Lemon grew up with only their single mother, who raised them alone. Their bond is incredible and her mum taught her to be as unique and different as they wanted to be, and that anyone who criticised them because of it wasn’t worth being friends with.
Lemon grew up with little money, but always managed to get by. They have 3 siblings: one older and two younger. They have always been close to their siblings, and they each have very strong personalities. Lemon's older sister is named Azora who, just like Lemon, is extremely easy to spot in a crowd with her red-red (not ginger) hair and signature black leather jacket. Her younger sister, Seraphina, has long blonde hair and loves animals. She is only a year younger than Lemon, and they have a strong friendship. Lemon's youngest sibling, Rowan, is 2 years younger than them, and loves all things to do with theatre and performance. Together, the four siblings and their mother, Emily, make up a family that Lemon is proud to be a part of.
Lemon has close to no memories of their father. He had left weeks after Rowan was born, and they haven't heard any news of him since. The memories they do have of their father are of him shouting at Emily, and they feel as though their upbringing would have been stressful and traumatic if he hadn't disappeared. Their mother, Emily, raised all 4 of her children in a happy and secure environment, and Lemon could never wish for anything else from her. Despite the inevitable struggles she faced, she remained fun and free-spirited.
Lemon and their family are Australian, and moved to England for their mother's job when Lemon was 7 years old.
Lemon first knew they were a witch when she accidentally caused a teapot to explode when she was just 8 years old, causing tea to be spilt everywhere. The house smelt heavenly for weeks afterwards.
They have always had a strong connection with animals. Since her family couldn’t afford to buy her a pet, she would take home stray cats and dogs and owls and whatever else they could get their hands on.

1. Your backstory is still 105 words. We require 220 words minimum for your backstory alone (without the First Instance of Magic). Please tell us more about your character. Perhaps you can tell us about Lemon's education and family (the name of her mom and her siblings, what is the job of her mom? Are the siblings all magical?)

Though she was outgoing and confident, Isabella liked to observe before speaking. Once she did, her sharp mind and quick wit made her someone people listened to and respected. She was always full of energy, ready to take on any challenge, and never backed down from a debate or a competition.
She was always surrounded by people, whether family, friends, or classmates, and she thrived in social settings. Even as a child, she had a strong sense of responsibility and loved organizing games, making plans, and keeping things in order.
From a young age, she learned about discipline, and leadership, setting her up for success long before her Hogwarts letter arrived. Whether playing with friends or learning new things, Isabella approached life with determination, charm, and an unshakable confidence.

Isabella Bernard’s first instance of magic happened at five years old during a family gathering. Determined to organize a game, she grew frustrated when older kids ignored her. As she crossed her arms in defiance, their chairs suddenly slid backward, making them stumble to their feet. Everyone froze, while Isabella stood tall, both shocked and triumphant.

