When he had asked his question toward the young individual he stood before for the first round of this little play-time, he didn't expect such a long-winded answer as a response. Hell, before she got out more than 5 words he was already walking away from the little one, clearly expecting a braver answer, not something wrapped in codswallop. The golden hues shifted around for a moment as he walked away and he found himself standing alone, watching the crowd.

After a few moments, there was a tap on his shoulder and his name was spoken by someone he didn't even know. Hell, he didn't really know anyone here if he was being honest, and felt extremely at ease for this exact reason. Also, for this reason, his dominant hand had gripped the hilt of his ivory-colored aspen wand before he turned slowly to face his accuser, "I might be," he nodded, those golden eyes driving down into the girl's own for the time being.

The girl went on to explain her little proposition to him, he smirked as she talked, talking a little too much for him if he was honest, but he played along for the moment. A quirk of the eyebrow was given before he smiled down upon the one who gave him the quest, "sure little one, sure," he offered in response before he simply just turned and walked away from the girl. There was nothing about this girl he found even close to attractive so he went to find the only person on the ship that he did find holding a sense of beauty towards their being.

Erin Ryan, he'd never interacted with her before, but she was clearly the most elegant on the ship and he'd at least noticed her before in his years at the school, hell, it was hard not to run into everyone upon this ship but he did his best not to during the school years at least. The teenager would walk right up to the older girl and look towards her, "Oy', Ryan," older students had reputations, more gossip, and names were known, "You're gorgeous," he nodded, chin raised up at the moment as he twisted the ivory-colored wand within his hand, "also, I haven't met a single new friend this last year and it's been awfully boring, hell, didn't even get into any fights I think," and that was that.

The most embarrassing thing he'd done this entire last year was to just not be around for anyone to be a friend to, or, just to avoid people and hope that they'd forget that he even existed. With his proclamation towards the older girl, he really didn't wait for a response and turned and walked along the ship once more towards an area where he could quietly relax with his back against a wall.

MODERATION POST—Round III
While Alec Mason was left to wonder at the subconscious motives of his own actions, he would receive his next assignment, to seek out one Finnegan Conner and administer unto him a dare. In fact, it would be rather the curious task of utmost creativity. Preluded with a story of loss and vengeance, of a terrible totally-not-plastic shark of dread and terror still roaming the waters below. In need of vanquishing, Finn would have to tarry forth and defeat it, returning to wear its deflated plastic-y-ness carcass as a trophy. A wooden sword apparently wouldn't quite CUT it, but a coat hanger did the trick so that he could tied the beast around his shoulders.

Fresh from a kiss that had apparently been "not half bad", Edward Smith would turn a 180 after receiving Alec Mason for a second round in a row. This time, the dare administered was to wear his disgusting, filthy, horrid socks as gloves. Really. Who does that. And then asks about the kiss. It was no wonder that Alec would be horrified, taking creative measures to comply with the task while also protecting himself from directly douching the garments. Someone scourgify that child. Throwing the socks into the 'ocean' just isn't enough.

Noah Jupe had also drawn the same name for a second time, groaning at the sight of Aly Salinger. His task would be on the more violent side, challenging her to punch Edward as hard as she could before stomping on his foot. Goading her even further with a 'Do it' repeated relentlessly, the girl would reach a snapping point. Absolutely not, she had said. Good on her. Then came the tongue lashing for the lad. She would leave it at that, denying his dare.

Before taking her leave from the game, however, she would make good on the last of her tasks without even realizing it. Going over to speak with Edward Smith, she would first relay the dare that Noah had attempted to administer. In a strange twist of the situation, she would suggest that he give Noah a hug. Or perhaps the flower she had produced from her hair. Things would escalate quickly, though. Taking the flower, he'd stomp off to Noah, pretending to say something nice and pretending to go in for a hug, but apparently going in for a kiss. A reciprocated kiss. Clearly there were those who had gotten this mixed up with Twirl the Flagon.

