𝕿here was a plethora of players the raven did not know, and some she had only seen from afar, like Aodhan. Timid, she addressed him a little wave. The other benched players, aside from her dearest Camille, were composed of a remarkably pink-haired boy, and a younger boy with short, spiky ink-black hair. The blush-kissed boy and Aodhan appeared to already be familiar with each other, and conversed easily, which only made Elena inch closer to Camille.

Her ravenclaw aristocrat was sulking over the expensive inutility of his broom, which made the moonchild roll her eyes playfully, nudging him lightly. "Hey now, I promise Silver Arrows as are flashy as Firebolts. Only with those, you don't risk your life." Having such a young person on such a powerful broom was not exactly a good idea, and despite knowing Camille's athletic abilities, she would feel more relieved to have him on a more tranquil broom. Whatever he may say.

Flashing a smile, she nodded excitedly. "I just got into the official team, I can't wait for my first match. Quidditch would suit you, come to think of it. It's fun, unpredictable and impressive." Perfectly knowing what he meant, she chose to royally ignore it. It almost appeared they were back a few years ago, under the warm sun of France. She, giggling excitedly at whatever teasing sentence she had just uttered, him, sulking in his corner, a glimmer of amused affection in the hazel of his eyes. Rabat-joie. Oh, come on Cami. Smile?"

Batting eyelashes and an angel-like expression, the picture of innocence. It usually worked, though 'ruining his flow' was a high-level crisis. Her attention was captured away by the match starting. Picking a random target — the opposing seeker —, she got up on her feet and booed loudly, looking at the game with starry eyes. And on they go!

mahoutokoro quidditch attire with hair in braids

@SapphireStormTeam

Yeah, perhaps she could use a few beater lessons from her beater upperclassmen--mainly Sara Kohana. Admittedly, she's never held a bat in Quidditch seriously and never actually played as anything other than a chaser before. Though suppose these unofficial game were for new experiences anyway. No harm in embarrassing herself as beater when roles would switch every round anyway. Could blame it on the Quidditch God (if there was one). She smiled slightly towards Mio Kasasagi as they spent their time protecting Miharu Goto. Reminded Kanae vaguely of her upperclassman.

Ugh, being beater was exhausting. It seemed as if the Bludgers really did favour (or loathe) the beaters in this round for some reason. Guess it was predictable for her to take upon the outrageously violent role with the bat for the other team's beater focused all their attention at her.

Kanae didn't really have the mind to be flattered at the moment at it since she had swinged in the wrong direction, as a result, her shot was intercepted by an underclassman from another team (Damien Dragonclaw) and sent it right back at her. Thankfully, it was easy enough to swerve out of the way of its path. The opposing team didn't have much luck either, where the other older-looking beater also looked like they swung the bat wrong when they sent the Bludger towards their fellow beater brother.

The Mahoutokoro girl didn't see what happened next though as her attention directed to their two chasers. Landon and Zach were a formidable duo in scoring points. Even if they weren't actual chasers, they'd definitely make a good pair. "Nice job !"

Chaser's Interception
Reducio
When a Quaffle is being passed by the opponent team, users with this ability automatically get a 10% chance to intercept the quaffle as long as the user is taking a quaffle-related action during that quidditch round. Note: a quaffle cannot be intercepted twice in one quaffle round (there are five quaffle rounds in one quidditch round).
Foulplay

When preforming a foul, this player has a 25% chance the foul goes unnoticed by the referee causing the player to not have to take a penalty lap.

Zoph's pronouns are currently she/her
What a peculiar - and frankly annoying - way to start the game. Of course it had to be the one time she really didn't want to be here. Four times she didn't manage to grab a quaffle and left it to the other team to score thrice. Fine, sure, she did manage to score once, at least, but it was rather disappointing.

On top of that, the game was boring. She was in shock that the "clean, fair match" the Caretaker had asked for hadn't encouraged players to cheat even more. But no, not a single foul play. Boooooringggg. She did distract herself with the fact that the two players on the other team who had, in fact, stolen the quaffle from her, seemed to be both flirting and embarrassingly oblivious. Very good entertainment.

The only way she could really placate her frustration with the first round was in her admiration of the other team. Many of them were genuinely rather impressive - especially those her age. It was always enlightening to see one's progression over the years, and though Zophyr hadn't seen a majority of these people play before, she could tell a lot of skill and training had gone into their playing. She winced more than once in fear for Kanae, who was getting aimed at, but her dodging game was top tier. Zophyr could only hope luck would be on her side, and she wouldn't be stuck failing to grab quaffles for the rest of the game.