Before he was even old enough to read, Aisling had always heard tales of future sight.
“It’s our legacy,” Da had told her. “Our family was built upon the ability to see how time was flowing. The ability to change it.”
“But how, Da?” The sparkling-eyed child that Aisling used to be had asked, glowing with curiosity. “How did they know what would happen?”
He had chuckled at the question. “Well, of course sometimes they would have visions ― ”
“I’m worried about her,” Mam whispered to her friend, clutching the crying child against her chest. “She was already crying for her father before the bludger even hit! I just… I just don’t understand. How could she have known?”
“ — some would have dreams — ”
At the age of seven, Aisling awoke from his dream teary-eyed, coughing and shaking.
“Aisling?” Their mother asked, entering the room with a Lumos lit on her wand. “Oh, sweetie, what’s wrong?”
“So much fire…” Was all she could whisper in answer; he would swear that the sensation of smoke still lingered in their throat, the heat of the flames still
lingering on his skin.
Mam’s eyes visibly softened in concern and sympathy. “A nightmare, then?” At their nod, she continued softly, “I’ll have an elf send up some Dreamless Sleep Potion, alright? Try to get some rest. You don’t want to be too tired to play with your cousin in the morning, right?”
That won a weak attempt at a chuckle. “No, Mam,” Aisling mumbled, letting her tuck him back in with a gentle smile.
“Sleep well, love,” whispered her mother, placing a gentle kiss on their forehead. “And remember: It wasn’t real.”
Why couldn’t it have stayed that way?
“ — and some, of course, simply had amazing intuition.”
“Don’t go.”
“What?” Niamh asked, glancing back at her younger cousin. Her younger cousin, who had grabbed onto her hand with a steel grip, a sharper gaze in their eyes than Niamh had really seen much from her since the fire.
“Don’t. Go.” Aisling repeated, narrowing his eyes.
“Ash, I can’t just skip school-” Niamh began, before her protests were cut off by the… Look in Aisling’s eyes. “Alright, alright! I’ll tell Auntie that I’m sick, or… Something.”
At that, a light smile crossed their face, his gaze softening. “Thank you, Niamh. Stay safe.”
And later that day? The Muggle paper warned about a gas leak in the very school he had warned her away from.
Aisling would look at the family tapestry, on occasion. While the original was permanently stuck on the wall of their ancestral home, of course, they still had a copy with them in Cavan. Dark vines covered the enchanted fabric, names and faces connected all along the stitched plant life; yet, she ignored most of them. There was a common trend, among the names he cared about along the vines: A simple symbol depicting an augury.
“Do you see that, Aisling?” His father had asked her as a child. “That bird, there? That’s an augury, and it’s been a symbol of our family for generations.”
It was used on the tapestry to mark their family’s Seers, she’d been told.
“Most of the Seers in our family tended to see the worst of the future, especially when they were young. They could find death omens anywhere,” he’d laughed. “Your grandmother always said that it was a symptom of being born in a Dark family, but do you know what I think?”
“What, Da?” The child had asked, wide-eyed at all the information she’d been getting.
“I think we went Dark because of the death omens. Why would our ancestors be scared of the Dark Arts causing death when they saw death either way? …Er… Don’t tell your mother that I said that. And no dark magic until you’re older, do you hear me?”
Naturally, Aisling had giggled at that, too young and naive to fully yet understand. “I hear you, Da!”
Years later, though, as they read the names alongside the bird’s symbol, Aisling would notice another trend upon that part of the tapestry: Nearly half of the girl Seers in the family shared his name.
“Your father said it was some sort of family tradition,” was the little that Mam could explain. “I never understood it myself, but they had some sort of idea that fate would work in their favor if they had a baby with your name every so often. Maybe with how good you came out, some part of that was right?”
And every so often Aisling would look at the ancestors who shared their name and wonder, `Will I have an augury too?`

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Aisling… Never really had many friends. After her father died in a professional Quidditch match when they were only five (and while she was in attendance, yikes), his mother had the two of them move to a predominantly Muggle town to be closer to her squib sister: Aisling’s aunt, Róisín. Suddenly, the only magical thing around them apart from themselves (and even Aisling himself was just an assumption) were the thestrals of the small herd hidden in a nearby forest. Suddenly, he was thought of as too ‘muggle’ for the other purebloods. Suddenly, she was friendless.
Of course, Aisling tried to make friends, but he didn’t exactly know… Well, anything about what the Muggles there liked! And so, their only real option was her cousin, Niamh. And actually? They got along great! And eventually, when Niamh woke up one day with white hair, it even turned out that she had magic! Now, instead of her being the only one showing Aisling her world, they could show her his world as well! Even without other friends in the community, Aisling was happy. As long as their cousin was by her side, everything was perfect.
…Until the fire, that is.
Yes, they both survived. And yes, it had the effect of having Niamh live with them. But did that mean much when Aunt Róisín and Uncle Conor had both died? Did it mean anything at all when the both of them were so, so close to dying themselves? Realizing just how close they were to death… It changed Aisling. He wasn’t scared of death, of course- having a Class XXXX beast only rated that high because of their association with death nuzzle your cheek is great at making you realize just how little you have to actually fear from that inevitable fate, after all- but near-death scenarios when you’re supposed to be safe are still life-changing. Especially when you could’ve been able to save somebody.

Extra that doesn't really fit with the rest but that I want to get okayed because I only came up with it last night & it wasn't in either my profile or my ency when they were okayed:
We know, thanks to Canon, that Voldemort is only the most feared Dark Lord in the past century. And of course, Grindelwald was part of that century, so we can't just claim that the phrasing is because of him. Therefore, there must have been other dark lords at least a century ago, right? So I have the idea that generations ago, there was a group of Pureblood Dark Witches who were against the current Dark Lord, but obviously couldn't just say that for risk of ruining their entire careers. So, they founded a sort of 'coven' I suppose, that I'm calling the New Moon Society. Basically, it was seen as a pseudo-political group where their members would host eight balls a year to 'gain supporters for their agendas', but it was really just a convoluted plot to make it so any chance to find their stance on the Dark Lord would come across as rude enough to ignore and a chance to plot ways to subtly help take him out without anyone realizing they were involved. Of course, these original members would be dead by now, and they're obviously not plotting to take out a dark lord when there isn't a Dark Lord around at the moment, but I imagine that their descendants, along with any other (mostly Pureblood) members who'd been brought into the fold, would still consider themselves to be part of the New Moon Society, hosting their eight yearly balls both in case a new Dark Lord might rise again, and to simply continue with tradition. And of course, I imagine Aisling's mother would happen to be a descendant of one of the original members, a fact that would definitely impact his expanded backstory when I finally get around to writing it.

