Secret Blossom Ball
The first cupcake erupted on target in near unison with the pastry thrown by Atlas. Both cupcakes exploded in sugary goodness on the mosp. Ethen never believed it would actually cause much in terms of damage but as long as he could distract it from hurting others he would feel like he wasn't useless in the chaos. But with the mosp's attention, Ethen suddenly realized that it would be him in danger. He had dealt with irritated creatures trying to get him for most of his life and felt confident that he could handle whatever the large creature had to offer. Crouching as the mosp turned to strike, Ethen easily dove out of the way.Interacting with @Atlas Reid
In his excitement, Ethen dove straight into a bench and toppled over it landing on his back. The familiar cold ground beneath him was a disquieting notion as he knew the creature would be readying another attack. "Atlas! Don't you have some fancy schmancy magic from reading all those books," he called out hoping for a bit of relief as he hobbled back to his feet. Deeply wishing he had kept a few of the fireworks on him, Ethen searched around for something to use.
His eyes fell upon a decently sized and plump lemon cake. It was a beautiful thing. Its frosting looked like it had been done by a professional and each inch of the cake looked like it would be sugary bliss. But this was no time to enjoy the decadence of the white and yellow cake. Ethen knew sacrifices had to be made and he wasn't about to but his appetite over the safety of those he cared about. "Come on! Bee careful, you bugged the wrong hungry student," Ethen taunted the mosp as he hoisted the cake above his head. "Lets teach it a lesson Atlas!" As the words left his lips he put all his strength into throwing the large cake directly at the Mosp's head hoping to obscure its vision.
Actions: Attempting to throw a large lemon cake, with particularly nice frosting, at the head of mosp 8.

There are moments where things don’t always go they way we plan them. Often times this leads to no big consequence, and results in an inconvenience at most.Open to Interactions
This was not one of those times.
This was one fo those times where things went horribly wrong.
The dice were Fate was not on on Maria’s side today, because instead of casting Incendio on a hanging bunch of flowers, her spell backfired and burned her instead. She wasn’t sure if she had said it wrong or did the wand movements too quickly, but it was bad. Bright red flames enveloped her hand and forearm, singeing everything in their wake. A combination shock, heat and pain made the Hufflepuff drop her wand, and just as quickly as the flames appeared, they were gone. However, the damage had been done. The acrid smell of burnt flesh made its way to her nose, making her gag. Her arm was an angry red, areas of burnt and blistered skin covering a lot of the surface – and it hurt. Sweet mother of the Good Wizard on High did it hurt. The pain made her curl up as if to protect her injury, mouth open in a silent scream. This was the first time she had seriously gotten hurt since she started learning magic, and to have had it happen in an emergency situation was not good for her psyche.
Her brain knew she had to do something, but she was in too much pain to think clearly. Once again, she was reminded that Hufflepuffs and fires were a dangerous combination. Now she was wandless in the middle of what could be described as a mosp feeding frenzy. She hated feeling helpless, but without a wand or the use of both of her hands, that was exactly what she was right now.
“Help!” She shouted, trying to get anyone’s attention. She also silently hoped the pain would come to pass soon, and she would at least be able to think of a way out. But for now, all she could do was call for help and hope that mosps weren’t attracted to the smell of burning Hufflepuff.
Action: Calling for help, thinking of a way to help herself and looking for her wand.
Tryna solve a problem like Maria.

Interacting With @Ethen Emrys and the 8th Mosp
Atlas couldn't help but let out a loud laugh as both cupcakes bullseye the mosp covering it in cake and frosting. She was actually more impressed with their aim as she had predicted the attack to not go as smoothly. She could tell the mosp was getting agitated and a part of her felt bad as it wasn't the mosp's fault it was attacking it was just attracted to the flowers everywhere.
Looking around she could see a myriad of ways the other students were fighting off the mosps as she was pulled from her train of thought by Ethen toppling over a bench. Between the two of them it was shocking they ever got anything accomplished with all of their clumsiness hindering them. Watching as Ethen quickly picked himself back up, Atlas was thankful he hadn't been injured as he interrogated her asking her about the spells she had been practicing.
"Right magic....yeah that might be a tad more useful..." Atlas replied pulling her wand from her boot as she flipped it in her hand feeling the round curves that fit her fingers perfectly. Turning to see what Ethen was doing, Atlas saw him grappling with a large cake as she feared it would be too much for the little creature. She had no idea why she cared so much about the little bug but a part of her liked the way he looked and that despite being pelted with two cupcakes he was still feisty enough to attack them.
