Monica awoke.. Another day at sea... and it seems that suspicious were proven to be correct. Once joining the rest of the ship members on deck, another body was discovered. No sooner did heads turn to the new appointed leader, and to be honest, Monica's head also turned in that direction. If there was ever a time for leadership, for someone to step in to bring justice and safety back to this voyage, it should be the person that everyone voted to take charge.

Monica stood in the crowd, listening to the accusations floating around. She didn't see anything happen, nor hear a peep all night. She had next to nothing to go on, and could only rely on the accounts of those she shared the deck with.... Only how could you trust anyone here on this ship? Clearly the killer was among them. And there was no clear sign as to who that might be.
There were no close allies that Monica could lean on in this moment, just herself and her thoughts were the only sound mind she knew she could trust. But wait... Monica looked over to see Bea, a familiar face in this game, there was one person she could trust outside of herself. At least that was the hope in it. They had come on the ship together, there had to be some level of mutual bond in that... hadn't there?

Monica made her way to stand closer to Beatrice. If there was ever a time to reach out it was now, in the sea of confusion, and throwing of blame, this was the closest thing to comfort she had to cling on to, praying that in doing so, she wasn't making a huge mistake.

Votes started coming in, a choice had to be made, who was going to be held responsible and be kicked off this ship, in the hopes of making it through the seas in one piece? Word was traveling around of the culprit being a werewolf, but Monica had to agree, at this point it didn't matter what the thing was, just that they were found. Some one had to pay for this crime.....Only going off what seemed to be where the wind was blowing, Monica made a choice, voting along with what she felt the consensus to be... better to be on the crowd side, than none at all.

Emma shrugged at Akira's and then Charles comments. "Fair enough. I wonder how they'll be chosen. I'd speculate who but I think that's the point of the game really."

Emma smiled thankfully at Akira's and Charles comments, grateful that they didn't think she was too bizarre for suggesting something like that and not necessarily the siblings that would make more sense, especially considering they weren't far off in ages in reality. And honestly, sometimes she did feel a bit like the mom of groups, if only because she was more concerned about rule breaking than most. She was even more grateful when Astrid chimed in. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad and she could make some friendly acquaintance or maybe they would bond over the game and become friends. who knew? Certainly not Emma and she wouldn't put any pressure on anyone. "Alright, thank you, I'm glad you all didn't think that was a bit weird. Hmmmmm.....I think Elsie is a good name for a strange old aunt."
Elsie had followed the three siblings to make sure no harm befell them (and because admittedly a little adventure was needed but she'd never admit that.) Truthfully she hadn't expected such fanfare and death to follow them on the ship. She had just thought that the worse would be some seasickness but it seemed she was wrong.

Biting her lip, Emma had nothing to add about suspicions really, as she didn't know many people. She thought things over carefully and only said something when she was comfortable. Taking a few moments, she took a small breath, and said "But could it be that he wouldn't kill her even if a wolf because they'd be the most obvious suspect?"

Emma grinned before getting back into character, trying to change her lilting irish accent into a bit more british posh, though honestly she was awful at accents. "I'll say. The village was safer and I told you all that we should have stayed home! Now we're stuck on this darned boat with a murderer and we'll all be killed." Clutching at her neck where her pearls normally sat, Elsie screeched. "And thieves! These sailors are all a bunch of no good thieves!" Elsie didn't feel faint at all, but swept at her brow to wipe away the non-existant sweat

Emma decided that she had no thoughts on who to vote for right now so instead she'd stick with the group. She had shared her thoughts about it but really had no idea on who it could be and so went with the group. If she figured something else out then she'd state that later.

EmmaLee "awoke" again to the sound of everyone conversing over the newly "dead" body. It seems that Rita had not made it past the first round and Sophia, the um, blue haired pirate captain, was chosen for the leader. EmmaLee frowned. It wasn't ever fun to be out in the first few rounds, but at least them you got to find out everything quicker. She pondered for a moment if she preferred finding out faster or winning as she walked over to the body. It didn't matter, she had a game to play.

Once she was near the body, she took the same crouched position as before and inspected the wounds. She pulled the three parts of her hair into one pony tail and turned her head this way and that to look at all of the damage.

Out of game character, she marveled at the craftsmanship that magic could make. She was sure that anyone who didn't know what was going on would sure think that some child had died a horrific death upon this boat in the middle of a glorified soccer field. She stood up and turned to speak to the boy who had protested about werewolves earlier, Aryaan.