Marina Oriel had been given a peculiar question, needing to say--true or false--if she was too weak to be in Gryffindor. She would verbally work her way through it, acknowledging the possibility that perhaps she might have made a better student to one of the other houses, but ultimately deciding the hat had sorted well. In fact, she would demonstrate that notion in a way better than she might have realized. Zykeal's challenge to walk the plank hadn't been a dare, not in the traditional sense. It wasn't from the game. It was extra, and he was not one to hold back from exacting his will if he so desired. Her defiance could very well have resulted in her being forcefully yeeted off the ship. But she would be spared, the boy turning bored before she had even finished talking and leaving her be.

Nevertheless, she would go on to find Noah Jupe once more, giving him a combined truth and dare. The question would involve asking him with whom he would like to change lives and why. The dare was to answer without making use of any of the letters found in the word PIRATE. With only two vowels left to him, it was a task that would no doubt require disjointed sentences and perhaps a great deal of gesturing to complete. Unless he could think outside the box..

Finnegan Conner had done well with his shark-slaying and oration of lunar obscurity, and now it was time for him to pass along the strange. Well... it really wouldn't be all that strange, in truth. June Selwyn would be the victim of his whims, the girl tasked to point out the prettiest person on the ship complete with explanation. Her choice: Aly Salinger (good choice) for the reason of her smile and her hair (she really does have amazing hair).

Prior to this, however, June Selwyn had completed her own tasking. Zykeal Lane would be her target, the black clad lad in complete contrast to the bubbly pwnie. Given that he had failed to indicate either a truth or dare, the canon had cursed him with both. June would demand that he go pu to the most attractive person on the ship and tell him the most embarassing thing about the previous year. He would shamelessly approach Erin Ryan (no faulting him there) and tell her that he hadn't met any friends, nor gotten into any fights (debatable). Of course, there was still time. He could always change the status of both of those notions over the course of the camp.

Nicholas McCowan had ended up a touch put-off by the russian with the anglo-name, but ultimately left the boy to his own devices after the dare had been complete. On to the second round, he had receive the name of Marina Orial, one of the members of his own racing team. Given that she had picked truth, it could be a unique opportunity to get to know her a little bit better. What question could he possibly ask to that outcome? Oh. When was the last time she cried. Yes. Great question. Embarrass and belittle her with the raising of a clearly emotional memory.

Caught off guard by the fact that her target had somehow been selected to receive both a truth and a dare, Cassie McGregor-Martin would soon strike out after the head-spinning display of Finn's nerdiness to find Luciana Thawin. She would ask for the truth about a time the girl had told the truth but later wished that she had lied. As for a dare, she deposited the challenge to avoid speaking in first person for the next five minutes.

Unfortunately, in the confusion of the round, there would remain one that had failed to receive a challenge. Preoccupied by Erin's beauty (no fault there), Zykeal had failed to give Cassie a dare. BANG. Not to let the flow of the game diminish, the canon would step in on his behalf, no doubt providing a subpar one in his stead.

@Erin Ryan did not post in this round and will be considered as having taken her leave from the game.

Cassie McGregor-Martin: "Your dare is to let someone in the group blindfold you and feed you something from the table." (The first who so desires may be permitted to have read the dare over her shoulder and claim ownership of carrying it out on her).

Marina noticed how quickly the person who had given her the truth question from a previous round walk away almost as soon as she had begun speaking. "I can fly quite far by the way!" She yelled after him.

Her next truth question was given to her by someone from her broom racing team. He asked her when the last time she had cried was. "The last time I cried was when Mochi bit my finger," Marina replied. "It was in the morning sometime in May. Mochi was trying to eat the armchair I was sitting in. In an effort to get away, Mochi bit my finger. It was incredibly painful. Now I know, when Mochi wants to get away let her. Marina paused after telling her story, "Oh, I think I forgot to tell you Mochi is my pet rat."

Feeling inspired by her answer to the truth question Marina gave a Mochi related dare. "So, your dare is to fold an origami rat; correctly. You have one chance only one." Marina said. She removed two pieces of paper from her pocket. Marina gave Alec one and folded the other one into a rat, "It is supposed to look like this." Marina showed him the rat she had just folded.

