FAQ — Questions
Okay... Hear me out. Probably a stupid question but...

I know that magic for under 17s is a strict no-no with IC complications. But if its for self-defence, is that allowed?

So for example, there's an antagonist that threatens a PC and/or INPC outside of school term time (so say like the summer or winter holidays), can that PC or INPC use magic to fight back/ defend etc? Or would that still be cause for IC expulsion, imprisonment etc? For the record, this wouldn't be taking place in the Muggle world (I just feel like that would make things more complicated).

Asking this now so I can plan around a few things for the foreseeable future...

Edit: for clarification, these are dNPC antagonists, not other players on site, though to know what extent IC consequences look like would be good to know just in case. Also, is there a general rule of thumb for antagonists inside the school (if that's allowed?).

Sorry for the numerous edits - these are things that have just come to mind that I forgot to ask about earlier!

In my opinion, if you are a wizard and it doesn't happen in the Muggle World, it would make sense to fight back using magic to defend yourself. BUT it would still attract the attention of the government and someone would be sent to your general area to double check on who was the one who used 'underage' magic. So there is still a chance you would get into IC trouble. But you might be able to get around it if you talked to the government official and explained why you were using it. However, it is most likely still going to get you into some kind of trouble. But I am not staff so don't take my word for it, I'd wait to get an official staff's response on this.

I'm just saying this is what makes the most sense to me.

Also there is the problem as to whether an antagonist like this would even be allowed to happen, I'm not sure if you could even have something like that happen or not.

Alrighty. I'll keep that in mind.

Hi Emily, there are a few nuances to this question that could help us better answer it. The magic used in self-defense would be harder to trace specifically to the student in a magical area since the trace does not explicitly identify the caster.

dNPC rule updates and clarifications are coming soon that should be able to answer some of your questions on that front. Please do not bring any severe antagonists into the school, as they would not be let in. Only student antagonists like bullies and miscreants.

Edit: NPC updates here

@Astra Norrick

Don't worry! A lot of what I'm inquiring is just for general knowledge and curiosity. No bad guys will be brought to the school, I assure you ;)

Thank you!

I have a question. I want to have my own Inpc but I will make my character a part-veela. But I am a second class and I know my character needs to be that way. And can it still be a Part-veela? Or I am late?

You can for now, but you'll have to write the special race app for iNPC and an explanation for how they are now attending that school as previously special races weren't allowed in those schools.

One more question can I assume the Inpc is my own relative? Like cousin? but distant relative.

We have some people whose iNPCs are their PCs' siblings, that's completely fine!
