Pyxis was a gamer, not an athlete. Every attempt by his parents to make him the latter was met with total resistance. The Hellebores weren’t even trying to make him a sports star or anything. They just wanted to introduce him to as many extracurriculars as possible so that his university application would be too attractive to deny. Unfortunately for them, their son took to no out-of-school activities and he was especially against sports. The lad had arms the size of toothpicks and could barely muster up enough strength to kick a ball from the penalty spot. He was simply not meant to take part in anything outside of his bedroom.
So imagine Pyxis and his parents’ surprise when the boy not just joined one of THE extracurriculars at Hogwarts during his first year, but he’d become the equivalent of a wizarding athlete too. Sure, duelling was no Quidditch, but as far as he was concerned, being able to take a Flipendo to the gut and still keep his head in the game definitely had him on the same level as Harry Kane.
But Pyxis didn’t just coast by on the team for resume points, he was pretty dang good at it. So good, that the sport made him stop thinking about his potential career as a competitive gamer and actually got him to look into careers that favored gifted spellcasters like him. Besides, this experience was like a video game to Pyxis and whenever he stood on the piste or faced off with the dummies in the club room, the snake felt as if he’d put maxed out his magical power on the skill tree of his Hogwarts education.
The first time Pyxis was blessed with the realization that this wizard thing wasn’t going to mess with his future and instead was the pathway to making it more exciting was when he had just become co-captain of the Slytherin duelling team. He was alone in the club room, drilling the spells he knew over and over again because he didn’t want to be a captain that couldn’t cast. His aim was generally terrible and his still felt a bit goofy saying the incantations out loud, but the one thing that always stood out to him was how much force his Knockback Jinxes slammed into the training dummies with and how large his Incendio flames were. Too early in his duelling exploration, Pyxis thought that it was normal. Magic was magic and that meant it was always supposed to be powerful.
It wasn’t until the snake started refereeing and competing that he saw the truth. Every caster was different. People were good at things Pyxis was bad at, and his spells certainly packed a bigger punch than a few of his competitors. When he practiced during the breaks between matches, he found that his training mates suffered more from the initial blows of his Dancing-Feet Spells and Tickling Charms than from the effects they were supposed to be under. His smokescreens were particularly thick and he avoided casting any sparks charms in fear of going blind. His training partners kept bailing on him to avoid getting smacked around - however rare an accurate hit from Pyxis may have been - and he quickly found that practicing on the metal dummies in the duelling club was the closest he was going to get to the real thing.
Despite this innate skill, Pyxis found that he had no talent for picking up on new spells in a timely manner. It would take months or even the full academic year for him to cast a new spell with remote success. Because of this, he shifted his focus onto the spells that he already knew, training them and putting all of his strength into practice until his hard work became a boon to his natural prowess. Pyxis wasn’t a perfect duellist (bad aim, sitting duck, slow at learning new spells), but when things did connect for him, he was always amazed by the strength of his power.

From a young age, Desislava has known that she would love to follow in her parents footsteps and find a species that interests her in order to study and participate in when it comes to research. Having grown up near and with a deep interest in the ocean, it only made sense that her choice was to study Mermaids and the different subspecies around the world. Mermish is a tricky language to understand and speak as when it is spoken above water, it sounds like screeching and harsh yelling as it was adapted to sound like any other lanaguage when the speaker was submerged underwater. Given the diversity of Mermaids, there is a genuine diversity with the way that the language is spoken and understood by humans despite its difficulty to master.
Desislava used the fact that her home was so close in proximity to the ocean to practice the language under the waves of the ocean. As a twelve year old, she hasn't seen a mermaid in person but is very intrigued and hopeful that she potentially could given the opportunity that she has with where it is that she is growing up. While her family does not actively associate with muggles, she has heard stories about what muggle children believe mermaids to look like and the way they sing. Despite knowing that the muggles are wrong, her obsession with Mermaids advances past typical pureblood fashion and she often finds herself doodling and drawing herself as a mermaid and then more accurate drawings of real mermaids.
Her ability to pick up mermish was slow but she found ways to practice in ways that moved her speaking skills along, such as petitioning her older brother Hristofer to learn the language with her despite his greater interest in Dragons and Hippogriffs like their father. With Hristofer's help, and the extra encouragement from her parents, she began to grasp the language better and hopes soon to actually practice with a mermaid if she is able to find one so as to ask them questions and study them further. She has sworn however, that one day while she was practicing, the sound of a mermaid's song came from somewhere deeper in the water than she could swim and she's insistent that if she yells loudly enough under the water that one day there will be a response. Of course as a twelve year old, her speech is choppy and her understanding is basic but she is slowly moving forward with understanding and fluidity in the spoken langauge. Her ability to write in mermish has also begun to get better though she definitely needs to work on her grammar and spelling so as to not accidentlly offend the mermaids she may meet.

