Card Decorating Table

Violet was entering the Great Hall, she had heard about an upcoming event about Christmas. Apparently, they would celebrate it early this year. She thought it was weird and unusual, but why judge? After all, Christmas is all about happiness, and spreading that spirit across the Mid September would probably make the school more jolly, and the teachers, more understanding.
What Violet didn't expect was the Great Hall to be in a completely Christmas mood. The tables were decorated with ribbons, a delicious scent of cookies filled the air, and enchanted snow falling from the ceiling. But what caused more surprise in Violet's expression was the huge Christmas Tree in the center. The tree had a few ornaments, but what dominated the decoration of it was the ribbons everywhere. The whole salon was so well decorated, it actually felt like it was Christmas or December. She never expected the Holiday to be so celebrated in September.
Violet talked to a few other students, who explained to her the three possible activities. Ornaments Decoration, Cookies Decorations, and Card Decorating. She first thought of the cookies, but knowing how bad she is when decorating cakes, she scrapped that possibility. Then Violet thought of the Ornaments, but that would be too long and tiring. The only one left was the Card Decoration. She likes sending letters, so why not decorating letters? Besides, postcards are fun, and you can draw whatever you want on them, and they're easier!
She took a seat on the card decoration table, alongside multiple students, filled with materials and supplies that Violet recognized from the Muggle primary school she went to before Hogwarts. The girl never thought that she'd be using materials like these in a magic school, but it made her feel closer to home.
She looked at all the cards, some decorated, some not, and picked a white, plain card. As it had nothing written, she could just do whatever she wanted with it.
Violet started decorating, which reminded her of the cards she used to draw. Her mother kept them all, even if the drawings were ugly and made no sense. These ones included more crafts and colored paper. Since she did them at her old school, she felt as if it wasn't very new to her. She glued a blue colored paper on the front, and attempted to draw, on white paper, some snowflakes. She then cut them out with a pair of scissors. Violet was thinking of the arrangement of the snowflakes, but they seemed a bit boring.
The girl took a pause and looked around the table. All of the students were occupied with their own cards or other sorts of decorations. She looked around the table's supplies. A spark gleamed in her eyes when she saw the flask of glitter. "Now this is more like it" Violet thought to herself. She took two flasks of glitter: one white, the other blue. The Puff then covered the paper snowflakes with glitter of both colours. She glued them to the paper, and the front was completed. Violet didn't really thought of what to do on the back, so she just drew a "V" of Violet on paper, very softly with a pencil, and then used some of the glitter to make it sparkle.
Violet decided to write a message to her parents, nothing too detailed, as what mattered was the decoration on the front part. She thought for some seconds about what to write, looking up at the ceiling, as if it helped her creative block.
After a few minutes, she started writing.
The girl re-read her message multiple times, wondering if it was gramatically correct. Violet then smiled and closed the card, proud of her drawing and her note. She decided to use some glitter to draw a heart inside the card itself, just for it to feel more personal.Dear Mom and Dad
Currently, there's an activity about Christmas. It's weird It's a bit weird because I'm sending this to you on September, but I dont think you guys mind it. Also I hope you like what did on the front of the card The Great Hall has snow falling from the ceiling, but it doesnt fall, it's really cool. We have to do that on our house sometime. I like these activities and I think i've been doing decently at school. I really like Hogwarts and I miss you guys!!
Hugs from Violet!
Violet never thought she'd feel in such a Holiday mood in September, but the jolly spirit was quite easy to acquire apparently, all you need is to make some decoration cards.
The girl got up from her table, giving space for other people to make their cards. She then put the freshly decorated card inside her messenger bag. Violet left the Great Hall happily, thinking of what her parents would think after receiving this letter.

