Marcie has always been a calm and quiet person, in muggle school everyone else would chat and fool around while she focused on perfecting he work, She never rushed a task and she took her time to check over her work. When she was 7 she had horrid handwritting it was painful for her to compare her sloppy writting, it would jurastically go over and under the lines, changing the size of the text as it went. she would constantly compare her ugly writting against her sisters pretty printing, She would spend her spare time writting lines and lines until every letter and didget was curved to perfection.

In 3 grade, they learned to elevate there writting by adding ajectives, Marcie had trouble thinking of words better than, 'walk', 'kind' or 'said' she spent every night or break reading the thick thesaurus to improve her vocabulary. Until she found the perfect adjectives: 'stroll' , 'affectionate' and 'explained' she was proud of her marks that year and the effort she put into getting them. Now at Hogwarts- she works hard to perfect every spell or potion that she has to complete, making sure that she has perfected the wand movment and says the words out loud until shes certain she has it right, she doesnt just throw her wand around and say whatever she sees but instead she takes her time.

After many expeiriences similaire to those she was very dedicted to be the top of her class, many of her family friends thought she had got this dedictaion to be perfect from her mother, especially her grand-parents, they kept pestering her on how her mother had turned out after being accustom to perfection: she had been very tough on herself which did help her get a good job but she didn't spend alot of time doing the things her parent wanted her to, she 'wasted' her time perfecting everything. Marcie thought that she did want to be like her mother since she was very sucsesful and kind so Marcie continued to be a perfectionist.

After that experience Marcie became motivated to perfect everything she had to work on, after the years she grew more and more organized, even the littlest slop in the E or A would make her erase the word and re-write it, Marcie still has many things to work on still but she will still work to perfect everything she puts her mind to.

It was a typical day on the ship for Wren was 4 at, she was pretty bored at this point and she couldn’t bother her brother since he was off at Hogwarts until the holiday break and she missed him alot. She had tried bothering her mama but she had been too busy with whatever ship work had to be done. She stomped off in a huff. She peered over the side of the boat and peered down at the water, softly singing to herself. She seemed to have done a lot of this lately. “Stop hanging over the side of the ship” her mother called to her from across the ship. “But mama…I’m bored” she whined as she scooted away from the edge of the ship. “If you’re bored bored you are more than welcome to scrub the deck of the ship, it’s quite dirty” her mother responded, slightly irritated throwing a bucket and a scrub brush in her direction. Wren sighed and scurried to pick up the bucket and scrub brush. “Thatta girl” her mother praised. Wren pouted and went to fill up the bucket with water.

Wren dipped the bucket into one of the many barrels of freshwater they had aboard the ship. She looked into the water at her reflection, she seemed scrawnier than usual. She touched her cheek lightly, she was definitely skinnier than usual. Her hair was an absolute mess of knots and tangles and she couldn’t remember the last time her mother had brushed it or even put it up for her. She snapped back to reality and went back to the deck and began to scrub the deck. She had been scrubbing for a good thirty minutes when something in the back of her mind told her she shouldn’t be cleaning there and she should move slightly to the right and start cleaning there. So she moved over and started scrubbing in the new spot. Seconds later a loud noise came from behind her she turned around and watched one of the water barrels come rolling down the deck missing her by mere inches. One of the ratty ropes must have snapped that were holding the water barrels in place. She didn’t know why but tears formed at the sides of her eyes, she whimpered slightly “MAMA” she called out.

Both her mother and father appeared on the scene “What happened, my love” her mother said racing towards her child and scooping her up. “I don’t know, I was cleaning and something in my mind said to move out of the way and then the barrel came rolling past and and…” she stuttered trying to recall what had just happened. Her mother gave her father the look of give us a moment alone and then watched as her father walked away. “I think it’s about time i’ve told you” her mother said gently. “Tell me what Mama” she asked eagerly. “Well the truth is it would seem that you just had your first Seer moment.” her mother said, booping her nose. “What’s a Seer mama?” Wren asked eagerly. “Well they are like a fortune teller of sorts, we come from a long line of them, a Seer comes with every other generation in our family, meaning your grandmother is a Seer and I am not.” she said looking lovingly at Wren. “Will I meet Grandmother? What do I get from this?” Wren asked as her mother set her down. Her mother laughed lightly “That’s enough questions for now my dear. Go wash up for dinner.” Wren then scurried off to get ready for dinner now with a head full of dreams.

