"Damn it," Sylvain said, tossing an uncharacteristically hot-headed fist at ground. He was frustrated with his lack of attention to detail. Even as much as he had wormed his fingers through the grass at the edge of the forest, searching for even a fragment of the journal, Vlad's journal was still fated to be lost to them. There wasn't much else he could do now that it had been claimed by the forest but perhaps he had never needed it in the first place. The forest was ablaze, and his housemates would likely make it out alive. Syl was alone in his minute failure for now but it would not be long before reason and logic faded into the background. Adrenaline would come to haunt his thoughts and make his decisions once more.

Out of all the events that had happened tonight, and as he searched, he reckoned that there were a lot of questions to be raised later. The thought of answering to Marcus sent shivers down his spine. Maybe he would write a confession later just to avoid the conflict. One question, well two actually, lingered in his mind despite his racing thoughts. "Who set the forest on fire and why?" They would be his responsibility to answer and he would answer them both as honestly as possible. He had thought he was doing the right thing at the time, but then perhaps that wasn't the perception everyone else had had of him. One thing was certain to Syl at this point. Vlad wasn't going to catch the blame for Sylvain's actions but his role in the incident would at least be obviated to everyone who was paying attention. Vlad's curse was part of the School's growing list of problems.

Without much warning, the doll that Vlad was carrying had seemingly become a porcelain pipe-bomb in its own right. Not exactly in a position to dodge oncoming debris, Sylvain caught whatever flew his way like a practice target with its back turned to the all of the action. As the shrapnel imbedded itself into his lower torso and the upper back of his legs, wetting his pants with a few spots of the speckling blood, Sylvain cried out in pain. Damage that stung like hell and itched like mad suddenly wracked him. Remembering Vlad's warning, and seeing the spiders that came from his wounds, the lad stood on his own two feet and prepared to fight the monsters back once again. He was tired of accepting his losses and his body was getting sore from fatigue.

"Lumos Solem!" he incanted, and it would almost sound as though he had done so angrily if anyone would have believed him capable. His desperate hope was to find enough light within himself to conjure brilliance. Enough light within himself to eliminate any shadow of doubt that he was capable. Capable of searing those shadows which emerged from Vlad once and for all. This time however, he was not as concerned with saving each individual as much as he was enraptured by solving the problem that all of them now faced. That was the lesson he had learned from his previous tango in the Forbidden Forest. You can't save everyone, but you can certainly die trying.
Action: Casting Lumos Solem at the Shadow Spiders emerging from Vlad.
Calming Presence- An aura of calm. Allies (House Ravenclaw) gain a 10% chance to auto-hit their chosen target. This does not stack.

Once again, the Ravenclaw house had delved deep into dire straits. Students were wounded; this forest teemed with wicked shadows below, and burned with bright blue flames above. They combined with the light of Pericles' Lumos, held just overhead, casting strange lights and shades on his pale freckled face. He kept close to Aurora and Winnie as the latter supported the former away from that forest, aiming to keep them in a ring of light until they reached a safe distance. The lad looked up sharply when Dee stated Thomas and Callie were still inside. An anxious expression flitted for both adults- the ones who were supposed to magically "fix" all of this, some wilting childish notion had assured him- and Peri prompted "Professors?!" as if to urge them into action. He looked in a worrying way towards the woods, as though still considering the odds of bolting in. Sensibility won out and he refrained, for now. But things weren't looking good.

A body fell just within the treeline. He may have heard a scream. Vladimir was approaching the edge, with a... body? He could not discern the details from his distance, but it became perfectly clear to Pericles that it was not flesh and blood when the Bombarda sent out pieces of porcelain shrapnel. He had but seconds to react, in the wake of that incantation as well as the sight of flying debris. Minimize exposure. It didn't require grace, dropping flat to the ground, and he did so with a complete disregard for appearances. Diving onto the grass saved him from a nasty wound. Panic sent in. His eyes were wide, ears ringing with the boom of a spell, the crackle of flames and shouts of allies. Pericles' heart ached in his chest, pounding from both his run for help and an onset of dread. With frantic blinks he considered his two nearest housemates: Aurora and Winnie, both of which were struck by shrapnel. What was it Vladimir had destroyed? Why was he searching for it? Why obliterate it in such a careless way? Did he mean to hurt them? Was he malicious, careless, crazy? All they had wanted was to get answers, keep him out of the forest, out of danger. Pericles' standardly pacifistic calm warped with a grimace, set on by anger, though confused grief was its core. Why was this happening to them?