Seeing Ethen balancing a large cake in his hands, she thought quick on her feet running through her known spells in her head. The pyro in her wanted so desperately to perform Incendio but she knew it would severely injure the mosp as she quickly blurted out, "Wingardium Leviosa!" aiming her wand at the mosp to get it out of the way of the flying cake as well as to get it far enough away that it couldn't easily attack them.
ACTION: Attempting to cast the Levitation Charm to move the 8th mosp out of the way of the cake and higher into the air.

Mildred wasn't sure why she didn't run towards Lizzie hiding spot like Crystal did, she wasn't sure why she had just stood there- she could have sworn she was about to take a step heading into their direction when everything had happened so suddenly. The giant mosp in question had flown in so quickly and had pierced her right in the chest. It strangely didn't hurt at first, she was most likely in shock- she had taken a step forward and immediately fell down onto her knees in pain.
She stared at the cold ground for a moment, "Think!" she mentally scolded herself, what could she do? The pitch was still dark, except for the few spots with dim light- there was no way she could move far in this condition, she didn't have anything with her... unless; she thought of her wand. She reached into her pockets, and the sudden realization of she didn't bring her wand with her hit her like a bucket of cold water being dumped on her, she had completely forgotten that she had left her wand with chicken in case he needed it right before she tucked him in.
She fumbled around patting down her dress for anything she could use when she had pressed on her wound and yelped when she saw her hand was stained with blood, it was that moment when it had fully hit her that she was stabbed by the mosp, if the blood-stained part of her dress didn't show her that already.
The full extent of the situation made Mildred head hurt and swarm with thoughts of what's going to happen, is she going to die here? she was snapped out of her thoughts by a new voice next to her, "how do you know that? If I'm going to be okay..." Perhaps, Mildred should have been kinder, she remembered that's what she said to jake too during the fire- how could anyone know if it's really going to be okay?"Ah.. name's mi.. milk." She winced from the pain in her chest, she wasn't sure what had stung her- what species of moth it was, and if it's stings had any lasting effects.
"Li-zz-ie" Mildred sounded out her name,"You have a pretty name." she hummed to Lizzie's statement of "it was going to hurt", she wasn't sure if she could be in more pain. She heard the noise of fabric being torn and felt pressure onto her wound, in which she made a small noise of disapproval. "T-thank you... you didn't have to do that." She pointed to her town dress while using her other hand she held the fabric onto her wound, "I was the one who got the mosp upset anyways."
She looked up at Lizzie, to only find her chucking another glass at the beast. "WAIT-" she frowned at Lizzie throwing the cup, "you shouldn't have done that!" she whisper shouted towards Lizzie, "It's going to go after you now!" She wasn't quite sure if the mosp was really going to go after Lizzie, or it had a weird obsession with her- however, she didn't want to test it out. She watched as Lizzie look quite regretful, or some sort of emotion. She didn't want Lizzie to get hurt like her, however, she didn't want to get stung again- she looked around and remembered that Crystal was under a table. Mildred unclipped one of her frog earrings and tried it to the best of her ability and threw it at the mosp. Mildred quickly squeezed Lizzie's hand, "You should hide with Crystal...". she waved her arms in the air to hope that the mosp would focus on her, Mildred looked around and started to crawl under the nearest table, her plan was mainly to have the mosp go for her and maybe she could hide under the table for a while.

Fire was a bit of a problem. And even though it was a provider of warmth, as well as something that was probably not nearly as threatening as she saw it, Thora was quite frankly afraid of it—and with good reason. Her first (and so far, only) duel had seen quite a few bouts of flame, and though it had been a long time since she'd thought about any part of it, the scent of smoke clinging to her clothes still stuck with her. Getting set on fire was not fun. Not at all.
Perhaps it was this memory, or the newly summoned one of the Masquerade, that forced her to turn despite the scuffle she was already dealing with. She would seem almost in a trance as she tried to snatch the bag away from the other boy's grasp, perhaps resulting in her failure to obtain it. Brought back to the present as the fabric was suddenly ripped from her tight fist, Thora's head finally snapped back to face the small boy as she slowly uncurled her fingers.