In response to the edit requests, extra to the backstory that was in my profile and/or just already in my head when first writing the backstory:
Niamh's parents are Aisling's aunt, Róisín (a squib) and Aisling's uncle, Conor (a muggle). Neither of them are capable of magic, and until Niamh's first demonstration of magic at the age of six, Niamh was fully expected to be a squib as well, going to a muggle school as a result. After the fire, when Niamh came to live with Aisling, Aisling's mother didn't have all the records she deemed necessary to pull Niamh out of school in the middle of the school year, so she kept going to Muggle school for a while; Aisling's feeling of danger happened towards the end of that same school year. The fact of Niamh's parents also explains why nobody used magic to deal with the fire in the first place: nobody in the house was capable of using magic to put out the fire, it was a Muggle town so it's not like a random witch or wizard would just pop in out of nowhere and create a bunch of water to save two random kids, a squib, and a muggle (well, via apparition they theoretically could, but that would be an awful risk to the Statute of Secrecy- plus, how would they even know it was happening?), and while the forest was relatively close to Aisling's house, it wasn't close enough for his mother to hear about it in time (maybe she would smell the smoke after a while? Maybe she'd see the light?)
In the case of Aisling's father: He was a dark wizard (he didn't use the darkest of spells or anything, but he had no problems with using dark magic to try and protect him and his family), and the Beater on the other team was very much anti-dark wizard. What I had pictured in my head was a very hateful Beater hitting it directly at their father's head with the purposeful intent to cause a fatal, or at the very least severe, injury. If that still doesn't seem at all feasible (although Quidditch deaths are rare, not impossible), I suppose somebody (not necessarily the Beater who actually hit him with the bludger) could have cursed it beforehand?
In reference to the Class XXXX Beast: I am referring to thestrals. As established in my profile, Aisling's mother is a magiczoologist specializing in the study of thestrals, and I've also established that a small herd of thestrals was hidden in the forest; it isn't entirely unreasonable for his mother to have introduced Aisling to the thestrals, especially if she had found one that seemed especially docile.

First Instance of Magic:

It had been a perfectly ordinary night. His mother had been out in the forest studying the thestrals, and Aisling herself had been staying with Niamh. There was nothing out of the ordinary… So why did it go so wrong?
It started simple. The cousins were hungry, so they’d decided to have a midnight snack. But, unfortunately, they made the grave mistake of having Aisling make the food… Because having a seven-year-old Pureblood cook the Muggle way is just an amazing idea, right? Yeah… It should be obvious that they left the stove unattended, and before long? Well, the house was set ablaze, of course.
The first emotion that struck their minds? Panic. What else were they to feel when it was too hot to think, too hard to breathe in the smoke? What else were they supposed to feel, when they had no idea what to do? All they could do was try to huddle together in the corner, as far from the flames as they could, and try to survive. Aisling had accepted her own death as inevitable, at this moment. The moment he truly realized that death would come for everyone, even themself- but he wouldn’t accept it for their dear cousin. All they could do in that horrible, horrible moment was beg and plead for his mother to come and save her...
Neither of them noticed the way the flames refused to come near them, like a bubble of protection surrounding. Neither of them noticed Aisling’s first true use of accidental magic. Neither of them realized that the others in the house could have possibly been saved…
Not until it was too late, at least.
But hey. The children survived; and that’s what matters, isn’t it?

Regarding Stats:
- Please ensure your stats add up to 30 (they currently add to 31).
Regarding the Seer application:
- If Aisling is a pure-blood, why would their cousin have been going to a Muggle school? Please edit that out; there are likely other more realistic ways for Aisling to have demonstrated the Seer ability.
Regarding the backstory:
- Deaths in Quidditch would've been nearly impossible, especially in a professional Quidditch match. As only magical ailments and ailments given at birth cannot be cured by magic, it is unreasonable to assume that Aisling's father would have died from being hit by a bludger; likely, magic would have been able to cure it/stop it from being fatal.
- Please edit out the mention of 'having a Class XXXX beast'. For further information on that, please look here. Additionally, any questions on magical creatures can be answered by Sabine Blumenthal, our CoMC professor.
Regarding the backstory + FIOM:
- How did no one find out about the fire before things got so bad? Why was there no use of an extinguishing charm by an adult?
Regarding the extra things:
- I reached out to some other staff to get another set of eyes just to be sure. I'll get back to you regarding whether or not it'll be okayed.