Horror turned to resentment, an icy glower towards the woodline. Of course Vladimir had hurt himself even more. Maybe he wanted them all cursed, wanted them to hurt as horribly as he did. "Heal him!" The direction was shouted, angry albeit pleading, to no one in particular. Lessons for third-year spells hadn't begun yet, after all, so he hadn't been taught Reparifors or even Ferula. Why did they teach the healing spells after the fire-making spells?! Dee was at least in a safety circle of light. Sylvain was eliminating the spiders pouring out of Vlad's chest. Spiders, coming out of a human body. Not something anyone wanted to see, let alone a thirteen-year-old. His father could sue Papa Athanatos for trauma therapy later. Right now, he had to mitigate damage in any possible way. Pericles lowered his wand. Aurora was one of the closest, and the most miserable, it seemed. Belching up slugs and bleeding couldn't have made for a bearable combination. "Aurora?" He remained low, but edged nearer to the girls, voice hushed and hasty. "Can I help?" A swift point at the wound, though he was already taking his teeth to his shirt, a sharp jerking motion serving to separate stitches. If that porcelain was removed, the fabric could be used to compress her wound, though it might be a little sweaty from all his running about. He would wait for her consent. Bleeding out might be preferable to smelling like a teenage boy's armpit. He wanted to be helpful, and calming, but was having a horrible time of keeping it together himself. Peri's voice was strained as he glanced over to Winnie, near whispering as he added "Are you alright?"

Slugs. Really? Out of those fancy spells in his spellbank, the amazing logic of his was to cast that specific spell. It was the most embarrassing moment in her entire twelve years of her life. Nothing could be worse than being face to face with someone as charming as Pericles while some slugs and slime came out of your mouth continuously. She wanted to apologize for the mess, both to the prefect and the redhead, but the nauseous feeling was too overwhelming. As for the quidditch co captain, a piercing death stare tried to stab both of his eyeballs. That should be enough to give him a bunch of red flags, better watch his back starting this second.

The terrible echoes of what seemed to be an explosion from afar sent a chill down her spine. Both hands moved by itself and covered her face from whatever flew towards her. Then she heard a faint scream, muffled by the ringing. Someone’s hurt, what do I do? One good news, the white haired boy was physically okay, but it was not the same case with the other three nearby. Red paints gushed from their skin. Wait, no, it was blood. Had it not been because of the situation she was in right now, never would she find out that red fluid causing so much dread within. The sight itself made her freeze in place without even noticing the unknown shrapnels cut her flesh with no resistance. “W-winnie, E-everyone, you’re bleeding” As she looked down, her blood had spread to the jeans fabric, quickly darkening. Next thing she felt was a sharp pain on her leg. Getting stung by the spider was unbearable, but seeing her own blood poured out of her vein was something else. Seeing the big stain on her jeans made her feel nauseous and dizzy. All she could think of was that her time would come to an end, could be minutes, could be hours.

Out of the injured, no one could surpass the severity of the model’s ripped chest. Maybe his pecs weren’t so hard after all. How dramatic of Aurora, thinking she could die from just a little blood loss while that Vlad guy could still run and scream. A date went wrong, his partner broke his heart by slashing his actual heart. “H-he’s dying-“ Still sat on the ground, trying to process so many things all at once. It was gore, it felt unreal. Which one should she be terrified of the most? A boy bled out, on the brink of his death, or the spiders that came out of his body. The same words repeated over and over again, “-he’s dying, and I don’t know the spell. He’s dying” She wanted to run towards the boy, but she had nothing to offer. No spell, no medical kit nor knowledge, nothing. When Pericles offered her some help, she just lost it. For some reason, the fact that he decided to help her instead of the spider guy drove her into a breaking point. A duelist, and a third year, if anything, he was more capable and probably knew any healing spell. With teary eyes, Aurora would squeeze his arm in desperation and said, “Help him instead! He’s dying! Help him instead! Please!“ She didn’t know what to do. Her wand pointed at Vlad, not knowing what to expect. All she wanted was to stop everything. Maybe, just maybe, by demolishing the spiders within him, it would ease his pain just a little. “LUMOS!”