Desislava is often underwater for her work and research which can make translations and spoken spells difficult to accurately pronounce. Even more so when the bubble-head charm is in place as it warps and disorts the words that are trying to be said which like butching a wand movement, can cause a spell to backfire or cast something completely different. While this is already a danger that exists above the ground, it is inherently more dangerous under the water or in a place where she is not able to safely fix the issue such as on the beach, on her surfboard, or around muggles. Having the ability to cast spells without speaking would allow for more discretion especially since the area of Mo'orea where Desislava lives is densely populated even for such a small island. Everyone knows everyone and if word got out about what it is she could do (even if there were wizards and witches present in secret) she would be forced to leave the island to hide her abilites which would severely hinder her research and her attempt to bridge the gaps between Humans and the spirits of the ocean as well as her research on Mermaid culture and species.
Nonverbal magic is also helpful in situations such as teaching as she is able to quickly solve problems before they become incidents such as if a student has set fire to one of her curtains or if they have smashed multiple of her crystal balls. She would be able to solve the problem while continuing to teach without any interruption to the rest of the class.
Nonverbal magic is also the sign of a skilled craftsman of the Magical arts. Desislava has a desire to be as advanced as she possibly can despite her wand not being geared towards the art of Charms (Thunderbird Tail Feathers produce more talented Transfiguration masters) having the ability to cast nonverbally may allow for her to have more potent spells due to the feeling that must be evoked in order to cast spells in general. By focusing on the spell internally rather than balancing it with speaking and thinking about the intent behind it, she will be able to produce more powerful magic.
While not a duellist anymore, the ability to cast nonverbally would strengthen her spells combined with her already somewhat high arcane power and accuracy. The ability to cast spells nonverbally is a powerful tool for duellists and those who are in situations which need a more secretive and deceptive approach. While Desislava doesn't not agree with deception for the sake of learning, she has encountered situations in the Oceans particularly where she needs to master the element of trickery (particularly with sharks)

Desislava spends much of her free time in the ocean and near mermaid groups where she studies the habits and features of the species for one of her books that she is currently working on. Unfortunately, in the deep blue sea, given that the waves and the water can be incredibly unpredictable, it is not always feasible to cast spells with a voice because of the bubblehead charm she typically uses to allow for breath. Given how expensive wands are as well, wands and the ocean do not always mix and a split second hesitation could mean life or death in a dangerous situation under the waves.
Desislava often uses a silicone mermaid tail to traverse under the waves and thus carrying anything other than a small bag can weigh her down despite casting charms to lighten the load. She chooses to bring as little as possible into the ocean to avoid contaminating anything with magical by-products as well as breaking the statue of secrecy which wands and magic casted from a wand would do. During her time in cleanups and at the beach swimming or surfing, having a wand is not safe for the good of Wizarding kind. She chooses to associate with the muggles around the islands that she visits so as to learn more about their beliefs in mermaids and the spirits of the ocean, anything she can possibly do to prevent her secrets from being spilled and outed.
Wandless magic is also handy when it comes to exploring sea life or when she is studying mermaid culture. Given that mermaids are quite wary of humans and wizardkind the lack of a wand would allow for Desislava to offer more trust to the creatures in hopes of perhaps bridging the gap between cultures. As well as spend more time observing them without fear of being attacked or chased away due to her status as Human. She very much would like to maintain a cordial relationship with the species given that the Ocean is heavily polluted by muggles and would like to help maintain a sense of safety for the species. Aside from mermaids, there are plenty of underwater species, both magical and non magical that tend to be frightened by humans brandishing sticks. Not having a wand to produce said spells would be beneficial in the long run as it would allow her to observe and care for the creatures she sees without fear of them swimming off or trying to attack her. Movement underwater, especially in situations where precise and accruate movement are obscured typically mean that spells can fluctuate and backfire. Without the resistance of a wand against the water, magic would be far more fluid and easy to handle.
Given that her wandcore is a Thunderbird Tail Feather, they tend to have purposeful and preemptive curse casting when the wand senses present danger. This, combined with the dangers of the ocean can be particularly difficult to handle when put together. With the need to keep yourself focused while diving and in the ocean in general, having to worry about a wand casting curses at items or creatures is not a worry that Desislava needs.

