Yes it's a math game.
I'm good too, I just don't want to do my homework
Juniper Kelly wrote: 28 Nov 2021, 14:36 Yeah
if you ever make an account, here's a tip: When it asks for your grade, click the lowest grade level option so it gives you easier math and stuff
I am temped to make an account... I need to make my math homework, but I don't want to do it, so I'm going to make an account on this math game

O.o

I've been too busy with writing on here to play prodigy xD and my irl life

Ngl, I still find time to work on a character.

The updates to Poptropica ruined it a few years ago. They had some good islands and adventures but then they updated the game, removing islands- meaning they removed my medals as well. I had the game guide (with cheats) and then they removed it.

I wish it was for science too

If yer playing tonight I might join ;) I just need to make a rough draft of chapter eight for Ancient Mage and work on the Orc King- flesh out some rumors- too much work

Designing an Encyclopedia
Encyclopedias are an important part of HiO. They give you an opportunity to explore your character, and they're also very helpful when you begin to start roleplaying! Also, they are mandatory if you want to register into the official index. When designing your encyclopedia, you have to have at least two specific posts, which are explained in this very helpful guide! If you want to know how to make your encyclopedia and posts fun and aesthetic, keep reading!
Applying for Special Races
Yes, you can be a different species (other than human), but you have to apply within the first thirty days. So what are the benefits of being a part-human? This guide explains it well! However, here is a quick run-down: you can apply for a dhampir, Metamorphmagus, parselmouth, part giant, part goblin, seer, part-Veela, and a werewolf. There are several perks to each, so make sure to read the linked guide. Abilities are also explained there!
...
*.✧ Earning Money ✧.*
Do you want to make money onsite? On HiO, you can earn wizarding currency, as in Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts. Read this article, which will tell you all you need to know.
A common question that people ask is how to make money. To answer that question, the simplest way to do it is to show up on site every day and head to your dormitory (boys/girls) in your house Common Room. At the top, there is a silver circle or a timestamp, as well as several other icons. Just click on the silver circle and you’ll gain a Sickle. You can only collect the scholarship once every day, so the timestamp tells you how long you have to wait before being able to collect it again. The amount of Sickles you can collect will increase with each year. You can also earn extra money by participating in errands, being a part goblin, a member of the staff, or a part of the Hogwarts Headliner. Staff positions open every once a while, so I recommend subscribing to the Bulletin Board forum to get notified of every post there.
Pets
Want to have pets? You might want to save up your galleons first, but once you have enough, refer here. It will give you many options on what to buy, from a common toad to a Pygmy Puff. The prices also vary, and your pet can cost anywhere from 5 to 20 galleons.
...
Classes
Want to take classes? Here is an article that will inform you of what you need to know. Completing certain classes will give you certain spells to add to your arsenal, but remember that they are completely optional and OOC (out of character)! Also, you do have to be on the site for 10 days and have 20 posts to you unlock them.
Make sure to read the following articles if you’re interested in becoming a Quidditch player, team captain, or even just spectating. You can read this and then these spectator guidelines.
Quidditch
Your stats are really important, so make sure you understand them. This article explains what your Stamina, Evasion, Strength, Wisdom, Arcane Power, and Accuracy are for, and how you use them. Make sure to get these written, and remember to keep your character in mind!
Statistics
˗ˏˋ Duelling ´ˎ˗
If you want to duel, you’ll have to complete some classes and get your grades in return to have spells. Then, put them in your trunk by applying here and providing proof (usually via a screenshot of your report card) for the staff. Then, go to your common room, and from there, you can access the duelling application thread. Read the first post and the application process. Then, you input your character’s accurate information. Below is an example application. Note: These pictures are taken from the Gryffindor Common Room, your house common room will be slightly different, but it'll still contain applications.

· · ─────── The Leaky Cauldron ─────── · ·
Now, let's explore the Leaky Cauldron! It may not seem as vast as Hogwarts, but it's filled to the brim with hidden gems and goods. To arrive here, hover over the Hogwarts Crest icon in the top left-hand corner and go down to Wizarding World.
Note: In the pictures below, Hogsmeade is available because I have the Fake Permission Slip (more on that later).

