Forcefully, Gray pulled back with everything he had on the lever. At first, it felt like it was going nowhere but after a few more tugs he finally felt it move. Nothing happened for a few tense moments until a bubbling noise erupted around them, a sudden suction beginning to drag the pair through the water without mercy. Percy desperately tried to get his head above the water but it was no use, the current firmly had him and Winnie in its grasp.

The boy thrashed and inhaled a mouthful of muddy water as they were pulled along into a new chamber, covered head to toe in layers of mud. Thankfully, when it came to the landing Gray didn't find himself to be the cushion, this time Winnie had to take the fall. Flying out with speed Gray couldn't stop himself from crashing on top of Winnie chest to chest. After a few moments the prefect began to let out a flurry of coughs, ones that were doing their best in getting the disgusting muddy stench out of his throat. Not just that, but his entire body was shaking from being cold to the bone.

At first, he didn't even realise that Winnie was below him yet after finally looking down he finally figured out why the fall didn't hurt so much. Looking into her eyes coldly he was almost tempted to provide the same treatment she gave him, but instead, he offered her his assistance. Calmly, he got to a kneeling position and offered her a mud soaked hand "I guess we're even now..." he said with a rare genuine smile, one that actually looked warm compared to his usually grumpy and stone faced expression. Hoping she'd accept the offer, he would pull her up (Or get up himself) and take in his surroundings.

Picking up and emptying the bucket that had fallen next to them, he looked over to the crossroads ahead of them. There was a left and right option, either one having a sense of mystery as to which was the better path "I guess it's time to go right" he said after giving Winnie a brief look to see if she was alright. he slowly splodged ahead to the crossroads with Winnie in tow and began to turn right, hoping their new path would provide better tidings

Winnie might have been good at swimming, but the suction the lever released had quickly pulled her head beneath the water and swirled her body around as the entire muddy pool was drained. Air came as a treasured gift as her body was tossed ashore. She hardly minded that she was covered from head to toe in a layer of mud, simply gasping lungfuls of precious oxygen.

That was, until, all 5'6" of Percival came crashing down onto her body. Thankfully, while he might have had 10 inches of height on her, he happened to be pretty lanky. "Augh!" It still had hurt, and knocked the wind out of her again. She gasped desperately for air and wriggled beneath him, her arms automatically trying to shove the boy off of her. After a moment she was able to mostly regain her breath, but not before realizing that her maze partner might have swallowed a bit too much water. "H-Hey, are you oka--..." She wouldn't get to finish that sentence before the Slytherin had coughed up a mouthful of muddy water. Directly onto her face. "EW! GROSS!" Her stomach lurched, and she gagged but managed to keep her lunch down.

When Percival met her eyes he would be met with an unimpressed glare. A hand reached up to wipe furiously at her face. "I guess so." She huffed as she accepted his assistance, or attempted to. Her body was wobbly, weakened from being pulled under and then having a boy slammed into her. She stumbled, grabbing ahold of the boy before straightening herself. At the sight of his smile she blinked in surprise. "... You... Don't look so pleased. Pft..." But now her face was breaking out into a smile as she looked the two of them over, what a sight they were. She had to hold back a laugh as she nodded. "Right it is." Still a little wobbly, she would follow the prefect in the said direction.
Action: Getting second hand water from Percival and going right.

Percival had given Winnie a genuine smile, a sign of the continued progression of their mutual infatuation. Or a polite gesture offered after a rather awkward situation. But Winnie was busy savoring the dirty water that the boy had coughed up on her face. It was a gift granted to the girl but she needed to at least maintain the facade of disgust. But that disgust was quickly betrayed by a smile. There they were, Percival and Winnie smiling at the absurdity of the moment and their time together. It seemed that even in the darkness they would find light in each other’s company.

Despite their enjoyment of each other’s company, the pair was getting closer to their escape. With each step they would be inching closer to their lives outside the maze. Again the pair would find themselves in a tight winding corridor. Every turn would be slightly discouraging as it revealed that there was more maze ahead of them. Turn after turn showed nothing but dark green or thick fog until...Until it didn’t.

Down a long straight path, Percival then Winnie would see an exit. A beautiful open archway that led out of the maze. Freedom was in reach. The pair would continue down the path towards the exit.

Perhaps distracted by their respective partner, neither of them would have the speed to react.. About half way down the corridor, a massive chest would suddenly be pushed out of the hedge wall beside Nate. It was a dark wooden chest that looked a bit out of place in the dark green hedges. It might have been better suited for a pirate ship but here it was. As Percival would instinctively step out of its path, the lid of the chest flew open and ropes erupted from within.