He'd always loved spells. He could remember, as a child, when he'd beg his father to throw a few charms left and right, just for the fun of it. Little bubbles there, a gentle gush of wind here and sparkles bloomed in his eyes. As he grew up, Dean grew attached to the art as he watched his father help his mother with her work- he'd fly books to and from her, into bookshelves or her desk, in hopes of making it easier on her back and mind. This tender, gentle act made his heart fill with warmth and, as soon as he could, he began to read up.

His father had collected quite the amount of books on their magical heritage and, despite his affliction for reading, Dean did his best to get through the heavy tomes of spell casting recipes and tutorials, just to see what exactly he could be capable of one day. The idea of making such intricate spells, of charming objects or of creating things out of thin air made his skin prickle with excitement and this passion for magic carried itself through the years as he grew into a young boy.

His Hogwarts acceptance letter was just the beginning.

As soon as he'd received it, Dean had urged his parents to go to Diagon Alley to buy the necessary things for his upcoming first year. He was excited, yes, but even more so by the countless amount of things he could learn- new things. His new books in his arms, Dean was determined to work his way through the charm's syllabus, little by little, on his own before the start of classes, so he could do his very best.

He'd never been very good at school and he knew he wouldn't be much better off at Hogwarts but some little, tiny speck of his soul wanted to at least try.

So, during summer, he read and read and read. Mostly his Charms books, truly. Fascinated by the new spells he'd never encountered before, he did his best to note everything down into a little journal, with pictures and drawings detailing what each spell did, their incantation and the wand movement required to cast them. It was tedious, sure, but he loved it. Summer days turned into nights as Dean immersed himself in the world of charms, his passion driving him to explore the limitless possibilities of magic.

Soon enough, he'd made it through the required materials, right in time for his new year at school and thus, with a slight headstart for his Charms lessons, which he was incredibly excited for. Once at Hogwarts, Dean quickly realized his summer studies had only scratched the surface. However, his foundational understanding of charms allowed him to grasp new concepts more swiftly than his peers. His prodigious talent for charms became apparent as he began to outperform others in practical lessons. Dean's innate ability, combined with his summer preparations, set him apart, making him a standout student in class.

This is a small note really, but you are applying the ability to the time before first year, which is the only time during which Dean wouldn't be knowing spells early, all students start with the same level. Given the nature of the ability, this doesn't feel fitting. How does his prodigal charms ability show during his time at Hogwarts?

March's favroite sport was always Quidditch. Her family would watch Qudditch matches all as a family as they cheered on there favroite teams. Her and her siblings would always take turns using there family's brooms. They would use old muggle balls to practise there reflexs and catching and throwing skills. Every now and then, when they weren't busy, they'd play small quidditch games with there wizard neighbors where muggles couldn't see, like in there basments. March wasn't the best, but definatly not the worst. The more she played, the better she got at throwing, catching and dodging the fake quaffles and bludgers. March could almost always dodge the balls as they came her way during practice's or small games. She wasn't the best beater, but at least at the end of the game, she almost never had injuries.

