ReducioThey say you will never forget your first love. In Sako's case, he literally could never forget when he had spent a lot of hours learning a whole language to please someone that repayed him back by moving out of the country. His first heartbreak happened at age 12.
1st year in Mahoutokoro, he originally planned to mind his own business, keep to himself and focus on studying more than gaining friends. That was until the teacher switched his seats so he would sit next to the noisier girl in the classroom.
It took the 11 year old Sako about 2 weeks before the girls voice started to sound like the sweetest melody, and her smile when he paid her the tiniest attention became his favourite thing to see during school hours. And just like that, young Sako experienced his first fleeting feelings of a big crush.
At the time, he thought girls liked the nonchalant attitude. So he passively listening to her ramblings when he could, only making mental notes on the tiny details she shares about her own life. One particular thing that was evident early on was how she loved merfolks more than anything. She was not an expert on the merpeople. She was just a child with a huge fascination for water, and an enthusiastic interest it those that calmly live deep under those waters. She would speak enthusastically on personal non-evidence based theories. Plans on turning to a merfold herself (not possible). And lofty dreams of befriending one in the future. In short, she was a nerd. But since she's cute, who cares?
Sako had this whole plan laid out. Wow her with his nonchalant attitude during school hours, but eventually - BAM! He wows her, with his knowledge on merfolks, his comprehension of their language will make the possibility of her befriending one (with his help) more possible, and make her rely on him to make her dreams come true. And boom- they date, get married at 23, have 1 kid, live in a beach location area, and live happily ever after. Sako spent the months diligently studying the merfolks and their language. While not lucky enough to speak to a real merfolk yet, Sako became confident in his comprehension as time goes on.
When they both turned 12, he confessed to the girl the day after their last exam of the year. Only to be awkwardly rejected, and told she doesn't do long-distance relationships. Perhaps acting like he didn't care about her interest was a bad move. But at least it looked good on his resume in the future to know the language of merfolk.

Y5 : Comprehend Language #2 - Giant
ReducioDuring a particular summer when he had just finished his 4th year, the area where his family diner he worked at, there was a rapidly rising uneasy atmosphere. Word has it that there was a small scale rowdy dark wizard gang passing through the steets. Threatening shopkeepers, passerby's and causing some ruckus. His parents forbade him from exiting the home or the diner during this era, though the diner continued to run still.
The ignorant bliss was short lived as some rowdy younger members from the gang group came in a pack. Ordering ridiculous amount of foods, yelling and chattering loudly, and intimidating costumers that looked at them too long. At first they were accomodated hesitantly, but when the bill came and the diner fell to tension as they started threatening Sako's father. Sako, a scared teen at the time, hid behind the counter .At the height of their anger, they attempted to flip the table full of empty plates and glass. An action stopped by a newly arrived customer whos height and stature made the group quiet.
Sako still remembered what they looked like. Tall- their head almost hitting the low hanging light. Broad shoulders, their nose looked squased, their skin having light brushes of hair - giving their unnatural skin tone a soft dimmed glow. Their hair looked thick, bangs almost covering their eyes. The glare and the deep voice that scared both customers, his parents, the employees and the gang gang was evident, she was not in a good mood. All Sako could think was how beautiful she was. The hit of euphoria washing away his recent heartache like a soft gentle wave that contrasted the way she threw a chair across the room. Effectively intimidating the gang members in leaving.
Since then, Sako's summer was the best eventful one ever. Here he was, hanging out everyday in the diner with a part giant lady that could speak basic Japanese that was freshly hired as a bodyguard for the diner. Most of the time she pretended he wasn't there when he tried to talk to her. Ignoring the evident adoration in his eyes with unease. There was no doubt she had no interest in a teen boy still going through puberty. That didn't stop Sako, though.