The rope was blisteringly fast, the kraken had been unleashed! In an instant it had wrapped its hungry tendrils completely around Percival and Winnie. Without even giving them the chance to struggle, the tendrils pulled both of them violently inside the chest. Darkness...An unyielding abyssal darkness was all either of them could see from within the chest as the lid slammed shut. They had been completely devoured by the chest and could hear some kind of rustling outside but there would be no way for them to see what might be happening.

With two people within the chest’s innards, it was a very tight squeeze. Pressed side by side, Winnie would not be able to see Percival but she would be able to feel his breath on her cheek as they were pressed together. Their arms were bound against their body, making it very difficult to move in the cramped innards of the chest. The tight quarters would make it difficult to escape if they did not work together.

Dipping into the left tunnel, the girl decided that they would show their bravery and continue forward. The ground would be soft underneath them as they were forced to crawl. As they crawled there was another low giggle from the direction they were going. A bit louder this time, as if it was getting closer.

Soon they would emerge from the tunnel and be able to stand in a room-sized chamber. The moment The girl emerged from the tunnel, a ring of candles surrounding a wooden rocking chair suddenly lit. The light from the tiny fires illuminated a porcelain doll sitting in the chair with two outstretched hands. In one hand sat a cupcake, in the other sat an old-looking key.

There were no paths leading out of the chamber, except the one they had come through. They could choose to investigate the chamber or head back the way they came. But as the girl stood, there was a low giggle from the porcelain doll before the chamber returned to its ominous silence.

- Did you hear that?
Yes, I heard. We're getting closer to the strange laughter that my sister finds creepy. Personally I think it could be a sign of something. A challenge, a help, a way out... I think Lin would prefer the exit.I think a challenge would be nice because there is absolutely nothing happening here.
- I have heard. So, is this tunnel about to end?
No sooner had I said these words than I saw Lin stand up and I heard him exclaim in surprise. When I stand up again, I also give an exclamation of surprise. But Lin looked terrified and I thought it was great. Don't think I want a Satanist doll. No, I just find it exciting. As I walk over to the doll to get the cupcake (I'm hungry) Lin interrupts me.
- Don't touch that doll, Rikki. It's probably a trap.
- Lin. I don't see any other "doors" than the tunnel we just took. And in this room, there is nothing but this doll. So if you want to go back, you can go see a boot dance. Or you can give up. I'm going on. And I'm hungry. So I'm taking this cupcake.

Continuing his path to the right, he slowly trudged along down the muddy corridor drenched to the bone in cold mud. Even though the temptation of cleaning himself up was strong, they needed to keep going and take no more chances, especially when the route in front was covered in a dense fog. As they wasted no time in their travels, Gray made sure to have a peek behind every now and then to keep an eye on the dazed Winnie. A boy his size falling on a smaller girl like herself was never good news, so it was probably wise to see if the unbalanced Harper was alright "Come on Winnie, I'll be out your hair soon enough"

Sure enough, Gray almost seemed to be right. Ahead of the pair was a bright light, a godsend that indicated the end of the merciless maze "Well, speak of merlin..." he said with a small smirk in the corner of his lips as he looks to Winnie and motions to follow him. As he grew closer his quest for freedom was getting more and more achievable. Although, when they reached halfway something big broke through the hedge like a raging bull. Grays's eyes opened wide while he managed to dodge the initial appearance, but before he could reach his wand the strong vines wrapped his body and dragged him at a frightening speed "Arghhh!" the prefect yelled as both students got locked in the chest together.

Everything around them was pitch black and to add insult to injury their bodies were awkwardly scrunched inside a small space. All he knew was that his face was close to Winnies from the fact he could feel her hair brushing against his mouth. Things were awkward before, now it had taken things to a whole new level "Just one thing after the bloody other!" he grunted loudly, his hand unfruitfully trying to reach for the wand that was unreachable in his pocket "I can't reach my wand, can you get yours, Winnie?" he questioned as he stopped struggling for now.

For a few moments, he pondered and thought about how they could get out. Both of them were stuck in a tight space and unable to do anything alone, but what if they worked together? "Winnie, I know it's hard but you'll need to trust me. What I need you to do is extend your legs out and push into the chest. At the same time, rock backward and forwards and see if we can topple this chest over together." he said while trying his best to position his feet against the wall of the chest "Unless you have any bright ideas, we may as well give it a shot"
Action: Tries his best to topple the chest by rocking backward and forwards. Although, he would take Winnie's plan if suggested.