These skill's were barely in use at her muggle school, since there weren't many bullies or mean children. March was glad she didn't have to keep her guard up at school, but that didn't acount for out of controle soccer balls or volleyballs which came her way. If she was watching, she'd make sure to shuffle away before it smacked her in the top of the head. March also had a taste of how to use muggle vehicles like bikes or scooters. Her mother had found an old bike infront of her neigbors yard, and brought it home. She explained that she wanted her kids to try new things. Her sibling had trouble balencing them selves, since there weren't any training wheels, especially her older sister and brother, who'd never heard of the bikes, only seen muggle children riding them around to and from school. March and her second to oldest brother were one of the most sucsessful, since her younger two siblings weren't allowed to try, her mother had thought that they were too young. March and her brother would take turns riding up and down the muggle neighborhood. One time, when she was riding down the forest as her brother tiredly jogged along before he slowed down, March turned to laugh as she would watch him huff and puff. But, March wasn't looking infront and when she turned back, she was about to crash into a birch tree with two squirrels and a bird nest on its branches! before March crashed straight into the tree with the poor creutures perched ontop, staring terrifidly at her, she turned her bike imidiatly making her bike lose balence as it nearly had hit the tree. March's bike slowly tumbled over and March stood up, bringing her bike back to her brother after the expirence if near injury, danger, and, nearly the end of a couple baby birds and two terrified squirrels.

Kaitlyn stood in the girl's bathroom nearly in tears. She had just been at the Great Hall and had spilled coffee on her blouse. She was normally not this messy, and so, she was naturally upset that this even happened. All the good will she built up for herself from her daily run and yoga session was completely ruined. 'What a great start of my day.' she thought with a sigh.

Katie slipped out of her soiled blouse and took her wand out of her skirt. She held her wand in her hand and sighed. Being in the bathroom, she did not have her Charms textbook with her. And while she'd love to remember everything on sight, she did not. There was a lot of information for her to learn! As such, she did not know of a spell to help her. Besides, she never understood the desire to just use magic with everything.

Just that morning, a cute blonde-haired girl in her dorm used magic to move a book to her from across the room. Katie would've just gotten up, walked over, and picked out the book. Likewise, she saw a lot of the Slytherin girls use magic to fix their hair, apply their make-up, and overall help them get ready for their day. Katie, on the other hand, liked to apply her make-up by hand, with the very little she used. And she rather enjoyed styling her hair with her brush and taking her time with it.

In her opinion, magic made a lot of the students incredibly lazy. Katie saw no way she would just use magic for the convenience. Being a muggleborn, she was pretty set in her ways of what she did in the morning. It was unlikely to change.

So, while some of the other students would likely summon water or some other wand-waving, Katie shook her head and placed her wand back into the pocket of her skirt. She'd rather not waste a lot of time trying to fix her mess. Turning on the tap, she took her time wetting the area of her blouse with water. Taking some soap, she gently scrubbed at the soiled portion of her blouse and started to hum to herself as she worked. She increased her scrubbing a bit, but eventually got the stain out of her blouse. Turning off the tap, she sighed. Now she had to wait a bit to slip back into her blouse. Or maybe she could do something with her robes? Either way, it made no difference to her. She enjoyed putting in the effort to do things the muggle way. It made her feel more accomplished and proud of herself.

Ileen was very judgemental. She was the kind of girl who labeled you after the first impression - no, actually even before the first impression.
Admittedly, her expectations were quite high and she knew from the start that she would be disappointed. But was it her fault that she was surrounded by drama-addicted, easy-going hotheads? No. The daily disappointment she felt was not her fault, but that of her classmates. Why couldn't they try a little harder?
Long story short, she analyzed and assessed everyone, pigeonholed them and treated them accordingly. With very few exceptions.
But one thing never played a role in her assessment: looks. Ileen had already kind of a sixth sense about things and if someone was just playing a game or hiding something. From a young age on she had learned to look beyond what she believed to see and what actually was hiding behind facades.
And there was another lesson she had learned during her long time at Hogwarts: Actions speak louder than words. A parade of pretty students had walked through her life and proved her right. Thomas Lestrang, this annoying, reckless George Henry, her own dearest connections like Victor, Percival and Hanako. A bunch of pretty faces and a totally different story to her. People sometimes just used their pretty face to get away with questionable or even awful things in her experience - just as if someone gave them a pass because they were not bad to look at. By now she actually would probably go so far to state that people that are pretty and aware of it, tended to be more frightening than nice to be around, because they had looks to hide their true intentions behind. Everytime she thought about the girl Marion for example, who Victor was associated with, a shiver ran down her spine. Beautiful creature and absolutely terrifying!