Everything was extremely still in the Forbidden Forest. It was as if the forest was not breathing. How could that be? There were screaming and yelling far away and even nearby, and yet, next to Bloom, it was as if nothing ever happens in the Forbidden Forest. Was it watching her?

Holding her wand tightly in her right hand, Bloom's heart was racing fast, and a slight ring echoed in her ears from the adrenaline rush. Should she just turn around or should she keep going? She couldn't bear the thought of having her peers in danger and having her outside the forest just waiting for what was going to happen next. It wasn't a sense of wanting to be the hero, it was just her wanting to be there for others as best as she could.

Taking a deep breath, the ringing in her ears had died down. She listened to the voices around her and while she could hear shouts faraway, there were also shouts nearby that she felt she could be of some assistance. Bloom ran towards the area. Little did she know, however, that there may be a large, eight-legged creature attacking a peer or two.

Her report finished, Dee had missed the disaster that had befallen Thomas and Callie, didn't notice that the forest had stopped moving, either, her attention instead held by Vladimir and the mysterious unwieldy shape slung over his shoulders. A shape that was looking more and more like a body the closer he came and which was then dropped to the ground, the noise it made jarring coming from the forest, not how a body was supposed to sound.

Despite herself, Dee inched forwards, drawn by curiosity to try and discern what was happening. Not far enough to enter between the trees again, unaware that they didn't seem to pose a current threat, not that she would have trusted the fake peace if she had noticed it, but it didn't matter. When Vladimir blew up the thing - the doll - she was still too close.

Dee's battered body didn't react fast enough to try to take cover, or even throw herself down on the ground in an attempt to dodge the porcelain shrapnel. Her muscles protesting, it was all she could do to throw up her arms in front of her face, screaming when the sharp-edged pieces struck her, warm blood running down her arms, soaking her clothes where they had hit. A year ago, this new attack might have rendered her unconscious, but she'd grown more durable in the meantime.

Still, she was crying when she lowered her arms in the aftermath of the explosion, small sobs shaking her as she stared at her bleeding hands, one still clutched around her wand - a reflex well-trained in the past two years, between disasters and duels. She'd never let go of this rather small piece of wood, unless someone forcefully pried it from her.

Dealla looked up only when other voices erupted around her, shouting, to see Vladimir with a hole in his chest, and the giant centipede crawling from the shattered doll's body.

"Heal him!" Peri's voice demanded somewhere near, directed at an unknown saviour.

"Help him!" Aurora pleaded.

What was she to do? She couldn't help Vladimir. Didn't have the knowledge, the spells. Didn't want to get close enough to offer physical aid, not that she thought Vladimir would want it, or that it would be any use. Not with a wound like that, not with blood that would turn into spiders and attack her if she was too close. Light helped against those, had been her weapon of choice for the past half year, but others had reacted faster than her, light spells being spoken around her while she was still busy processing.

The centipede, then, she'd try to focus on that. Her vision blurry, she aimed her wand, then hesitated. How to fight it? Was it like the spiders and would get incinerated by light? Or was it a different kind of monster, requiring a different approach? Fire, her mind said. It was an effective weapon against most moving things, but she'd seen its destructive power spread out of control too many times. "Immobulus," she called instead, trying to keep her voice steady, her hand dripping with blood. Perhaps someone else would know how to deal with it once it was frozen.

As the slugs spewed from Aurora's mouth and slid up the cloth of Winnie's cardigan, she could only silently celebrate when she managed to stumble out of the forest carrying her friend. Upon the sight of Sylvain, she would give the older boy a half-glare. Yes he had technically helped to save her, but his action had been dangerous. If Dee's spell had hit her dorm mate, she would not have been able to move as the slugs tried to crawl their way out of her throat. "You couldn't have used a different spell?!" It might have been a humourous moment considering there were multiple slugs crawling over her, but her hands were now starting to tremble as she released her hold on her year mate.