All Alec could do now was try to wipe his mind free of that horrendous sock dare. The young teen was relieved in knowing the fact he could not continue to terrorize those around the kid with his terrible hygiene. He certainly couldn't pull the sock dare on anyone for a second time. It wasn't long after completing his dare when he realized it was soon time to head back to the cannon and grab their next assignments. Alec would put his name in, once again, going for dare as he had every other round before this one. The cannon would go around, each person receiving their slip of paper. Alec would read his slip of parchment quickly. A Cassie McGregor-Martin had selected dare. Alec had great fun with his dares often going to inventive and imaginative places, however he figured this time around he may as well give out a classic.

However before Alec could give out his dare, a dare from a girl who was rather skilled in origami. His dare was to fold an origami rat. She would carefully fold and make one in front of him once to show him how it was done. Alec nodded, he would stare at the piece of paper in his hand for a moment and then began to fold. (tatsu helped me out on this one rolling a 1d10 | 1-7: does it incorrectly | 8-10: succeeds | the result was 10) Alec had never done origami, meaning he had to carefully remember the instructions, folding until finally it was done. With a certain amount of pride in his origami rat he presented his work to the girl. “How does it look?” he asked, taking a few moments to inspect the origami rat for himself.

Dare completed he made his way, seeking out a Cassie McGregor-Martin. With a few helpful tips from people on the ship he would be able to find her and waved out to her in order to grab her attention. “Oi! I'm Alec, and I'm supposed to be giving you your dare.” A classic. Sure to make a good few people uncomfortable, was it not truth or dare though? “I dare you to go up to whoever you find most attractive on this ship and kiss them,” Alec was a vessel for drama, it happened to the best of people, he couldn't help himself.

Interacts with: @Zykeal Lane

OC: I felt awkward (no anger or animosity) continuing since the person I was supposed to dare left the thread. I was addressed by Zyk so will go from there and complete the late dare I was given. I just was not sure what to do or if I should have edited my previous post(s)
"Oy', Ryan," a voice called out and she froze. She did not recognize the voice but she had earned enough rightful ire over the years.

"Hell," she rumbled. She was far from mad, but no less paranoid. Only now she was not jumping at the shadows, she did not fear the cannibalistic nature of the giants or the dark secrets the professors of Hogwarts were probably harboring. True or not, as long as they left her and what was hers, they were irrelevant. A clenched fist and a shifted stance she would view an underclassman she did not recognize.

"You're gorgeous," he claimed, leaving the part Veela dumbfounded. She was pretty, it was a fact but not one that had ever been noted upon. The Barney Stinson crazy-hot scale had firmly placed the 9-10 in the 'danger zone' for reasons all far too apparent.

Image

Her hand still clenched, her eyes darted to the side. The instinctual jab halted by what could only be described as confusion as she mumbled the most poetic and confident reply she could muster. An awkward "thank you?" The inflection of a question at the end of a statement, she was not sure what exacerbated this decision, admission or observation, but it was a game of truth-or-dare so there were numerous reasons to be had. Making friends with the hag was a likely dare. The expectation being that she would eviscerate the unfortunate before he could say boo. A year ago, a distinct possibility in truth, but she was rather restless these months since her liberation.

Her eyes flickered towards the ivory colored wand. Pretty, she was envious.

"Also, I haven't met a single new friend this last year and it's been awfully boring, hell, didn't even get into any fights I think," he admitted. She was not sure why he said any of that, but she had driven off her dare so there was nothing for her to do.

"Well, I barely remember mine, boredom might be preferred," she admitted. She was not able to add a name, he lacked the infamy necessary to have rumor prelude this meeting. "If you were sent to fight me," a possibility as she was infamous for her messy, loud fights. "I really don't have anything against pretty-boys," she admitted. They were actually nice to watch, sort of like cats or birds. "And I really don't want to land you into the infirmary for the sake of a dare," she added. and that was that.

She was pulling objects, most larger than her to one corner of the ship. Someplace visible so that the dare she was requested to accomplish could at the very least be seen (and regretted for the sake of Eve's moderation). The trunks, or rather 'chests' were liberated of their contents and served as a base for what she was building. She had no idea what one would fall this leaning monstrosity of a tower because it would resemble a precariously build JENGA tower made of found articles -- the chests, the costumes uses to tether objects in place such as chairs, planks of wood. Yes, she would try to steal the plank as well as any other found object that was not firmly bolted to the floor. If they used barely more than a finishing nail, it was in truth up for grabs. Erin would ask Zyk to hand her varied items if he remained in reach, allowing him to share in the blame of the disaster which followed if he so chooses.