Everyday, he would show off what a devoted husband he'd be if she'd pick him (even with the zero chances of it happening). He perservered through every one of her rejections, still doing his best to teach her better Japanese. And asking her for help to studying giank speak. It was hard in the beginning, With his broken attemps at saying 'Yur aa kema bsar rom ra ku sud' ( Your eyes shine brighter than the moon today ) , and her getting frustrated/agitated enough about not understanding what he was teaching to almost throw more chairs and tables - it was a lot. But eventually they kept at it. By the end of summer, he had started to recognise some of the things she grumbles under her breath.
Going back to Mahoutokoro was hard. He was a boy in love with a half giant that was way way older than him who constantly rejected him. Of course all he wanted to do was be around her! He saw this instead as an opportunity to prove to her that long distance would work! So he studied the language of giants even more, making use of any available resources to get better. Making intimidated juniors listen to his pronounciation practice. This went on for the rest of the school year as a 5th year. He had constructed the perfect wooing tactic. Go back home during christmas, confess in full giant language, listing out why he was the perfect husband for her despite the age range. Everything was set!
Except no, with the threat of gang members not being a concern anymore, Sako came home to no towering figure in the diner. She had been let go a few months ago, without Sako's knowledge. Only leaving a written note in Japanese. Despite the novice handwriting, she stated how grateful she was that Sako taught her how to speak better. That he was a nice boy, and he should study well and find many friends, and has no doubt he will eventually met a nicer person more suited for him.
He felt like he should've learned not to learn a language for years as a rizz tactic and wait till last minute to confess, but here he was reliving his first heartache again. Shortly after, he fell back to the pattern of tearing up giant language books, and notes, and taping them back together in tears. Wishing his understanding of giant speak would leave as quickly as the next dawn.

ReducioHate had always been his fuel to do things. This could come in the form of envy, jealousy, bitterness, and such. Others might've cried or whined, but he steeled himself and instead focused on what he could do to change the situation. And fortunately or unfortunately for him- Sako was someone who always had a situation he wanted to change. His 5th year was his most memorable. A navy robed student of several years, itching to get his hands on golden robes. That was all there should be to it - easy , but a peer of his - with his infuriating near permanent pleasant smile on his face - seemed determined to make it anything but easy.
It all started with a fiasco between the Go club leadership, a humiliating public 'win' between him and the Go club's members preferred president, and his fist meeting Fotis's cheek in a flurry of emotion - let's just say Fotis left Sako with a lot of room for reflection. Reflection that often flickered between angrily scrawling unfriendly names of his peer on a parchment, yelling his name in a soundproffed room, and stabs of forks on a wall with a photograph of Fotis on it. How dare he. Some priveledged foreginer making Sako more livid than he had ever been.
And the most awful part about it was that no one else seemed to see it. Since they were young, people just flocked to that lavender robed gaijin like he had done something to deserve it. Meanwhile it was Sako that worked hard, Sako that stayed up nights for exams, Sako that was there at every request a teacher wanted, Sako that extended extra time to point out mistakes in his peers so they wouldn't do it again - and yet it was Fotis that people seemed to gravitate to. It had always infuriated Sako to some degree, but this year that frustration amounted to new levels, like a spark starting a forrest fire under dry heat. What was it that muggles liked to say? When life throws you lemons, grab it and chuck it back to life x10 harder? Yeah, that was probably it.
After his not-so-elegant display of anger, as much as he wanted to stay away from the gaijin - in the end it would only be him at a disadvantage. So instead, he made an effort to insert himself more into Fotis's space. Picking seats close to him. Eating his lunch where Fotis was. When Fotis was out with his group of friends, there was always a chance their eyes would meet from across the hall, or a few levels away. Perhaps it didn't look at much in the beginning. At worse, it may look like Sako was stalking him.
Sako didn't care too much about that, especially when he got what he needed by watching Fotis. He started small, trying it out on strangers, younger students that knew nothing about Sako. The timing in which Fotis smiles, the tone of his voice, all kept in mind. Then he expanded to the customers he served in the restaurant his family worked at while he worked - starting out conversations with a friendly face with a welcoming voice. Then at Mahoukotoro, he moved on to his peers, and classmates. He ensured not to be Fotis - now that would just backfire on him. But while he watched his peer, he noted down what people reacted best at. He had the nice shape of Fotis's smile so ingrained in him he could tell himself if he was smiling right when he practiced on the mirror.