STATUS: Pending, Zach Zaphiere, 10 March
Reason for Pending:
1. Please write your application for Parselmouth to be Paul before he enrolled to Hogwarts. It's also better to not make anyone know about Parselmmouth because in the lore, the talent is supposed to be hidden since it's related to dark wizards. It is included the muggles because they are prohibited to know about wizarding world.
2. Please tell us more about Paul. The requirement for the backstory is 220 words (while your backstory is still 117 words). We don't count physical appearance, mental description, and first instance of magic. I suggest you to tell us about his parent (who are they? what do they do for living?) and Paul's education before Hogwarts (How is Paul's life when he is in the muggle school? How is his friends? Does Paul like his school?)
3. The First Instance of Magic cannot be the form of Apparition due to our lore. You can add a little bit in the first instance of magic that Paul moved fast to avoid the hole or moved slow so his father could help him before he fall.

Before I got my letter to Hogwarts I lived in Cahersiveen in county Kerry, which is in the south of Ireland near Dingle. We live right by the sea so we would go swimming really early on the weekends and sometimes early on school days. I can see the sea from my window and one time I saw the biggest wave ever when there was a really bad storm! My Grandparents live really close to us (just up the hill) as well so we visit them a lot. We wouls spend alot of our time in town in the market house and our favourite cafe, Cafe Bari, and I would visit my cousin alot who lives at the edge of town. They own the campsite and they live right next to it. I used to go to Scoil on Fhaill Mor with my cousin and we (me and my cousin) would play Irish football for St. Mary's, which is also the club my Dad used to play for. My brother and sister go to Coláiste na sceilg, which is the secondary school, that is the closest to our house. I would have gone to it if I didn't get my letter for Hogwarts! My parents work for a little corner shop called banks, witch sells the best sweets and ice cream!

The first time I did magic was when my teacher at school gave us all so much homework for the next day! We had to finish the book we were reading in class and then answer questions in our notebook but the questions were so hard and you really had to think a lot. I was getting really annoyed on the 7th question when my Mun called me for dinner. I shouted back down that I had to finish my homework but she said I could do it later. We started shouting at each other so my Mum came upstairs took the piece of paper and I got so annoyed that it flew out of her hand and ripped itself up. We were so shocked that we didn't say anything about.

Character Backstory:
Elryen Yu is the kind of person everyone likes but no one really knows. He’s got an easygoing, charismatic presence, always quick with a joke, always the one who makes conversations flow effortlessly. People gravitate toward him, but if you asked them anything real about him, they wouldn’t have much to say. But that’s exactly how he likes it.
Born into a well-established pure-blood family, Elryen grew up with a lot of freedom but not much attention. His mother, a high-ranking figure in magical law, and his father, a researcher of ancient spells, were always too busy to worry about him. Not in a neglectful way—just in a “he’ll be fine” kind of way. And to be fair, they weren’t wrong. Elryen never struggled with magic. He picked things up quickly, had a natural instinct for spells, and always seemed to be a step ahead of his peers. But unlike the kids who boasted about their talent, he never made a big deal out of it.
His reputation at school is solid—friendly, sharp, a little too good at slipping out of trouble when he needs to. He never gets too close to people, never lets anyone in far enough to see that even in a room full of friends, he still feels like an afterthought. His natural charm makes it easy to float between groups, never tied down, never fully part of anything. It’s not that he minds, really. Surface-level friendships are easy. They don’t ask questions. They don’t expect anything.
Still, there’s something about him that feels just a little off—like he’s holding back, like there’s something more under the surface that no one’s quite managed to figure out. And if they ever do? Well, Elryen’s always been good at keeping things just out of reach.
First Instance of Magic:
When he was 5, he was chasing a butterfly in the garden but couldn't catch it so he was frustrated/angry and yelled at it to stop and it froze mid-air, but the magic didn't last long and was gone after a few seconds.

- Date of Birth: For your character to be a first year at Hogwarts during the 2024-2025 academic school year, they must be born between September 2012 and August 2013. Please change your character's date of birth accordingly to reflect this.
- the Background Story we ask for, is about how Elryen's life was like before Hogwarts. You mention the use of magic and spells ("Elryen never struggled with magic. He picked things up quickly, had a natural instinct for spells, and always seemed to be a step ahead of his peers.") but before Hogwarts he wouldn't be able to perform spells and intentional magic. We do have lore about school system, before Hogwarts, you can read about it here: Link! Young wizards would have subjects about magic and the wizarding world, but they would not be doing magic.
- For me to be able to approve your encyclopedia, I also need you to make a Trunk post. You can read about it here: Link!