So, over the years, the young Slythering had grown more and more impartial to the attraction and looks of people. In her younger years, she had been admiring beautiful creatures, because she had been easily impressed (like Geoffrey Ryan). But now, a few years later, she has matured. No one was able to play those kinds of games with her anymore.
Her experiences with her classmates and her duty as a healer forged her mind to be focused on facts and not care if someone was pretty or not.
The spark of that she already experienced when she learned that she was a healer with heart and soul. Whenever she tried to save her classmate, Victore (and failed obviously), he had been in the worst shape of his life. She didn’t turn to him because she wanted to make him look handsome again. She wanted to fix what was broken, keep him alive, and give him a life.
The moral of the story for her remains that she should rather pay attention to those who look awful, because they probably are suffering more. And then your actions will decide if she actually trusts you. If you are lovely looking, she will look for your shortcomings even harder. We all know they are there.

It was only quite recent that Paige had been accepted as a broom racer. She had always wanted to prove to people that she was capable. The only problem was she had very little experience on a broom. Afterall, the only time she even touched a broom was during Flying Class.

Her father was into broom racing, and he would often allow Paige to watch the races with him when he wasn't busy working at his office in Stratford. Ever since his divorce with Paige's mum, though, Paige spent less and less time with him. It was unfortunate, it had been months since she had watched a match.

She had never in her life laid hands on a broomstick until her first flying lesson last year. It brought back memories of when she found a large stick in the bush when she was little. Paige rode that stick everywhere, pretending she was a world champion broom racer. Her cousins, however, laughed at this and told her she would never accomplish that. So Paige snapped the stick and threw it into the fireplace, never to be seen again.

Paige didn't get to practice flying much as school brooms were only accessible during lessons. Thanks to her captain though, that all changed. He had allowed Paige to borrow a Nimbus 1700 for the time being, which she used every day after classes to practice.

However, one afternoon back at Mallary Manor, Paige noticed her aunt's car had pulled up in their driveway. Out hopped her arrogant cousins. Paige's eyes narrowed as she climbed away from the window and slammed her bedroom door. Knock knock! It was her mother requesting that she greeted her family members. Paige rolled her eyes, threw on a large sweater to make herself more comfortable, and stomped down the stairs. She nodded her head at her younger cousins, before realising what they were playing with.

"Hey! Don't touch that!" she yelled, snatching her Nimbus 1700 out of their grubby little hands. They crossed their arms in sync. "And what would a loser like you be doing with this broom?" one of her cousins mocked. Paige's eyes widened in fury. She stormed outside and mounted the broom, kicking off from the ground and zooming through the sky. Never in her life had she been this good. It was as if the broom wanted to prove to her cousins that she was capable of flying well.

Too focused on the twins shocked faces, their jaws dropped all the way to the ground, Paige quickly looked up and noticed a gigantic structure was now directly in front of her, centimetres away. Letting off a quiet shriek, she clenched the front of her broomstick and swerved to the right, dodging the building by inches.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Wandmaker (Yew White River Monster Spine)
Background Info
Reducio

There was a famous American wandmaker, Thiago Quintana, who was famous for his White River Monster Spine wands. These wands are known for spells of force and elegance, particularly in charmswork, and favor pureblood or wealthy wizards. The Jackson family, an American pureblood family, is very renowned and prestigious. They are also a known crime family based in the South and have several rumored Dark Wizards in the family. White River Monster Spines were a popular choice for Jackson wizards, although not everyone in the family received them. Sarah Jackson, Cassian’s mother, inherited a White River Monster Spine core wand, paired with yew wood. She inherited this wand when her great-aunt died. However, Sarah would never use it. Instead, she preferred a unicorn hair wand, which she chose specifically to prevent herself from practicing the dark arts. Sarah kept the family wand, even when she separated from her family and married a British muggle. Sarah never had the intention to do anything with it, until the end of Cassian’s first year.
Cassian’s first wand, a Peruvian Vipertooth dragon heartstring core with poplar wood, was the one he received in Diagon Alley. His first year at school, Cassian found he excelled at Defense Against the Dark Arts and combative magic. Sarah worried that Cassian would be more prone to the dark magic in his family history with a dragon heartstring wand. All summer she contemplated giving Cassian the wand she inherited from her family. Eventually she decided that Cassian would do better without such a powerful and unpredictable wand, as was the dragon heartstring. A few days before the new school year started, Sarah gifted Cassian the yew White River Monster Spine wand. She decided not to tell Cassian about the wand's past as he still didn’t know about his family history. Cassian was reluctant at first, but quickly realized that this new wand was a much better fit for him.

