Hogwarts Summer Camp  Capture the Base

Playing as Ilvermorny iNPC Phylicia Stanwood
Now this was what she was talking about. She was joined by one of the other extremely few Ilvermorny players on her dash to steal Base 2. Phyllis recognized him, although she couldn't put a name to the face, but it didn't matter. Two vs. one was exactly the advantage they needed to get Ilvermorny back in this game.

While the girl went for her teammate, she slipped right past and traded out the gold-colored flag for a lovely red one. Much better. The boy tagged out of the Hogwarts girl, and that was that. Looking around, Iris and Karilyna were having similar success. Take that Hogwarts. It was their bloody Independence Day so there was no way the American school was going out that easily.

"I'll stay here and hold down the fort," she told the boy. It seemed best they communicate what they were going to do so they could work more or less together; just because it had worked out this time didn't mean doing their own thing would keep playing out flawlessly. The redhead turned her gaze out to the rest of the field, up on the balls of her feet, ready to tag anyone to come at her. She was pretty confident she could hold off one. Two was another story, but she would try. All she could give was her best, right?

𝓐s Amadea looked out at the field of players fighting for bases, she wondered if she should throw herself into the mix. It seemed like most of the bases were occupied by Hogwarts students at the moment, which was good for their team but Amadea knew that anything could change in an instant. Plus, there were two of them guarding the base as opposed to some other bases that had one or no guards. Maybe it was because there were two guards at Base Five but Amadea watched as the game moved forward and no one approached them.

She knew it wasn't because they were that intimidating. Well, the other girl might be, but Amadea had a feeling that her friendly Hufflepuff self didn't quite radiate the intidimating vibes that were required for this game. Amadea made a split second decision to stay and guard with the other girl. It seemed like she was happy to have Amadea as a back-up guard and Amadea wasn't sure how well she would do if she tried to capture another base...most likely she would be thrown into their prison and would be absolutely useless if she was stuck. No, it seemed much more strategic to stay where she was and hope that no one came to try and take the base.

Amadea moved so she was closer to the other side of the base than the other girl so they could guard as much of it as they possibly could. Hopefully with them standing in different areas they would be able to spot any intruder that decided to come their way. A small smile crossed her face as she heard the referees shouting encouraging words toward them. "We got this!" Amadea said, though she wasn't sure if she was saying it to the other girl, herself, or her teammates. It was probably a mixture of all three.

The flag was so close. Eyes set on the scrap of golden fabric, Karilyna took one step, then another, then a leap, swapping it out for her red flag in one fell swoop. The tent was hers. Quick thinking stole the girl from her victory briefly, though, as she darted out, tagging the boy she'd just evaded herself. As her prisoner sat himself down on the grass, the Thunderbird turned back towards the playing field, scanning the action. The glaring sunlight made it difficult to pick out whitewashed faces, and so she quickly gave up the effort, turning to the tents instead. It seemed she was far from the only one who'd succeeded, based on the fact that there were now three crimson flags flying proudly. Lovely. Now, they just had to keep their lead.

As the prisoner [Charles] spoke, Karilyna glanced towards him for a second, immediately returning her gaze to the front. She couldn't give up her base for the sake of eye contact, after all. She raised an eyebrow when he asked whether he was pathetic. Well, in all truth, it depended on one's definition of pathetic. "Yes? No? I mean, I dunno what you exactly mean, losing a base or just in general, but you could call yourself pathetic if you want. I wouldn't say that, but I dunno." Words spilled from the girl's mouth before she could think, a strangely-linked string resultant from focus.

But the boy ─ Charles, his name was ─ continued on. "I'm Karilyna," she responded shortly, "Eh, keep talking if you want. Won't bother me. Just, uh, stay there. Makes things easier." It was unusual to see such broken sentences coming from the chatterbox, but she'd finally found some smarts in that brain of hers. Right now, concentration took precedence over rambling conversation.

Oh, but running around and stealing tents wasn't all that there was to the game, of course; one guarded their territory if they wished to keep it. Nobody appeared to be wanting to war over her tent, but still, Karilyna stood guard, eyes narrowed and smirking as if daring someone, anyone to challenge her. Nobody would steal the beautiful red flag from the rafters. Not under her watch, they wouldn't.

