Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 1
Just when Aida’s hopes were rising, her spell blew up in her face, knocking her back across the room with full force. Wondering what happened, Aida’s nose filled with the scent of her own blood. Had she lost focus? Through the fog of getting back up again, Aida remembered that time she gave herself a concussion. In a gasp of fear, Aida realized that if she kept screwing up she might get knocked unconscious back into the hospital where the house elves had her at their mercy.
Without time to feel angry at herself, an animal imperative to make it through overcame Aida. Through tunnel vision everything but her targets faded to black. She didn’t even notice Phaedra’s miss. Throat tightening, all cognitive thoughts disappeared as she began to fight using pure instinct.

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 1
Alan had luckily caught on in the horrible shape Galton was in, still aflame and also wheezing painfully from the laughing spell. None of what seemed comfortable in any sort, so he would channel his energy into a healing spell and was happy with his success. Galton appeared to be in a much better shape, now no longer in a critical condition and luckily the flames died down and he was no longer plagued by effects. Alan felt accomplished and had to notice that now they were finally on more even steps again. Aida would fail her spell, making it rebound towards herself whereas Phaedra failed to hit Galton. Almost as if she had been unable to predict his movement in the slightest or perhaps he just had predicted where she would have cast her spell. Not that it mattered now, Galton dodged and Alan was glad about that. Now they had to set their sights on a fast victory.

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 1
Galton was loose. Or looser than he had been. He had listened to his instincts and not been let down. He moved with the invisible wind of the room and almost floated out of the way of the Raven's spell. As he did his little dance he felt a wave of magical cool run over him. Alan. What a partner. Sure, his limbs still hurt, there was pain all over, but it had faded to aches and jolts rather than active deterioration of his self for tiny hands or flames. The flames could not handle the leaf.

Phaedra supposed she shouldn't have been too surprised that the boy dodged. He did look rather worse for wear, after all. What did surprise her was the sheer elegance at which he had done so, and subsequently, Aida's backfire after nine rounds with no issues. Perhaps the younger girl was getting tired—if not physically, then mentally from the monotony that this duel was turning out to be.Doing as strategized (x)

Alan continued on the front of keeping his teammate alive conscious. But Galton couldn't seem to catch a break. While Alan successfully healed him, Aida and Phaedra had it out for him.
Phaedra attacked both of them at once, using her spell spread. The jets of flames went bursting at the boys, hitting Alan easily and lighting him aflame. Galton was saved from her flames, only to be caught by Aida's. Perhaps he was spending too much time thinking about the other one to avoid this one?
Galton attempted to stop Aida from casting, but his Full Body-Bind Curse was dodged by the young Ravenclaw.

No thoughts flowed through Aida’s consciousness. All was as if in total silence around her as pure animal instinct took over. Galton’s curse flew as if in slow motion and Aida casually stepped aside. Pale arm rising as wordlessly as a sprig of bone-white birch from the soil, a spell flowed through Aida as if she were but a conduit of a greater universal push. Immaculate flames flew at Galton like a sunburst wave and struck hard. Aida’s owl friend, Scheherazade, broke from her perch-- startled-- and flew to another high corner of the room. With the flutter of feathers far away, Aida’s focus melted. Batting her eyelashes, she realized she had blacked out for a time. The enemies were burning and her team was no worse for wear. Tossing back her long snowy hair with her right hand, Aida wondered what had just happened.

A fire caught him, the flickering flame burning a hole into the sleeves of his uniform and leaving an uncomfortable sensation he despised. He narrowed his eyes ever so slightly as he ignored his immediate reflex to pat out the flame right away as he knew his next course of action would have to wait for Willow's sign to continue. He wondered how Galton and him had ended up on the defense, hoping they could turn it around soon. It was thrilling in a way, to be directly involved and having to do one's best to succeed and advance. They would have to prove themselves more so than before. They needed to eliminate their opponents and win this duel for their house.

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 1
Galton was tense. He'd forgotten what he'd just learned and let the anxiety and fear fill his body. He had failed to move as a leaf in the wind, and was burned for it. Literally. Galton was once again on fire. It make him he was still freshly doused in water, the flames hadn't been able to eat at him then. But the flames also distracted his thoughts from the failure that had been his aim. Galton could only hope he'd find his wind again.

It felt nice to land a hit herself rather than a shield doing the work for her (though she wasn't complaining). Together, the Ravenclaws sent flames hurling towards their opponents, lighting them both. Unlike her own, Aida's shone true. Just days ago, Phaedra questioned pairing with someone much younger, but now found herself reevaluating her judgment. Making a mental note for later that the girl was owed an apology, Phaedra smiled at the scene before her. They had them exactly where they wanted.Doing as strategized (x)