name of ability: Fearless
reason:
Luisa is an incredibly fun-loving kid with a remarkable knack for finding trouble—though, to be fair, not always on purpose. Most of her ideas are just... ill-advised. Dangerous? Definitely. But she never really saw the harm in any of it. Growing up in a wizarding family meant that injuries were rarely permanent. Fall off the roof? There’s magic for that. Get stung, bitten, or mildly set on fire (much to the distress of their house-elf)? Nothing a quick spell or potion couldn’t fix. And on the rare occasion things got a bit too serious, a visit to St. Mungo’s and a few days of rest had her back on her feet in no time.
Because she was always able to bounce back, Luisa kept pushing—more fun, more chaos, more hair-brained plans. The world never felt particularly dangerous to her, just... exciting. Curious. Worth exploring, even when it bit back.
This attitude didn’t come from nowhere. Luisa has three brothers, none of whom seem to understand the phrase “don’t touch that.” Boys are generally encouraged to be more adventurous, and their reckless behavior is often brushed off. But when her tutors and parents asked Luisa to “act more like a girl,” she saw no reason to let her brothers have all the fun. She raced them on toy broomsticks, snuck into neighbor’s tool sheds to mess with enchanted items, and even tried (multiple times) to sneak off with her parents’ wands. Her brothers liked to pretend they could do magic early—Luisa drew the line there. Everything else? Fair game.
To her, fear just didn’t make sense. The unknown wasn’t scary—it was a puzzle. That trunk might be a portkey. How would she know unless she fiddled with it? If it locked her inside, someone would come for her. And if not? She had lungs for a reason.
That’s not to say she’s never gotten seriously hurt—she’s had her fair share of time at St. Mungo’s after poking the wrong cursed artifact (thanks, curse-breaking parents). But even then, it never felt like too high a price. Curiosity always won out. And honestly? She’d probably do it again and in all honesty her family was glad that what was in the artifact was something so mild. damned thing was a puzzle box, if done wrong would give the user a mild magical sickness, nothing directly dangerous, just enough of a problem to need a healer's assistance. if thats the worst thats ever happened to Luisa, then really what is there to fear in life?

Circe sat on the floor of the rehearsal room and tied the ribbons of her pointe shoes around her ankles and calves. She glanced around the room at the other people practicing, a singer, a violinist, a pianist, a dancer. All lost in their own world just as Circe herself would soon be. She stands up and begins to stretch, starting by lifting herself up to pointe and back down. She rolls her neck around in a circle and starts to slowly swing her arms back and forth in circles. She leans down and touches her toes, before spreading her legs apart and bending back down to touch the floor. She slowly sinks down into a split, takes five deep breaths and switches sides. Then going to downward dog to cobra pose, before going into a bridge and rocking herself back and forth. Finished with her stretches, she stands up. She starts with relevés, before moving onto sautés, making no sound as she hits the floor. She then does tendus and glissades, quietly moving across the room. Passés and pirouettes are next, spinning herself around to the tempo the boy playing piano had set. As she lets muscle memory take over her movements, she remembers back on her ballet classes, back before she found out she had magic. She remembers her instructor, Madame Martin, instructing them on how to move in silence. Teaching the girls in the class to land on their toes and absorb their fall, to be graceful while moving, and to have intention in every movement. Madame Martin had the girls run around the practice room in their pointe shoes, and if she heard the sound of feet hitting the floor she would make the girls run another lap. Circe and her peers had started to practice walking lightly outside of ballet, to make it normal for their feet and to stop having to actively think about it. She remembers going out into the woods with some of the other girls and trying to copy their movements as they moved across leaves and twigs without a single rustle or crack. It took Circe months to be able to move like they did, but by now it was second nature. Back in the present, Circe went to one end of the room and started to do jetés across the floor, imagining how the better dancers would do impressive splits as they flew across the air and land without a sound only to do it again, the change between jumps being barely a second. Circe wanted to be like those girls, had always wanted to be like them. So she keeps practicing until her legs ache, never once making a sound.

I believe I am a very helpful person. Whenever I'm outside, I try to help animals - even insects, like ladybug or dragonflies - who are in trouble for whichever reason. I try to help plants too, if I see them drying, I water them. Once, our Kneazle broke his paw while falling out of a window. I literally cried when I saw it, then took him (he's heavy but I still took him) and carried him all the way down the street (which is around half a kilometre long), to the only witch neighbour we have, because my parents weren't at home that day. She was able to heal him fortunately, but I got hernia in the end, though I could never regret it.
Next reason, I'm really kind to people. I mean, my sense of humor might be, at times, rather dark, but I'm really nice and I try to help people too when they need it, of course. I mean, I always try to turn things into something witty, to eleviate the severeness of the situation. I also have a story for almost anything one could think of, in which it is likely some member of my family is starring.
If someone doesn't want me to, I don't force them to talk to me. I don't need to have things done my way. If someone prefers to do something differently, that's completely fine with me, I'd totally support them!
I also like talking very much! It might be annoying sometimes, and there are some people who really hate it. But fortunately, I have not met any here, at Hogwarts yet. But I think that I'm mostly not suggesting any nonsense. Trying to be as rational and logical as possible. That may be the reason why I ended up in Ravenclaw, as I reflect on it now. Also, my specialty is being curious and getting involved in adventures of all sorts.
I would say I prefer working in a team to working alone. When on a team, I try to be as helpful as possible. If someone attacked us, I'd totally choose to protect everyone, then ask the leader what's needed to be done and do it.
One of my favourite activities is supporting people. I mean, look at the Spring Soirée and our conversation with Dev.
I would also say I'm pretty charismatic, which might be the reason why people tend to like me.