"Well, do you think it isn't a werewolve now?" She asked him with a raised eyebrow gesturing towards the various gashes. Her very real tiredness was making her accent lazy and turning her English 'f's into 'v's. "It is likely more than one. The question is, are they hiding by being outspoken or are they hiding in the shadows?"

EmmaLee moved into her elaborate thinking pose again and looked around at everyone. She heard everyone else's points of view and decided with a few others that maybe silence wasn't very golden although the protester was a closer second.

Della woke up later than her cabinmates, though it was odd she missed so much commotion: A member of the crew was dead.

Della didn't know the girl well, but it was nightmarish to witness a body on the deck like that. Most of the crew was already gathered around, pointing fingers, and figuring out who should walk the plank. What terrible monster would do this? Della wiped the crust from her eyes and carefully examined the people around her, looking for any clue as to who or what could have done this.

But immediately, she was distracted by people calling out their pirate names. This might be more important still—she had to think of a good one. She heard her fellow racer, Xailah, introduce herself as the Duchess. In response, Della nodded to her, "Ahoy, Duchess! You can call me Long Dell Silver!"

While Della—ahem, Silver—was thinking of her name, the tide of accusations was ebbing between Aurelia and Aryaan. (did they have new names? Silver wasn't sure.)

She added her two cents since she had been quiet the previous day and had offered no thoughts during the captain vote—it was better to be involved in the decisions concerning their fate, than not. "After hearing everyone's points, I would have to say the evidence is a teeny bit stronger toward Aryaan. Though, I think hearing what he has to say for himself might make me change my vote."

Vote: Aryaan Shamsi

The next day the Wolfs had striked again. There target was Rita Su. Quinn couldn't look at it for to long, she quickly took a glance. "dam it." she mumbled under her breath. it was a part of the game. She knew that. This girl wasn't really dead. It was a game. Another deep breath she walked to the side of the ship, to give herself a small pep talk. And actually convince herself that she wasn't dead.

She put her hands on her face and sighed. "Its just a game Quinn... She's not actually dead. You need to suck it up, cry an it later. If you do it now you'll embarrass yourself. That would be really bad. Because.. Well- you know." She didn't want to say it out loud the reason would be her hair or eyes changing. That would probably make her cry more, and feel more embarrassed. "focus." that was all she needed to do.

Yes. She believed she could make it through this. If she pushed her tears down. That would be what she did. She put in a brave face, looking more monotone then anything else. And walked back to the group. Nodding in agreement to a few statements. She would cast her own vote for someone. Mostly the person she heard a few people talking about, as she wasn't paying to much attention to any thing else.

DAY 1 - directly before night time
Most of the day was spent amongst those on board discussing and arguing over who was responsible for Rita's death the previous night. Many accusations were thrown about with 4 names in particular being spoken, out of the nineteen remaining people on board the ship. Pax got 1 vote. Hunter received 2 votes. Aurelia got 5 votes. Aryaan received 9 votes. It seemed as if the majority of people were going after Aryaan for some reason.

Could he have been responsible for Rita's death? Or was he innocent?

As time passed, so did Aryaan's time on board the ship. Not being able to convince the others to change their votes, by the end of the day he ended up with the most votes.

Apparently, people didn't think he was innocent and must have had something to do with Rita's death. As a result, Aryaan was chosen to walk the plank to his watery death. Unfortunately, as Aryaan was forced to walk the plank, he ended up revealing to everyone that he wasn't a wolf and was in fact a human and innocent of the crime. Those on board had just sent one of their own to their grave. Now, there were 13 humans and 5 wolves.

Hopefully, during the night, no one else would die.
DAY 2
Once more, night fell on board the Chaos Demon. Over the night, the wolves celebrated their success at being able to take out two humans already. Of course, they'd only eaten one but the humans had ended up taking out one of their own during the daytime too. It was rather amusing to witness them falling all over eachother to blame eachother for the crime. Perhaps history would repeat itself the following day when morning came. As it was, when the first rays of light hit the ship, Hunter's body would be found alone.

Unfortunately, he hadn't lived up to his name. He had become the hunted, rather than the other way around. It just went to show you that names weren't everything.

The wolves seemed to have this down, the only thing that remained was to find out whether history would repeat itself and the humans on board would make the same mistake twice in a row. How many humans would be left by the time the Chaos Demon docked again? Would there even be any left, or would the wolves emerge triumphant?