Wand Wood: Yew
Yew wands have a reputation for darker magic, which is very relevant in the Jackson family. They are also known for choosing duelists, which Cassian aspires to be. A yew wand’s dark reputation in dueling and curses, combined with the wealthy pureblood-prone core (expanded upon in the next section), was very important to the Jackson family. While yew wands can be attracted to Dark Wizards, they are also attracted to wizards who are fierce protectors. Cassian’s loyalty to his family and friends is the center of his beliefs. Yew wands never choose a timid or mediocre wizard, which Cassian most certainly is not. This also demonstrates Cassian’s innate dueling abilities as well as his potential struggle against the darker aspects of magic, which stem from past generations in his family.
Word Count: 130
Wand Core: White River Monster Spine
Cassian’s American witch mother, Sarah Jackson, comes from a long line of pureblood wizards: the prestigious American wizarding family, Jackson. The Jackson family is also very wealthy due to some, alleged, illegal activity. White River Monster Spine cores produce spells of force and elegance. Cassian has a high arcane power, which matches well with the force from a White River Monster Spine core. These cores were crafted by the American wandmaker Quintana, who has since passed away and now White River Monster Spines are no longer used as wand cores. But Sarah Jackson kept one of these wands that had been passed down through her family. It was initially intended to be hers, but she instead was paired with a unicorn hair core wand in an attempt to keep herself as far away from dark magic as she could. But Sarah recognized Cassian’s power and unpredictability with a dragon heartstring wand and thought that the White River Monster Spine would be a calmer fit for him.

Altered appearance of spells (flavor only):
Light: any spell that casts any kind of light, such as lumos, incendio, or any other spell involving fire/light is done so in a bluish green color. This color is similar to river water.
Damage: any spells, particularly jinxes or curses, that deal damage to another person are often accompanied by the earthy (wet soil-like) and fishy smell of rivers.
Healing: any spells that heal another person are accompanied by the smell of fresh fried fish, like the kind that Sarah Jackson makes.
Wand Length: 10.3 inches
From an average wand length of 9-14 inches, Cassian’s 10.3 inch (26.2 cm) wand is on the shorter side, although still fairly average. While this can be reflected in Cassian’s short height and slimmer build, it has more to do with his personality rather than his physical appearance. Cassian always makes an attempt to blend in and not cause a scene. He doesn’t like the spotlight and he doesn’t need dozens of friends; just a few close ones. Trying to be perfectly average is what Cassian is good at as he also tries to hide his American accent as well.
Word Count: 102
Wand Flexibility: Very Flexible
As a half-blood and middle child, Cassian has always found himself to be adaptable to new situations and people. He isn’t too great at planning ahead and often finds himself thinking on his feet and improvises really well. This often comes in handy during duels or when he has to finish his homework at the last minute. While he is adaptable and often willing to change, he is firm in his loyalty to his friends, family, and values. This explains why he doesn’t have a whippy wand flexibility or rigid one either. Cassian’s very flexible wand is more on the flexible side, without being overly so.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Perfectionist

Describe why this fits your character:
Reducio
Why Theo Vendeberg, my character, is suited well for this ability in his first year:

His notebooks were always immaculate and labelled, with hand writing at a level way above his age expectation. His muggle school assignments were always completed with precision and grace, complete with colour coding and highlighting. This pursuit of perfection extended beyond academics into Theo's extracurricular activities. Whether it was mastering a musical instrument or painting models. Everything had to be in order and correct, otherwise the young boy would become agitated.