This explanation doesn’t seem to work for the Lovely Creature ability. For your reference, this is the description: “You are so incredibly beautiful, it is hard to take one’s eyes off of you. Effect: You are very distracting to look at.” Please edit so that your description makes sense with this or choose a different ability that would work better with what you wrote. Also, the word count of the explanation is under the required 400 words.

Thank you for editing your post to reach 400 words! However, it still doesn't meet the ability description as Ruby explained above. Lovely Creature specifically refers to looks rather than the personality qualities of an individual. Please edit your application to match the description of the Lovely Creature ability.

Enela is a young girl with a near perfect eyesight. Her unique personality helped her be unique even before her Sorting ceremony that happened recently. Her eyesight, which allows her to see farther and better than anyone else, seemed to help her personality and role fit in the whole wizardly mess perfectly.
She first saw that she had this kind of talent during an Easter egg hunt, at first she didn’t really want to participate, but at one point she realized that she was really good at finding the eggs. Enela started being more interested in this hunt, she looked around and saw at least five eggs at once ! She understood that it wasn’t a mistake when she went to check if they were really eggs, she saw that if she really tried, she could see what she wanted. Enela was very observant, she always was, but sometimes she thought it wasn’t really useful. Even though she continued to be good at finding things and being observant about people, her surroundings…
Enela had always been fascinated by the details others overlooked. Whether it was the subtle shimmer of an enchanted object or the faintest movement of a creature hiding in the shadows, her talent for observation gave her an unparalleled connection to the world around her, she could see what others couldn’t and she was also more keen. She always had a thirst of understanding the world around her, and she could stay hours looking at a single object without moving. When she saw an object or thing as small or as big as it could be that interested her, she used her great eyesight to discover what it was and how it worked.
Her sharp vision was a reflection of her sharp mind—always seeking, always questioning, always yearning to uncover the truths hidden beneath the surface. Enela was not satisfied with the obvious facts that everyone could tell; she had an innate will to dive deeper, to see what others could not, and to understand the complicated gears of the magical realm.
Enela was patient and meticulous, this helped her develop her gift more easily. Because even if you have a good vision, you need the patience to find what you are looking for. She found joy in the process of discovery, in piecing together clues and mysteries. Her gift was not just a tool but an extension of her character.
As she began her magical education, it was clear that her sharp vision helped her in a lot of different subjects.

I think you may have misinterpreted the ability - it's not super sight that magically appears one day but rather being observant and good at finding things. The part about her vision completely changing and her then being able to see "microscopic" details will need to be changed.

I ran this writing through an AI checker after reading the instructions from the other members of the Index team. We use CopyLeaks, this has a high level of accuracy and explains why you are struggling to meet the request of the members of this team. In your own words, please write about how or why they have such keen eyes. It needs to be more than "born with it" and they derived these numerous benefits. What sort of things did you do to improve your perception. What hobbies, interests and sure some endowments like perfect sight contributed to this.

ReducioAndy has been through a lot when he was a student at Hogwarts, and the only thing that kept Andy from totally losing it was sports. Back at his muggle home Andy played all sorts of sports. He loved to play Soccer and Basketball, but here at Hogwarts, Quidditch was the only sport beside dueling and broom racing, which Andy isn't into. As he developed a intrest for Quidditch and made the Ravenclaw team as a keeper, he noticed he had a very nice talent. Saving people if they are knocked off there broom. Honestly, saving people in Quidditch was his top priorty other than saving the ball, passing, and sometimes even scoring, but saving was the boys favorite. Everyday the Scottish lad would drop wooden dummies on the ground and try to catch them. That is when he noticed that he had this talent. One of Andy's training sessions was legendary... and when I say legendary, know... I MEAN it. The lad really thought that this would be a perfectly normal training session, but boy was he wrong. As soon as he started dropping the dummies on the floor, he already felt the skill, all of the work he put into this... it was paying off. Not only did he catch EVERY SINGLE dummy, but he stated catching TWO at once. A lot of people say that all of this is easy, but sometimes you have to trust that it was NOT. Skipped dinner every time JUST to head to the Quidditch training pitch. It took him not days, [obviously] weeks, but a whole MONTH. Every month Andy practiced for 2 hours catching, sometimes dropping the dummies, but that day when he started catching TWO dummies at once, he knew that this was only the beggining. At this point Andy was so good at saving dummies, saving two at once was starting to get fairly easy. Now that is why you never give up. This was Andy's talent, and in sports, Andy never had a talent. Remember when I told you that he played soccer and basketball back in the muggle world, well, I never told you that he was GOOD at the sports. He usually sat at the bench, or was to busy to sit on the bench because he was out there on the court messing everything up! This was one of the only talents Andy had besides his ability to talk to new people without getting scared and being decently wise for a kid his age.

