of foundation of all different shades. Scanning the bottle, she found an ivory bottle and looked around for a mirror.

After a few seconds of observing the crowd and checking if anyone was holding a mirror, she found a Gryffindor boy, one she felt same to assume was either in his 1st or 2nd year. He had olive skin, green eyes, a triangular face shape, and looked very confused, compact pocket in his right hand, examining a palette of eyeshadow with his left.

Moving towards the boy, Autumn could notice several things. First of all, the boy was wearing bright pink lipstick, which was a fun shade, although most definitely not Autumn's style. The only problem with the lipstick was how horribly it clashed with the boy's olive skin. Autumn chose to put off this noticing until later, because she had others and if she pondered on this one for too long, she would never shut up, and nobody liked it when Autumn talked, unless she was lying.

Second of all, she noticed that the palette the boy was examining had some bronzes, some golds and two, maybe three, shades of green on it. Nothing else. The problem with that was that none of the ones and colours on that palette would be compatible with the boy's lively green eyes.

She did not have to tell him. She would only come off as condescending, and not help the situation. She could lie, and pretend to be someone nice. She could suggest subtly that, maybe, that shade of lipstick could be replaced by, huh, you know, maybe the sheer cherry lip gloss which had magically appeared next to her.

Still, she was not in the mood for mind tricks. It was a Saturday, and she was tired, and she would probably never see the student ever again. And so, with this in mind, she glided over to the slightly taller stranger and spoke quickly and with a deadpan tone.

"Salutations, I am Autumn Artemia Ivy, your name does not matter, I need your compact mirror, and you need to do multiple things, first of which is getting rid of your horrendous lipstick."

She flinched slightly at the face the Gryffindor made at the last three words. She had not meant to have had said them. Still, she kept her resting face on, not daring to show emotion. Before the boy could open his mouth, Autumn reached across the table for some makeup wipes and offered them to the boy.

"Second course form of action you must take is putting-"

She walked away then, and returned with a container of sheer bronze lip gloss.

"-this on. Matches your skin tone significantly more effectively."

She watched patiently as the boy confusedly took the gloss and put it on, looking at the compact mirror as he did so. He then smiled at his reflection, and Autumn actively kept herself from smirking.

"And, finally..."

She went through the eyeshadow palettes surrounding them with a sharp look in her eyes, and a dedicated aura. She sighed in satisfaction as she found what she was looking for; a deep burgundy eyeshadow. She handed it to the boy, who looked down with a raised eyebrow.

"Burgundy eyeshadow. Fits your skin tone and your eyes. After that, if you think you're up for the challenge, a classic thin flick with eyeliner and fix up your eyebrows a bit."

She turned around with a mysterious, knowing half-smile playing on her lips.

That was, until she realised she was not holding a compact mirror. She sighed, but did not go back to the nameless stranger. Her exit had been perfect, and she was not ruining it. Instead, she returned to her previous location, only to find a mirror, one with made of silver and glass, with a stone which Autumn recognised to be tiger eye on the back. She made a face of delighted surprise, and positioned the mirror against a surface and finally sat down.

Then, with a small, genuine smile, she began putting on foundation.

Alaric would keep his eye on the work Mars was doing and Alan as evenly as possible. He was ready to help Alan if another mistake arose, and he was genuinely enjoying the design that Mars was working on. When Alan quickly ducked his head away and muttered an apology, Alaric would shake his head a little. “No need to apologize. I am very accustomed to my uniqueness. If you have questions, I wouldn’t think you rude to ask them. I would be honored to help satiate any curiosities you might have about myself.” It was, after all, normal for the children to be curious about him, and he wished to do what he could to put their minds at ease.

“I would love for you to do my other hand just as soon as Mars is done with this one.” Mars was doing an amazing job, and working faster than Alaric had thought. He never put much stake into designs rarely varnished his claws, to begin with. Colors drew attention, but now that he was here, he found that he didn’t mind as much anymore. He was more accepted for who he was at Hogwarts. When Mars had finished, Alaric smiled brightly. “It’s brilliant! I will be careful with them until they are done drying.” His done hand resting on the table, he would shift slightly and put his left hand on the table for Alan. “Do not feel the need to match it. I will rock mismatched hands and be proud of it!” He laughed a hearty laugh that rang out across the courtyard. The Ravenclaw Head of House was enjoying himself far more than he thought he would have.

A faint blush would spread over his cheeks as the professor would respond but at least he was not mad or anything which made the situation far less embarrassing than he might have expected it to go. With this there was little that he would have to worry about since the professor even offered to answer his questions if he had any. And questions he would have. He might have considered it too bold to ask @Alaric Equinox if it hasn't been for the professor to offer it himself so he would finally speak up with what was on his mind. "You share a lot of t-traits with a friend of mine, sir, are you a dhampir?"

Now that this burning questions was out of the way and he had gotten confirmation that he could practice on the man's other hand once @Mars T'ien was done so he would wait patiently until that was the case. He would notice how Mars drew little symbols such as rainbow colored stripes in the middle of some black onto Equinox' nails and even though the man mentioned any color would be fine Alan would still like to at least have it match a little. As he watched Mars at work he would think about the professor and what simple pattern he could do as he slowly got to think of something that would match both the painted fingers and the professor's personality.

As he got ready for his turn he would grab both black and white nail polish colors and show them to the professor once he was done with his current interaction with the Ravenclaw and returned the hearty laugh of the adult man with a shy smile of his own. "Are th-these fine, professor?" he would as for a last confirmation as he showed the man both a matte black nail paint and an equally matte white option of nail polish. Quite simple so far which left his plans in the open. "Th-Those look nice," he furthermore commented on Mars's work with a nervous smile.