Winnie couldn't remember why she had even wanted to sign up for the maze anymore. Was there a prize at the end? It seemed to her that the maze was being used as a device for someone to torture the children instead of actually provide them with a fun experience.

Likely bruised from having all of Percival slamming into her just moments before, she trudged along. "You're not annoying me anymore, Gray." In truth she was thankful she was not subjected to the maze alone. The prefect's gestures ushering her to follow him were also appreciated, as she was starting to slow down a bit. "... But is it over yet?" She asked the boy, a small smile playing on her lips upon the sight of the exit. What a glorious sight the light pouring out the exit provided, as if heaven itself had open its gates.

Her celebration would not last long, however, as a large chest, or creature of some sort, jumped out in front of them. Winnie was still too dazed to react in time, the dark tendrils of the creature wrapping around her form and lurching her into the inky darkness that was its mouth. "HOLY SHIT!" Was the only reaction the Ravenclaw could manage before the Slytherin was snatched up and slammed inside of the chest along side her. "No no no no!" She gasped when the mouth closed and they were abandoned. She did not know it could be this dark.

She felt the sudden movement next to her, the prefect struggling to free his arms from the binds of the close quarters. "W-watch it!" She gasped as she was pressed up against the the exterior. It was still not escape from the feeling of his hot breath against her chest. Great, just when the two were starting to get along and she assumed they could have an acquaintanceship of sorts. A distant one. How the hell was it supposed to be distant if she were trapped inside a damn box with him?!

"I don't know." She tried to squirm her body, bumping into the poor boy and brushing up against him as she tried to grab her wand. It was no use; the quarters were far too tight and she was only succeeding in making things more awkward. "I can't, I... I'm sorry." Her voice wavered as she spoke. She was tired and sore, she wanted to go home. Her eyes started to well with tears as she started to do what she always did when overwhelmed; cry in defeat. She was thankful that Percival couldn't see her tears.

Several minutes would pass before the Slytherin spoke again, telling her of his plan. She was asked to trust him and what choice did she have? She was out of ideas, and quite admittedly he had saved them with the plug so perhaps giving him her trust for the time being would not be such a terrible thing. She nodded slowly. "You haven't let me die yet, so... Yes, I'll trust you." She said after realizing he could not see her nodding her head. Having grown up on a farm, Winnie was actually quite strong. It was a bit uncomfortable getting into position, but she pushed her legs against the chest and started to use the last of her strength to kick and rock the damn thing as much as she could.
Action: Rocking the chest with Percival and trying to use the last of her strength to kick the chest/mimic open.

Oh the couple...Locked away in their cute little prison. Winnie and Percival were undoubtedly enjoying their exceptionally close quarters. The had been devoured by a somewhat sentient chest, often called a mimic. Undoubtedly one of the many horrific creations that the strange Groundskeeper had let loose in the maze. Or it was an agent of true love, bringing together those who truly belonged.

But despite the cute and cosy situation, it seemed that the mimic’s food did not want to remain inside the chest. Percival explained a well thought out plan to escape the chest through some synchronized rocking. However, in practice, Percival’s movements were a bit more awkward. In the tight confines, the boy would just sort of wiggle and grind against the walls and Winnie. It did nothing to improve their situation but at least Percival was getting a good exercise.

While Winnie had to endure the pelvic maneuverings of her companion, she would offer a far more formidable challenge to the mimic. With the strength of her legs, she was able to quickly leverage herself enough to rock the chest violently. With a sudden violent crash, the chest would topple to the side and regurgitate the pair into a patch of grass. The strange animated chest was still moving but appeared to have trouble returning to its little nubby feet.

Percival and Winnie were ejected a few feet away from the chest, for once not landing on eachother. They were now in a long, unfamiliar corridor. It was clearly not the part of the maze where they had been initially devoured. Instead, this corridor seemed to have flower petals blanketing the ground and several flowers seemed to be blooming from the hedge walls. Forward down the corridor was an archway. An archway that clearly led back onto the grounds. An exit from the maze and their date. All they had to do was go forward...