Only time would tell. Now it was time for the humans to vote again and try to find one of the wolves hiding in sheep's clothing to eliminate a part of the danger in their midst.

To reduce confusion: Xailah will respond and refer to herself by either her real name or her fake one. It depends on who she is talking to and whether or not they are in character. In my narrative she will still be refered to as her given name, regardless of dialogue.

Walters explanation about Aurelia were both reasonable and expected. He mostly expressed the exact things that would draw anyones concern. Xailah nodded along in agreement with most of what was said. Some things she found interesting- like his mention of Aurelia's lack of response when the first body was found. Was that considered suspicious behavior? Xailah hadn't the strongest reaction either, but that could have been explained by her upbringing. There were other things mentioned that warranted a light laugh- talk of the "weird feeling" that Aurelia had. From experience, Xailah knew that was just an Aurelia thing. Aurelia's overall unwillingness to engage with those present, was the one thing Xailah could completely understand as being off-putting. Aurelia was helping no one. Not even herself.

Walter shifted his concern to the new captain and her small gathering of scallywags. "Many among us are from the lower years. Watch them." Xailah waved an index finger between a few of Bluemanes voters, indicating to a general area. "They can't help but look to her. They're familiar with each other to some degree or another." Xailah reasoned. "They want to be lead by someone they know. But I agree. Nine votes. One of those nine must be hiding something."

Everything was going fine- everything was understood- up until Walter decided to flex his ability to speak a foreign language. Oh goodness, Italian? During a game where winning was reliant on ones ability to provide clear explanations? Xailah would have knocked the boy upside the head if he wasn't playing a character. It was pretty clear that communication was going to be a struggle from here onwards. Xailah was only fluent in English, German, and a little bit of latin. There were a few words and phrases from other languages, sprinkled about the corners of her mind- she could call someone a cheese omelette in french- mostly dialects her parents had encouraged her to learn, but only the useless things stuck. She turned to Walter with the most ridiculous painted expression. She could only look at him with this blank stare and empty, fading smile. She didn't need to say anything. Her face clearly said: I understood none of what you just said. Looking on the bright side, at least he could understand English, and she was pretty good at charades?

They didn't spend much time with niceties, names were exchanged and greetings were given. Tender coos were offered to the accompanying cat. How do you do, Rimmer? Splendid to make your acquaintance, Walter. Walter Wolf. The irony. This went on through fleeting glances, and careful motions indicating a hesitant willingness to cooperate. At the moment, gestures were enough to get messages across.

Xailah produced a calculating hum. Part of it expressed an attempt to decipher the unfamiliar language Walter had followed with, the other part was trying to figure out why he was looking for land. As he pointed towards the crow's nest, her mouth fell with a neutral weight. "So that is where you've been hiding." Her eyes narrowed in thought, as she spoke under her breath. "I haven't seen you below with the rest of us at night." She clarified. The phrasing could have come across as suspicion- which there was some- but she cared little for the real identity Walter could have been trying to hide. Because truthfully, she- er, Dutchess- wanted to get off this ship as much as he did. "I can't exactly blame you. It does get a tad stuffy." She said, grimacing. "And it's definitely not safe. The deck seems like a much nicer place to stay the night." A shrug lifted her shoulders, as she pondered further. Would if hurt if she didn't go below to sleep? Just for one night? Hm. She decided to dismiss the thought, allowing a new question to follow. "Say, what got you into this mess anyway? You seem to be far away from home."

Xailah met Walters wolfman act with a light chortle. Creases inched across the bridge of her nose in a line of humored crinkles. Alright, by the infliction in his voice it was obvious that he asked a question. A question about werewolves. But what question? There were two that came to mind: if she was a werewolf, or who she suspected. Judging by how Walter had looked towards the small gathering of crew members, Xailah figured he was asking the latter. Well, she hoped he was. She did not answer immediately. A gentle tip of her head made it obvious that she was mulling over the inquiry. After some thinking she decided to indulge him. Xailah kept the low tone she had been carrying with him. "Truthfully?" Her lips stretched into a firm line. Feline eyes shifted to the side, pointing the way to Captain Bluemane and her buddy Pax. "Our new captain, and her friend over there." She gestured slightly, head cocking with puppy like fashion in a "look but don't make it obvious" sort of way.