However, being a perfectionist was a double edged sword. Theo's quest for flawlessness often led to an intense fear of failure. The fear of not meeting his own high standards would occasionally paralyse him, making the pursuit of perfection a source of stress rather than fulfilment. The constant self-imposed pressure to excel in every endeavour threatened to overshadow the joy that should accompany the learning process. This also affected his ability to foster and maintain friendships. Theo often projects his own insecurities onto those around him, harshly judging and scrutinising others if they falter.

Understanding Theo's perfectionism required delving into the roots of his character. Perhaps it stemmed from a desire for validation and praise, a need to prove his worthiness through accomplishments. One source for this behaviour can clearly be attributed to his parents, who are, themselves, perfectionists and perhaps the most impressionable people in any child’s life. Theo mirrored and absorbed the attributes and imperfections of his parents, inheriting both their virtues and flaws. Theo faced punishment and reprimand for any lapses in precision, sometimes to an unjustifiable degree, instilling in him the elevated standards associated with a muggle academic path. With both his parents enjoying highly successful careers, the expectation loomed that he would naturally follow in his father’s footsteps and become a barrister.

Of course, upon being accepted into Hogwarts, Theo had every intention of continuing his perfectionist attitude towards academics. Prior to attending any classes, Theo proactively sought to minimise distractions throughout the term. He opted for a dorm with the fewest students, refraining from actively cultivating friendships and choosing instead to sit quietly on his bed immersed in reading.

A notable instance of his perfectionist demeanour occurred during his last year in primary school. Engaged in the school play, Theo not only memorised his own lines but the entire script, encompassing dialogues of characters in scenes where he wasn't involved. Regrettably, his relentless pursuit of accuracy didn't endear him to his peers, as he consistently corrected them for even the slightest deviation from the script, down to a single misplaced syllable.

Shortly after Sereia presented her first instance of accidental magic, a number of things changed in their home. For one, her father was ecstatic and told her everything about the wizarding world; her pureblood family back in England, Hogwarts (which he never graduated from since he moved to New Zealand before his fourth year), and just magic in general. He showed her photographs (moving photographs!) from when he was younger. There was a lot to take in for little Sereia, but she was excited to explore this new magic she had.

Her mother, on the other hand, felt farther away from her than they already were. Sereia’s mother was a nurse and she worked long hours. But the realisation that real magic existed in the world and that her husband and daughter could wield it led to her withdrawing for a while. Whenever Sereia had more accidental bouts of magic, her mother would cease her smile and the expression would disappear from her face. For little Sereia, this change in behaviour was bizarre.

It didn’t take long for her to figure out why her mother’s behaviour changed. Sereia stopped talking about the things she could do with magic in front of her mother. It wasn’t a topic she liked to talk about nor listen to; Sereia found out after her mother abruptly left a story-telling session her father had about the time he duelled someone and set their clothes on fire. Even if her parents wouldn’t admit it, she could sense the chill atmosphere whenever magic was brought up.

She came home one day after hanging out at a friend’s house to hear her parents yelling. It was something about pulling her out of Muggle school (a term that Sereia later learned could not be so easily thrown around in front of her mother) and putting her in private tutoring to help hone her magic. The house went silent after Sereia closed the door, but she kept a tight smile as she entered the kitchen and told her parents she would just be in her room.

(Her mother tried to lighten the evening by making her favourite pasta, but Sereia could still feel that she wasn’t happy with how their life turned out.)

Her dad may have been oblivious to her mother’s discontent, but Sereia wasn’t. She sensed it all, whether or not her mother was trying to hide it. Sereia could never walk down the stairs without assessing the tension hanging so heavily in the air that it suffocated her.

Mothers have this sort of sense for finding things. When Sereia was younger, her mother always reminded her to ‘look with your eyes, not your mouth’. Classic. But the little girl would still yell for her mother down the hallway to ask where she put something.