He learned how to be charming, from his biggest enemy. How ironic.
Sako fought an internal urge to roll his eyes or hurl out his latest meal everytime he did it. People could say a lot of things about Sako, but no one could say he wasn't a hard worker when he put his mind to it. Slowly but surely, it was almost like he was seeing life through Fotis's eyes. His club members stopped looking so uneasy when he's around, his peers started asking him out to join them for lunch, and strangers started to enjoy their interactions with Sako in comparision to his previous blunt, quick interactions.
It was almost sickening, really. But Sako reminded himself that this was the only way where he could truly benefit from his hate for the boy. Soon enough they will graduate, Sako will use this newfound skill, and they won't have to see each other again. He finds his chest a little lighter at the thought.

When people see you, and assume your competence at first glance.
Image had always been his biggest battle of them all. Having his competence undermined in one way or another. It consumed him to think all he needed to be treated the way he deserved was through proper golden robe colours. After receiving his on his 6th year, he was livid to know that things feltโฆ the same. Was his peers suddenly blind? Did they not see the golden colours he wore was one everyone strives for? Was it his background? The eldest son from a family of nobody's? It pissed him off.
One night, he had a dream of fragments of childhood memories, doing homework at the family restaurant his parents work at instead of playing with kids his age. The only thing he could really do apart from studying that wouldn't get a small slap on his wrist from his parents was people watch. He'd see all sorts of customers coming in and out. The way they interact with the staff, and each other. How they act, and how they are treated.
On a rare occasion, he sees a customer or two that looked like they were not from around these parts of Tokyo. Glamorous, or elegant, eluding a vibe of luxury that did not fit with the wobbly tables, washed out wallpaper and flickering mismatched lights in the restaurant. He watched as his parents and other staff treat them a little more differently than a regular customer. Extra food 'on the house', or extra politeness, extra smiles. Even when the rich assuming customers hardly gave gratitude.
When he had woken up, the plan was fresh in his head.
His 6th year was the busiest year of his life. He was doing whatever errand he could to get extra pocket money, he studied styles from the more fashionable people of Mahoutokoro, he started getting into sports, working on specific parts of his body. During holidays, he focused on selling his own items and his family's items if they were careless enough to leave it to rot and collect dust. For once, thankful to be in a family of hoarders. With every new money, instead of spending it on his usual amount of academic books, he used it for new clothes, make-up, hairsyles, even classes he took in secret that lectured him on self-care, and maintaining a 'look' he had in mind.
Frankly, he didn't think it would work. If golden robed didn't help him, why should looking a little better would? He started his 7th year with an unyielding bitterness of the possibility he had wasted his time in the end. His annoyance consumed him for more than half of the year, throwing himself back into studies and extracurricular. It hadn't come to mind that his effort already had started to pay off. It was the increased rate of curious lingering looks, and the shy kouhais (juniors) who gave him random food out of nowhere. No one seemed to comment too much on how he looked different, so he ended up graduating not realizing his plan worked. He had no close friends to point out his change, and no interested family member that could say a compliment without it sounded backhanded. Perhaps it was not so evident to him, but anyone looking at a picture between Sako 4 years ago and Sako now could easily spot the difference.
Take away the bad lazy haircut, he snotty, arrogant way he seemed to stare down at others, and the irritating voice constantly drawling on about the importance of handwork and grades like an elderly unfulfilled with his youth, and Sako was one might consider a gem in the rough. That starting from 6th year, and summer - entered his last year at Mahoutokoro as a polished version of himself that even his personality couldn't dim at all times. And with his previously newly learned ability to be charming the previous year, it was likely that this buff of his was going to continue for a while.