Vladimir would emerge from the forest, seeming, for the the most part, alive at least. Good. Winnie did not personally have anything against the boy and couldn't quite understand the aggression some of her classmates seemed to harbour for him. Whatever the hell he was carrying was soon dropped to the ground. It was quite possibly the creepiest looking doll she had ever seen, and it also looked a bit like Sylvain. "What the hell..." She mumbled under her breath as she plucked a slug off of her arm and tossed it to the ground. Whatever it was, it must have been important considering his venture into the forbidden forest. It had to be some sort of dark magic, right? Winnie took a step back when Vlad drew his wand.

'Bombarda'. She didn't have to know the spell to understand the first part of the incantation. There was not much time to react as the doll suddenly shattered and sent pieces of porcelain flying. Winnie could only shield her face with her hands as the glass shards sliced her skin and left weeping trails of crimson, a stark contrast against her pale skin.

Her concern was not for herself, but instead for Vladimir. She had seen the vermin emerge from his blacked blood earlier that night, and she knew what to expect when the shrapnel shredded his chest. Her eyes would quickly flicker down to poor Aurora, still vomitting and now bleeding. Pericles would offer her some relief, but there was simply not enough time for that! She grit her teeth, rushing towards her friend. She would swoop in, her arms sliding beneath her knees and around her back, carrying the girl bridal style. (Permission has been given by Aurora, although I am unsure if this would still need a strength roll). "NO TIME! RUN!" She screamed at the dueling captain. If she succeeded in carrying her friend, she would attempt to run from the nightmare creatures that would soon rip their way free from the boy's chest. If the pieces of porcelain were still embedded into her skin, each step she took would be painful.

The forest still ablaze -- blue bells flame. The cold flames would cover the great and expansive canopy of the dead forest. A heavens a blaze of azure brilliance The forest was still, yet their injuries serves as a tangible reminder to the life that was hidden behind the guide of the inanimate.
Sylvain maintains BlueBells.
Roll: 17 Success
The blue flames would continue to harmlessly spread and they would reach something unexpected but out of sight. Unknown to the boy, he had just reached the front door of a gingerbread house. A gingerbread house now on fire. The only difference, in this case those blue bells did burn.
Sylvain you just set the hag's summer home on fire.
This was not going very well for any of them. Bloom Silverton was still in the forest, in pursuit of her peers. Vlad had quickly escaped the forest with something in tow. There were others in the strangely still forest. She would find Thomas Baines standing there over the fallen form of his housemate, Callie. If he had any hopes of making her his girlfriend he probably should avoid nearly killing her. There was a very damaged ship in the making there.

This is not what she would want to see but there was no reason to expect otherwise. Having only one Ravenclaw down was actually a better outcome than expected.

"Professors?!" Pericles called them to action, the unfortunate Professors had expected to see a few kids drinking some 'liberated' fire whisky from a Professor's private store or something similar. Rather they saw an imperiled flock of students, a forest that was set on fire and children screaming about injuries and fresh traumas an overworked school nurse would have to potentially physically manage and hope that their psychological scars are forgotten because he was not a therapist.

Sylvain had lost the journal. The journal he had found in the damaged remained of Vladimir's trunk when his room was trashed by an unknown intruder. What sort of boy keeps a diary at his age? Well, it is called a journal first and foremost and secondly, it was invisible for a reason. A pro and a con with having an invisible book is that they book is well hidden but also very hard to find.

A Bombarda destroyed the body Vlad had carried out of the forest.

Pericles hit the deck. A hailstorm of shrapnel sailed over his head. Aurora and Winnie were not as fortunate. He would hear Deralla's shrill scream. Eye level with a pile of vomited slugs he would hear the terrible sound of porcelain slice into flesh, he would look up and past the writhing garden pests. Vladimir had little regard for the birds around him, the selfish monster they already knew the fool as. "Heal him!" Peri cried. He knew full well the consequences of letting the boy bleed, even if he deserved it for his careless, reckless disregard for himself and his peers.
Pericles maintained Lumos.
Roll: 5 Success
There was nothing Peri could do, for Vlad at least. His lit wand still in hand, it was not for lack of care or want, even if that was deserved but rather because he could not. He did not know Ferula or Repifors, he could only hope an upper year or one of the Professors used it and saved the rest of the from the hell the boy had foolishly unleashed. His attention on Aurora, the very strange girl that was belching up slugs. Strings of saliva mingled with the slime that escaped a gasping maw, what the heck was he thinking casting this disabling spell that only caused her to suffer?