The moment her hand touched lightly the Durmstrang girl’s shoulder, Lydia couldn’t help the grin that plastered itself on her face. She felt euphoric, full of life, as if nothing could bring her down.
But then, as she turned her head back towards where she had left the Hogwarts’ flag, her eyes widened in horror as she noticed that the base had just been claimed by another Durmstrang student.

“Oh no. No, no , no!” She thought, as the realisation of then close proximity between her and the girl (Greta) hit her. It would have taken nothing for her to make Lydia her prisoner, a single touch of her fingers would have been enough; but she couldn’t let that happen, she needed to run away from there and think about her next move.

Placing her left foot on the ground and pushing herself with the right one, the red headed Hufflepuff did a small pirouette, evading Greta’s touch. She could have looked like a ballerina from afar, her hair tied up in a chignon, her body spinning.

The moment she stopped turning, Lydia started running as far as possible from that base (3), just as Rafael’s words reached her. Again, a warm sense of pride filled her chest, her eyes sparkling with joy as she gave a thumbs up to the Quidditch Captain, a big grin on her face.

Then, she concentrated back on the game.

It looked as if Hogwarts wasn’t doing too well in that round, and Lydia’s eyes fixed immediately over Ariana. Her friend was now a prisoner of the first base, and the red headed girl decided to try and change that.

She would have tried to save her friend.

lexei scowled darkly when he was intercepted. Still, he would not let something like that stop him. He took a moment to gather his thoughts and then made a choice. He was Alexei Maxim Petrov. He wasn't going to let some nonsense like this stop him from achieving his goals.

He wiped the sweat from his brow before running a hand through his hair. After breathing deeply, he hardened his resolve and went sprinting back at the base that had just evaded him. There was only one defender and he felt confident that he could win this a second time. After all, it wasn't really expected for someone to be this committed to a specific base this early on in the game.

As he ran at the guy who had cost him the base, a memory of playing with his older brothers came to mind. It wasn't a particularly pleasant one, in fact, it was rather terrible, but it fueled the Russian to push himself to go faster. He could do this. Sure, it was a game, but he had a standard of excellence to maintain. He had to bring honor to his school, to his family, to himself. He could do this.

Long story short, I survived

"You go left, I'll go right?"

Greta had spoken in Russian, something that took Cielle by surprise. If she remembered correctly, Greta could speak Norwegian - but then again, Russian was the dominating language at Durmstrang, and besides, it wasn't like they knew each other very well, if at all. Greta was always following her brother around... where was he, anyway? [IN RUSSIAN] "Great!" Cielle replied brightly, her long legs carrying her quickly and swiftly to victory. She dodged the Hogwarts girl, barely giving her a second glance, and triumphantly claimed the base for Durmstrang with a smug smile.

The Norwegian turned to face her school mate at her question. She contemplated it for a second, wondering if she should be nice and stay guard... actually, nah. Guarding bases seemed so boring, and Cielle was itching to get back into action. [IN RUSSIAN] "You stay guard!" she announced, and rushed away again, blowing Greta a kiss as she did so to compensate.

Cielle scanned the area for a base to capture and caught sight of not just one, but two of her fellow Durmstrang students being kept prisoner at one of them. Well, that wouldn't do. There were only a few of them playing against the other schools, and this was definitely one of those "all hands on deck" situations. Cielle usually wouldn't have helped, but hey, she wanted to win, and if that meant breaking someone out of jail... then so be it.

It looked like Cielle wasn't alone in saving her school mates. She threw Rudolf a grin as she flew past him, clearly making for the girl. Slava seemed pretty chummy with Alexei, and was therefore also an annoying idiot in her eyes (which, to be honest, was rather unfair if she really thought about it, but details, details...), and besides, Rudolf could save him if he wanted to.

Upon standing up, Ariana’s reflexes were swift, and she might have had a chance were it not for her foolish stalling that was to come. For now, she began to run, following Cassie, who threw out a casual comment to Ariana as they departed from their base rather hastily.

"This is not looking good, is it?"

“Well no shit!” She yelled back sarcastically before skidding to a halt suddenly, “Oh no, the flag!” She shouted out, before turning her head to look behind her. But it was too late, and as their yellow beacon was switched for a blue Ariana knew she should have kept running to get away, before it was too late and she rendered herself useless by getting placed in the prison.