If Zyk remained nearby, he would witness the part Veela pulling herself up the tower of chairs and chests, of boards and cushions. Of knickknacks and decorative objects. But the point was to build as tall as possible, there would have to be ultimately a turning point. A point wherein the tower bows and there is no remediation, rectification or repair. This would of course transpire when Erin was at the highest point she could reach and she was tying a found object that was too heavy for this place of honor (object of choice up to our moderator Eve, but the cannon would be a terrible visual but anything funny and heavy will do). A groan of wood and a scrape of metal, something would splinter and break. A *crack* could be heard and the contents of the great tower would shift and what was built would start to fall.

A completion of the dare as directed, to the letter. As high as she could, defined by that height and to her best effort as evidenced by the ultimate tumble. A rancorous series of noises, inanimate shrieks would herald the mighty crash and the destined calamity that would follow. On, above, at the other gamers, daring and accomplishing their tasks, telling their promises truth and playing on while she was a round behind accomplishing her first task which might prove to be her last. Indeed, this was perhaps why she was no longer a part of the dare cycle, a yelp from above was all she gave out as she came crashing down with the tower of refuse and toys.
Dares are always fine with her but I am fine out of the rotation, my purpose is to mess up threads not maintain the status quo.

TLDR: she accomplished her previous dare (make a tower with fund objects as high as she can) and now it is falling down, wrecking whatever Eve decides it wrecks if anything.

Just a trick of the lighting they said...

Weirdly, nobody approached Cassie to give her a dare. "Anyone got a Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin?" she tried. Nothing happened. "I'm Cassie! I picked dare! Anybody?" Nope. Apparently not. Instead, the cannon took pity on her and spat out a scrap of paper which caught the Beauxbatons student in the chest before falling to the deck. "Alright, fine," she muttered to the world at large as she grabbed the paper and read it quickly. "Huh." That was a good dare. The only downside was that Cassie needed to rope somebody in to help her... but who?

Maybe closing her eyes and spinning around wasn't the most fullproof way to randomly pick a person, but it was the method which Cassie employed, with one arm out to point at her eventual accomplice. Rolled an 8-sided die on Google to pick a random player. It picked @Alec Mason. Her hand landed on a brunette boy who looked to be around her own age. "HEY! YOU!" she called, stumbling a little as she forced herself to stay still after her spinning. "COME..." she began, but the boy seemed to be able to read minds and was already walking towards her. In fact, he was calling to her. He was supposed to be daring her? Well, that was good luck. "Hi Alec. You've also gotta help me with my last dare, but give me my new one first."

Cassie was unsure how to react to the dare which she was given. There were multiple things wrong with it after all. The most obvious was the biggest obstacle between Cassie and completing the dare. "But I'm not attracted to anyone on the ship." Sure, there were pretty people, especially the older blond girl whom Cassie was sure she'd met once (what was her name? Erica?) but pretty didn't mean kissable. Maybe other people could look at someone and decide they wanted to kiss them, but Cassie just didn't get that. Never mind people on the ship - Cassie currently wasn't attracted to anybody, full stop. And even if she was, Cassie still wouldn't want to carry out the dare. A kiss was supposed to be something special, something shared between two people who really liked each other. Cassie had never exactly thought about it, but she didn't see the point in kissing someone she wasn't in a relationship with. That made it all seem cheap. And anyway - this was truth or dare, not spin the bottle, and kissing was supposed to be reserved for that. (Not that Cassie kissed people in spin the bottle either; she generally settled for a hug.) "That's such a stupid dare." Unimaginative, too. Why did everyone jump to relationships in a game of truth or dare? Couldn't they think of anything more exciting? "You can give me another one if you want. But first, I need you to help me with this." Cassie showed Alec the dare she'd received from the cannon. "Blindfold me - you can use one of the scarves in that chest - and feed me something from the table." Just so the boy didn't get confused, Cassie pointed over to the table with food on it.

