Rita Su wrote: 15 Apr 2023, 01:54 I already asked Mr. Lear about this and I think I better copy this here as well.
Anyway, I`m a little confused about Mr. Lear`s recently posts about characters that no longer exist. Some of Rita`s and Andy`s friends or even best friends are now gone, and I used to say in some former threads that they maybe went to a different school or just disappeared for some reason maybe due to family issues, so my question is does that count as Godmodding? Or you just let the former things gone and I`m not in trouble as long as I do not do that again? Thanks very much for understanding!
That would be problematic because the character isn't necessarily gone from the school. The character may still be in class every day. There is no consent as to what is happening, claiming they are gone would already be godmodding.
So even though I did that before, I'll be fine as long as I don't mention them again?
If you can remember where you mentioned it, it would be good if you edited it out.

I think I've actually done that a few times due to the disappearance of one user left some major gaps in the story cos the PC and iNPC of a now nonexistent user have some very signifiant bond with my PC and iNPC

FAQ — Questions
We simply ask that you only roleplay things that actually happen on site. If someone is no longer posting on the site, then the last things that they did for certain are the things that they roleplayed. Please do not say they did something, are someplace, etc. Just leave them alone. It would be like me writing that my character just had lunch with yours. This assumes that they are having lunch at the same place and time and that they were willing to eat lunch with me. The user might decide in their head cannon that they left for Beauxbatons. Yes, we understand that out of character a former user might say "yes I am OK with you saying that we eat lunch everyday together because we are besties." The only problem with this is that we have no way of knowing for certain that they gave their consent (and if they did not, then it is godmodding) without us finding them (and if they were banned we do not want to talk to them, there are good reasons for their removal) and contacting them about the site they are no longer a member of (and if they departed from the site because they are no longer interested in the site, this is basically the staff harassing them). I do apologize for the inconvenience that comes with this sort of restriction.

For full disclosure and transparency, a recently banned user had suggested to their former roleplay partners that they consider mentioning them in roleplays despite being asked not to do so to be "chaotic." This amounts to harassment. So in addendum to the aforementioned reasons, we also have this being used as a tool to cause discomfort among members of the community so I politely ask that people please just leave them out of their roleplays. There is no issue talking about the interactions you have had with them in the past but we do ask for a modicum of respect to be extended to these former users that have left or been banned (they still own their PCs/iNPCs) and the staff (we are not willing or are we comfortable with verifying their consent).

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

So from my best knowledge, regardless of what I had said about those nonexistent characters, as long as I don`t mention them from now on, I`ll be fine?

Let's keep it at that for now. If a Prefect on patrols identifies something, they might ask you to edit it.
