Battle of the Seasons Summer Camp 2024 PV to Sign-ups

Mellani was only attending the camp because she did not want to go home. Especially after how her last vacation had been. She was living in the same tent as her bestie Linda, and had decided to participate in at least a few events so she did not get bored, the Battle of the Seasons being one of them.

Mellani had been assigned to the chilly Team Winter. It was like two to three months of snow had not been enough for the people organizing the events. Not that Mellani did not appreciate the efforts put in by the organization team, but Mellani really liked the summers, and although the idea was creative, Mellani felt that it was destroying the point of the summer vacation.

Mellani looked around and noticed that there was literally no one in her team who she knew. That was probably expected seeing how less she interacted with people. She had barely four of five friends at Hogwarts, and she did not even talk to those few much. She knew she should be more social, but she could not help her personality. Nevertheless, she really wished that she could have someone to talk to.

Mellani shook the thoughts from her head and decided to concentrate on the game. She tried to think of this game like quidditch. She had to decide who to hit or whether to take cover or catch one of the water balloons.

Of all the English words that could have ever come out of Sara Kohana's mouth, "prude" was the last one EmmaLee thought she would never hear.

"Oh-O'aiyo, Sara." She finally said after a moment of stunned, and, admittedly, a little bit embarrassed, silence. "Um, did someone call you a prude?" She asked, worry lining her pale brow. She also couldn't fathom anyone calling Sara a prude, but how else would he have heard the word? Was Midorimori-san pressuring him? EmmaLee twisted her fingers together for a moment, trying to think of a way to explain the meaning. She herself had only ever heard it in movies that she had seen at Grace's home and the French girl was finding it hard to explain what it meant, or what it seemed to mean, when Sara himself had not the largest English vocabulary. She hummed in thought.

"It's, like, when someone is modest.... hmm... conservative might be a clearer word, about the way they dress and about certain kinds of umm especially physical affection. Their partner might get upset and call them a prude. It's um... It's usually an insult when they don't want to do something physically intimate with someone, either in public or private or they don't want to wear something their partner wants them to." She said thoughtfully, hoping that she had explained the word adequately. She didn't really feel like she did, but it was such an odd question coming from someone three years older than her. She imagined there was some Japanese equivalent word that Sara definitely knew, but there was no way EmmaLee's father would be teaching her such a word, ever.

Just as EmmaLee was finishing her explanation to Sara and was about to introduce him to Aurélie, Stephen caught her attention and she turned and was stunned into silence once more at the sight of Stephen without a shirt on. For about three whole seconds she forgot to breathe, then started to quietly, hopefully conspicuously, breathe too fast, before she put her hand up to her face, pretending to shield her eyes from the sun, but actually angling her hand so she couldn't see him anymore.

Talk about being a prude. Stephen was already distracting enough with a shirt on.

"I, uh, yeah." She said, finding her tongue, and trying to reign her mind in from going any further about the various ways she found Stephen distracting. "Just a moment." She said, turning back around and addressing Sara and Aurelie.

"Sara, this is my friend, Aurélie, I also met 'er for the first time at the Spring ball. She's really sweet and I'm really glad we all were put on a team together. Aurélie, Sara Kohana." She said, gesturing from one to the other and back again with a wide smile. She put a reassuring hand on Sara's forearm. "'E's shy, but really nice as well." She said to Aurélie. "I'll be right back." She said, squeezing Sara's arm a bit before releasing it and trotting over to Stephen.

"It seems Miles is the rotten eggs." EmmaLee said with a small giggle as she came over, grabbed the sunscreen, and put some on the tips of her fingers. As much as she tried, she couldn't repress the sharp, quiet inhale as her fingers met the firm place between his shoulder blades, and electricity shot up her fingers.

If she could blush all the way to her toes, she would.

She focused a little too hard on trying to breathe normally, forgetting to breathe and then breathing too fast to compensate at moments instead, as she quickly, but thoroughly covered his back in sunscreen where it seemed to be missing. "'E is on Team Winter, though." She responded with another small chuckle as she finished and rubbed the leftover sunscreen on her knee-length shorts. "I saw 'is name on the list." She poked Stephen in the middle of the back playfully and then moved around him and started heading back over to Sara and Aurélie.