I need to clarify the year assignment for your abilities, because specifically charmer and lovely creature sound like they were acquired when he was older / are written from the adult and lawyer pov when they are meant to be student abilities. And they clearly aren't Y1 abilities as you describe charmer and LC was something he had to learn or decide on later. What years do you wish to assign these abilities to? Because Charmer and LC seems to be from the adult POV but you do not get an adult ability this year since you traded it for stat points, but it described events after y5 - so I assume you would assign this to y6 or y7? Mermish sounds like its designed to be the 2nd year ability as it is when he starts to study the language? or 5th year when he confesses? Giant language seems like it is intended to be the 6th year ability?
So yes, please specify the years to assign all of these abilities to and let me know so I can proceed.
edited- 14 MARCH , Sako
I owled all the things that were changed for clarity

Make them feel unique and wanted. Thatโs what her father used to say when he talked to her about the mindless business conversations he had with rich, show-offs. โYou know? People love to talk about themselves, if you let them be comfortable you might just lure them into a deal they didn't want to make.โ
The bi annual fair was in town and it brought with it oh just the most amazing chocolatier stand and at the gold center of the stall, the chocolate elephant statues. Ever since she had laid her eyes on it she had wanted to try one, but She had never been allowed to buy a sweet treat from the stall as her mother deemed it a glorious waste of resources, if she wanted chocolate she could buy so at the grocery store and not from some over-priced venue. Though what she didnt understand was that these little with love crafted statues were just that much better than some boring everyday bar.
Ellen pressed her face against the display case, chocolate covered marshmallows, nuts, everything chocolate and everything so creatively crafted into unique animal shapes. They were little art pieces and oh she wanted nothing more than to take one home with her. But she had 10 bucks and a stolen scratch card in her pockets and the elephant that she wanted was at least 35 bucks. The girl sighed as she pushed herself away from the glass, if she wanted that chocolate elephant she had to come up with a plan.
Now despite being homeschooled Ellen was a very socialized little girl and she knew plenty of kids around the neighborhoods, now she only needed to find one that could help her with gathering enough bucks. There was Tommy and Jonah who hung around the slot machines picking coins out from underneath the machines. Ellen knew them well, two older boys both from the market town. Tommy had taught her how to pickpocket last year, he said that all the tourists that came to the harbor would never suspect such a cute, little thing as Ellen. All she had to do was walk up to them and bump into them. It was really easy and it made big money. She wasn even afraid of getting caught, even if she did the police werent much wiser than the tourists. But Tomas wasnโt always willing to share his part of the deal so if she wanted some certainty they wouldn't do.
Maybe that group of girls who had tried all day to get a stuffed bear from the claw machine, hmm no they wouldn't have a lot of money left to spare. Letโs see here, Ahh that one over there at the whirligig.
Beatrice Rickens was the oldest daughter of one of the rich men who sometimes came to buy meat directly from her fatherโs farm. Ellen thought she was a nice girl, all be it a bit odd and with a horrible temper problem. People usually stayed away from her as she was difficult to talk to, but ellen knew just how to do it. Besides the most important factor of Beatrice was that she had money and that she wasn't all that smart. She skipped over to her and tapped her on the shoulder.
โHi triss!โ Ellen chirped โOh hi bea..โ The older girl looked away, Ellen immediately noticed that she seemed a bit down. โhm? Whatโs wrong?โ Beatrice mumbled something barely recognizeable but Ellen tried hard to understand what she was trying to say. "oh.. its nothing.. i just wanted to ride the Whirligig, but no one wants to ride it with me." Ellen tilted her head slightly to the left, now that was curious she could work with it. "Oh well, that could be an easy fix no? Say, id love riding the Whirligig with you. Ellen watched as beatrice her eyes light up and a big smile grew on her face "oh really youd do that for me?" โOf course! i dont have anything to buy for a ticket though."โ "ohh dont mind that, I could buy you a ticket!" Beatrice chirped before Ellen had a chance to say anything. This eagerness to comply was just what she wanted. โoh Triss really? oh you dont have to do all that, thats so nice of you.โ Beatrice shrugged as if it wasnt a big deal. Ellen scooted closer and put her arm around her it was time to go in for the kill. โSo are you completely alone? "no im with my mum and my sisters, but theyre off somewhere." Perfect. Beatrice was spoiled girl, her mother did everything to keep her in a good mood. โAh. hey im getting kind of hungry do you think after we go on the whirligig you could ask your mother for me if maybe she could buy us one of those chocolate Elephants from the stall? Id ask my mum, but she's busy.โ Beatrice nodded "Sure, i mean you owe me big time." Ellen smiled at the slightly older girl, just great. โthank you, really, thats so kind and generous of you.โ Triss simply smiled as she gave Ellen a ticket for the whirligig. Kindness really did pay off.