The introduction of a soft voice mimicking the intonations of a storybook pirate, made Xailah turn away from Walter. Beaming, she looked to greet the source of the familiar voice. "Ah!" She exclaimed, bringing her gloved hands together in a pleased manner. "Dell Silver! It is a pleasure." Miss Della would always be a welcome sight, no matter the place, circumstances... or the chance that she was a werewolf and would inevitably wind up killing her. "I've heard many a story about you, I hope you will be able to be of some aid to us." Xailah nodded, looking between the cub and Walter. "Walter and I were just discussing-" absentmindedly, she gestured to the boy with a hand, "-this is Walter, he doesn't speak English fluently-" perfect introduction, "- anywho, we were discussing who we thought was our killer. Or killers, there's a high chance that there is more than one, because someone should have seen something by now yet we haven't any reports." Xailah leaned to Silver the same way she did with Walter. "Pax and Bluemane, thats my guess, if there is more than one." And she was sure of this theory. That was until Pax themself had once again taken the stand- not to encourage another vote, but to explain themselves. Unexpectedly, they turned directly to Xailah, their silver tongue singling the lioness out. They knew they weren't trusted. They knew that she knew.

The call-out surprised her. Most would err on the side of politeness, but not Pax. They were straightforward. Xailah could appreciate that. Walter and Silver momentarily drifted into the background. Pax had the darkling's full attention, something that was made clear through an unwavering gold stare. Lips curled into what may have been the start of a simper. When the metamorph spoke, her voice audibly lifted, making it clear that her words were meant for Pax although others would be able to hear- should they choose to. "I do." She confirmed without much of a second thought. If the fellow lion could spot the truth through her subtle side leers, then there was no need to try to convince them otherwise. "If I were a wolf, and I wanted to take over the ship, I would kill the captain and put one of my own in his place." Xailah explained simply. Transparency was something to be mindful of, especially in a game like this one. It would either strengthen the bonds between allies, or it would be the shovel you wound up digging your grave with. In this instance, Xailah believed it was a necessity regardless of either outcome. Especially with the information that was to follow.

Pax was here to indulge, so Pax delivered. In fact, Pax was the only person who made an effort to convince the crew that they were not with the enemy. It was cruelly funny perhaps, considering those that were about to be condemned to walk the plank hadn't even made a peep to try and sway the rag-tag crew. Xailah didn't register this until much later, because the thing that would leave Pax's mouth was far too interesting to even focus on anyone else for the moment. Pax divulged that they had an important role- that they were a protector. An admittance that Xailah had not been expecting at all. Immediately, she began questioning the relationship between Pax and Bluemane. She would not say anything about the reveal just yet. For now she wanted to listen to the rest of what Pax had to share.

What would happen between the lions from there, was a very interesting exchange- not on the surface, but going a little deeper would unearth the mutual concern of being sent to the plank by the other. Pax spoke a lot, they were acute and to the point, this made Xailah wary. On the flip side, Xailah held a place of power, in age, above some onboard, a thing Pax was worried to go up against. They were reasonable concerns, but the more Pax spoke, the more Xailah realized that there was probably nothing about the other Gryffindor to actually worry about. As far as they were both concerned, there was a high probability that they were being two paranoid humans. Xailah listened to Pax attentively, raising an eyebrow at the cubs offer of protection. "That's a very big claim you've just made," she tipped her head curiously, "and a possible death sentence if it isn't a bluff." There was something about Pax that compelled Xailah to believe them- specifically the fact that they were the only one to share their role. There were no other claims for protector. For a moment, for Pax's own sake, Xailah hoped they were lying. Because they had painted a huge target over their head if they weren't. The wolves on deck were hardly what one would call stupid. They were mindlessly animalistic at best. Pax was going to be on their radar; and as soon as they got the chance, they would snuff them. Having someone around to protect the crew at night was likely the last thing they wanted.

The next morning only brought dismay to the ship and its crew. It was revealed that the shipmate they had collectively sent overboard was completely human, and the killings showed no sign of stopping. Another body was found- the body of Hunter. A waste of two lives. Such a pity.

Voting for Akira Shimizu, but Xailah is also suspicious of Bubba. This will be elaborated on in future posts (because this one is almost 3k words already  ).

Notebook

Reducio
Written in ink on sheets of parchment bound in thick twine. Supplies taken from the captains cabin when unoccupied perhaps. The writing is neat and concise. Should something happen during the night, the documents can be found on the authors body (by the first person to post in the morning, following her death- or whoever posts and claims it first).