Draven's teeth chattered. The vicious wind above the Hogwarts grounds bit into him like a snake, sneaking underneath his skin and clutching at his bones. He could barely feel his hands, and he badly wished the hoodie he'd brought was a bit thicker and a lot smaller.

Down below him, Quidditch players whizzed around at breakneck speed. Their colorful bodies moved underneath him like cars down a busy city road- only much more chaotic, and thrice as dangerous. On the other side of the field, the opposing seeker hung idly, watching the action.

He swallowed, trying to ignore the knot that had settled in his throat. It was just a game, and not only that- it was a game he wasn't particularly good at. His best was all anyone could expect. If 'his best' wasn't good enough, he supposed declining the next invitation was not out of the question. The idea made his stomach do an uncomfortable flip. As much as he hated being on anything but the sidelines, he'd grown to enjoy the time after events. When they were tired, and goofy, and obnoxious. On the field, in the changerooms, bumping into each other in the halls. The sport brought them together and bound the kids tightly. Gave them a shared goal.

Draven shook his head, trying to clear the thoughts like a bird flicking water off its wings. Distraction wouldn't do him any good, when his sole objective was to pay attention.

-april 18, 2026 | quidditch pitch, hogwarts -

Weilding the Beater’s bat was a second nature, but it seemed luck was not on a particular Haitian’s side today. Of course, Alphonse had entered the Pitch at full swing —quite literally soeaking. Yet, his innate talent wouldn’t show and such efforts remained futile; Alphonse’s bludger’s aim was off somehow and nearly wiped out the one familiar face amid this whole match. Shit. Perhaps it was the wind, or perhaps it was the nerves wracking the Caribbean-bred boy. Who was he to say?

“Carajo.” fuck

Gripping the bat tighter as a bout of frustration overcame him, Alphonse slowed his Silver Arrow’s speed as his chocolate brown gaze followed Damien’s younger frame. Despite the furrowed brow that wore his features, there was a flicker of apology in his eys as they hovered side by side.

“My bad, bro,” Alphonse spoke with a halfhearted smile, his formerly proud and boisterous voice quieter than its usual cadence.

Last thing Alphonse needed was his mother breathing down his neck regarding bestowing Damien with a concussion, accident or not.

With a deep inhale and exhale, Alphinse steeled his nerves for the impending duration. “Fwaye,” the Haitian wizard murmured under his breath, looking down at the Beater’s bat.

One Draven Mirador, who had been seeking last round, spent this round up close and personal with Kanae, marking the poor girl. The Quaffle
Now, where last round the Quaffle had been dominated by Zach and Landon, this round it seemed the control was on the other side, with Alphonse gaining the Quaffle the majority of the time, and Elena scoring. That's ten, twenty, thirty, forty, FIFTY points for team ultaviolet, who are no longer tailing on the scdoreboard. A couple more rounds like that would set the match solidly in their favor. But will this dynamic duo actually stay and continue on the Quaffle in his game?

The second round and it seemed that the snitch had been abandoned! Perhaps the kids had figured Mahdi out that this snitch was harder to catch than the normal ones?

No snitch actions!
The Bludgers
The action continues, but where the beaters had kept all the fun to themselves last time, the new beaters had new targets. Zophyr had hit a hard ball at Zach, knocking him clear off his broom and forcing Mahdi to zoom forwards and catch the boy let he fall to a less-than-spectacular crunch on the ground. No matter, kids will roughhouse.

In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept.
In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).
In the role of Seeker when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, you will not have disadvantage. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.
In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice at disadvantage (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself). Ricochet damage is 75% of the original hit.
His job was supposed to be simple: Be on save duty in case anyone fell. Easy enough, right? Apparently not. He didn’t quite know wether it was the sun getting in his eyes or the roar of the wind about his ears that ended up distracting him. But it hardly mattered, as the result was the same. He saw nothing and did even less. Had he been able to pay attention he might have noticed that seemed to be the case for his entire team. Oh well, there was always next round right?

Wrong again apparently. As he circled the pitch, rubbing at his eyes, he didn’t see the ravenclaw fall until it was way too late. Hitting the ground like that could hardly be comfortable, and so he winced. Wasn’t falling off your broom supposed to be a first year thing? And yet here he was still seated on his. Of course he missed anything and everything leading up to the fall. That didn’t exactly inspire trust in him, he knew that much. Still there was little he could do about it right now except pull himself together. Dragging a hand through his hair out of frustration, he shook his head and made ready to go again.