Card Decorating Table
As Athena walked into the great hall, she looked up at the renowned ceiling and roaring fireplaces, and thought:
“How am I actually here, in Hogwarts?!”
She looked around for her sister, Jennifer, but she had suddenly disappeared. Instead, what greeted her eyes was the whole hall split into three groups! She stumbled over to the ravenclaw table - her house, and saw some biscuits, most in the shape of a reindeer or Father Christmas! She wondered, why are we celebrating Christmas now?
Almost in answer to her question, Professor Sprout - as head of Hufflepuff - stood up at the head of the Hufflepuff table, with a few young wizards and witches at her feet, and the Hufflepuff prefects all around.
‘Hello everyone!’ she shouted ‘As it is 100 days until Christmas, we are all here to celebrate! Over at the Ravenclaw table you can do some cookie decorating—’
“So that was what that was!” thought Athena.
‘—ornament decorating is at the Gryffindoor table, and finally, here at the Hufflepuff table we are doing some card writing! Now chop-cop! We haven’t got all day!’
Athena wandered around for a few minutes, before her sister appeared and dragged her over to the card making table.
‘What are you doing here lil sis! Come and write cards with me!’ Jennifer joked.
‘Fine!’ Athena replied, secretly glad that she had something to do.
Athena picked up a card and thought, who should I write to? She decided to write to her elderly grandmother, who was living with her parents at their house.
She wrote:
Dear Grandmother, 16th September
I am having a lovely time here at Hogwarts! And Jennifer is actually being kind to me! She is here now writing letters! I am afraid I am not very good at making friends yet
Athena quickly rubbed that line out and rewrote:
Dear Grandmother, 16th September
I am having a lovely time here at Hogwarts! And Jennifer is actually being kind to me! She is here now writing letters! I have lots of friends here, there are lots of lovely people! I hope you are well?
The real reason I am writing is to say:
Merry Christmas!
For some reason we are celebrating Christmas 100 days early! Did you have to do that when you came to Hogwarts?
I have had lots of fun here! The professors are being very kind! But, I still have quite a bit of prep! You know me though, I will get it all done today!
Tomorrow I have the worst lessons! History of Magic, AND Potions! Snape is being awful to the Gryffindors, yet not too bad to us!
How is Mother and Father?
I hope you are all well!
Best wishes,
Your loving granddaughter,
Athena Teal xxx
After signing off, Athena turned to the front cover, she drew Hogwarts, with herself and Jennifer beside it. She added Merry Christmas to the top, in red and green, then slipped it into an envelope. Sealing the envelope, Athena wrote: For Grandmother on the front, then slipped out of her bench and started climbing the stairs to the owlery. Covered by shelves, all filled with owl nests, the owlery was a cacophony of noise. The rustle of feathers here, the splat of owl droppings there, and the soft hoot of the owls as they turned to see their visitor. Athena stepped forward and picked out her favourite owl, it was brown and slightly speckled, with darker brown spots scattered across its back and wings. A white heart covered its face as it stuck out its leg for the note. A barn owl. Athena gently tied on the letter with some string to its leg, and whispered, ‘To Grandmother please?!’
The owl gave an affectionate peck of her finger, before eating a pellet of food, and taking off into the air.
Athena watched the owl disappear, until it was only a speck in the sky, before turning around and strolling down the stone stairs.

Card Decorating Table

Vivienne had never been too fond of Christmas. For her family, it had always meant dinner with people Vivienne barely knew anything about, apart from the fact that they were apparently important figures. In the recent years, her brothers had grown up enough to make the festive season somewhat enjoyable for her, which would be part of the reason Vivi was here today.
Upon hearing that the prefects had organized a Christmas-related event, Vivienne was surprised. Celebrating the festive season in September seemed like a stretch, but who was she to avoid some good fun? She'd been so excited to come to Hogwarts, and since it was still fairly early into the school year, her good spirits were still perfectly in place. She wanted to try anything and everything she could, and thus the prospect of skipping out on this was out of the picture.
And so, she took a seat at the table, passing a smile to anyone who looked at her. The card she picked out had some sort of red-and-white Christmas pattern drawn out as border, which she couldn't help but think was really pretty.
Picking up her quill, she began to write to her brothers;
Dear Atlas and Lucas,
Merry Christmas! Well, Merry 100 Days Before Christmas! I'm aware we haven't celebrated it before, and I would like to tell you that we will from this year onward. I hope you're not having too much fun without me already. Jokes apart, I'm doing good here, and I hope you guys are doing well too. I learned from mom's owl that they're planning to send Atlas to France to live with aunt Sylvia, but I think you should protest if you'd rather not go. So much to get you into Beauxbatons. Apart from that, I expect to be home for Christmas at around 23rd of December, don't miss me too much until then!
Say hi to mom and dad for me! Sending lots of love, hugs, and holiday spirits
Your sister,
Vivi
After finishing up the last of her writing, Vivienne cross-checked the letter for any errors. Upon finding none, she looked around at the various decorative elements available for her to use, and decided to go with some red glitter and gems, before folding the letter neatly.
She loved the card she'd made, and for what was probably the first time, she couldn't wait for Christmas.
The powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?

