Cassius was by no means a tactical expert when it came to duelling. Sure, he considered himself to be rather good at it; but, he knew he was prone to mistakes. Usually, however, he was good enough to be able to anticipate what an opposing duellist was going to do. He had fully expected the Hufflepuff side to continue their attack on Kim. Instead, there was nothing.
The Ravenclaw moderator tilted his head in slight confusion as he tried to figure out what the Hufflepuffs were attempting to do even as Gryffindor launched a salvo of mostly successful attacks. If this was a new tactic, it did not appear to be working for the badgers as both Hades and Julian were hit with some fairly damaging spells. Hades was miraculously still up and Julian had seemingly finally succumbed to the mucus.
Overall, things were not going well for the Hufflepuff side but crazier things have happened in duels. Perhaps there was yet a surprise to come.

The thing had become quite tense, because they were about to reach in the middle of the rounds, or so Hades believed. He was severely hit by double, by both girls of Gryffindor prompting him to be enormously angry. It became evident because by the time he was to cast the spell, he had no mercy and went straight for Kim. The spell struck in full, and he remained admiring with an indifferent expression, did not even say anything, only evaluating the damage.
During the next round, he was distracted by some reason that he didn’t want to tell. It seemed that Kim wanted to take revenge using the Flipendo, but before Kim, Rose was who threw Confringo, leading him to stand barely but he seemed to be resisting hard. He looked at them with a competitive expression, his whole body tense and ready to fight even if it was the last thing he could do. And he didn’t care if he was going to end up in the hospital wing but he was going to fight.

Nicky was wondering what made the hufflepuff team just stand around, maybe it was some kind of a new tactic to make them let their guard down. Anyway, she wasn't going to let it confuse her and she had no time to analyze the suspicious hufflepuff behavior. She had a game to win and a responsibility to make sure her team would definitely be the most spectacular of all.

Elsa landed a fire-making spell, and Kim landed a Knock back Jinx. While Rose's blasting curse didn't hit its target, Hades, the blast still seemed to do a little damage anyway. Plus, Rose was just happy she was able to cast it correctly- the blasting curse required more power, focus, and skill than some other spells that came naturally to her, so it was satisfying for her practice with the spell to be paying off. Either way, all three Gryffindors shot spells towards their opponents, but strangely... none of them tried to cast anything back that round.
Rose blinked as she realized this. That was weird. Were they giving up?

Jake cursed himself as he gripped his wand. He had thought he was over freezing up in a duel. But things had gotten off to such a bad start, Hades had taken so much spellfire, and Julian had hit the ground - although his friend was on his feet now he still looked pretty…out of it. Jake hoped Julian wasn’t concussed or something. Sure with magic it was easy to undo that kind of thing, but it still wasn’t pleasant. All that to say that when it came down to it, Jake hesitated, trying to think of his next move until it was too late. He was a captain…he couldn’t let THAT happen again.
He turned back to his opponents, determined to make up for it before this duel was through

Was Julian having the worst possible duel? He was convinced of it. To be fair, Hades was likely having a worse one, but he was too out of it to notice. He'd gone from being barely able to breathe or move on the ground to making it on shaky feet and still being unable to do anything but focus on not passing out, wand hanging uselessly at his side.
It was just great.
It was just great.

The duel continued with heavy attacks from the Gryffindor side looking to capitalize on their advantage. Both Rose and Kim targeted Hades who, perhaps sensing he was the next target given how shaky he looked on his feet, cast a solid shield charm which caused both spells to dissipate upon its form.
Smart, Cassius thought to himself. It was likely that either spell, had it hit, had the potential to knock the boy unconscious.
All was not defense for the badgers. Jake managed a partially successful knockback jinx upon Kim who was also looking a bit shaky. Meanwhile Julian was still having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Though he had recovered from the debilitating effects of the previous spells, he was now on fire -- in two places! Poor guy.
Somehow everybody was still up although at least two were looking much worse for wear after this recent exchange.