When the concept of 'cubbing' had first been introduced to Draven, he'd felt doubtful. The boy was all elbows and knees, but he couldn't say he'd mastered the art of using them. However, it proved to be efficient, if somewhat unorthodox.

Was quidditch violent? He was inclined to say so, as he leaned into a turn, smoothly arching around the field. He was nearing his target - a pretty girl from the Japanese school. She'd been darting around with practiced ease, her posture relaxed. The broom seemed more an extension of her body than a vehicle, fingers ghosting the tip of the handle and gaze settled to the game below them. She looked- skilled. He didn't like that.

"Love the outfit," he called out, voice drowned out by the wind. Her makeup was nice too- minimalistic but flattering, making her eyes bigger and her cheeks rosy. His broom ate up the distance between them, catching up to the girl. They hovered above the field, two birds on the breeze, graceful and light.

Draven gave the girl a smile. They were close now, close enough that he could touch her if he so wished. "That color looks really good on you! " his voice was raised above the wind, strong and sure.

It was while they were in that position that Draven lost his balance. His grip had grown slick on the handle, jolting him sideways when a particularly violent gust of wind blew their way. A flash of panic had him scrambling, trying to counterweight the broom up before he tumbled headfirst into the bramble below.

What actually happened? His elbow jammed into the girl beside him, connecting with her ribs as he overcorrected, swinging too much on the other side. Draven cursed, righting himself with a great deal of clinging.

"Are you okay?!"

Damien let out a small curse under his breath when he heard he got called out and given a penalty lap. He sighed before flying off to go ahead and get started on this penalty lap. He honestly shouldn’t have been too surprised as any time he’s tried to blatch anyone in a game it has never worked out in his favor. He honestly didn’t know how Harlan managed to never get caught he truly needed to ask him about that another time. Miharu was lucky Damien didn’t batch him but it seemed like Zophyr would have other plans for the boys other teammates as he hit Zach with a direct bludger knocking him off of his broom before Mr Mahdi saved him.

Damien winced as he knew that just had to hurt, Damien personally never ever wanted to get hit by a bludger as he felt like it would give someone a massive concussion and have them in the hospital wing for awhile. Just the thought of that could make him turn pale. He pushed those thoughts aside as he truly needed to focus on getting this penalty lap over with so he could get back into the game and help his team out.

On the bright side though this penalty lap now means that Damien could relax and take in the view from up here as it was absolutely incredible.

The potential “dangers” of riding a Firebolt compared to its cheaper counterpart sounded like irrelevant excuses. She’d also missed the point. First of all, he had not signed up out of his own free will—he had been manipulated. Secondly, if Camille had his way, he would sit, rather uncomfortably, on the bench for the entire duration of the match, merely using the broom as a means to showcase his copious amount of wealth and status, not his broomriding skills in any way. Those skills were sparse. Hence, the security was irrelevant.

Ignoring his true concerns, Elena excitedly dove into the subject of her new-found passion for the sport, despite the obvious sarcasm behind his inquiry. His lips stretched into a disingenuous smile, feigning happiness when she told him that she’d recently made the official Ravenclaw team.

“Oh, congratulations. I’m sure you’ll bring some style to the team.” From what he’d seen, they would need it.

The girl trailed on. “Quidditch would suit you, come to think of it. It's fun, unpredictable and impressive.”

Quidditch? Suit him? Hearing the statement of the century, Camille stared at her blankly. Did she even hear herself? His impeccable posture would be wasted hunched over on a broomstick. Despite Elena’s convinced words, which might be partly due to her newly acquired position on the team—he knew for a fact Harlan had pulled similar lies before he’d seen him set himself on fire that cursed afternoon—Camille highly doubted that she’d stick to those claims once she’d seen him try. If he left the bench, that was. If Merlin were good, he would not.

A small scoff, no louder than a huff left him as his gaze sharpened. “Please, am I not impressive enough for you?” he mused wistfully.

Her answer wouldn’t matter either way—something teasing, no doubt. A bright future as a primo ballerino was more impressive than playing quidditch, but he digressed. It was clear that she had barely been listening, barely sparing him a look when she urged him to smile instead of engaging in his moping. Smile he did not, but he let his eyes roll gently, before turning his attention to the starting game. He would not bring himself to cheer for anyone, but he did boo at one of the opponents soaring past him, picked completely at random.