"Come over 'ere with us. Sara's 'ere, too," She said, turning to Stephen with a smile and gesturing for him to follow her. "and my friend, Aurélie. We can be a team inside the team." She finished with a small chuckle.

Sage roamed the Winter side of the arena, her whistle held at the ready. Every time a snowball or water balloon would fly, she watched it. The first balloon to be thrown was by Eugenia Karageorgiadi of Team Summer, aiming at Mylo Atkins. Mylo was able to catch the balloon, redirecting it to Pyxis Hellebore. Pyxis dodged the balloon without being hit.

"A nice throw by Eugenia, only to be caught by Mylo who is redirecting it to Pyxis Hellebore! And Pyxis has made it out of the balloon's path, and is safe!" Sage narrated for the spectating crowd.

Another balloon flew over to the Winter side, thrown by Irina Zvereva. Ayumi Faeri, the target of the balloon managed to catch it.

"Another great throw by Team Summer, but Ayumi has caught it! And she's throwing it back at Victoria Lena Jones, but she misses!" Sage paused to see another balloon flying. "Team Winter is getting in on the actions- Ariam Vargas is aiming at Violeta Roux! They've missed- Violeta is in the clear!"

Oonagh Brown went to aim at Cyrus Darsel, one of the oldest on the field! Alas, Cyrus caught it and threw it towards Violeta.

"Oonagh Brown's throw at Cyrus Darsel has been caught! Cyrus is redirecting the balloon to Violeta... and she's out! Violeta, thanks for participating. Feel free to join the spectators!"

The first out in the game would be Violeta Roux of Team Summer, putting Winter in the lead. Those participating and those spectating could notice a slight shift of the Winter territory over the Summer territory to signify that Winter was in the lead.

"And Stephen Schwartz is throwing at Miles, but Miles gets out of the way just in time! And what's this going on? Tone Bakugo and Jamie Carville have both got snowballs going towards Victoria Lena Jones from different directions! Victoria is hit by both snowballs at the same time, growing Winter's lead, but getting Victoria out. Thanks for joining us, Victoria!"

Sara Kohana threw a fastball over at Tone Bakugo, hitting Tone. "Tone Bakugo of Team Winter is out! Summer's fighting to even out the lead! Feel free to join the spectators, Tone!" Sage glanced over the sandy side of Summer, to see Lemmy LaRue trying to hit his teammate Natalie Anderson, only to miss. "Uh, Lemmy! You're supposed to aim at the other team! Nevertheless, Lemmy LaRue missed hitting his teammate Natalie Anderson, and is now aiming for Xiomara Torres! Xiomara accidentally bumps into Quentin Gagné who stays upright while trying to dodge, but is successful and is not hit!

Another balloon from Summer flew, thrown by Andrew Lycan, this time hitting Mylo Atkins in his attempt to catch. Sage blew her whistle. "A throw by Andrew Lycan from Team Summer takes out Mylo Atkins! Thanks for playing, Mylo, but you're out."

Ruby Night from Team Winter chucked a snowball towards Colby Vidler, hitting her. "Another person out! This time Colby Vidler of Summer is taken out by Ruby Night! Go ahead and join the spectators, Colby!" Sage paused for a second to see a balloon hit Ruby, thrown by Aurélie Nathalie Duval. "Looks like Summer has gotten their revenge! Aurélie Nathalie Duval has successfully hit Ruby Night! Thanks for playing, Ruby, hope you had a good time!"

A snowball went whizzing across the field, hitting Renelle Dalton. "Whoa! A fastball by Aston Beckett hits Renelle Dalton! You're out, Renelle! And now we've got Reuben Garcia aiming at Lorelai Diniz, but Lorelai gets out of the way!"

Another player from Team Summer was taken out, this time Atticus Drake hit by Kanae Suzuki. "Atticus, you're out, but thanks for joining us! And now Xiomara Torres is aiming at Oonagh Brown! But Oonagh dodges the throw! But Cass Ito tries to hit her, but Oonagh dodges again! It seems it'll take something powerful to take her out!"