At The Counter
You are where you are, talking to us. You are in the OOC Lets Chat! Thread. But let’s explore outside of that. If you want to go shopping and buy unique things, I recommend exploringg the shops in the 'At The Counter' section. I recommend everyone, but below are some of my favourites.

Liana Kerr, first year free
Scarlet Salvatore, first year free
Sylvain Wyllt, first year special, on hiatus
Lucia Fox & Simon Kincaid, first year free
Elizabeth Lovett

There are tons more, so get looking! Have fun finding shops that offer free services, but also consider the shops that don’t offer them, since they will probably be amazing as well! Also, there are many other unique threads you can check out, like signing up for Character Tags.
Mentors
Check out the Mentor Request thread here, and your list of approved mentors are in this list. They're here to help you get used to HiO!
Rumors
Want some gossip on anyone? Do you have some juicy gossip for your own character? Check here.
Clans and Clubs
Under the Leaky Cauldron dropdown, you can see the option 'Clans and Clubs.' There are many clubs, so check them out and see if any of them interest you! You can see a list of active clubs to join here. Do you want to create a club for others to join? Read the guidelines here. Once you've created it, register the club info here.
Games Room
Under the dropdown, you can also see the option 'Games Room.' This forum contains several OOC games for you to play and enjoy, from hangman to the popular 'What does it mean to you?' to the classic 'For a Sickle, would you..?' Before you join in, make sure to read these rules. Now you're all set; have fun!

· · ─────── Other ─────── · ·
Are you curious what else lies beyond Hogwarts and the Leaky Cauldron? Here's a brief rundown of each area!
Diagon Alley
This is Diagon Alley! Did you tap that specific brick on the wall to get here? Did you travel by Floo Powder? The steps are the same as it was for the Leaky Cauldron and Hogwarts. You can get special items in some shops, specifically Weasley Wizard Wheezes, as long as you have the money. To shop for items, just click the button on the top of the forum!
London
Did you ever leave for Hogwarts? This is the location of Kings Cross Station, Platform 9¾, and the London Quidditch Station. But if you look closer, there are several different locations. Different cities are available under 'Muggle London.' You can roleplay in them when the events in your thread take place in your home - for example, during summer break.
Ministry of Magic
You travelled to the Ministry of Magic, but it's only filled with offices and courtrooms. Nothing to see here!
Hogsmeade
I'm not going to spoil your fun by spilling the secrets that only Third Years and Fake Permission Slip users know about Hogsmeade. But I will say, chocolate frogs and butterbeer are for sale here.
「Special Items」
Now for the most exciting part of shopping: special items!
If you're visiting Diagon Alley, make sure to check out Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and their shop! Not only do they sell pranking items, they also sell Fake Permission Slips, Marauder's maps, and invisibility cloaks!
If you're visiting Hogsmeade, make sure not to miss Honeydukes and their shop! They sell all kinds of sweets, but most importantly, they sell collectible chocolate frogs!
──────────
Fake Permission Slip Cost: 5 Galleons; Purpose: Grants you access to Hogsmeade before third year
Maruader's Map Cost: 10 Galleons; Purpose: Allows you to see where people are on the map
Invisibility Cloak Cost: 75 Galleons; Purpose: Hides you on the Marauder's Map
Chocolate Frogs Cost: 20 Knuts; Purpose: Collectible cards
┕━━━━━━━☆━━━━━━━┙
Recap

• Click on the icon to access the shop in Diagon Alley
• Check out Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, which sells Fake Permission Slips and other goodies
• Check out Honeydukes (in Hogsmeade) and their chocolate frogs
• Hogsmeade is available once you reach third year or if you have the Fake Permission Slip

· · ─────── Coding ─────── · ·
Last part, I promise! Bear with me. If you've gotten this far, you're in luck! This is the best part - although it's not the most necessary... it's still great!
Do you remember how I mentioned that you can make your encyclopedia and posts aesthetic and fun? This crash course tells you how to do so!
On HiO, we have a system of 'coding' that enables you to make your posts stand out. Whenever you make a post, you will see a toolbar on the top. This toolbar is the key to succeeding in coding. You might have already figured out that theicon bolds words, theicon italicized, and theicon underlines. But what about the , , , and icons? Read this guide, and if you have any questions, feel free to tag me in this thread (Callista Lovis) or shoot me an owl!