“W-winnie, E-everyone, you’re bleeding” Yes, everyone was bleeding. Well, almost everyone. She was good at stating the obvious between the evacuation of slugs.

This was all Sylvain's fault. "You couldn't have used a different spell?!" At least that was going to be the one that Winnie rebuked. It could have went very wrong. it was still ongoing, the bleeding girl left to suffer. Partially incapacitated but at the very least she was no longer in the woods.

"Aurora?" Yes, the incredibly hot white-haired boy knew the girl's name!

“H-he’s dying-“ Aurora was pointing at Vladimir in spite of her own obvious injuries. The sight of blood was making her faint. Well, she was a little less faint looking at Vlad's awesome bare chest in spite of the swarm of spiders that were escaping enmasse.

"Can I help?" A smooch it all better would be nice but instead an uncharacteristically manly display of cloth tearing. Those clothes were probably too expensive for such abuse but they also were probably not meant to be worn when running, that 4 strength was probably all in the legs.

“-he’s dying, and I don’t know the spell. He’s dying” Aurora should have said yes or or I love you Peri as those cheesy romance fantasies would have went. Her focus went to the man most indifferent to her, typical Aurora. She could not get her mind out of the man's hotness or the spiders pouring from his chiseled form.

*rip*

Peri knew better than to listen to Aurora. He was not a stranger to obsessive women even if he hardly noticed them. He had fortune or perhaps inherent sense.

“Help him instead! He’s dying! Help him instead! Please!“

Shut-up Aurora. Not that he said it, perhaps he should have. Shut up and let me help you. A very expensive bandage, he would have to pluck a few pieces of scalding hot doll from her. yes, the girl was both nauseated and bleeding. The comfort of the boy's likely manicured and moisturized hand's touch better than the sweaty, quickly bloodied strip of cloth that Aurora might place in her Peri shrine until she unceremoniously discards the potential love interest for another. Pericles had done the carnal sin of noticing Aurora, she could never love him now!
He said consent, so if her saying no was enough to deter him ignore this moderation since her consent was OC only.

Aurora is no longer bleeding.

Aurora, feel free to contact Peri.
Regardless, Peri would address Winnie. "Are you alright?"

Dealla Prince knew better to run to Vladimir in spite of the pleas of her housemates Sylvain and Aurora. She was bleeding, sobbing, assailed by a hailstorm of pain. She did not have the time to heal herself. she did not have the option of healing others, there was not enough time!

Reckless options, such as fire and explosions, the preferred options of her peers. she had learned. In fact many of them had, in spite of their former recklessness which abandoned common sense in favor of drama and led to only disaster and failure, Dee would pick another path. She would try to halt the centipede rather than implode it. Rather than burn it and risk the senseless spread of a destructive inferno in the forest.
Dee casts Immobulus.
Roll: 16 Success
Attack 14 (+10) Success
Evasion 11 (+10)
The centipede that was about to invade the flesh of one of the students here. A fate that Dee had unknowingly averted. The large, rust-colored monstrosity would hiss and struggle but appear almost paused.
Centipede is bound.
Sylvain was hurt -- porcelain shrapnel and a bit of hot metal would embed itself into the teen's flesh. He had no time to consider the scalding hurt, he knew that stopping now to consider these superficial injuries would be the end of him. The darkness that would escape from Vladimir's injury threatened to overtake them all. In response to the proliferation of spiders Sylvain cast Lumos Solem.
Sylvain cast Lumos Solem
Roll: 13 Success
I dub thee 'lightbringer' one Sylvain Wyllt -- a bright orb of light would be summoned by the boy's incantation and a flick of his wrist. Light would flood the area, leaving the world bathed in the bright, invasive presence of the this great globe of illumination. Beneath a heaven set aflame, with wands....