How? The question tore through her mind as a blush crept up her neck and to her cheeks, though it would be invisible, thanks to the lack of light. She couldn't deny that she was weak (in fact, she was quite painfully aware of it), but still, she'd thought she'd be able to gain the upper hand against the much smaller boy.
"No—" she started as Marion's spell was successful, making Tyranni fall backwards straight onto the ground. Thora knew that she'd given the older girl absolutely no reason to like her, so she couldn't deny her trying to protect herself. Still, though she hadn't known her deputy Quidditch Captain for long, they were allies. Marion would pay later for hurting her. Now a bit angry, the girl glanced down, ready to free Tyranni from the Full-Body Bind, but Bridget beat her to it. Thora nodded quickly, before straightening back up. All good. She'd have been more than happy to help out—she'd actually come with the first year, after all, so felt quite responsible—but as for who managed to free her, the second year didn't exactly care. As long as it worked.
But suspicion quickly rose, washing away the embarrassment as she clung onto each of Arlo's words, searching for a deeper meaning. He'd said something like they would hurt Marion with the contents of the bag, and that by taking it, he was ensuring safety. Why, that was a curious thing to say, wasn't it? Honestly, under normal circumstances, Thora couldn't care less about a random bag which she could only assume belonged to Victor, but seeing how it was vied for, and according to what the small boy had just said, it was important. So naturally, being as curious as she was, she wanted it.
She narrowed her eyes as Thomas arrived, evidently desiring the bag in Arlo's clutches, followed by a certain Slytherin beater, who was easily recognizable by the bright purple hues of her hair. As to play off the rising apprehension, she took a couple steps back. First of all, Thora couldn't trust either of them, and she couldn't help but be a little scared of Erin. She'd seen the damage she could do on the Quidditch pitch, after all.
Close behind followed the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain, and she couldn't help but bite her lip. She'd attempted to Flipendo him several times last SWAG game, and while she saw the matches as friendly competition, she could never tell what other people thought about them. Hopefully, he didn't hold a grudge, because Thora knew she wouldn't be able to grab the bag, with all these other people attempting to as well and her utter lack of strength. And if the captain got it, she'd have to get him to tell her what was inside. It was the only option left.
It was made obvious to the girl that she had no place here, and that do something now would get her hurt—and while she could handle pain perfectly well, now wasn't the time. She still had a job to do. It seemed that the exact job for her would reach her by way of screaming, as Thora turned away from the bag and towards the source. "Sorry," she muttered to Bridget as the fire reflected off of her green eyes and screams rang in her head, "I'll be right back. Fire—" she gestured vaguely across the pitch.
And with that, she spun on her heel, beelining away. She hated to desert those she'd promised herself to work with—and her best friend, for that matter—but some things came first. As Thora saw it, a burning girl was one of those things. It was a good thing she'd dressed casually, as she could run unhindered across the pitch to the unmistakable fire, made even brighter by the otherwise dark Quidditch pitch.
As she approached, the Slytherin flinched as someone tossed a bucket of ice at the burning girl. It certainly wasn't the best idea, but who was she to judge? She'd come to help, after all. Images of the burning wooden dancefloor in the ballroom emerged from the depths of her memory, followed by everything else that had come with the fateful night, and it was all Thora could do to force them back down, down where they wouldn't reappear again. At least, not tonight. She couldn't afford to give in to her old habit, her old weakness.
She couldn't help but swallow hard as she neared the flames. The heat was already beginning to redden her otherwise pale face, and as she realized that the sounds of the poor girl's screams would probably be seared into her memory forever, Thora skidded to a stop, contemplating turning for the first time. Running and hiding was an amazing idea, right now. Instincts whispering at the back of her head pushed her to protect herself, and that everyone else's wellbeing could come later. And even though these thoughts were quickly pushed away, she knew there would always be that urge that was so typical of Slytherins.
Really, despite the surprisingly fast sprint she'd just made to arrive mere meters away from the fire, she wasn't courageous. It wasn't her job to be the hero. In fact, they were all children, really. None of them deserved to be tossed into this horrible mess. But alas, here they were, and Thora supposed she couldn't do anything else but help. Turning back towards the girl in flames, she forced herself to be brave. Just this once.
Forcing herself a couple steps closer to the fire, she squeezed her eyes closed before opening them once more, nearly blinded by the bright orange light. Drawing her wand from her boot in one smooth motion, Thora resolved to stand her ground, beads of sweat finally running down her face from the heat. Unlike those facing down and charging mosps, seemingly unafraid, she was scared to death, left fist clenched and green eyes huge. But escaping was no longer an option—and she wasn’t even the one in danger. She had to do this.