Available Directions: Forward to the exit or go backwards into an unknown part of the maze

Even though Rikki knew that the doll might be dangerous, she wasn’t afraid enough to turn away. Instead, she thought it was a good idea to take the cupcake from the doll. The moment it was removed, the tunnel they had entered closed…

Vines and roots quickly filled the gap of the tunnel they had used to enter the chamber and there wasn’t a clear way on how to get out. Now they had a cupcake but no way out. The other hand of the doll still held out an old looking key. But otherwise there was nothing new to the chamber and it seemed that there was now no pathways in or out.

"Good... Now on the count of free we will kick together. Ready? One... two... three!" he said with a grunt as he tried his best to kick his legs upwards. Forcefully extending his legs he didn't really have as much of an impact as Winnie did. Instead of helping topple the chest monster, Percival awkwardly bumped into Winnie and offered no help to the girl who used her strength alone to send them both backward

"Whooooa!"

Gray said in surprise as both kids were sent spiraling out of the chest. The prefect rolled roughly on the fresh green grass and eventually came to a stop on his chest, his face planted in the dry dirt below. After a few moments of not moving, he let out a low grown and tiredly got to his knees with care. At this point, he was exhausted and physically aching from all they had gone through, but when he looked to the right his eyes sparkled with joy to the sight of the entrance "Were almost there..." he said to himself with a relieved chuckle.

Suddenly, his thoughts would soon turn back to Winnie who was also laying on the grass not so far away. From the looks of things, she didn't look too good, especially after landing on top of her. One thing about Winnie was that she was one tough girl, something that made Gray respect the farm girl even more. Crawling to his companion, he gently nudged her on the shoulder and gave her a warming smile "Winnie look, we're almost out now." Gray said encouragingly, before getting on one knee with a groan.

Percival extended his hand out and offered to help her up. If she accepts, he'd also throw her arm over his shoulder to help walk her to the entrance "You've surprised me Winnie... I wouldn't have gotten through this without your help. Even if you were annoying at times" he joked as they limped to the entrance, his face looking down to her with the same smile.

Winnie was not certain if the cause of Percival's flailing and gyrating was due to the length of his long legs being crammed into such a small space, or if he was simply tired after everything the maze had put them through. Either way, she would release a grunt as she tried to get her footing. "Stop squirming so much... It's distracting." It felt like he was trying to invent some sort of weird new dance from the way his legs and hips kept hitting her sides. She would have laughed at the prefect if she had more energy, the action only earned him a small huff of amusement exhaled through her nostrils.

Apparently, Percival was not prepared for her farm girl strength. Lifting was all in the legs, and she was never one to miss leg day, baby, of course the girl who helped lug hay across her father's farm had strong calves. Thankfully it was a softer landing this time, especially since she did not have a much larger boy falling on top of her. When she hit the ground she wasn't that eager to scramble back to her feet. She was exhausted from their journey and coated in a layer of quickly drying mud, the substance weighing down her ridiculously long tresses. She groaned when the prefect nudged her. "Yes... Almost... Almost free." She was never entering another maze again.

Needless to say, Winnie was more than happy to see the exit. She would accept the help of Percival, her annoyance for the boy had quickly fizzled out (for now) once the two of them had learned how to work together. "Keh, you were the annoying one." She teased but returned the prefect's smile regardless. "Actually... I'm glad I was with you, you're not so bad after all."

The flowers blooming among the hedges offered a promise of peace. Either that or it was another trap. Winnie had never been more tempted to reach out and pluck a single flower from the hedge, but after all the two of them had been through she decided against it. Besides, it was kind of hard to separate from the Slytherin when the two of them were supporting each other.
Action: Exiting the maze with Percival. HOPEFULLY.

The date through the maze seemed to be proceeding about as well as was possible. It had been filled with privacy, cuddling, moonlit swimming, close encounters, and now a pathway of beautiful flowers. If there was ever a place for a moonlight kiss, where better than here. But perhaps they were controlling themselves in the view of the maze. Opting to just accept the begrudging friendship that seemed to be blossoming. It was a start at least.

As the pair turned and began to approach the exit, the flowers were just asking to be plucked. Each one they passed looked ready to be snatched up. Perhaps intelligently, however, the pair avoided plucking any potentially dangerous flowers. Instead they would stride forward and through the threshold of the maze into the free and fresh air of the grounds. Despite finding each other slightly irritating, the pair had proved that they could work successfully together. They had avoided many of the more dangerous paths and made it out mostly unscathed. They could undoubtedly find time to thank the generous Groundskeeper for so kindly giving them the chance to bond and grow closer. Or they would now be wary of the man who builds a maze of horrors for students...
