So, long story short I tried to ask my mom if I could get tested for adhd, and she responded, "but you don't have it"
i never really realised how such a short sentence could hurt so much, so yeah that's really it. Not very significant, but I just wanted to let it off my chest

Sometimes it can be how it's said or how we receive/hear it that just ticks us off. Happens to all of us sometimesKayla Realma wrote: 5 Sep 2024, 13:21 So, long story short I tried to ask my mom if I could get tested for adhd, and she responded, "but you don't have it"

Just remain calm. I know in a way it can feel like it's invalidating what you're trying to say or what you're worried about, but trying to fight over it won't help. So don't let it get to you too much

Oww, that could really hurt if someone says that to you. I´ve been tested myself (not for adhd, but another type of neurodiversity) and before nobody would believe me if I showed them memes and stuff as "prove". That hurt too, especially from the people close to us, and from whom we just want some acknowledgement.Kayla Realma wrote: 5 Sep 2024, 13:21 So, long story short I tried to ask my mom if I could get tested for adhd, and she responded, "but you don't have it"

If you´re sure, just keep trying. There are no guarantees. But eventually you will be old enough to do it yourself if you really want to. I know that doesn´t help you know, but better late then never.
Is there maybe someone in your surroundings you can contact who can help you? Someone at school maybe?

it was honestly like that for me too. i only recently got diagnosed with adhd bc my mom was convinced i didn't have it. and anytime i brought it up she always said that i was js looking for attention or an excuse for my bad grades.Kayla Realma wrote: 5 Sep 2024, 13:21 So, long story short I tried to ask my mom if I could get tested for adhd, and she responded, "but you don't have it"

@Ruby Night - ill try to contact at school when i go on Sunday, but im not too sure. I'll just keep trying, thanks
@Alexandria Clark - hurts a bunch. But I glad you were able to get that diagnosis, I'll just keep bringing it up until she caves, i guess.
I kind of get her reasoning on her side- so I'm okay right now, thanks y'all

first of all, i just wanted to say that, if YOU think you have it, then try to convince your mom to get a test, and if whether it comes back positive we’ll always be here for youKayla Realma wrote: 5 Sep 2024, 13:21 So, long story short I tried to ask my mom if I could get tested for adhd, and she responded, "but you don't have it"

second of all, i myself haven’t gone through this, but ive started to suspect i have ocd and anxiety though but I don’t know. i might ask my parents to get tested
third of all, even the smallest things can hurt, like that sentence, so maybe try to talk to your mom saying that you just want to test it, just to see because she can’t be 100% sure
im here for you if you if you need to talk or just a hug

Yesturday I found out that my friend group has been having sleepovers every saturday since june and been purposefully not inviting me and keeping it a secret from me. It hurts so bad because I thought I finally found a safe trusting friend group. I've invited them over on saturdays a few times in the past few months and now I know why they were always busy. I'm crushed. I keep asking myself what did I do wrong but I think maybe they just genuinely don't like me as a person which makes sense because I don't even like myself. I'm so annoying and hyper all the time

You didn't do anything wrong! that's really sad to hear . Highschool can be pretty tough especially with bigger friendgroup where a lot of things happen. I actually experienced something similar and I know that being excluded hurts. Maybe you can try to talk to one of the friends that you maybe trust the most. And don't be too rough to yourself; you aren't the problem. Sometimes you just meet the wrong people. And remember: There's always the possibility that they didn't mean to exclude youAria Wright wrote: 6 Sep 2024, 17:53 Yesturday I found out that my friend group has been having sleepovers every saturday since june and been purposefully not inviting me and keeping it a secret from me.