In her panic, Ivy had thrown her shoes into nothingness, her eyes tricking her into thinking she had seen mosps. Now she had no shoes, which was rather worrying as the ground had suddenly turned back into its muddy and soft quality again. However, that would be the least of her problems, as she would later find out. Ana's plan, whatever it was, was surely not to set herself on fire - and that was exactly what she had done. Ivy's doppelganger tripped and burst into flames without any warning, her entire body blanketed in scarlet flames.
It all happened way too fast, and Ivy was paralyzed with shock for moment. Then Ana screamed, and it was one of the most gut-wrenching things she had ever heard. That broke her trance, and Ivy ran up to her, knees shaking. "Ana!" she screamed. She was panicking. Why, oh why, had she not brought her wand? The girl seemed unable to do anything as she watched a boy, recognisable as the Quidditch Captain, (Rafa) try to extinguish the flames and fail. The other girl next to her (Astrea) attempted to cast the same spell.
How could something go so wrong? Ivy had only come to have some fun, and this happened. As a white-haired girl (Lark) attempted to put out the flames, she snapped out of it and ran over to the tables, feet covered in mud. She was looking for a liquid, any kind of liquid that would put out the fire. Pumpkin juice. Too thick. Fruit juice. Too sweet. Ivy came across a large jug of water. Finally! With trembling hands, she arrived back on scene with the jug in her hands just to see a random girl (Amara) throw an empty bucket onto Ana's face. What on Earth was she doing? That was only going to hurt Ana even more!
"What the hell?" Ivy almost dropped the jug in her anger. Her cheeks flushed bright red with anger, or maybe that was just because of the heat radiating off Ana's body. "What is wrong with you?" She would not waste any more time, and poured the water over her doppelganger. Now was not the time to argue with this idiotic girl - if Ivy got out of there alive, she would settle it with her later. Ana could die if they didn't put this fire out.

The lights were returning, filling in the gaps of what had been cloaked in darkness, though by that point there was so much fire on the pitch that the light hardly seemed to matter. There was a lot of fire, even from the tip of Willow’s wand, which found its mark on a mosp that was about to attack Opeila. Changing course, it crashed into the floor, apparently unable to keep flying long enough to attack. It must have been a powerful hit.Outfit:Reducio
”Willow, thank you!” Flash was somehow relieved.
Of course, Willow had his back and he had hers. It had been like that the whole time, just he felt like he had somehow already taken it for granted. He realized for the first time that whole night, he was standing beside someone who cared about him, who wanted to be next to him. He squeezed her tightly the moment he was able to.
No moment quite completely free at that point, Flash saw another mosp barreling towards them. Pulling her along with him, Flash was barely able to avoid being directly attacked. What on earth was attracting them to him, of all people? Meanwhile, Selim was rooting around through Vladimir’s bag, and before his reactions could benefit him again, Vladimir’s booted foot descended on Willow, giving her cause to reel and yelp. Why was he attacking Willow of all people?! Flash gathered her back in his arms before she could have a chance for her balance to give out and drop her to the floor.
Flash and Opeila’s expressions were like a mirror when he looked back up. Horror, dread. He didn’t know how much longer they would be able to do anything useful, but weren’t the teachers going to arrive soon? Couldn’t they try to keep things from getting worse until then? That was the only thing on Flash’s mind anymore, the rest of it had all vanished as if they had been storm clouds passing by on an otherwise bright summer day.
Vladimir wasn’t done however. Did he intend to keep hitting Willow until she passed out? He had some kind of strange fierceness in his eyes that made little sense. Between Selim, Flash, and Willow, wasn’t she the least attractive target? Even Opeila was putting up more of a threat than she was, yet his kicking feet seemed to want to attack the small, adorable blonde who had been crying for help. When Flash tried to make sense of it, nothing came to mind. It had to be something out of his grasp. Regardless though, he picked the wrong cute blonde.
Releasing Willow from his arms away from the scuffle, Flash’s only motive was to try and keep her from harm. For the moment, mosps and Vladimir were trying to harm her.