Hope this is enough and it comes across what i was kind of doing here. I dont really intend to make her a very manipulative girl but i wanted to sketch a scenario where because she is skilled socially she knows all these different people and knows how to talk to them in a way that will benefit herself. I threw in a little thing about her being a little thief cause as a poor kid who is charming pickpocketing and petty theft i feel isnt out of the question. Ive never really written anybody like Ellen and though i was like her when i was younger it was kind of difficult to write so as i said i really hope it comes across.

Skylar steps into the library, letting the warm atmosphere engulf her. Books and parchment are placed at every corner of the room, whispering promises of knowledge and learning. It took Skylar a while to work up the courage, but she has finally made a decision โ she was going to study ahead on flying.
A few days ago, Skylar finally had her first flying lesson. She had been excited beyond belief, as she was one step closer to achieving her dream of flying and Quidditch. Though she is a wizard-born, Skylarโs parents had not allowed her to fly because they live near muggles. It would be her first time trying to fly. However, her attempts in the lesson were mediocre at best. It took her eleven tries to summon her broom. Eleven! Despite finally being able to summon her broom successfully in the end, the incident still haunts Skylar to this day.
But she was not going to let her failed flying lesson deter her from becoming a successful Quidditch player. So, after she finished her lessons for the day, Skylar settles down in the library and reads. She grabs every single book that even so much has the word โflyingโ in it. She even went to Flourish and Blotts to buy a book on Quidditch.
For the next three weeks, Skylar studies in the library on everything and anything flying. She still did her homework of course, but not without a Quidditch book right next to her. She reads Quidditch matches as if they were bed time stories and has dreams of doing fast laps around the stadium. She even sent a few letters to her parents, asking if they have any tips she could use. She even took it upon herself to read the Daily Prophet for Quidditch updates.
However, merely reading on strategies and movements is not enough to elevate Skylarโs skill with the broom. So, Skylar takes her learning somewhere else โ the Training Grounds. After signing up for a broom from Professor Ruckusโs shed, Skylar carries the broom to a nice, open area. Around her were plenty of older students who could help her if she made a fool of herself.
Taking a deep breath, Skylar sets down the broom and stretches out her hand. Just as she is about to summon the broom with a verbal command, the broom just flies right into her hand! Skylar stares bewildered at the broom nestling nicely in her palm. She had not even said โup!โ Skylar had only read about non-verbal summons in books before, but she never thought she would experience it herself. Usually a skill like this is for skilled players and racers who have already summoned brooms so many times that it is like second nature to them.
After checking her surroundings, Skylar prepares to mount her broom. She kicks her leg over the broom and rests her weight on the seat. She adjusts her grip accordingly and makes sure that she is balanced. Finally, Skylar plants her feet and gives a powerful kick to the ground. Skylar holds back a gasp as her broom flies a good few feet into the air. She looks around and lets out a cheer. She was flying! Well, not actual flying, as she is merely floating above the ground, but she is in the air! Skylar looks around the field, enjoying the open air and soaking in the sun.
At last, Skylar gently lands on the ground and brings the broom back to Professor Ruckus before dark. She had successfully rode a broom and she has not even taken her second flying class yet. Skylar is already thinking of all the fast laps and loops she could do. She can finally fly!