It seemed that presently, her reaction time was suffering, for the durmstrang boy reached her in a matter of moments, granting her a tap to the shoulder. The part-veela groaned in frustration, swearing loudly under her breath as she swivelled back round slowly, to where she was to go. Someone called out her name, and she looked up to see her cousin pouting, disappointed that she was now doomed to jail. She shot him a careless grin, shrugging as she rolled her eyes. She would get out soon, and after all, the main point of the game was to have fun; the more seriously she took it, the less likely she was to win cheerfully; and she sure as hell wanted to win.

After gathering her scattered pride from the ground where it had been torn to pieces, she made her way [rather grudgingly] to where she was required to stay. Her foot kept tapping around impatiently, and she paced around the small space she was allowed to step in, sneakers uprooting tufts of grass as she nudged the lawn with the toe of her shoe.

Few minutes passed [although to Ariana it seemed like years] and an angel was dropped from heaven to rescue the brunette gryffindor. “Lydia?” She questioned, as the girl seemed to appear out of nowhere, “Thank Merlin!” She exclaimed, raising her arms in the air as she turned to her friend. She needed to get out as soon as she could, and with help it would be much easier, for the idea of outrunning several guards on her own didn’t seem quite a smart decision to make.

They say fools rush in but they also claim the fools make the same mistake and Arjan Oberoi did NOT make the same mistake twice. Despite rushing in headfirst, he somehow emerged victorious! He tore down the horribly ugly looking (at least to him) yellow flag and replaced it with a blue one. The blue of Durmstrang, apparently. Of course, he had no idea why they were blue. Red was his favourite colour but... he was just going to rock it.

Smirking, he flexed as the announcer claimed the first base went straight to Durmstrang - and the good looking guy, which was quite obviously him. Everyone knew that. Who else could it possibly be? No one, of course.

One of the Hogwarts students managed to escape the prison but he managed to capture a rather attractive looking girl. "Ohh hey there," Arjan replied as he leaned against the makeshift jail that the girl [ARIANA] was in. He could not help but grin. This was clearly a good chance for him to flirt. Maybe he should let her escape so she owed him one... But then again, he also really wanted to win... Winning was great, after all. There was a reason he opted for base number one and that was to be first in this challenge. He could not give in to every pretty face that easily.

Words that Vyacheslav says that are in italics are in Russian.
Slava had been so sure that they were going to succeed. They were holding down the base that their team had captured, protecting it from their enemies. The two Durmstrang students who normally didn't get along were working side by side against the kids from other schools. It was an even battle, two versus two. Slava sprinted for the unfamiliar boy, lunging towards him. It seemed his speed was still up to scratch as he managed to tag the boy with relative ease, a smile growing on his face at the success. He had done it! He had prevented the unfamiliar boy from reaching their base!

He turned around, assuming that Sýkora would have had the same success. His large grin was met with the sight of his teammate failing to catch the Ilvermorny girl, who promptly replaced the flag and tagged them both before they could get away. Slava looked dumbfounded, staring at the girls for a moment before trudging to the "jail". “Sýkora, how could you? I trusted you!” He punctuated his words with an overly dramatic sniff, pretending to wipe away a tear. In reality, he wasn't mad or upset with her at all. It happened, and she wasn't an epic Quidditch player like he was. Oh well.

His attention span was short and he apparently forgot his previous comment as soon as he saw Rudolf and Cielle coming their way. He nudged Sýkora and smirked, eyes still on their two potential saviours. “Hey, looks like we're in luck. Help's on the way.” Excitedly, he readied himself, getting in the best position to escape if he was freed.

Alan had been quite unlucky. On his way to the flag he could feel something make contact with his shoulder and the Gryffindor slid to a halt, nearly tumbling over as he held up his hands slightly to signal he would not go for the flag anymore. He would take a look at over to the person who had been the one to stop his move, giving them a sheepish smile before he made his way over to the prison area. The near fourth year would ready himself to be freed by one of his school mates and hopefully would have the opportunity to strike again soon. They needed to represent their school well after all, there had been too many negative aspects about their school the past months, that something good to clean the messy reputation would not hurt. Alan did not doubt that he could count on the other students from his school, he knew a lot of students and even with those that were participating here, he was sure that they would make their school proud. Rafael was doing a fine job at moderating the event too and Alan was excited to be out of prison again soon.