Two more snowballs were thrown, only to have their targets dodge both attacks. "Allister-Jameson MacAllister attempts to get Sara Kohana out, but Sara manages to dodge the attempt! And Acacia tries throwing at Pyxis like so many have tried, but misses just like those who have aimed at the kid from Summer before."

One of the older kids on Team Winter, Kim Sato, successfully hits Alliasta Holista. Sage blew her whistle and pointed at the exit. "A nice throw by Kim Sato hits Alliasta! You're out, Alliasta! And another member of Team Winter, Alejandro Garcia, throws a snowball at Nathan Hawthorn! Nathan is hit! Thanks for joining us, Nathan!"

Two more water balloons were thrown, both aiming at Kim Sato who had just taken out Alliasta. The first, thrown by EmmaLee LeDames, missed him. However, the second, thrown by Rose Moon hit Kim. "Rose Moon has hit Kim! You're out, but thanks for joining us today!"

Rules:

2. The deadline to post is 7 days (168 hours) after the most recent moderation post.
3. All actions must be owled to your respective team's moderator (@Sage Willows for Team Winter and @Rebecca Lark for Team Summer) by the deadline. Your action should be stated clearly, such as "throwing a water balloon from behind a sand dune". Actions may be submitted individually, in small groups, or as a whole team. Please refer to the "Game Mechanics" reducio below for available actions.
4. All stats and abilities MUST be listed in every single post. For iNPC players, a link to your iNPC's ency must also be included.
5. The game operates similar to dodgeball: if you are hit with a snowball or water balloon (i.e., you fail your accuracy vs. evasion roll) you are out of the game, and the goal of the game is to eliminate the opposing team and be the last team standing. A spectator thread will be posted, and players that have been knocked out of the game are welcome to join the spectators for the remainder of the event.
6. Working together as a team and strategizing is encouraged but in no way required. Collaborating with your team is NOT cheating.
7. At any time during your post, you may take a "free action" to duck behind a dune and in character strategize and relay information to your team. Unless you are taking the Throw Projectile action, however, you MUST step out from behind the dune by the conclusion of your post.
8. Any player who misses 2 posts will be considered out of the game. In character, your character suffers "heat/cold sickness" and is sent to the nurse.

Game Mechanics:

Reducio

1. Throw projectile (water balloons/snowballs): basic accuracy vs. evasion. If accuracy roll is higher than opponents evasion roll, and no counter-action was taken, the projectile hits, and the opponent is out of the game.

• Bonus action - Trench Warfare: When a player is performing the Throw Projectile action, they may opt to duck down behind a sand dune or snow dune, depending on their team, and take their action from there. Throwing a projectile from behind a dune results in a -3 to accuracy, but a plus +4 to evasion.

Reducio

On an accuracy critical failure, t!choose will be used to select one of the following outcomes: a) you manage to hit yourself, and are out of the game; b) you manage to hit one of the referees, and are out of the game (and we're probably mad at you ic); c) you accidently target a random teammate, and an accuracy vs. evasion roll against them will be performed. If another crit fail is rolled for accuracy in this check, it will be disregarded, and no new target will be assigned.

On an evasion critical failure, a random team member will be knocked into, and a contested strength roll will be performed. If the team member fails the strength roll, they will be knocked prone, and suffer a -5 to evasion in the following round. They may get up as a free action.

