To summarize:
- You need enough on hand money to buy your pet, this is not your total money.
- Write an RP post in magical menagerie with a minimum word count of 400 words.
- Once both of these are done, owl an HOH(head of house), you can find them in Out of character > Site information > Team

This process is actually different now from what was answered. Staff will make your iNPC's ency page for you, what you must do however is post your sign up and iNPC details with all the words in the sign-up thread for your school of choice.

I have two questions.
1) I was wondering, whether I missed a change in house point rewards for homework of previous years. does this not get any points anymore? I got two homework graded but no points were given as I just noticed.
2) When taking part in the ball activities, can I apply for a trunk update?
If not, is it sufficient to write that my character leaves and then apply for trunk updates?