From the age of eight, Isla knew she was the perfect daughter—sharp, restless, and always buried in books. The library was her sanctuary, the only place where the weight of her father’s expectations didn’t crush her. He was a man of cold precision, of exacting tastes, and he had raised her to believe control was the highest virtue. Yet for all her discipline, she was hopelessly impulsive, making decisions that left even her breathless.
And then there was the other thing.
At first, it was small. A flicker of gold in her brown eyes when sunlight hit them just so. Hair that seemed darker after a scolding. She told herself it was nothing. But by the time her Hogwarts letter arrived, the changes no longer faded. They stayed.
Her body had become a traitor, and it was slowly driving her nuts.
When her father praised her, her skin smoothed to porcelain perfection, as if sculpted by his approval. When her mother snapped at her, her cheekbones sharpened into the same severe angles, her mouth thinning with identical disapproval. It happened without thought, without effort—a reflex, like flinching from fire.
And no one noticed.
No one except her grandmother.
The old woman’s gaze would catch hers over tea, milky eyes narrowing, muttering about the changes in a teasing tone, she knew what Isla was doing, and yet, the old woman never tried to stop it. The mirror held no answers, even after hours of staring at it, her features would change over and over again. Some days, her reflection was a stranger—lips too full, nose too straight, a face assembled from borrowed pieces. She’d press her palms to her cheeks and beg them to stay, but her magic thrummed beneath her skin, restless, hungry.
And then came the temptation.
Alone in her room, she’d let it happen. A stronger jaw. A softer smile. The face of the girl her father expected her to be. For a moment, it was exhilarating—power thrumming through her, beautiful and terrible.
Then the terror would rush in.
What if I forget how to change back?
What if I’m already gone?
She tried to stop. But her father’s voice slithered through her thoughts: Potential like yours shouldn’t be wasted. And the worst part? She listened, she listened, because she didn’t remember how to be anyone else, and making her father proud had become her top priority without realizing it.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Binding Mark (Second Year)
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):Reducio
While in modern day Lawrence Maynard was a tattoo aficionado, painting his body in the artistry of his life story and prophecy, this was not always the case. The addiction to the ink first came about when he was but a second year pewari under the instruction of his dukun Denbeigh. From the beginning of their tutelage, Denbeigh had shown his pewari that there were many different manifestations of magic such as his binding mark, akin to a third eye with lines of light piercing through it. Denbeigh explained how the elder dukun of the island used such magic to communicate more easily and allow them peace within their meditative practices to perform in pure silence but still remain connected, should they be required.
Following the devastating loss of his once mentor Lawrence had the binding mark he saw so many years ago tattooed into his own skin, while it was a mere copy of the man's mark, he felt Denbeigh's guiding hands showing him the path whenever he needed it. A symbol that even in death the man was a part of Lawrence. With his predilection towards the magic it hadn't taken long for him to hound his former dukun over the tradition and history of its creation. Lawrence was like a wild animal when it came to absorbing information, a hunger that lived within him always sought to know more and tinkered with how it might be used in new ways. The scope for magic had no limits in the wild imaginations of the young Aussie.
Before he learned the magic itself he spent hours alone with the sky, atop the mountains in Elang Jawa staring up at the constellations, picturing what style might best suit his own. The moon was symbolic for lots of magic, in both tribal and modern wizarding cultures they looked at it as a symbol of celestial power. Yet it was it's power over the water that drew Lawrence's main inspiration. As an avid swimmer, surfer and diving enthusiast much of Lawrence's free time was spent spiralling through the waves, water lapping over him gentle and rough, strong and calm. The water was the home that he was always drawn back to, without it he would be incomplete and without the moon these simple pleasures that detailed his life would be gone. Thus the devotion for the symbol was set.
The almost full moon rendered upon his skin like the smudged stroke of a brush, seemingly an unfinished cycle, broken and warped. Lawrence's own binding mark was a testament to the way the moon controlled the waves. It was a detailed crescent with water smudge marks breaking up the drawing into four sections; symbolic of the four members of his family, a mother, father and two sisters. It was a story of his devotion to the water and to the moon and more than anything a devotion to the places he called home. Family was the ultimate definition of his home for it was the people who without life would have no meaning and the water was his spiritual home where he could best find ease and deal with the hardships of life. Above them all was the moon, a place of connection that he could look up and know his family were under its light too; and the cause of balance for the waters that balanced him.