ReducioYuki has never questioned her origins. She knows her mother, Adelaïde, is a stunning woman—almost unnaturally so. With her striking green eyes, flawless features, and graceful movements, she draws attention without even trying. Her father, Archie, often jokes that she can silence an entire room just by walking in. Yuki has seen it happen—strangers pausing mid-conversation to stare at her, their expressions wavering between admiration and something else—something closer to fascination.
But to Yuki, Adelaïde is simply her mother. Beautiful, yes, but she has never thought of her as anything other than an ordinary witch. A talented woman, a loving yet sometimes distant mother, and most of all, someone who rarely talks about her past. Yuki grew up believing that her maternal grandparents passed away when she was a child. There are no pictures of them in the house, no letters, no heirlooms—just vague mentions of loss and moving forward. She never thought to question it.
Her father, Archie, is easier to understand. A pure-blood wizard, warm and reassuring, the kind of person who can make anyone feel at ease. Unlike Adelaïde, who almost seems otherworldly, Archie is grounded—his curly hair and natural smile a stark contrast to his wife’s effortless elegance. Yuki has inherited his calm nature, his observant and thoughtful side, yet people often say she looks more like her mother. It’s a compliment, she supposes, though sometimes, when she hears it, she catches a strange look in her brother Brian’s eyes. As if he knows something she doesn’t.
For as long as she can remember, Yuki has been fascinated by Veela. As a child, she was drawn to their stories—these creatures of supernatural beauty, capable of enchanting those who dared to meet their gaze. She read books about them, heard tales of their mesmerizing charm and the inexplicable effect they had on people. There was something almost magical about them—beyond even the magic of wizards. But they were rare, distant figures, almost mythical. Never, not even for a second, did she imagine that she might share even a drop of their blood.
And yet, there are things about herself that she cannot explain. The way people are naturally drawn to her, even when she does nothing to seek attention. Her ability to persuade without raising her voice, or the fact that in a crowded room, she never has to fight to be noticed—people simply notice her. She has always assumed it was luck, or perhaps just natural charisma. After all, she’s not the type to seek the spotlight. But sometimes, she wonders if there’s something more to it.
There are moments—fleeting but unsettling—where she feels like something is being kept from her. Conversations between her parents that stop abruptly when she enters the room. Whispered exchanges between Brian and their mother, ending in tense silence. And then, there are the strangers—people she has never met before—who react to her in a way that feels… odd. Almost as if they recognize something in her that she herself cannot see.
But Yuki doesn’t ask questions. She doesn’t try to fill in the blanks of her family’s history, doesn’t push when her mother changes the subject. She doesn’t see the point. After all, some truths are better left in the past.
Or so she believes.
Character Backstory: (279 words)
Yuki was born on a calm and sunny Sunday morning in February. His mother and father, Adelaïde and Archie Delmotte, are two respectable and modest people.
Both wizards, their parents were great friends and they had grown up together, in the secrecy of the magic surrounding their two families. They passed on their modesty and humility to their daughter.
Her parents wondered where this wisdom and this incredible maturity for a child of her age came from. She never opposed them and if she did, she did not undermine their opinion.
She still remained a child full of energy, which reassured them a little. She also has an older brother Brian, being two years older than her, to whom she has deep admiration and love. He is an equally calm and respectful boy with whom she sometimes spends her time with him listening to the books he reads to her.
Yuki and her family live in Galway, Ireland, in a secluded little spot by the beach.
Despite being a witch, her parents decided to enroll her in Muggle elementary schools. They wanted their daughter to be able to adapt anywhere, regardless of the people around her. However, this experience was difficult for her because the other children found her strange.
Yuki is a little girl with light eyes and brown hair. Her hair is wavy and short. She has clear skin and pink thin lips. She has well-defined brown eyebrows and a right nose. She is 1.45 meters tall and of normal build.
Her eyes are very expressive. She is also quite athletic, due to the fact that she has been swimming and dancing since she was very young.
First Instance of Magic: The first manifestation of her identity as a witch took place on a beautiful summer day. Yuki was six years old at the time and was sitting on the ground playing when she brought an electrifying blue tulip out from under the ground. Her mother being near her at this time understood that she had inherited the witch origins of her parents.

