The match had been going on and she hadn't been paying attention which had dealt her some damage. This was hard! Why did she agree to duelling?? Her brothers had lied to her when they said this was going to be fun. Her poor teammates where counting on her and she wasn't able to help them out because she was whining and complaining about what needed to be done.

She felt bad for saying it wasn't fair that they were losing when it was partially her fault that she wasn't helping.

Finally, a hit. Phelan felt a twinge of guilt at the satisfaction he felt when his spell hit Ariana full on. It was enough to fell her this time. Switching targets had apparently been the right choice. The bat bogey hex had finally dissipated, and Phelan was still the only one to cast.

Saturday 16th of August, 2025

The fall of the Castelobruxo broke the spell, a spur of action after the moderator's call. Phelan and Ariam found 2 wands pointed in their directions, the chosen targets for this round as incantations echoed out their warning of the danger speeding towards them. Time was running out.

Phelan, having broken out of the stupor the longest, found little trouble keeping the distance between the spells and himself. Fire danced around him as Ariam cast a hasty Incendio Duo that flew true, the flames finding no purchase on the Beauxbatons student's robes before dissipating. Then the ground exploded. Manu returned with her classic Confringo yet Phelan still managed to jump back and away from the majority of the shrapnel, only a few stinging cuts and the shattered ground the remnants of such a powerful spell.

These spells would not be enough to break Phelan's concentration, much like Ariam hadn't broken theirs, aiming another Dancing-Feet Spell towards the Castelobruxo team. A nearly perfect cast, the spell shot across the piste towards a startled Ariam as suddenly their legs waltzed beneath them. Unfortunately for Geneviève, the sudden incontrollable motion of her target sent the Tickling Charm in a different direction, a clean cast finding no person to torment. Beauxbatons still seemed most injured, but they were clawing towards Castelobruxo with only a few moments left to tip the scales.

Of course she had missed. But thankfully Phelan had hit his target and they were somewhat back on track. If they were able to even the playing field a bit, there wasn't any reason that they couldn't emerge as the victors of the match. But it would all come down to wether the next spells they would choose to cast would find their targets. Genie's work was less than amicable or applaudable and she was finding it hard to maintain composure.

Phelan seemed... well truthfully she couldn't tell- the poor boy had been hit by so much and fallen victim to half the spells cast at them.

Team Castelobruxo seemed to have emerged from their trance, but luckily so had Geneviève. Phelan dodged the two spells from his opponents and sent one of his own. The duel was almost over. He didn’t know if this was going to be enough to win, but he was certainly willing to try.

The minutes ticked by, all of the sand nearly escaping the top of the hourglass as Geneviève and Phelan worked towards their comeback amidst a frozen crowd. The pressure snuck in, seemingly a crushing blow to Ariam as while alert and ready despite the rebellious waltzing, they cast no spell as instead two wands pointed towards them.

Geneviève acted first, following Phelan's footsteps by casting the Dancing Feet Spell towards Ariam even as they continued their solo box step across the piste. Despite the rhythm, Geneviève could not decipher the pattern before her as she aimed towards the right while Ariam danced left, a graceful dodge that seemed to relinquish some control back to the Castelobruxo student yet not before Phelan had an opportunity.

Where Ariam experienced a crushing blow from the ticking time, Phelan felt tenfold as the gap narrowed yet not nearly fast enough and the Seventh Year's very presence suggested impending doom and explosions. Getting this Knockback Jinx hit could provide that hope, yet instead it would crumple before springing back towards Phelan with full force. Not time to react, the punch directly to his chest stumbled the Beauxbatons student, the pressure backfiring to only further widen that gap. The final grains slipped through the hourglass, last moments to change the tide.

Lights were flashing and spells were being cast, and Manu had lost focus again. Several seconds had gone by and she had not contributed to her team at all, leaving the one remaining youth to fight off the French all by themselves. It had clearly been too long since the Castelobruxo seventh-year had duelled; she was rusty, out of practice.

She gripped her wand with renewed vigor. The one bright side is that no one had yet managed to land a hit on her, despite several attempts from the European side. If she could just hang on to her wand, if she could just stay alive, there might still be hope yet for them.

This was their last chance. To try and get any sort of attack done against the two students ahead of them. Genie willed all her might that she might actually be useful in the duel and not just off to the side like she had been for the last few rounds. Once this was all over she was done with dueling. It clearly was NOT the sport for her! She wanted to focus on dance and movement and not willing magic to attack people.

It just wasn’t her. But this had been fun- if exasperating.
