Actually, it does At least in the books. That the voices remain unchanged is only a thing in the movies. Since hio is going after book lore, I'd assume that the voices are changed by the potion as well.

Yeah exactly In the movie they had to practice the voices in the bathroom, but in the book (specifically the German copy) Harry specifically points out that the voices changed.

Admittedly it has been a good ten years since I read Chamber of Secrets. I wonder why they would have bothered editing the voices in when they could have just let the actors use their normal voices.

Yeah, I was just that kid who read every book 10 times and now my head is filled with lore XD
And yes, I was wondering the same thing, never quite understood that part in the movie.

Pretty sure it was just a stylistic choice to telegraph to a young audience that it was Harry and Ron in disguise. The movies were really inconsistent with it anyway, Crouch got Moody's voice, the alternate Harrys got Harry's voice, and Hermione didn't get Bellatrix's.