Born on October 30th, 2012, Thaniel grew up on the outskirts of Glasgow. He, his father, Callum, and his mother, Isla, lived together in his paternal grandfather's large stately manor. His grandfather, Alastair Finn, had purchased the home with his wife before the birth of his son Callum. Alastair, wishing for many children, had dreamed of filling the 16-bedroom manor with his children and grandchildren, but he tragically lost his wife during the birth of his first son and Thaniel's father, Callum. As his father grew older, he vowed to follow in his father's footsteps and decided he, too, would populate the home with his own family. Sadly, like his father, he was met with a similar fate. After Thaniel's birth, his mother lost her ability to produce children, and the family remained humble and small.
Callum and Isla are incredible and hard-working parents. Callum is a highly motivated and respected botanist. At age 45, he works tirelessly with magical plants and herbs, which he uses to not only supply stores in Diagon Alley and Hogsmead but also to create magical medicines for wizarding folk around the world, a business that his grandfather started years ago in his early 20s. Callum has dedicated his life to living up to his father's expectations, tirelessly ensuring the continuation and success of the family business.
Thaniel's mother, Isla, is younger than his father at only 35 years old. She is tall and beautiful with curly black hair that forms a widow's peak above her curved, pointy eyebrows. Isla's face is narrow and kind, possessing the incredible ability to brighten any room with her radiant smile. Callum often called her "his veela," a sentiment that would never fail to embarrass Thaniel, but he was happy to have parents who shared such strong love for one another.
Though very kind and pleasant, Thaniel's parents are quite strict and rarely allow his attendance at social gatherings beyond close relatives and family. Instead, Thaniel is expected to, and quite happy to, spend his free time helping his father in his massive garden of magical plants and herbs. He loves helping his father as much as he loves the plants themselves, and by 7 years old, he could recite the binomial names of nearly 50 plants and their basic uses - knowledge his father loved quizzing him on around the dinner table in front of his grandfather.
Thaniel is expected to rise early, and every day, he is awoken with a written agenda that outlines every minute of his day. Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as chore time, study time, and playtime was scheduled, which, though it wasn't his favorite, his father would sometimes fly with him on his broom, and they would pretend to play Quidditch, a sport that Alastair, Callum, and Thaniel loved equally.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Thaniel's grandfather, Alastair, always insisted that Thaniel would play Seeker for The Pride of Portree when he grew up, a declaration strengthened by Thaniel's first instance of magic. On his sixth birthday, his mother and father playfully agreed to a one-on-two Quidditch match. Though it was nothing like real quidditch, it was still one of the most exciting and memorable experiences ever.
Thaniel rode with his father on his broom, sitting tightly in the front between his father's legs. He grasped the broomstick tight as they rose slowly into the air; his father being careful to keep his arms locked tightly around him. He could see his mother waving excitedly from the other side of the courtyard, and his father dared him to let go with one hand and give her a little wave. Thaniel tried to lift his hands from the broomstick, but the fear took over him and they quickly reattached themselves to the broomstick.
He laughed as his father pushed the broomstick slowly forward and they began moving around the side of the courtyard towards his mother. He could see his mother smiling as she came slowly towards them, holding up the red plush "quaffle" his grandfather had gotten him for his birthday. She gave the ball a gentle toss as she passed them on her broom. Thaniel's dad lightly swooped the broom down and caught the ball without ever unlocking his arms from around him.
Thaniel laughed while his father enticed him to take the plushie from him. He was terrified but after a second, he reluctantly released one hand from the broom and took hold of the soft fabric of the quaffle. He felt unstable but as his mother rounded the courtyard again, he gently tossed the ball back and watched as his mother struggled to catch it. She nearly lost it, but ultimately caught it by a pinch of fabric.
Thaniel did it! He could hear his grandfather cheering loudly below them, "You did it! This time try catching it!" Thaniel got so excited he stopped thinking about how scared he was and lifted both hands off the broom as they rounded the courtyard again, his mother quickly approaching. She raised the ball and held it up to toss it, only this time, she tossed it harder. Faster. Thaniel's eyes grew big with panic as he reached for the ball, it grazing his finger tips almost in slow motion. He felt his father's arms release from around him as he, too, tried to catch the ball, and as he leaned to grab it from the air, Thaniel was pushed off the broom with nothing to hold him in place.
Falling to the ground seemed to take forever. What should have happened in a split second felt more like minutes, all the while, the fear and terror lasted prominently behind his tightly shut eyes. He heard his mother call for his grandfather but it had all happened so quickly. It was too late for anyone to help him. There was a loud crack as Thaniel hit the ground and he knew it was the sound of his bones breaking.
Expecting the worst, Thaniel opened his eyes to find he wasn't injured at all. Instead, he was lying atop a large soft red plushie - the quaffle! Not only had he caught it, he had somehow managed to turn it so large, that he was safely nestled within its warm embrace.
"Looks... like... he caught... the quaffle..." his mother spoke through her short breaths.
"More like, it caught him." His grandfather laughed.