WC: 626

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: The Muggle Condition
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): WC: 533
ReducioRoland was a lucky boy, born into a world surrounded by the highest and purest form of magic that desperate mortals could ever conjure, art itself. On the day his mother, who used to consider having a child the ultimate expression of human banality, went through a smarting delivery, his father was on stage beneath alluring lights, reciting good old Marlowe's illustrious lines. Such was the devotion of the Marins, and it would not be the last time when art prevailed over and preferred to life. The boy was never baptised. Instead, the not-so-young couple took the baby to a family friend's house, and, following a rather Dionysian evening, the boy's forehead was anointed with a drop of absinthe by his father. How secular, how ritualistic.
Yet, it would be a grave mistake to assume that the loyal adherence to art performed religiously by the Marin household devoured, consumed, or trivialised the simple pleasures of life. No, not at all. Art was an enriching force, making life -otherwise timid- not just a tad endurable, but genuinely joyful. Roland Domagoj felt this otherwise subtle truth quite prematurely. Without a sister around to pull her hair or a brother to wrestle frantically, the boy discovered that his parents' profession was a reliable companion to poodle around with. He could be anything, a gloomy prince, a famished beggar, a stark raving mad fool, a ridiculously gallant knight. Roland spent a considerable portion of his childhood mimicking people, performing unscripted roles, practically acting the maggot in exchange for laughs and applause. It was a good trade.
Growing up -ah, but only a bit- he discovered other simple joys a boy could find in everyday life. Dover was a relatively small town, meaning the minted, cemented-minded, and demented representatives of a foul class had yet to manage to flatten trees and greenery with a bulldozer, only to bastardise all-honouring nature by turning it into plots of profitable lands. Blessed by their non-arrival, Roland belonged to the dwindling number of children growing up with trees to climb. Not infrequently did he tumble from these trees he climbed up with an almost evolutionary fervour. Yet in every one of these moments, he found his way of coping in what unfolded upon the stage he watched with his terribly blue, even more terribly enchanted eyes. When his arm was put in a cast, he imagined himself as a veteran, and when his knee bled, as a knight fallen off his horse.
His world was so enchanted, in a sense, by the imagination, mankind's greatest magic, that for a time his untrained mind could not even decide which kind of magic was superior. Muggles, how desperately yet how hopefully, had created a (seemingly) magical world on stage and in books, with their bare hands, and whenever life showed its ugly face or fate stung them like a scorpion, they would take refuge in it. Roland, frankly, could not stand the fact that wizards, with the powers they acquired as birthrights, called it non-magic. They all seemed to the boy like a handful of privileged overlords, unable to understand a kind of magic so genuinely artificial that you couldn't even doubt its reality.

From a young age, people around Riley often considered her quite beautiful. Perhaps it was her big sparkling eyes. Perhaps it was her dark brunette hair flowing just over her shoulders. Perhaps the way her lips curled into a small smile and lit up the room, but there something that drew all eyes to her. She even received compliments from her matrilineal relatives, which was an uncommon occurrence. Riley didnโt have any neighbors, so the only ones who saw her were her relatives. Her cousins often said she was quite pretty, and she was always very modest. โThank you.โ She would say, changing the subject after. Itโs not that Riley didnโt like being pretty, but she just didnโt think much of it. Almost luckily, Riley had received the best genes from both her mother and father. Rileyโs mother, Maura, had very similar features to Riley. She had dark hair and a petite figure, just like Riley. She also had a small nose and big eyes, but they were green. Riley got her blue eyes from her father. You see, blue eyes were almost a guarantee in her fatherโs family. One of her oldest relatives, Ophelia, was said to look quite like Riley actually. But no one knew if that was true, as she was alive about a century earlier. But what everyone knew she had, was blue eyes. So here Riley was, generations later, with the same beautiful eyes. As Riley got older, she got more pretty. Riley was still quite petite, yet she was more mature now. About a year prior to coming to Hogwarts, Riley decided started changing her whole wardrobe and became quite concentrated on how she looked. Of course, she still was quite beautiful. Now she was more confident in her looks and grew her hair out long. She had really light, almost invisible, freckles speckling her fair skin. And her sparkling blue eyes didnโt change a bit. She was not quite tall, standing at 144.78 centimeters (4โ9). She had a slim figure, and she was strong in her legs, despite them being a bit slender. Riley wanted to work on her strength in her arms for quidditch, but they were still a bit small. But it didnโt matter to her, because she did acquire some strength over the years. Riley was still complemented by her relatives, but she yearned to meet new people.