2. Catch: If a player believes that they will be targeted, they can opt to try and catch the projectile thrown at them, giving them a +5 to evasion. The roll will still be accuracy vs evasion. If the catching party's evasion is higher than the throwing party's accuracy, then the projectile is caught. The catching party will them throw the caught projectile at a target, rolling with disadvantage. If a priority target is not specified in the player's submitted action, a random enemy target will be selected.
3. Fastball: Player makes a DC 15 strength roll. If successful, they gain a +5 to accuracy. If unsuccessful, the player suffers a -2 to accuracy. After the outcome of the strength check, the "throwing projectile" accuracy vs. evasion roll will be performed with the appropriate modifiers. Players performing the fastball action will always suffer a -2 to evasion, unless they roll a critical success.
4. Cast spell (FOUL): Standard duelling rules apply to all spells, and only spells from the duelling playbook may be used. If you are caught casting a spell, this is considered a foul, and you are automatically ejected from the game. In addition to the standard duelling rules required by each individual spell, a DC 15 wisdom roll must be passed in order to avoid being caught. Foulplay may be used. Any spell that lasts for more than one round (such as Metelojinx) will require an additional wisdom roll each round. The wisdom DC will increase +2 each round. **Only non-damaging spells are permitted in Battle of the Seasons. If you submit a damaging spell as your action, we will ask you to change it. Otherwise, your action is null and void.**
5. Bodyblock: A player may choose to step in and sacrifice themself for another player that they suspect will be targeted. The player will make a DC 12 strength roll to see if they can successfully push the player they are defending out of the line of fire. If successful, they automatically become the target of the attack, and will roll evasion at -2 AND disadvantage.

♥♥♥ Was Lemmy aiming for her?! She had accidentally bumped into someone that she did not really know and noticed a water balloon went flying past that person. She mumbled out an apology in all of the chaos, "Ah, sorry!" Xiomara had intended on hitting her opponents with snowballs - not by bumping into them! But then she managed to bump into someone else! What was happening? Apologising out of politeness again, she tried to duck past everyone and make her way safely to a different area. Maybe she could hide somewhere? There were water balloons and snowballs everywhere. If it was not for the attire, she would have no idea who was on whose side. The drastically different clothes very much helped in this instance.

But it was utter chaos! Who was out? Who was still in?! Did she hit anyone else? She was pretty sure she had missed but she could not even tell anymore who was still in and who was out. Checking herself, she was still dry so despite all of the bumping, she had somehow managed to dodge her attackers.

Xiomara grabbed another snowball and looked around. Spotting Lemmy, she suddenly grinned a wide toothy grin towards him as a plan formulated in her head. Or rather, an idea. She had put literally zero planning effort into it but the lightbulb lit up and she was ready to fight! Sitting her tongue out at the part-goblin, who she was pretty sure had aimed for her, in an 'haha you missed me' kind of way. He might not have but she was assuming it was for her since they knew each other. "Ha! You gotta do better than that, short stuff!" She grinned, teasing him. Despite her antagonising words, her expression was friendly and her tone was jokey to indicate she was just playing her part as the opponent. Holding her snowball, she drew her arm back as she observed his movements and aimed right at him! He was a good foot shorter than most people, which made it so much harder to hit but she did her best!

Had they even seen her at all? Here Greta had thought she was doing the dangerous thing about moving out into the open, hoping to draw fire. Ready and waiting, she had been all prepared to try to catch whatever snowball they might try to throw at her and lob it right back. But apparently not. Not a single person threw in her direction. Letting out a cry of exasperation, feeling like she'd been entirely useless especially as explosions of snow seemed to ricochet against team mate after team mate, she raced into a new position. Years in quidditch had taught her awareness of the field, and she scoped out a couple targets whose snowballs seemed to be most impactful.

As nimble as she was, the sand didn't make for the most solid of footing and she decided that a stealthy approach would probably serve her best. If she could just sneak up on one of those students while their attention was occupied elsewhere, she figured she'd have a pretty good chance of surprising them with an unexpected shower of water. Keeping lower to the ground, she skittered behind a sand dune, jogging along around it to the next. The front lines were the danger zone, but she'd have to do what she had to do. She couldn't let her team down now!

Aurélie grinned as her friend EmmaLee came up to her and hugged her. They'd met the other day to broom sled together, and it was amazing that they were on the same team. I wouldn't want to hit at her if she was on the opposing team. Then she brought over her other friends, introducing Aurélie to them herself. The French girl blinked, trying her best to memorise both of their names and faces, so that, as EmmaLee had suggested, they could be a team within a team. "Okay-"

Aurélie's speech was cut off by the beginning of the game, and the soon-to-be second year's mind turned away from socialising and back to why she was here. Keeping track of her little team, she ran over to a sand mound to hide from her opponents. Then, when she felt like the amount of flying snowballs had reduced, Aurélie got out from behind, aimed at a random student, and threw with all the force that she had in her.