“LUMOS!” Aurora would also cry.
Aurora casts Lumos.
Roll: 10 Success
Yes, wands like swords presented to ones king all shone with a safe warmth of light and life.

Was it enough?

Winnie as not going to wait and find out. "NO TIME! RUN!" Winnie would declare out of nowhere as she attempted to scoop Aurora into her arms. Aurora always wanted someone to sweep her off her feet. She was likely expecting a girly man but instead she got a girly girl. The still vomiting girl, slugs sploshing over the both of them as another slew of slugs evacuated her gasping, struggling maw.
Winnie strength checks
Roll: 7 (+7) Success
Bridal style, like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon Winnie would run off with a (likely) screaming Aurora in her arms. Peri with a ruined outfit. So much light, and yes it would be enough. A centipede needed to be contended with. There was still a swarm of spiders coming from Vladimir's chest but they would start to fade.

Little had they knew, Vladimir had killed yet again what was most precocious to him. A cursed existence, a repetitious hell he endured. To kill his best, his only friend over and over again. Well, at the very least this fantastic fake. This cruel reminder of his maitakes and his failure. This was not the first, or even the second time this had happened but it never got easier. He searing pain of the explosion. The broken flesh and the embedded shrapnel would be hardly a hinderance.

These tears were not for the pain. He was used to the physical suffering. It was the mental anguish that came in waves, it never got any easier for him. A wand to his chest he would mutter quietly enough with a quavering voice "Ferula.
Vlad casts Ferula.
Roll: 6 Success
Bandages would shoot from the tip of his wand and tightly bind his chest in an attempt to stymie the bleeding. The bandages would shift and move, like some sort of horror movie. Bound to him for the time being, the few that escaped would burn up in the bright lights summoned by house Ravenclaw. The power of teamwork might not be entirely instinctual but for those that united, for those that have worked together they would discover the power of collective choice. Of teamwork and of compassion. Of making the right choices. Of taking calculated risk.

As Aurora refused aid, attempting to redirect it towards Vladimir, an expression both forlorn and apologetic passed over Peri's face. "I- I can't. I'm sorry, Aurora," he answered, quick and quiet, "but we haven't had those classes yet, and I'm not going near that forest." He would give his friends and allies the shirt off his back (or in this case, the sleeves off his shirt), but he was not at all tempted to get himself cursed trying to apply field-aid to Vladimir Athanatos. Attempts to help him had already been bluntly rejected. All there was to do now, was to help those harmed as a consequence of his bizarre behavior. Pericles placed his still-glowing wand between his teeth, then deftly plucked shards of porcelain and mollusks alike off of Aurora, mumbling an obstructed apology under his breath for the certain sting this caused. Though a slug or two crawled up his arm, he ignored them in the same way he ignored romantic advances: with a straight face and calculated display of "obliviousness". For as keen as he appeared, Pericles was a master of pretending not to notice things. Ignorance is politeness they say. With a swift series of hasty knots, he secured the makeshift bandage before Aurora was whisked away by Winnie, hauled away from the insanity, on towards safety. Good. His fingers trembled with nerves and adrenaline while he wiped slug slime and bits of blood onto his pantlegs.

Birds of a feather flock together, a term which couldn't be truer for Ravenclaw, especially its sports teams. With Aurora out of immediate danger, Pericles plucked the wand from his teeth and turned to search for Dealla. A sweep of wide eyes would reveal multiple unsettling sights. First was that burning gingerbread house in the deep dark woods. He had seen it before, the last time they took their romp through the forest, when he was briefly abducted by an acromantula. He had seen it from the heights of the trees while ensnared in the arachnid's clutches. Just the sight of it caused his stomach to drop like a stone, weighted with dread. How was it here...? Magic, of course. The very trees themselves had been moving moments before. Of course the Forbidden Forest shifted, it was unpredictable, like a great living monster. He was certain, without a doubt, that they were laying eyes on the domain of a hag. The lad hadn't the will to check and see if she was going out Hansel and Gretel style though. No, there was something particularly wretched between them and the house: a six-foot centipede, enough to turn the stomach of any creepy-crawly enthusiast. Dee had just cast something upon it, freezing the nasty thing, and therein lay the third terrible sight: she was crying.