Is it too much for a girl to want to just dance the night away? Apparently it was far too extravagant of a wish for this cursed Hogwarts ball. If there was time to think about it in this moment, she would definitely wonder how a school this dangerous was allowed to be open. Is this just... all some weird type of wizard training? She'd have to ask a pureblood at some point, Astrea would probably know. For now she had to focus on the fact that there was even an issue in the first place.
The issue being... giant bugs.
Luckily her incendio went off without too much of a hitch. While the mosp didn't catch fire, it became distracted and went after her and fully missed. Dumb bugs. She heard Flash thank her for it but she didn't have time to respond as she whipped her positioning to face the mosp once more and hopefully putting more power into it this time to attempt to dispose of this one. "Incendio!" Soon after her cast, Flash pulled her into another embrace. As much as she loved hugs, this seemed to be the wrong time for it. Nevertheless, she wrapped her arms around him. Taking in the sense of calm and safety to help her to continue to not just totally lose her mind in everything that was happening. This hug seemed to be advantageous as Flash pulled her out of the way of another barreling mosp. As she pulled away from her brother, a low growl escaped her throat. "Are you kidding me!"
As she raised her wand to attempt to set the other mosp on fire, she felt a firm kick from behind her that would've knocked her to the ground if it weren't for Flash's greatest form of defense, his arms, sweeping her up once again. As she once again removed herself from Flash, she turned to find the culprit of the kick. Ah, the guy who's bag she stole. That makes sense. By the time she tuned into what he was saying, a look of confusion came over her face. 'Boyfriend...?' Was he talking about Rafa? Or Ruka? Either way neither of them were exactly boyfriend material in her eyes right now. They also had bigger things to focus on right now, literally. But, it was at this moment she realized Rafael had completely abandoned her and a pang of sadness pulled at her heart. Of course he had just been using her for whatever his end game was. She shouldn't have been so foolish as to go along with this dumb plan.
There was absolutely nothing she could do to prepare for the next moments that she seemed to watch in slow motion as Vlad was aiming to kick her again, but this time a lot higher. She had to put all of her trust that either he would fail at this, or that Flash would save her again. She would surely have to make this up to him somehow if he succeeded in pulling her out of harms way. For now, all she could do was glare at the person that was aiming to harm her for... possibly justified reasons.

Selim caught sight of the odd doll and the vial of an unidentified substance. Without second thoughts, he ignored the other objects on the surface, grabbing the two that had caught his attention and sticking them gingerly in the pockets of the kimono top tied around his waist.
He barely paid attention to his surroundings... that is, until he heard someone speak in a rather cruel tone. Carefully focusing his attention on the source, he saw Vladimir addressing to Willow. Then, the leather-clad boy attempted to kick the Hufflepuff, though she was pulled out of the ay by that boy from his dorm. Still, it seemed the third-year wasn't finished.
He let out a rather unhinged laugh that sent a chill down Selim's spine, one that reminded him of his kidnappers. Then, he seemed to go in for the attack once more.
Shaking off his stupor, Selim went back to his mission, ignoring the outbreaking fight even when some other boy tried to flirt with the third year. His pickup line almost made the pint-sized assassin cringe, but the feeling quickly disappeared.
Instead, he did what he was taught, and took the distraction his peers were providing to his advantage. He dug deeper into the bag, rushed. Scanning the contents with a critical, cold gaze.
He had no intention of helping out the Hufflepuff or his roommates, he'd owe them a favor at a later date, if he made it out of this mess alive.
Barely noticing when the lights came back on, Selim thought critically about his future actions. He'd take anything of interest.... then what? Jack was being an idiot and trying to stop Lestrange and Ryan fight, and that was the only person Selim cared to even think about helping at his own risk.
Should he offer his assistance? No... no, there was no point, the Fox could take care of himself, he'd probably even get assistance from that Gryffindor boy... what was his name again?
Anyways, his mission came first, the mission always comes first.
Otou-sama taught him that, pounded it into his brain until Selim could barely think of opposing such a rule.
If Burnett died, so be it... he... he could survive, he had experienced death before... at this point, he could hardly bring himself to care about it. It was inevitable that humans die, it just happened to some sooner rather than later.
That was fate... and fate couldn't be opposed. Some humans were simply destined to die at a young age, if one was weak, they died, that was an unchangeable fact.
It was their own fault if they didn't try and make themselves stronger, be it magically, physically, or mentally.
Weakness meant that you would die.
Selim had learned that the hard way.