Then, she ducked back behind the mound, too afraid to even check if the balloon had even hit her. From there, she looked around, spotting EmmaLee. She's not out yet, that's good. Aurélie looked around, checking for the others. And as far as she could tell, they were still in the game too.

- Battle Of The Seasons -

When Ariam @Aston Beckett joined her on the winter side, she just gave them an annoyed nod. She way more pissed about this whole team thing than she probably should be. The only thing to do about it was to give the other team (which she totally should be on, because summer was the best and winter sucked) hell. Scooping up a ball of disgusting wet snow that she did not want to be holding right now, she took aim at some kid on the other side @Pyxis Hellebore. He was already dodging a ton of snowballs that had been aimed at him, and he easily dodged hers too. Dammit.

She glanced over at Ariam beside her, only to see that they had missed as well. While it was only right that the winter team should be loosing, it was her team now and she refused to let that happen. The poor suckers on the other side needed to get pelted with snow. A few people she didn't recognise had already been hit with water balloons, which was honestly another reason team summer was far better here. If you got hit by a snowball on a beach, you could warm up decently quickly. If you got hit by a water balloon in the snow however, you were doomed to cold soggy misery.

- Battle of the seasons -

As the game began, snowballs and wet squishy things went flying everywhere. No dodging of their own was necessary however, as they wouldn't be finding out firsthand what the wet squishy things were today. They were cleverly able to deduce that the wet squishy things were wet by the burst of water that they made when they hit the ground. Either they summoned water somehow or carried it around inside them, but either way Cass was not getting hit today. Team winter was going to squash those beach kids! Picking up a snowball, they lobbed it over at the curly haired cheater who's name was apparently Oonagh @@Oonagh Brown.

Very impressive of the commentator to recognise every kid on the field, especially from so many different schools. Precisely the type of thing their father kept trying to get them to do at parties. Which of course they refused to do. The girl managed to dodge both Cass's snowball and another one thrown by another member of their team, which was a bit of a let down. Surely next time they would hit their target though. Victory was on the way for team winter! Once they got a bit better at aiming. But still! Victory!

Chaos ensued as projectiles soared through the air. Destruction rained down on both teams as water and ice claimed their victims. War had descended upon the London Quidditch Pitch as students of magic from around the world gathered for the slaughter! Well…not really, but Lemmy was a competitive little Goblin and the challenge had him bellowing war cries when he threw his water balloon. His target was a friend, but all is fair in love and war or whatever!

However, his excitement must have gotten the best of him as his arm failed him. Lemmy heaved with all his tiny might, but even though he was aiming for Xiomara, his water balloon almost hit one of his own teammates! “Oh my word! I’m so sorry. I swear I was aiming at the other team. I really think I just got a bit too excited.” He started to ramble on but magically his teammate had dodged and the projectile just nearly hit his intended target.

Lemmy’s dark little eyes locked with Xiomara’s as she stuck her tongue out at him. The rest of the pitch faded away as this had just turned personal! Lemmy spun around and stuck his bottom out and after a little wiggle he would spin back and offer his tongue in a taunt as well. “You’re toast, Torres!” He yelled across the field before rearming himself!

The Mahoutokoro girl threw her snowball at a random young person. Was she sorry? Kinda. Did she hit him? Yes. Apparently the poor guy's name was Atticus Drake. Kanae kept note of that name. It was honestly chaos once the game started, snowballs and water balloons filled the air before landing on their targets (or the ground). She squeaked as snowballs intended for other people landed on the ground around her.

After the rain of projectiles, she noticed there were more people on team winter than the other team. "Let's win this everyone!" she said to her team with a big smile as she thought about her next move. Some of the weakest people were out of the game already, leaving about 17 people in team winter and 15 in team summer as she counted.

She was impressed how the commentators and hosts noticed everything that was happening. Who dodged, who threw, and those who got hit. It was like they had eyes on everyone all at the same time. Kanae noticed no one really targeted her but will that stay the same? Will she try to throw another snowball or dodge incoming ones? The brunette didn't really know. Though she had to make the decision quickly for the game won't wait for her.