When the cannon spat out another slip of paper for Cassie, she thought it had broken. She'd been given the exact same person she had last round... but this time, she'd only been asked to give @Lucinia Thawin a dare, not a truth as well. Cassie went over to her, not needing help finding the other girl this time since she already knew who she was looking for. "Lucinia! I got you again." There was a pause while Cassie tried to think of a good dare. "I dare you to... to not let your left foot touch the floor for the next minute."

JUNE SELWYN
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Date: August 14, 2022 | @Marina Oriel | Dialogue: X
────────────────────────────────
June found her spirits floating higher and higher as time went on. This game was quite fun! She didn't need Maggie or Monica to have a good time, she was perfectly capable of "loosening up" all by herself. This was good, a sign of improvement. Of growth.

Her next target was a name she didn't recognize (this seemed to be a pattern), but after a bit of asking around, she was able to locate one Miss Marina Oriel. She approached the girl with a sheepish smile, still unsure of how to make these introductory interactions less inelegant. Indeed.

"Oriel, is it?" June unfolded her paper, showing the girl's name written on it. "Are you ready for your dare? Right, here goes." June cleared her throat. Now that she had to administer a few dares, the brainstorming process was becoming easier and easier. "I dare you to wear all of your clothes backwards, and you can't change them back until you get a new dare." She pointed to the set of stairs that led below-deck. "I heard mention that there are some changing rooms down over there, if you accept. Oh! And come find me when you're finished, I'm quite interested as to what that would actually look like!"

June will select "truth" for her next round

MODERATION POST—Round IV
The fourth group had quieted down considerably. Perhaps it was not so unusual. The moon was rising high into the sky and the heavens had shifted gradually through the spectrum from navy to indigo to midnight black. Stars could scarcely be seen behind the wisps of clouds that moved in to periodically blot them out, and the deck began to quiet. Only a few of the students continued to show any significant enthusiasm for the game, the rest seeming to be winding gradually down.

Marina Oriel seemed put off by how swiftly one inquisitive individual had moved on after delivering their truth question, but didn't let that bring her down. Another had approached, asking of the last time she had cried. Evidently, her rat—Mochi—had something of a taste for human flesh, having bit her finger to get away. Let us hope he is not missing any toes. She would soon track down Alec Mason, giving him a pretty challenging dare. It was really more of a test or trial, though, really. He had one chance to fold an origami rat after a quick demonstration on how. Good thing there was no consequence for failing a dare. But it seemed that with the stench of socks fully out of his face, his mind was clear with fresh appreciative perspective. Like a paper prodigy, he managed to reproduce the rat almos tto perfection.

Then it was Alec Mason's own turn to track down his new assignment. Cassie McGregor-Martin. For her, he would "dare to go up to whoever you find most attractive on this ship and kiss them,” A reasonable dare. One that anymore might expect to be a possibility. In fact, it is always a surprise there aren't more dares such as this than what usually end up being voiced. Buuuut. Apparently it was a hard nope from her. Despite acknowledging aesthetic attraction (a viable measurement of attraction) and that a kiss could be on the hand.. or the cheek.. or with eyelashes... or even the air. Creativity of interpretation, children!

That aside, Cassie McGregor-Martin would swiftly shift to her own needs, soliciting his help to tie a blindfold around her eyes and feed her something from the table. Although the question might remain as to whether he actually would. A dare for a dare seemed fare. She had chosen to forsake hers. Would he do the same? Or perhaps he would take the opportunity to raise the stakes?

June Selwyn would find her own spirits rising with the moon, having quite a good time with the game. Who needed friends anyway. June was perfectly capable of not being reliant on others for her own fun. Tracking down her next target, she would find Marina Oriel and dare her to change her clothing until it was all being worn backwards, commanded to return post haste once complete for a final captainly inspection.

Moving on from the unfortunate hiccup of being left high and dry after the delivery of a quite excellent little dare, Erin Ryan would fall victim to two small little words that would apparently leave her dumbfounded. She, who earned the eye of so many, whose beauty was frequently lauded and acknowledged, had somehow never actually been made aware of the plethora of thoughts that frequented her peers. After five years at Hogwarts, and not a single student had expressed that to her face. Bravo, Zykeal Lane. It was about damn time. And intentional or otherwise, some measure of a similar sentiment would be reflected back at the self-proclaimed troublemaker. Ryan and Lane. Two known for their explosive personalities, sharing civil conversation. It might have been enough to turn heads if the rest of the ship had realized just how unusual that encounter really was.

