Another question: Is there a way to filter threads by tags? Say if I wanted to find every thread with the tag "Open".

You can click on the search buttom in the bottom-right of your screen, search [Open] and choose "search in topic titles only" and "show results as topics" under search options

Yes! That's actually the only way you can get a specific wand for your iNPC. From the NPC FAQs:

Presently, we do not have a wand system for iNPCs so we ask that you avoid detailing anything about your iNPC's wand including length/wood/core. The exception is iNPCs that have taken the wandmaker ability, meaning they get their wand listed in their trunk and can freely discuss its details in RP.

a. Saved up for the broom through daily scholarship
b. Received it from their houses broom donation.