Hikari was born to a Japanese wizard father and a British witch mother, both of who work in magical research. Her father is an expert in Japanese magic and is always trying to find new things about it even while in england ! while her mother is a historian focused on European magical texts. Growing up, she was exposed to the magical traditions of Europe by her mother ! But exposed to some Asian tradition's from her father !!
She moved to Derby when she wasn't even but her parents and siblings struggled with adjusting to the new environment, feeling caught between two cultures. Hikari's family moved to Derby, England, 4 months before she was born due to her mother, Eleanor Whitmore, receiving a research position at the Department of Magical Artefacts in the British Ministry of Magic. Eleanor is trained as a expert in the study of ancient enchanted objects, and she was offered the opportunity to work on a groundbreaking project involving lost magical relics from the medieval era, this excited her and she immediately took it as a wonderful opratunity
Her father, Daichi Takahashi, a expert in Eastern magical traditions and Japanese spiritual magic, wasn't really excited about the move since he was just promoted not even two months before the moved and was deeply involved in his research in Japan working at mahoutokoto. but, he decided to relocate with his family, believing that the move could provide Hikari with more magical opportunities.
For Hikari, the transition wasn't difficult as she wasn't even born when they moved so it was okay for her since she was born in england! Though she is deeply admired in her father’s teachings and the magical community of her fathers home. She didn't speak English fluently so it was kinda hard living in this place, her parents speak fluent Japanese so that's what she knows best, her mom speaks fluent English though to. She also has 8 Siblings , Akira Takahashi he is 22, and lives in Japan as a auror in training / Mei Takahashi, she is 20, and is a Magical Creature Caretaker (Japan) ! / Haruto Takahashi, he is 18 and a seventh year as a Hogwarts gryffindor! / Yumi Takahashi she is 16 and a 6th year Hogwarts Slytherin !! / Riku Takahashi is 14 and he's a 4th year gryffindor at hogwarts !! / Kaito Takahashi is 12 he is a 2nd year Slytherin at hogwarts ! / Natsuki Takahashi is 10 ! he is homeschooled by their parents ! / and than the smallest Haruna Takahashi she is 8 and is homeschooled as well !!

Hikari Takahashi’s first instinctive use of magic happened when she was just 6 years old, she was on a tire swing they had in their backyard, but she lost balance before she hit the ground it was like she levitated than fell soft on the ground, she ran back inside and told her parents what had happened and they praise her for it!

You know vampires, dhampir, and those such things, hikari thought were just myths, fairy tales. Never thought her father was one or her siblings were part vamprie? like that would be highly weird. though she also thought It was weird that out in sunlight maybe after a hour or so, her skin started to burn and her father would yell at her to come inside, which sucked since she liked being outside in nature, so that was a minus 1 for her, plus she cant even remember the last time she saw her father leave the house, with out wearing a jacket & hood, even if it was like 80 degrees, her mom seemed fine didn't have the things she had, but as she looked more all her sibling had the same or more traits than she had.
Hikari sighed as she sat in her room, listening to calm and relaxing music to help her calm her thoughts, when her brother 11 year old brother who had just gotten his Hogwarts letter, Kaito walked in and threw one of books about ' Vampires, dhampirs, Giants, and such... ' he shook his head than spoke in a slight annoyed tone " Since they haven't told you. Read up on that. " he said leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed wearing a red jacket with a white shirt underneath tucked into his jeans, hikari blink and than signed " What do you mean haven't told me?" She tilted her head as she signed those words to him. He just chuckled " You'll find out. Just read. " , he than left her room shutting the door behind him as he did, she thought for a moment debating on opening the book or not, she ended up opening the book, flipping through pages and stopping on one that said vampires and dhampirs, she didn't know why she was here with this book, reading this specific page. She didn't even think these were real? So why was she reading it. She sighed and looked through the page, her eybrows knitting together in disgust at something's but she paused when she read the part about sunlight sensitivity, I mean of course vampires and dhampirs have this its pretty normal for anyone to understand, but as reading on she realized that maybe they aren't a myth or legend like she thought they were. For crying out loud it said that dhampirs are those of a Vampire and human or another dhampirs and human. Realizing it, her father had all the things listed on this book, fangs, claws, sunlight sensitivity often worse than hers or her sibling's, she gasped slightly and than shut the book and mumbled " am I one of them...?" , she got up off her bed and walked to the living room to she her parents arguing, she couldn't quite hear them so she stepped closer that's when she heard the words that she needed " Daichi, when are you gonna tell Hikari she's not fully human!?" Her mother said loudly, her father, Daichi just crossed his arms and spoke stern " When the time is right, she's only 10. "
Hikari sighed and walked over to them and narrowed her eyes a bit " Well I know now. " she said crossing her arms like her father, " So when was the right time? Or would I have had to find out myself...oh wait I did. ", her father looked down at His daughter and sighed " Yeah, your a Dhampir, 50% of one cause your half human and half vampire. " , Eleanor, her mother looked at the both and smiled slightly " Well I should get going!! Goodbye. " she walked off, hikari watched her mother than looked at her dad " Well at least I'm not in the dark anymore..."