It would appear Xailah has been taking notes.

[Entries are written from the point of view of her assumed character Dutchess, a creature from the deep who had been unwillingly taken aboard by the previous captain]

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────

There is something wrong with the ship and its crew. I've known this ever since the captain plucked me from the sea and took me captive, binding me to the ship. He has given me the name Dutchess. I want out, but I cannot leave this place without the word of the captain, or until the ship has been laid to rest. He has refused my freedom, so I have cursed his vessel. Though I think perhaps... I have gone too far this time. I thought it was a small price for him to pay for taking a siren and Sea Witch from her home. However, my selfishness may have jeopardized the innocents on board.

Day 1: Unexpectedly, the ship has claimed its first victim. We woke up to find the ships captain dead. Or should I say former captain. He appeared to have been mauled sometime during the night. I do not grieve this loss, however it has now made my return to sea trickier. I will now need my freedom granted by the new captain. I believe we picked up some bad folk when last in port. But who? And will they kill again? There's been rumor of werewolves on board... it matches up with the marks left on the captain. We had to pick a new leader. Piérre, Aurelia, and EmmaLee voted for me. Aryaan and I voted for Piérre (Aryaan had voted for EmmaLee prior to this). Rita and Sophia voted for Pax. Pax, Hunter, Quinn, Akira, Vivienne, Beatrice, Emma, Avery, Florian, Astrid, and Nessie voted for Sophia to become the new captain. There was no further debate. I suspect Sophia may be a wolf, and Pax tends to act as Sophia's voice. Clearly some of those who voted did so to blend in. I hope you are prepared for what is to come, Captain Bluemane. (In entries going forward, known character names will be used to address players).

Day 2: There was another killing discovered in the morning. A crewmate this time- a young lady called Rita. She was quiet, the "wolves" must have been aware. She would have been an easy target for them. We decided that during the day we would try to weed out the wolves, by placing votes and sending the dogs overboard. Walter (Piérre) was the first to cast a vote- for Aurelia. When I questioned him, he said something about Aurelia disturbed him. I must admit, she does emit a feeling of unease. I voted for Aurelia as well, however I do question my vote. She has been awfully quiet though. Swashbuckler Florian, and EmmaLee also voted for Aurelia. I've been speaking with the young man Walter. I have decided to claim him as my first ally. Its a gamble, I am aware, but I think we may have use for one another. He wants to make it to land, and I want to be set back into the sea. He claims to have been residing in the crows nest. It would explain why I haven't seen him sleeping below with the rest of us. I have shared my concerns about Pax and Bluemane with him. Long Dell Silver (Della) has also captured my attention, I think I would like to make ties with her. While votes were being gathered, Pax made an interesting admittance. Somehow they sensed I did not trust them. They said they could protect themselves, or me. What that entails... I'm not quite sure. But it may help us both through the night, if they are telling the truth, that is. There have been no other claims to this "protector" role. Perhaps I was wrong bout Pax? And if I was, would that mean I was wrong about the new captain? I suppose the morning with tell whether or not they (Pax specifically) are with the wolves. I don't think I will be sleeping with the rest of the crew tonight. I will be heading to the deck. It's not safe below.

I find it important to note that some crew members appeared to have made early enemies. Aryaan was quickly suspected to be the one who killed Rita. He was the last person to speak to her. Akira, Silver (Della), Quinn, Vivienne, Ella (Astrid/Anastasia), and Monica voted to make Aryaan walk the plank. There was an odd vote- however I do believe this one was personal- Bubba had thrown in his vote for Hunter. What I find even more interesting, is how none who were voted to leave the ship even made an attempted to defend their honor.

A brief note: Akira speaks with logic, however he felt the need to defend his reason for picking Bluemane as a captain. Interesting. Is he trying to hide the truth about something? Or maybe someone? He was also the first to point a finger at Aryaan.

Day 3: Aryann turned out to be human... the killings didn't stop. We found Hunter dead this morning.

A note for the wolves- if that is what you truly are- should you claim me in the middle of the night, know it was not a lamb you had cornered. I pity your condition, however pity cannot undo what was done. Know that I am now with you always as a plague. I am the voice that speaks to you from the shadows, the ghostly breath on the back of your neck, and the shade that always wanders in the corners of your vision. You may escape from this ship, but you will never escape the fate I have crafted for you.

Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....