Blythe sits quietly at the Gryffindor table, tapping her utensils rhythmically on the surface. What an odd situationโsomeone familiar with the Muggle world suddenly exposed to the wizarding world. She tried to remind herself that she wasn't the only one isolated from the wizarding world, but she was still shocked by everything, and that didn't stop her from reflecting anyway. It was rare for her to think deeply, but here she was, sitting at the table in the Great Hall, rethinking her choice to be at Hogwarts.
She remembered how easy it was at a Muggle school. How simple Muggle life feltโno magic or potions at all. Life was straightforward, practical, and easy, with no need to remember spells or deal with magical creatures headache-inducing. At least, that was her opinion. She gave herself a shrug while everyone else was busy chatting at the table. After taking a few awkward glances, she continued her reflection.
Being surrounded by witches and wizards felt unusual, she muses. She recalls one or two students looking at her like sheโd committed a crime when she decided to climb a tree to retrieve a blown-away hat instead of using a spell to get it down easily. No, Blythe didn't have the patience of a saint to remember the spellโs name. She was also often clueless, asking lots of questions about the wizarding world, potions, spells, creatures, and structuresโeverything.
Even if she manages to master spellcasting someday, she would still prefer doing simple tasks without charms. If her wand is taken away and she can't do wandless magic, she would immediately scan her surroundings and use whatever object is nearby. Sure, it might seem odd for a wizard to put away their wand and handle things without it, but sheโs used to it, and it gets the job done faster. Itโs not that she hates it, she just doesn't default to it.
Her long moment of reflection was broken by a loud gurgle from her stomach. It was Blythe herselfโshe had spent so much time thinking instead of eating. Rather than asking someone for food or casting a spell for it, she stood up to grab some herself. It risked spilling drinks and shoving her seatmates, but she didn't think much about it. Her thoughts about how difficult it was to rely on magic for everything went on for a few more days. But over time, she started to accept itโaccept that she didnโt need to default to magic, and that would be okay. She decided to hold on to skills from both worlds.

ReducioThe woods were always my favorite place growing up. When Carl was still young (before we became the best of friends) and I was eight, the woods always seemed like a welcome diversion to a life centered around a younger brother. The woods werenโt really woods in the typical sense, being too small and occupied for a wood, but they were good enough for me. I would sneak outside and spend hours in the woods.
I learned to sit perfectly still for hours, watching deer graze from around a nearby tree only a few meters away. I learned to walk slowly and silently so as not to disturb the peaceful silence of the woods. A year or two later a new book series brought the silent movement skills into a new light. I actually tried to move silently and like a wraith through the woods, and I got to the point where I was so in tune with nature I could walk up (more or less) to herds of deer without them knowing I was there. My father and Carl hunted deer during hunting season, and Carl often shot at birds or other small game with his air rifle, but I never used my skills to hurt an animal.
Whenever my cousins came over, we always played capture the flag. It would be me and Carl vs Hazel and Easton, who were about our ages. I quickly became the seeker of the flag due to the way I somehow managed to move so silently and discreetly through the woods neither Easton nor Hazel could ever find me. I got to a point where even I didnโt know how I did it, but I accepted the talent as an irrevocable part of me.
My silent sneaking often led me to hiding in my house too, not just the woods. One late night snack run, my parents came into the kitchen. Iโve always been a little on the small side and years of playing hide-and-seek have led me to be able to fit into surprisingly small spaces. When my father came in, I panicked and silently hid myself in one of our fairly empty cupboards. This backfired of course when my father turned on the kitchen light and opened my cupboard to make himself some popcorn, but he didnโt hear me or see my panicked retreat into the cupboard, which is really all that matters right?