Though in recent months, her mother spent more time in the hospital than she did at the house. At first, the effects of this absence didn’t affect Sereia much as she was usually out with friends or at tutoring but it did take its toll when she had school holidays. The nanny watching over her would not know where anything was placed in the Clairmont household (naturally), so Sereia just had to change how she was looking for things.

It started first with her favourite hair clip. Sereia swore she put it in the drawer in the living room, but nope. Not a single hair clip in sight when she opened said drawer. She returned to her bedroom, the next (and only) place it could possibly be. Not wanting to mess up her dresser, she stood less than a metre away and just stared at the objects on her dresser. There was a cup of hairbrushes, a few bottles of skin care products, her hair straightener, and a small glass cup filled with hair ties. However, the hair ties were stacked unevenly (she liked to have them lying flat on top of each other) and so, she took them out. Sure enough, the cause of the uneven organisation was the clip lying between a few scrunchies.

The next time it happened, her friends were visiting her house for a hangout. The nanny reminded Sereia that the cleaner was scheduled to come in a few minutes which prompted Sereia to take them outside to the yard. After setting up a picnic and running around for a bit, they went back inside only for the youngest of the bunch to panic over her keychain missing its charm. The only information Sereia had to go off was a juice squeeze bag (think Zest-O) with red liquid, gold stars, and a Chinese lucky cat inside.

Everyone scrambled around the place, though careful not to tip any delicate vases and decorative plates. Everyone opened drawers and reported nothing. But finding it happened a lot quicker than Sereia expected. She walked past a shelf to find said Chinese lucky cat inside a juice squeeze bag hidden behind a few LEGO flower pots she made two years ago. Her friend was thankful to see it safe, although quite upset that it broke off her bag.

While Sereia’s wand was working decently for her, her thirteenth birthday was a bit of a surprise.

Her father, Nathaniel, made sure to catch her when her mother wasn’t around and brought her to his study. Sereia watched as he brought out a dusty box hiding in one of the lower drawers of his shelves. It was an emerald green velvet box. Inside, however, was a beautiful wand.

“From one Seer to another,” he told her, “Silver lime wood with a white river monster spine core. A mouthful, yes.” He chuckled as he picked up the wand from the box. “Ten and a quarter inches and slightly yielding. My father gave this to me when I was around your age.”

At first, she stood awkwardly as he studied the wand. Eventually, he ushered her over. Sereia moved closer to have a look at the wand’s carvings. She could see the wear on the handle from generations of use. Yet, she had never seen her father use this wand. Did he have another one? Or did he simply not need it anymore?

WOOD (89/50): Silver lime was rare and known to work best with Seers and Legilimens. It was natural for her father to own a wand made of such wood, considering his talent. For Sereia, this was the first time she felt accepted with her talents. Magic was so taboo in their house that her heritage wasn’t something she could explore and embrace. Somehow, it made the past few years since her first presentation of magic worth it; everything she had bottled up didn’t need to be bottled up so securely anymore.

CORE (57/50): A core from a white river monster spine was unusual but the reason the wand had it was from its history. The Clairmonts back in England were pureblood and they made a good fortune from their oracle work as Seers, among other ventures. While Sereia herself wasn’t a pureblood, she had a name to live up to.

LENGTH (59/50): The wand length was average, to say the least. Ten and a quarter inches was not too short but not too long, either. It wasn’t dramatic in any way which worked well for Sereia since she didn’t want to show off, whether it be a new wand or new anything. As long as it worked, she would have it.

FLEXIBILITY (64/50): Her father handed her the wand to hold. The first thing she noticed from holding it was a sort of rigidity. It was more unyielding than her current wand but still had some sort of flexibility to it. Slightly yielding, her father called it. She liked that. The wand would be more stable than her current one but still adaptable enough for her liking.

“I hope this wand treats you as well as it has treated me.” Her father patted her shoulder. “You’ll be a wonderful Seer.”

(Nathaniel was a Seer, but what he didn’t know was that the fates already determined Sereia’s downfall.)