For a thirteen-year-old, Pericles had done an adamant job of keeping it together for the duration of this disaster. But Dee was the duel captain, the queen of putting on a brave face. To see her shaken rattled him to his core. He wanted dearly to comfort her, assure her in some way, empathetic emotions overflowing. His hiking boots steered the boy towards her almost automatically, forehead creased and frown formed from distress. His first thought was that he had a second sleeve to spare for her wounds. But Dee had just frozen that abysmal arthropod, while Thomas and Callie were still inside. The quicker these threats were out of their way, the sooner they could attend to those injured without hindrance. Peri paced quickly towards her, halting at her immediate right, and raised his lumos-lit wand. With narrowed eyes and stern certainty he incanted: "Diffindo."

Interacting with @Thomas Baines & @Callie Jensen
The sounds of her peers were getting closer and closer. The forest, calm, seemed to invite Bloom into its eerie demeanor. Bloom, walked towards the closest sounds that she could hear. As she walked, she began to see two figures getting closer.

Both figures were familiar to her. Bloom was not close to them, but she knew of them through the Common Room and corridors. Bloom was sure that they couldn't have been in her year either. As she got closer, she saw that Thomas was hovering over Callie's body which was unconscious.

Bloom ran over to them both. "What happened?" she asked, unsure of what was around them. "Why is she dying?" Bloom asked, kneeling down next to the girl who looked inches away from being dead. How was she going to help her? She had to do something to help her.

Bloom touched Callie's hair, getting it out of her face. She looked like she was losing a lot of blood. Bloom looked at Thomas and then back at Callie.

"We need to get her out of here or she'll die," she shouted at Thomas. Bloom didn't mean to shout. The adrenaline in her body was racing. She could now only think of getting out of the forest and bringing Callie with her. "Help me pick her up and take her out. I came from there," she said, pointing back to where she was certain she came from.

"…"

It all happened so fast. A miscast caused so much. This was one of the countless time that his sloppiness had caused great harm. For all his confidence, for all his bravado, Thomas never dealt with failure well. If the consequences were dealt in the pain of a bad exam, Tom spent hours studying to try and compensate for his errors. If the consequences were dealt in the form of pain of a stumble, a scraped knee because he wasn’t watching where he was headed, Tom just jumped back up and limped for a day or two. However, when true, mortal, possibly deadly harm came onto those who just happened to be bystanders… Solely as a result of his mistakes, no less… The young Ravenclaw couldn’t bear such weight. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he stopped casting his spells if only for a moment to shut out the world as best as he could.

Breathing rapid and arrhythmic, eyes wrung tightly shut, heart beating erratically, and hands covering his ears… The boy was clearly on the brink of some kind of panic. Thomas hardly followed Vlad’s next actions, and the resultant blast that sprayed everyone in the immediate vicinity with shrapnel. It was only through luck alone that he was able to avoid harm, not just in that moment but up to this point. How fruitlessly did he wish for some sort of consequence to reflect onto him rather than those he cared about.

It was then he heard the voice of a stranger. Perhaps it was for the best that Bloom had shouted, because it was only a shout that could get through to him through his muffled hearing.
"What happened?"
Guilt weighed too heavily on his conscience to drum up an answer.
"Why is she dying?"
Uncovering his ears and looking to the older student, Thomas’ words continued to fail for a moment before he was brought to reality by her next assertion.
"We need to get her out of here or she'll die."
"Oh um, I- uh," stammered out the the Ravenclaw, eloquent as ever.
"Help me pick her up and take her out. I came from there."
"Right, uh, yeah." Thomas rubbed his eyes, trying in vain to clear out any residual tears. He bunched up a section of his robes—they were always too big for him anyhow, the growth spurt his mother had anticipated upon buying them long overdo—and tried to stop some of the most severe of Callie’s bleeding with some compression. He struggled a bit, but with Bloom’s help surely they’d be able to get her out of the woods. "Sorry," came his stunned, whispered response to the whole endeavor. Remorse was not an emotion Thomas was overly familiar with, but at the moment it was hitting him hard.