ReducioFirst Instance of Magic: 254 wordsRosalina grew up in a townhouse right outside of Colchester, England. Her parents are Muggle-born, so she doesn't know much about the magical world. Rose was an excellent student and continued to grow her knowledge outside of school. In her free time that wasn't spent at the library, you could find her in the field behind her house, inside snuggled up with a book, or trying new hobbies like coloring. Her parents are older than most but have been the most supportive people in Rose's life. She and her parents loved to travel whenever they had the chance. She's been to many countries but surprisingly hasn't seen much of her home country. Rose has been known for her anxious personality ever since she was a little girl. She can struggle with change but has developed some tools to help her attack challenges. While she still struggles with anxiety, she tries her best to overcome it and not let others see. When she turned eleven, she didn’t just receive a Hogwarts letter—her family was visited by a Hogwarts staff member who explained that she was a witch and what that meant for her future. Her parents were both amazed and supportive, though they had no way of guiding her beyond what little they learned from the visit. Without a way to connect with the wizarding community, Rosalina turned to books to learn as much as she could, devouring anything she could find about Hogwarts, magic, and the world she was about to enter. She was fascinated but also overwhelmed—everything felt so different, and for the first time, she truly felt like she existed between two worlds. She had never quite fit in with other kids at school, and as much as she wanted Hogwarts to be different, a part of her couldn’t shake the fear that she wouldn’t belong there either. However, Rose looks forward to the changes that she expects to experience with going to Hogwarts and hopes to finally find a place that feels like home—where she can let down her guard and grow.
ReducioWhen Rosalina was roughly eight-years-old, she got her first taste of magic. At the time she didn't understand that it was magic, but whatever it was, she was enthralled. It happened on a fall afternoon in the field behind her home. There were all kinds of fallen leaves and Rose loved to sit out there with a book and take in the beauty of the natural world. A sudden, sharp noise shattered the calm—a loud bark from the neighbor’s dog. Rosalina hadn’t realized the dog was there, and the unexpected sound startled her so much that she gasped and flinched back, her heart pounding. At that exact moment, a strong gust of wind rushed through the yard, spiraling around her in a sudden burst of energy. The pile of leaves she had been playing with shot into the air, swirling wildly as if caught in a miniature tornado. Rose just watched with awe, unable to comprehend what was going on. In a split second all the leaves fell to the ground and the world was quiet and still again. Rose spun around hoping that someone else witnessed this extraordinary event, but there was no one else. Unsure if what she saw was real, Rosalina never spoke about the instance to anyone, not even her parents. It felt very sacred to her and she was afraid that if she told them they would convince her that it was all in her head. More than anything in the world, she didn't want that to be true.
STATUS: Pending, Lesmana, 12 March
Reason for Pending:
1) All muggle-born students don't receive the acceptance letter from Hogwarts only. They are visited by the staff of Hogwarts who would explain to Rosalina and her family about being a wizard/witch. Please edit the part when she got the letter so it will be in line with the lore.
2) You mentioned that her parents told Rosalina to explore her new world. Please tell us more about it. Perhaps it can be read through books. One thing you should be aware of, since her parents are all muggles, they can't find any wizarding community outside of Diagon Alley where they would buy Rosalina's school supplies.
3) The First Instance of Magic should be accidental, which means you can't make your character try controlling the leaf after seeing the peculiar behavior from the leaf. Another alternative I can suggest is to create a small gust of wind that makes the leaves fly, because he was surprised by something or anything, as long as it doesn't show any control from your character. Further lore about First Instance of Magic can be read here.
