Quidditch Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw - Spring 2023

Atlas was pretty sure she had a DADA assignment that she had just completely forgotten to do. She doubted it would matter but she did make a bit of a mental note about it. Without a real list, however, she knew she would just forget again. Her mind then drifted to a small butterfly flapping its wings nearby. She wondered if the butterfly knew how dangerous the Quidditch Pitch was. But maybe the insect was just a fan...

As there was no effort to score on her, Atlas kept her eyes peeled for a chance to save one of her teammates. Luckily she was not needed but that also meant her restless mind had nothing to do beyond softly floating by her goal posts. The posts themselves looked in need of a good cleaning. But that wasn't a task for her. No instead Atlas just floated in place hoping her team would continue their luck of staying on their brooms.

This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separate from the attack roll.

There'd barely been enough time to settle down on the bench before pandemonium erupted on the pitch. Avery did her best to follow along with the practiced chaos. The nervous bouncing of her leg went unnoticed as she watched badgers and birds both start dropping from the sky, wincing slightly at the sight of a broom shattering.

She only barely resisted the urge to jump to her feet as Alma was dropped by an unfortunate bludger, doing what she could to check on her best friend from such a distance. Her attention only returns to the game after a few moments, knuckles nearly white as nervous anticipation prompts her to tighten the grip on her broom.

The game began as Roxette watched anxiously. She was switching from wanting to get off the bench and not wanting nothing to happen to anybody. Her brain was overthinking everything and was grateful to the teammate who spoke up. "Yes, it is. I've been on the wait-list for so long. I'm glad I could finally join even benched," she smiled to the other girl. "I'm Roxette,"/color] she introduced herself. But, the conversation suddenly stopped as the sound of bludger colliding into a person, not once but twice. She watched startled at seeing a bright blue person and canary yellow person dropped. She shook herself out and stood up. "I guess we have to continue later," she told the other girl prior to mounting her broom and flew up. She remembered what she was supposed to do and stayed close to Atlas.

"Woah..." A smile crept its way across Howard's lips as his eyes darted around the pitch. Quidditch had such a chaotic nature to it and it stoked the part of him that reveled in such state of play. Not only had he knocked his target down with a well executed Blatch, but the Bludger bats cried out their barks of terror as wood met iron. Both teams would suffer blows as Howard flew off to take his penalty lap. One round down, would they survive the next?

Once again Alma found herself at the hands of a bludger. She was taken back to her first game, and honestly this time she just hoped the Hospital wing visits afterward would be a little less awkward. While she was falling, she caught a small glimpse of Avery on the bench, looking worried sick for her team. Alma tried to give a small wave to know she would be fine - although from midair it might’ve just looked like she was flailing. She braced herself for the impact….here it comes.

How did that song go? "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket..." Well, there were definitely several falling stars and there wasn't a way Winnie could save them all. She had to focus on the person closest to her, which just happened to be Damion. Diving downwards she did her best to try and ensure the older boy would land on her broom. Thank Merlin she seemed to have good aim today.

Edme tried her best to keep track of the game as brooms passed by like little flies. She could feel the energy radiating off of the pitch as it finally set into motion, with cheers from the crowd only feeding it. When she first joined the team, the idea of actual playing in the field had been absurd. But now, there was something like a yearning for it.

She gave a few cheers and claps, but it was pretty obvious that they wouldn’t be able to hear her over the crowd. Absentmindedly, she felt her hands and feet twitching with excitement. She was practically shaking from nerves and excitement.

Annie's head tilted to the side, listening to the starting whistle tweet as the game had begun. The narrator was always very helpful but she still felt without her sense of vision she missed out on some crucial details. It seemed the first action they found themselves doing was heavy offensive versus Ravenclaw's heavy offense. They were evenly match, a player from each team falling, unfortunately. Cecily from Ravenclaw, and she was a tough cookie from the sound of the gasps of shock emitting from one side of the stadium. Their player on the other hand was Alma. Yikes. Every time she heard the thud either of broom collision, a bludger hit or worst of all, a body hitting the ground. If you were to play on the Quidditch Team, the Hospital Wing would become your best friend. Two people now shared brooms, a pair on each team although Rita's broom had gotten shattered. Another yikes. Exhaling, she'd hear Roxette, the girl who was new to the team reply to her. Quickly she'd nod her head an whisper a small "good luck, stay safe!" to the younger badger. The snitch was within either Seeker's grasp making the teams even in terms of players. Now it was left all up to strategy and fate. Annie's grip hardened on her Quidditch robes, determination fueling her as she sat on the bench.

Quinn was rusty that hit didnt feel as strong as he would like it too. Still that was the competitiveness in him. One needed to appreciate the little victories and wins. The team was solid and even if they didn't win once again they would show their grit and resolve. Quinn put everything on the line to make sure he gave his team the best possible chance. He may have no longer been captain but he was still a part of the team and he trusted the new captains.

Broom Skill 2: Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.
