As a first year you cannot send people money and if you send them items, they will only get 80% of the item's worth upon selling it. Potato peels are the workaround, as they cost only 1 knut. You can find them in the apothecary shop in Diagon Alley

You can also purchase the Ravenclaw badge in your house’s common room; they’ve got the same resell value as potato peels.

Actually, there’s a thread to permanently delete your account, though it also leads to an IP ban. And this user’s question is many years old, so there’s no reason to bring it all the way back up again.
