Ophelia watched the game unfold. There was so much at stake at the beginning of a quidditch match. The seeker had to spot the snitch, the chasers and keepers had to make sure that the quaffle was in the right hands. The beaters had to come up with a strategy. In Ophelia's mind, the beginning of a quidditch match truly set a team up for failure or success.

Ophelia leaned over to one of her fellow benched teammates, @Avis Greymond. Perhaps they could talk about the game a bit, strategise? But it didn't seem to be working... perhaps neither of their ideas were any good.

"Wooo! Go Aly you got this!" Aston weren't exactly friends with the older year but she was certainly a familiar face. That party, or rave, from last year was certainly a fun time, not to mention she always did good work for the quidditch team. Did he congratulate her after she became co-captain? He should. Overall it was a decent start for the Ravenclaw team, already scoring 40 points from Lavinia, their other captain and they got some bludger hits in! Hopefully its all good news from here.

With enthusiastic excitement settling in her chest for the last match of the season, Avery does her best to follow along with the happenings all across the field. Spotting Dahpne immediately locking on to what could only be the snitch brings a smile to her face, though it doesn't settle for long. Distracted as she was, it was only at the last second that she noticed a bludger rocketing across the field from the opposing beater she was supposed to be keeping an eye on.

Avery lurched forward to try and intercept the bludger, only to miss by a mile. She winces at the call out that rings across the stadium, still tracking the bludger now targeting the Ravenclaw team of it's own accord when a heavy impact drives the air from her and nearly topples her from the broom. She scrabbles to keep hold of both bat and broom as she wheezes slightly to try and regain her bearings. Right. That sucked. But she was still in the match yet.

In support of his Chasers, Jorah planned to clear their path by eliminating the enemy Keeper. Without Atlas protecting their hoops, scoring goals would be all too easy. Jorah swung his bat and sent a bludger rocketing straight for Atlas. BAM!!! What?!? The bludger smacked him dead center in the chest. It looked like Atlas was down for the count, but somehow he managed to stay on his broom. The next thing Jorah knew Atlas was beelining towards him. Before he could react, they collided and it was Jorah who was falling. How the turn tables. Luckily he was saved by a familiar face. "Quinn, I owe you one."

Stats: +4 to 2 stats of choice. They must be declared at the start of the game.
Ability: Has an increased capacity. Can carry 3 people. Includes the following three skills:

In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).
In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Note: For the rules lawyers out there: you are not considered your own ally.
In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

Were things going bad? Not really. In fact, they seemed to be going well at first -- 40 points for Ravenclaw right off the bat, all thanks to their dear captain. Then came the bludgers; her fellow beater fired at Atlas, and Ebony herself swung her bat and shot the iron ball towards Avery. Unfortunately, both of them managed to hang onto their broom -- just barely. Those were two resilient badgers indeed. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the Hufflepuff Keeper, who was evidently alight with fury and hungry for revenge, hurtling towards Jorah. She could only watch in dismay as he was shoved off his broom.

Atlas intently waited for the game to begin, her eyes continually scanning the field. Cocking her head slightly to the side, Atlas relaxed herself as the pitch erupted into motion. Determined to contribute to her team's aggressive strategy, Atlas immediately abandoned her posts. While she detested the other team getting some free points, she had to hope that their plan would put Ravenclaw on the back foot.

Before she even had a chance to situate herself, however, Atlas was nearly forced off her broom by the sudden thunderous impact of a bludger. The careening bludger disoriented her but her grip tightened just enough to keep her flying. Groaning with sudden pain, Atlas' brow furrowed as she tracked down the culprit. Darting after them and staying low, she knew she had a good angle to take them out of the game. Forcefully attacking the beater with a well-timed blatch, Atlas grinned through her own pain as she watched the beater plummet. Huffing to herself as a teammate saved Jorah, Atlas darted back into the chaos of the pitch.

Keepers Catch
10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separately from the attack roll.

Broom: Varapidos (+3 to all stats) (Enganação. This literally means "cheat" and is a basically the art of sleight of hand for Brazilian Quiddich players. When a Quiddich player attempts to use the "cheat" action where they attempt to cast a spell while in a game, they succeed once per game automatically. Must declare alongside cheat action. All subsequent attempts to cheat have a 10% automatic "not noticed by the spectators" effect.)

The match started with a surprising turn of events, as both the senior Ravenclaw Chasers pressured Jess. Righteous anger swelled up inside Camilla -- but for all that she wanted to jump into the fray, she had had a different Quarry: the other Ravenclaw Chaser.

A blink. A beat. A tick.

What was she doing? Camilla felt zoned out, like she was outside her body, being an observer from the outside.

"HEY. HeY, that's punishing a thought crime!" she all but shot back at the referee.

Landon gasped as he watched the game begin, though he was cheering eagerly at Tesla because he wanted to encourage her to play well. Really, he was cheering the whole team, but his focus was on Tesla at this time. He shuddered a little as he watched the action unfurl, wincing as Atlas took a hard hit from a bludger. He was nervous now. Atlas was so reliable as a Keeper and now Landon was genuinely nervous about having to go into the game. But he had trained for this, and he knew he could do it.

Avis glanced at her fellow benched teammate hopelessly. It didn't seem like any of their ideas were helping much so she just shrugged.

"I don't know what else we can think of. Look - their seeker's already seen the Snitch... Merlin, and Jorah's hit Lavinia by accident!" Avis pointed out as the Beater's iron ball made direct contact with the Ravenclaw Chaser. She winced. Usually during games, she was just itching to get out there, but this one was shaping up to be a bit of a disaster so far. Avis sighed and found herself to be surprisingly content with just watching for now. At least they were still up by 40...