ReducioBlythe must admit the courses here are tricky. Memorizing is an easy task as long as you understand the material, and it's clearly the problem here. Spells and charms are much more difficult to understand and master compared to Muggle academic subjects. It was a pain, each attempt would end in a futile failure. Wandering around Hogwarts Grounds, she was met with a fellow student facing upwards with his wand pointed at the top of a tree. There it lies, his blown-away wizard hat. Blythe stood there in confusion, it was a humorous sight, at least to her. It was clear that he was attempting to use a levitation spell to get it down, and to his misfortune, it was not working. With a lack of patience and a hint of pity, Blythe had decided to lend a hand by climbing the tree and getting the hat down. It was risky, but it got the job done faster.
When lending the hat back to the boy, however, she was met with a face of pure bewilderment. In return, she cocks an eyebrow up, puzzled by the reaction. Without waiting for an explanation, she left him with his hat. Entering the Great Hall, Blythe sits down at the Gryffindor Table and meets with her chattering seatmates. It was loud in there, she doesnโt mind that, but it bothers her that her seatmates recall her previous stunt with the hat on the tree. Needless to say, they mentioned every time Blythe ditched using magic. The time she brought a calculator and a digital pocket scale during potion class, the time she does chores without magic, the list goes on.
She misses how straightforward the Muggle world is. There was no need to remember any spells, no need to deal with troublesome magical creatures, no need to write owls to others, and there would be no need to travel a whole moving staircase to get to the Gryffindor dorm. Then again, it was her personal opinion. She gave herself a physical shrug and a single, sharp huff. While itโs a trouble, there must be a certain convenience in her situation. Maybe being default to the Muggle world has its own perks, there could be a positive outlook and a fortune.
After a long period of time taken for the reflection, Blythe has snapped out of her thoughts by her groaning stomach. How many minutes just passed? She didnโt bother asking, immediately standing to find herself a plateful.

Since George was brought into the wizarding world at nine-and-a-half, he had realised that he had a rather special talent with broomsticks. He had climbed onto his dad's Firebolt for a bit of fun when he accidentally zoomed all around Hogsmeade, knocked an old witch's hat down, and tipped over half the Butterbeer tankards at the Hog's Head. However, he had managed to control the broom well and landed back at his courtyard.
He got his first-ever flying lesson from his dad, Leo Calder. It took him just one try to summon his broom. Then, however, he realised flying wasn't as easy as it seemed like. He had just a stroke of sheer dumb luck the previous day at Hogsmeade. He tried to fly 100 metres in a straight line, but managed just 50 metres before the broom flippedand turned left and crashed into a tree.
George thought, 'That's it.". He began saving his pocket money. He went to visit Diagon Alley with his mom and went to Flourish and Blotts. He picked up every single book with the names 'Flying, 'Quidditch, 'Broom', and 'Broom Racing' on them. The total was thirty two Galleons. But George didn't care. He pooled all his pocket money and bought all the books.
First thing he did when he went home was shut himself up. He persuaded his father to make his room's door Imperturbable. He began reading his new books, threw some karate moves he had learnt in his Muggle house at anyone who annoyed him or tried to steal them, and only let hid dad remove the Imperturbable Charm during meal-times. Within two months, he had finished reading and re-reading all the books six times.
Then the day came. He challenged his father to teach him Flying, to which his father reluctantly agreed. He picked the broom and flew straight on track for 500 metres. His father gave him a big test paper on Flying, where he received full marks.
His dad realised his son's knack at flying and taught him the Four-Point Charm, the Slippery Jinx, how to play Quidditch, how to play Broom Racing, the Hurling Hex, the Gripping charm, the Broom Jinx, the Floating Charm, and the Mobiliarbus Charm. By the time George was ten-and-a-half, he had learnt enough to achieve an 'A' in the Flying O.W.L.s.
Leo also taught George FARTs, Charm to Cure Reluctant Reversers, Ascendio Charm and Flashing Point Charm, before George attended Hogwarts. George too learned them eagerly. By the time he had his first Flying lesson, George knew all the basics and advanced stuff.