Nevertheless, she would soon move onto the task she had been proscribed: to build a tower with anything and everything she could possibly get her hands on to a height as high as she could manage. And what a tower it soon became. Crate, chest, and props... nothing escaped her notice or her grasp. And nothing escaped gravity. It would reach an impressive height (enough to warrant her having to climb it to further add to its scale) before it finally succumbed. If only she hadn't tried to tie the ship's wheel to the tip like some sort of naval Christmas star, she might have been able to walk away to admire her Frankenstein creation. But balance was precarious and it had reached a tipping point, leaning—slowly at first—until it past the point of no return.

CrASH!

Items would explode across the deck. Erin and Zykeal would find themselves in closest proximity and most likely to receive the brunt force of the toppling. But realistically, nobody was safe from the potential collision of some random object or other as it skittered across the ship's deck.
Feel free to find yourself making close acquaintance with pieces of the catastrophe, or not, at your discretion.

There was a surprising amount of respect that came in the way the other had the guts to openly reject Alec's dare. A true Gryffindor, except not a Gryffindor at all because they were a foreign student. The young teen grinned at the offer the help the girl out with her last dare. Alec nodded with a hum, “yeah, sure!” Thinking about what he needed to do now; blindfold... Wait... Alec squinted his eyes at the girl. A dare where he blindfolded the girl with an item of clothing from the costume chest and fed her something from off of the table. Her last dare sounded like more of an enigma to him than his own.

Where were the stakes involved in dares? Kids cared about their social standing and a sad but true part of that social standing tended to include who you liked(Alec didn't make the rules, he observed, he too thought it way strange). Alec called for dares with action, adventure, anything lively, fun, and exciting. Alec tilted his head as he looked at her and chuckled, “I think I'm going to like you. Though, are you sure your last dare wasn't the weirdest one? What if I poisoned the food?” Alec asked joking, realizing too late as the words that his mouth that he probably should have avoided using said words. Poisoning people was no joking matter. Who jokes about poisoning food? Alright, not the most intellectual move.

There was a reason this Gryffindor was not renowned for his smarts. “Not that I would uh- Not that I would poison your or something!” Alec began to assure, he laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. His face would flush slightly out of embarrassment. Alec turned his head away from the girl looking towards the costume chest. “Be right back,” he spoke, quick and fast, partially and excuse to get out of the awkward situation he had created. Running to the costume chest as fast as his legs could take him. When he reached the costume chest he rummaged around until he could find something fitting for a blindfold, in this case a bandanna.

Stripey red and gold with skulls on it, strange but it was somehow perfect. He ran back towards the girl, taking the time to present her proudly with the bandanna. Giving it to her Alec would offer help if she needed help and quickly walked over to the table in order to grab some food from it. What to choose, what to choose. Alec's eyes skimmed over the table, the easiest option, he grabbed it. An apple. He felt weird about feeding her food, she had capable hands but whatever. He walked back let her take a bite, do whatever she needed to complete here dare and then hand her the apple.

Once she had her blindfold off again Alec's thoughts drifted. A new dare hmm... Alec had the perfect thing. Not as crazy as his dares for others had been, but he knew it would be fun nonetheless. Alec glanced towards the plank that lead off the ship. “Jump from the plank and proudly proclaim yourself pirate royalty.” A flawless dare. With his dare given out and finished Alec headed to the cannon to put his request in and receive his next dare assignment. Opening the slip of paper, he would realize he got the same assignment once again. Tracking her down quickly to get this over with, Alec shouted, “hey, wait up!”

He wanted to catch her before she could complete the first dare he'd given out. He showed the girl the new slip of paper. “I got you again. I'll just add more to my original dare to make it double.” He explained shrugging. It happened sometimes. It meant he' just get to add more to her dare, what fun! “Once your jump into the water you must defeat one of the shark floaties before you return back to the ship.” He was not going to explain what he meant by it, or it he had a meaning at all by defeating the shark floaties. He was leaving her to pick our her own fate and meaning for herself.