So, in light of that, he decided that once he got what he wanted from his target's bag, he would grab Lestrange and run. He had to complete the mission with his companion, for his companion was the one that issued it, and he had to be there when it was finished.
If he wasn't there then the objects Selim stole were pointless trifles. The most they could do to help him was to bring Vladimir to him. Perhaps through speaking to the third-year that Selim could reach his goal of finding out what this deathtrap of a school was hiding.

Another series of events unfolded almost too quickly for Jack's mind to keep up with, but after a moment or two on the floor, the ache of his chest and ribs grounding him painfully to reality, he was able to process what had just happened.
His attempt to immobilize Thomas with the Freezing charm had utterly failed, resulting in the third year's drop kick impacting himself rather than its original intended target. That was alright, Jack thought, since his main goal had simply been to keep Erin and Thomas from hurting each other and escalating the situation any more than it already had been. It didn't matter to him whether that goal was accomplished through magical means or simply by the use of his own body as a wall. If his own injury was the price to pay, it was small; it wasn't as though he was unfamiliar with physical damage and he knew better than to allow it to affect his mental or emotional state.
Simultaneously, though, two unexpected people - Ruka and Oliver, each presumably driven by loyalty - came rushing to the aid of their respective snake associations. Ruka had tried to immobilize Erin in order to keep her from attacking Jack, who had put himself in the line of fire, as Thomas accidentally had. Oliver, however, would have none of that and deflected the second year's magic with a protective spell of his own. Again, and rather fortunately, though much more could have gone wrong in regards to the exchange of wizard attacks and escalated tensions as a result, they did not. Ruka ignored Erin and Oliver in his concern for the fallen Jack. And Oliver, though having originally hoped to shoot Ruka's own spell back at him, only succeeded in his protection of Erin.
Jack was embarrassed that he had nearly been knocked backward onto his date for the ball, but grateful when she was able to get out of his way in time. More than that, actually, she seemed to have...caught him? But why?
He barely had time to ponder the question before he heard a familiar voice calling his name with equal parts irritation and concern. By the time he turned his head, Ruka was there next to him, his wand hand patting his arm and chest lightly as he berated the younger boy. Erin, as if having been their ally all along, gave him over to Ruka, and again the Slytherin redhead had to wonder why. Was it in exchange for having taken Thomas' kick in her place? Whatever the case, it took Jack a moment to get over his bewilderment and having been stunned from the kick, pulling oxygen back into his lungs to respond to Ruka with.
"Heh...Tân," he acknowledged with a crooked smile. "Been a while. What's it look like I'm doing?" As if help him explain, the lights around the pitch were re-lit by then and he gestured vaguely toward Thomas and Erin each. "I'm trying to keep the two teens from killing each other. So far, it's been a success...more or less." His smile faltered at the pain in his chest when he moved too abruptly and he put his own palm over the spot he'd been kicked. That was going to leave a bruise in the morning...but he had worse things to worry about at present. "...Thank you, Erin," Jack told the part-veela, his face serious and his tone genuine, before returning his attention the the second year Gryffindor.
When Ruka got up to chastise the pair of older students next, Jack couldn't help but grin at the small but ferocious lion's commanding voice and warning actions. Maybe Ruka could get through to the two where he himself had failed. Or...he could...give a torch to Thomas...? What on earth...? Did they know each other? Or was Ruka simply deciding to be generous?
At the very least, Jack assumed Thomas wouldn't be stupid enough to go against his fire-giver's wishes and continue the pointless fight against Erin now that he had been given what he'd asked for. That was one less thing to worry about. Taking a minute to check his own damage, the Slytherin first year decided he was still fit enough to get back up and move about so long as he was careful regarding his chest.
Ruka then turned back to him, then, though, and Jack was almost afraid the second year was going to yell at him some more, order him to stay put, and potentially even cast a spell on him to make him comply if necessary. Instead, however, he simply offered him a hand up and asked him if he wanted some fire. The Slytherin balked at the intentionally abused version of his last name, but couldn't help grinning back. Not only was he relieved that the fire dancer wasn't going to 'ground' him, but he wanted to ease said fire dancer's worries as well.
"Yes to the fire, please. As to your other question..." Jack replied, pausing to regard Thomas as he accepted the flaming stick from the Gryffindor. The black-clad Slytherin finally seemed have realized there were more critical things to tend to than getting his petty vengeance. He stared at a dagger he'd been given - undoubtedly Selim's - and was perhaps moved to abandon his pointless fight with Erin for the time being as he asked for Ruka to follow him.