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):ReducioAfter Lawrence's seer abilities kicked into full effect and prophecies started to etch themselves onto his tongue and seep into his mind he found his entire concept of the senses were heightened. While he was always intuitive enough to avoid danger suddenly he found himself even quicker as if he could sense threats and spells before they happened. Little flashes of outcomes began to flicker in front of his eyes making him harder to hit in sports when spells or obstacles were flung his way. In fights he would get brief sensations telling him when to duck and weave and the longer he honed onto it the stronger the sense grew.
However, it couldn't be reasoned that Lawrence's mental abilities were the only reason for this new found evasiveness. No, the young pewari of Tenūsa did not just spend time honing his mental aptitude but his physical fortitude. Waking in the early hours of the morning before the crawdads could sing and the sun had roused its head Lawrence would be surfing on the waves of the Isle of Divinations waters. Fighting against the magically enhanced currents gave him a level of control over his body unlike that of his peers. This dedication would be continued over the course of years and it seemingly was certainly paying off. In addition to his mastery over the waves an Indonesian local of Omah Geni trained him in the martial art of pencak silat, teaching him to overcome adversaries and track the motion of another so that he could not only read them with his third eye but with the other two.
The combination of these effects led him to great success in both his sporting and magical career. Being able to effectively dodge against oncoming attacks, seeing them coming in his mind and contorting his body to follow. He had adapted the fluidity of the water into his form and worked his body to the brink in order to achieve the maximum control over his physical self. A dedicated practice he would continue well into the future. This training became just yet another part of his routine, a routine he carries to this day. It has served him well a number of times over the year from daring escapades through the many jungles of Southeast Asia, to dodging the many temper tantrums of his nephews and nieces. His natural ability to sense and avoid danger keeping him safe from all sorts of threats.
Word Count: 411Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Apparition (Sixth Year)STATUS: Approved, Dorion Anderson, April 24, 2025
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):ReducioThe day Lawrence first apparated was a momentous occasion. Unlike the rigid rules of the western wizarding world, Tenūsa did not process such an examination as a showcase or presentation of the ability but instead it was simply seen as a transition some determined themselves capable of and others did not. Typically this decision was made by the pewari's dukun and often wizards and witches would find themselves banned from attempting such things. Lawrence had begged Denbeigh to teach him the ancient art and while at first he thought the old man was denying him his wishes, it turned out he couldn't have been further from the truth.
The old wizard was a great seer and his judgement on things was considered as paramount so had he outright denied it Lawrence likely would have been forced to bow to such wisdom. Yet, unbeknownst to the young pewari, Denbeigh had been training them from the very beginning, arming them with the best chance for success. Every day at the start and end of their classes Lawrence, Denbeigh and Poelina would gather themselves directed towards the relevant celestial body, cross their legs and stare off into the distance in a ritual of deep meditation. Without fail the exercise would be done and, for the most part, when the two pewari weren't at each others throats, the meditation would attain genuine peace and solitude.
For a while all they would do was sit there and reflect upon their inner consciousness. Denbeigh was always conscious for Lawrence to focus inward in order to reflect best on the outside. He spoke of the wisdom within and how it was necessary to listen to his conscience to better understand his gifts. Of course, at that period, Lawrence hardly considered his sight for the precious resource so many claimed it to be, but he respected his dukun more than anything and always did his best to follow in his footsteps.
As they sat in meditation Denbeigh would tell them to transport themself to a place they knew well within their mind's eye. A place of comfort and of importance, the kind of location one could remember even the smallest of details, a place they could paint within their heads. For Law it was the small swings they had outside their house in Melbourne. Attached to the fiery branches of an Illawarra flame tree he and his family had used to sit out there for hours. Lawrence could practically smell the soft Australian air, the familiar laundry detergent seeping from the kitchen window. For the briefest of times it would feel like he was almost truly there but when his eyes reopened upon command he'd find himself still sat with Denbeigh and Poelina on an Isle thousands of leagues away. The more the years passed, the more vivid the sensation became but despite the initial disorientation he always found himself back on the Isle. What Lawrence was blissfully unaware of was that this was not due to his inability to successfully apparate but due to the wards protecting the Isle.