He should have used the time Rainwood spent dragging him to the courtyard on sleeping instead. How he went ahead and agreed to allow his roommate to take him somewhere was beyond him. He didn’t get to dwell on it much as he was too busy being skeptical on Rainwood deciding they were close enough for him to grab his hand. It was a silent but clear fact that Hanako did not like his space getting invaded except when he was the one doing it to piss people off. Rainwood and him so far had only got into each other personal space to do just that. Without warning, Rainwood decided he was allowed to hold Hanako’s hand. Did that piss him off? He wasn’t sure. His brain kinda stopped screaming about personal space when he saw Rainwood smiling like a child that just got free ice-cream.

He’ll let it slide, for now.

So, when they arrived at their destination Hanako looked around in mild curiosity. Didn’t this look like a spa? Why are the students and teachers doing the work? Wheres the workers or staff for that? Rainwood talked about putting something on him and it dawned on him. He wasn’t a dumbass when it comes to how these things worked. His grandmother would take him sometimes to the spa and he’d enjoy a nice face mask of different variates. What he was a dumbass in, is doing it himself. Why would he when he had the money to pay for others to do it? Why does it look like everyone was enjoying this? God, he needed sleep.

I’m the last person in his school that needs an anti-stress mask, but why not. Don’t expect me to do the same to you, though~” he joked to Rainwood, not expecting him to put the mask on his own anyway. Rainwood does know Hanako quite well, does he?

Rainwood then called out for Professor Jensen to paint her face as well and Hanako couldn’t help but laugh. Many students would think that Professor Jensen was a- to lightly put it- a stick in the mud. She was exactly what people would expect her to be when it was mentioned that she was the head house for the house of the cunning and ambitious. Basically she looked like someone who would dominate you in chess without mercy. Hanako had thought of her like that as well, without any special interest in getting to know her. But when she accepted his flower crown for Mother’s Day, it was like someone just flicked on the light switch and Professor was now seen in a better light. That didn’t happen often to the people Hanako had met, let’s be honest.

He’d like to stop favoring Professor Jensen since after he graduates, it’s not like he’ll see her again. But with the thought of Jensen comes a thought of his own mother. They both had similar vibes yet why does it feel like Hanako knew Professor Jensen better than his own mother? The interactions he had with the two weren’t all that different but seeing Professor Jensen wear the hand-made flower crown his mother never bothered to...it was tough to decipher so he didn’t want to think all that much about it.

But for now, he could say that he respects her- just a teeny bit. And he knew Rainwood felt the same.

To his surprise, Professor Jensen accepted Rainwood’s offer to paint her face. At the moment, she looked rather popular with the students. Seeing her look rather flustered about the amount of students that asked for her attention managed to make the boy laugh. “ Don’t worry Professor. In a few minutes, you’ll have a chance to look as stress-free as me“. Hanako gave her two confident thumbs up with a cheeky grin. He turned to Rainwood and said: “ Hey, don’t forget to put some on my face as well~”.

Atlas found herself staring at Alexis intently as she put blush on her cheeks and mascara on her eyelashes like her hands were performing a dance. She made it look absurdly easy and she knew eventually it would be easier for her too but it would take practice and time away from pranking which was a sad thought.

Holding up the lip glosses, Atlas opened her mouth to give her pick just as Alexis quickly decided on Coral as she turned back to her mirror to apply it. Lip gloss seemed easier enough as you didn't have to mix colors, Atlas thought to herself as she shuffled through the makeup box til she found a gorgeous dark purple one that pulled her focus.

Pulling it out of the box, Atlas carefully twisted the top off as the wand came with it. "Oh look a tiny unmagical wand!" Atlas exclaimed letting out a gentle chuckle as her nerves started to settle. Waving the wand in a haphazard fashion, Atlas felt the lip gloss wand connect with the mirror as a large streak of purple was pulled across the glass. "Ope...my bad..." She said her face not matching her words as a giant smile pulled from her cheeks.

Placing the lipgloss wand back in the tube, Atlas jostled it about a bit before removing it once more as she rested her elbow on the table to get a steady hand as she painted the purple color over her lips just imaging it all as a picture she was coloring that she didn't want to get out of the lines. At the crease just below her nose she felt a small panic but exhaled soudly taking her time as she carefully followed the lines of her lips making sure to fully cover them in the color.

“Backpacking sound interesting. I might have to try it sometimes. Where do you recommend?”
Alexis inquired as Atlas put down the lipgloss to concentrate. "I love Germany. The food, the culture...the landscape..." She replied closing her eyes to picture her last adventure there. "Any place you go will be magical as traveling is so rewarding."

Pulling her focus back to the day, Atlas opened her eyes as she picked up the eyeshadow brush rubbing it in the orange as she mirrored her eye with its bright color. Adding some red and purple, it seemed to be far too much makeup but from wearing nothing every day any amount would be a lot.

"Uhhh how's this?" Atlas replied turning to face Alexis. "Anything to fix?"

"Oh mascara right!" She interrupted as she shuffled through the box finding a tube labeled mascara as she slowly painted her eyelashes mimicking what the young girl had done just moments before to eliminate getting it on her eyelids. "Okay, how about now?" She inquired once more turning to the girl.

"Does it still look like war paint Tebo?"
She called behind her turning to also show off her face to Ethen.