"No, I think they might actually have finally come to their senses a bit thanks to you. Thanks, Tân." He inclined his head toward Thomas. "Seems like he needs your help for whatever reason, though. Go ahead; be a good influence on him." He added a wink upon delivering that last part, partly joking but also thinking that Ruka's presence would serve as a reminder to Thomas to behave since Selim himself wasn't at his side any longer.
Thomas had addressed Erin with Jack's name, perhaps to send the message that he'd picked it up from Ruka's reference to the other redhead. The younger boy frowned briefly, but stopped as swiftly as he'd started. There wasn't really any point in keeping it a secret any longer, so what did it matter? Yes, it was slightly concerning that Thomas had first required Selim's help and then Ruka's, both of whom had significant worth to Jack. But so long as he got himself back on task and rather than getting distracted fighting Erin, Jack would leave him to whatever mission he had in mind. He was confident both Selim and Ruka could handle themselves regardless.
Unfortunately, Erin didn't seem so willing to move on from the fight as Thomas was. Jack had hoped she would cease attempting to attack once she herself was no longer being attacked, opting to get away with Oliver as soon as she was able. Instead, she told Oliver that they needed to 'restrain them', and while 'them' had Jack slightly worried, all she appeared to do was attempt to cast the Dancing Feet Spell on Thomas.
Well...that wouldn't have been so bad, would it have? It wasn't like a kick to the chest or a bash to the head. Jack himself was already taking the brief break from their little fight to head toward the supply of water provided for the students, hoping to grab another jug aside from the one Ivy had picked up earlier to poor on Anastasia. If Erin decided to take things a step farther, he would go back to try to stop her, but just then there was someone else he was more worried about coming to the aid of.
Had he been aware that once his back had turned, a particular blonde and mutual acquaintance of both Jack and Thomas had, for some reason presumably only known to herself, attempted to kick Erin in the back of her leg, the Welsh boy would have been utterly horrified. Just what the useless little spat needed - more reasons for Erin to want to stick around to smash heads as opposed to take off for safety as her companion had urged. It seemed her loyalty to Oliver would be tested in the sense of how willing she would be to follow his advice as opposed to going after those who had harmed or attempted to harm and wrong her.
Jack, however, had become nearly oblivious to these notions as the gut-wrenching screams of someone else he both owed and respected played continuously in his head. He struggled to simultaneously carry his bag slung across his shoulder, the makeshift torch given to him by Ruka held in one hand, and the water jug carried under his remaining arm to the area near the people still on fire, but it was slow going. By then, Victor had already made the attempt to put out his fire, as had Marion. But to Jack's great surprise, both of their wands and attempts at performing the Extinguishing Charm had been directed at fallen vase of flaming roses - around a hundred of them. If he'd poured water on Victor himself, did that mean it would have done no good?
Taking the hint, the Slytherin rushed to the roses next to the burning Anastasia and the girls still trying to put her out. If both Victor's and Marion's Extinguishing Charms failed to save the roses, Jack would pour his own jug of water over them in his own attempt to do so. However, if the roses were already magically extinguished by then, the redhead would turn instead to a girl crying for help herself (Maria Dee) and try to put out her fire instead.
Once the fires were safely out, Jack would gather up all the roses from the magic bouquet that he could, tending to them as carefully as if they were each small people themselves, and place them delicately into what remained of the turquoise water within the freshly up-righted vase. If he was able, the boy would switch the emptied water jug for the up-righted vase with turquoise water and flowers while continuing to keep his torch-bearing arm at a safe distance from them. For extra security, he placed the vase partway in his bag and supported it from underneath so he could use both his shoulder muscles from the bag straps and his somewhat feeble arm strength to help him bear the weight.
It wasn't far he intended to carry them anyway - only to Victor's side, where he could gently set down both bag and vase to examine the older boy's injuries and check on his well-being. He would not allow the third year to die. Not while he still owed him such a steep debt.
Action: (Apologies if this is beyond the actions allowed; I wasn't sure and didn't want to pester the mods at the time)- Accept a burning torch from Ruka (free action)
- Try to grab a remaining water jug (if possible) to put out Victor Moore's blood magic roses
OR- If the fire on the roses is already extinguished, try to put out the fire plaguing Maria Dee
- Afterwards, collect the blood magic roses and vase before bringing them to Victor and checking on him