A This card was shaped like a snowman and had a snake as a scarf, a special addition for Tes. Jada had added glitter to the little black circles made to look like stones on the snowman's face and buttons and the little carrot nose. This card, unlike the other one, was tucked neatly into an envelope. She picked up her two cards and left the great hall.It was barely even halfway through September and people were already getting excited about Christmas. Some people are honestly too enthusiastic sometimes. The leaves were only beginning to change colour and the temperatures starting to sink. Jada had heard of the event, 100 Days 'till Christmas Day, by word of mouth. Everyone seemed to be talking about it in the corridors, the classrooms, even in the bathrooms! She hadn't planned on attending, still didn't really, she only wanted to stop by and see what they were doing with all the space in the great hall.
Walking, she moved over to one of the large tables. It was littered with paper, colour pencils and glitter. Card Decorating she thought. Jada hadn't actually sent any letters since she'd returned, maybe she could send one now, even if it wasn't Christmas themed.
She picked a piece of paper, folding it in half to make a card. It wasn't her first time making cards, she'd made plenty for friends and relatives before, but she was out of practice. She looked over at what the others have made. Some were striped with red and white like candy canes whereas others were shaped like christmas trees. Perhaps I'll make one like that She held the folded piece of green paper, cutting triangles out to shape it like a tree.It was a bit basic but nothing noteworthy had happened so far. No adventure or drama. Simply lessons, homework and school life. The letter would probably reach her mother, she wondered if her father would ever get to read the letter or whether it would be forgotten about. Adding the finishing touches to the card, she put it to one side, reaching for a new piece of paper.Dear Mum or Dad (Whoever is reading this),
I know I haven't written to you since arriving, I would say it's due to a lack of time but that would be a lie. I'm doing alright, everything is the same as last year only we aren't the youngest anymore. I've met again with old faces and met new ones as well. I know I broke some rules last year but I promise I'll be better this year, no more sneaking into Hogsmeade or pranking people. I hope you've been doing just as well as I have and I hope to hear back from you soon.
Love,
Jada
Maybe she would write another letter. One to Tes. Tes was her best friend and roommate, they'd met last year and remained close. Jada doubted she would get one back, Tes wasn't like that, but she might as well write on while she was here.
Dear Tes,
I'm writing this at the 100 days before christmas event so, Merry Christmas I guess. Thank you for being my best friend here at Hogwarts. I'm not really sure what else to say so I'll just end here.
Love From,
Jada
She climbed up and up the winding staircase all the way to the owlery. When she'd been looking for a pet, she hadn't thought of how useful it might be to have an owl to deliver all your mail for you. Instead, she now had to use the slow school owls. At least they got the job done. The two letters were soon tied onto the leg of some poor owl or other before taking off to deliver their load. B

Card Decorating Table

15th September
On the night of September 14th, it was a 3. He had established this earlier while he was holding someone hostage for having hair that made him look at them longer than usual.
Now, his plan after the whole ornament thing was to just leave it be. Among the 3 activities, that was the only one that ever really stood out to him. Therefore, since he had itched his urge for art and crafts, he was going back to his room or run around the courtyard. Whichever he felt like doing when he walked out those doors.
But the thing is.... when Demo has 1 destination in mind, he often forgot to anticipate the many detours that would... occur during this journey from the great hall to his room. And he wouldn't realise it until his feet were already walking the opposite direction of the exit. He witnessed the living blobs of flesh before him, making ornaments, cookies, and cards.
The cards were the least curious thing. What tickled his curiosity was the boy that seemed so enthusiastic about writing cards. 1 was normal. 3 was okay. More than that??? Why use your limited energy for your motor skills for this instead of something more productive, or mentally stimulating! Demo stopped right behind the boy's left. Uncaring how this comes across. " What are you doing? And who's paying you?" The bluntness of it didn't bother to be hidden for politeness sake. This was a stranger after all! So what. This whole hall was full of strangers. But if they were secretly being paid to write cards, Demo was curious to know more about it.

I blinked when Minju held the card out to me.
My eyes immediately went to the drawing of us both together she had made herslf and I could nott stop the smile that spread across my face.
"For me?"
I carefully took the card from her holding it like it was something precious.
"It's lovely Minju."
I looked at her agai feeling a warm little happiness in my chest. She had actually made a card for me. I had not expected that at all.
I opened it carefully and read what she had written. My smile only grew as I reached the end.
"You spelled it correctly" I said to her looking up with a small laugh. "And I really like it."
I placed her card safely into my bag.
"I made yours too."
I handed out a small purple and pink card that I had just made. The edges had little hand drawn leaves and tiny stars. I had also drawn two very small kind of silly looking Christmas trees at the bottom along with a little doodle of a snowman wearing a hat and holding a cake.
I handed it to Minju.
"I tried to make it pretty" I said a littleembarrassed.
"I also added some doodles because I didn't know what else to draw."
Inside I had written:
Dear Minju,
Happy Birthday! I hope you have a really lovely day. I'm very happy that we met again and I'm glad I get to celebrate your birthday with you this year.
I hope this new year brings you lots of happy memories, good friends, and wonderful things. And since we are celebrating Christmas in September now... Merry Early Christmas!
From, Penelope
At the back I drew two little figures holding hands with a tiny heart between them.
I looked at the card one last time before smiling.
"I hope you like it."
Then I looked around at all the Christmas decorations, ribbons, glitter and cards scattered across the table.
"Maybe celebrating Christmas a hundred days early isn't so strange after all."
For once, I was nt thinking about how overwhelmin Hogwarts felt or how much I missed home.
I was just happy to be here with Minju, on her birthday.