It was the new years eve of 1993 when he would finally be permitted to perform this feat and whether it was his sight or pure drive, he knew he would be destined to succeed. Lawrence and Poelina had frankly been outraged when the news had been broke of their disallowance to return for winter break. The punishment felt unjust when blamed on a stupid argument the pair had gotten into the week prior but in deepest respect of their tutor they obeyed the chain of his command. In a sense Lawrence was silently grateful, for Christmas was always merely a reminder of his parents inability to handle their divorce amicably. New Years Eve, however, was a time he shared with his sisters, a tradition long since upheld that had never been broken regardless of their own personal boundaries. No fight could prevent it, no distance would not be traversed. It was their celebration, thus to not attend was non optional. He would apparate even if it killed him.
Sailing out on Denbeigh's jukung they left the protection of the Isle where the waters became treacherous and threatened the inexperienced. Fighting against the elements was but another part of their training; Denbeigh had told them of the dangers of splinching, of leaving parts of oneself behind if they were not prepared for everything and thus he moulded them by that preparation. Taking his meditative stance while the boat rocked dangerously in the dark waters he tuned out the world around him and focused on the place within. allowing himself to blend with the waves. Become one with the journey he was on. Stretching his consciousness miles past the ocean until he reached the coastline of Melbourne within his mind. Lawrence wormed his way through streets past houses until he found his own and passing through he made his way towards the tree. A place he had spent near countless hours in companiable silence, a place he had cried countless times and a place he so dearly wished he could return to.
Stood under its branches he could feel the cooling sensation of the shade against the blazing Australian summer heat. The light jingle of laughter echoed through him so close he was sure he could touch it and when it brought a smile to his face he heard the reassuring voice of Denbeigh telling him to reach out for it. To not simply envision himself there but to feel the wood of the seat beneath him, to feel the grass between his toes and root himself there like the tree behind him. With a ripping like pull he found his vision all of a sudden go entirely black before spots of red began to filter through and upon opening his eyes he found himself exactly where he had intended. A small crack pierced the air around him as he came driving his family out the house who embraced him with open arms.
Eventually Denbeigh would appear too and seeing that Lawrence was unscathed from the incident, provided him his license from the Australian ministry.
Word Count: 1009Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Restricted Charms Section (Adult I)STATUS: Approved, Dorion Anderson, April 24, 2025
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):ReducioDelving into the forbidden arts of magic was never something Lawrence particularly intended on pursuing. It would be frankly a lie to claim that the young man had never had interest in such subjects, in fact quite the opposite for he was always fascinated by the wider implications of simple spells. How one could be used in a variety of ways for multiple purposes. Lawrence supposed that it was the reason he was so drawn to charms, for one spell could possess a number of variables all interchangeable to achieve a different result. A singular spell could be manipulated in any number of ways and the whole thing just fascinated him.
However, under Denbeigh's tutelage Lawrence was steered clear from forms of magic that could in his dukun's thoughts corrupt or influence him. It would be fare to say that there was no part of Lawrence that was ever refined despite his heritage; but more so than that there was a part of him that seemed to favour that which was best left hidden. His sight had always directionally pointed him towards danger, had always foretold prophecies of nightmare and hurt and such an effect had lasting implications. The boy himself was quite sure that corruption already lived within his inner eye, perhaps that had been the very corruption Denbeigh was worried of progressing.
Yet after the incident of his final year at Tenūsa, when he fled in the dead of night never to return, forbidden magic had never been more necessary. Lawrence was particularly interested in the field of memory, not for the nefarious reasons that many others may use but for the manipulation of his own. Legilimency and occlumency were things he had never been able to truly grasp and thus he found himself stuck down a path that lead to only one solution. If that solution was to lead him into darkness he couldn't be sure, but the things he had seen haunted the young man from the second he left the Isle and every night since. Waking up in floods of sweat, screaming past his lungs breaking point, struggling to breath; there was only so much more he could take.
Thus he would set out on the journey to discover such restricted magic, and along the way find more than he originally bargained for. In the end, under the most unlikely source, of his former classmates father, Lawrence would learn that spells were not the only solution for his problem. Traveling all the way into the bush Lawrence had initially sought out his grandfather to take over his training and become his dukun but instead he would be sent to Coen Poelina. From the aboriginal wizards of the outback he learned rituals that furthered his divination and sight and studied tomes with spells he never thought and perhaps, in Denbeigh's mind, never should have learned. While he would keep these spells ready for whenever they may become useful, in the end Lawrence never felt himself slip into corruption. Yet, much like himself, Denbeigh was a seer and what future awaited him was still to be revealed.Word Count: 520STATUS: Approved, Dorion Anderson, April 24, 2025

Kyra always dreamed of being a part of one of the sports teams that Slytherin had because of the tradition within her own family. Everyone joined one of the teams, whether it was dueling, Quidditch, or Broom Racing. With luck on their side, Kyra was accepted on the Broom Racing team, where she will face many mental and physical obstacles throughout the years.
Being on the Broom Racing team meant a lot to Kyra, and she was determined to do the best possible, even when the odds were not in her favor. This would motivate the young Slytherin to get better, and there was no better way to do that than to practice every day. The training pitch was where it would start because Kyra was not the most gifted when it came to flying a broom, let alone racing through dangerous obstacles! That’s exactly why she would spend as much time flying as she could because of the determination and motivation ran deeper than Kyra even thought.
On this particular day, the wind was roaring, trees bending slightly with each breeze, and a storm seemed to be stretching across the sky toward Hogwarts. Kyra didn’t care because she was still at the training pitch with the broom in hand. ”Today I conquer the wind.” She thought to herself, standing tall and looking out at the vast field where Kyra stood. The feeling of being a part of the Broom Racing team was exhilarating and had Kyra ready for everything that was going to be thrown her way, especially with the right training.
With the air at their back, Kyra gripped the broom that was held tightly within their right hand, and she slowly mounted it before looking ahead, scouting exactly where she should fly off. Kyra pushed off the ground, and the Nimbus broom darted off straight ahead, nearly pulling the young Slytherin right off the broom. Luckily, Kyra was able to regain control by gripping close to the tip of the broom with both hands and using that leverage to help steer the broom where she wanted to go.
While Kyra hovered high above the Quidditch Pitch, she noticed a student in the distance who was flying through some sort of obstacles. It was further away from the pitch, but Kyra needed to advance her skills on a broom, so she instinctively flew off and headed straight for the student the young girl saw moments ago. Kyra was more than eager to learn and even more determined to get better at what she loved. She had yet to have an official race of any kind, but Kyra was prepared for anything and willing to put others before her own needs, which made her a great teammate.
Once the young Slytherin girl managed to catch up to the student, it looked as if they were following one of the practice courses for all those who enjoyed racing and for those aiming to hone their skills. She smirked widely and pushed forward on the nose of the broom, hoping to gain a small burst of speed to finally catch up to the student. Kyra was eager to see who it was and maybe get a few tips on Broom Racing in the process.
Just as Kyra slowly pulled up next to the unknown student, the boy looked over and acted a bit shocked. He thought that he was completely alone, but that was not the case. The younger boy didn’t say a word. Instead, he waved softly and continued to fly at the same pace. Kyra didn’t want to feel like a complete bother to the student who seemed to be having a peaceful ride, but the competitor in the young girl wanted to test their abilities with a live race. ”How about a race to the end?” Kyra asked playfully.
For a moment, Kyra thought the student didn’t hear her, but then he turned his attention to her as they were flying and smiled warmly. “One lap! First one back here is the winner.” The boy spoke with a deep British accent. The excitement the young girl began to feel was only the beginning. This was the very first time Kyra was racing with anyone, so she knew that this was the time to prove that she was the perfect fit for the Broom Racing team. Kyra had a feeling this was not going to be easy at all, but she accepted the offer happily.
As both students darted forward to begin their race, the wind seemed to pick up more, and that alone was enough to cause each of them to sway back and forth. This gave Kyra an idea that she would certainly put into play with the next gust of wind. The boy had already started to pull ahead, and Kyra was getting annoyed to no end, so she leaned forward even more to create better aerodynamics that would help speed the young girl up slightly.
Just when Kyra was catching up to the other student, a gust of wind came sweeping by them that caused Kyra to veer off in the direction of the other racer. With the help of the wind, Kyra put some of their weight to the right in order to help cause more of an impact when the racers would collide. They did just that! But luckily, both students remained on their brooms and continued to focus on the winding obstacles ahead.
Each of the students were keen on completing the lap and winning the non-official Broom Race, and Kyra was going to do everything in their power to make sure that she was the first one back to where the race began. They were still neck and neck with one another and that made it hard to tell who was currently winning the race. Kyra and the boy glanced at one another every so often, then Kyra would quickly nudge the boy with a little contact from their broom. This was her way of eyeing up the next way she would slam into him, without hurting the boy in the process of it all.
BAM! Kyra pulled away just enough to gain enough distance to slam into the student once more. The boy’s broom cracked on contact and began to spiral out of control. The final turn was coming up, and Kyra felt the victory slip away with the move she made against the boy. He was yelling, but luckily the fall wasn’t too far, and to the boy’s luck, he fell onto a large bush that broke their fall nearly entirely. The young girl felt horrible about the situation, but from what her father told her when she was a mere toddler, it was to make sure you’re victorious no matter the cost. This is something she continue to use in any Broom Race that the young girl was involved in, because winning meant everything to her when it came to racing.
