Reason for Reapplication: I am finally giving Galahad abilities and I am adding a section on him being a loner for fear of endangering friends and family as an Auror. I am going to rely on this as part of his corporeal patronus application.

As he learned more about what being an Auror entailed and what they did, Galahad began to get his own visions of what the job entailed as he went along. He envisioned being an Auror not dissimilar to being a loner detective you see in so many muggle TV shows. It would be him against the world, out there on his own trying to keep the forces of evil at bay, holding the line one day at a time. The more he learned about dark wizards, the more he also began to view connections as a weakness. He was afraid that if he became too close to people, they would be put at risk of being used as a means to get to him. After he completed his O.W.L.s and it became clear that he had the aptitude and will to become an Auror, he began to start isolating himself. He had friends at school but he only kept them at arm’s length from fear of getting too close. He was only really close with his dueling partner because they needed that connection to be successful.

This pattern continued after he left school and began working at the Ministry as an Auror in Training. He developed a reputation around the office as seeming a bit cold, but it wasn’t his nature, he just didn’t want to make himself vulnerable by making connections. He had a close relationship with his partner, they grew to be like brothers, but beside that relationship the closest person to him was a fellow Auror named Orion Lécuyer. There had always been an intense attraction between them but for fear of making him a target, Galahad always chose to focus on his work rather than pursue a relationship with him. The end result was a lonely, solitary existence. When Galahad wasn’t working he was at home, sipping gin and playing his piano or listening to music. When his Partner was killed, that was it for Galahad, he couldn’t take the solitude any longer.

• Loops is a German wizarding family with a latent Seer bloodline that has gotten less and less powerful over the centuries. Three generations ago, they left Germany and came to Britain. During the 70's my character's grandfather (irrelevant and tragically nameless) met Rebecca Stern at Hogwarts (my character's namesake! OG Rebecca!) who was a super hardcore lady. They fought in the 1st war against voldemort, then had two kids named Gunther and Gilbert.
• Gunther met Jennifer Wiggins (rebecca jr's future mom) at Hogwarts, but during their 4th year is when Voldemort took over the Ministry of Magic and started persecuting muggleborns (that includes jen oh nooo!). OG Rebecca hid Jen and a few other muggleborns at her house for most of the year, but then it got raided and OG Rebecca was sent to Azkaban. Jen got away, but her leg was injured and she still has the scar. Luckily, the war ended like 1 month later and OG Rebecca survived/was freed. But none of the Loops family are big fans of the Ministry after that whole interaction. Very politically active, attending protests and keeping up-to-date on the goings on.
• Jen and Gunther got married and settled down in Godric's hollow to have their first two kids. Jen continued her education, got a law degree and worked as a clerk for a while. Gunther did odd jobs for a while and wrote little poetry segments for a local newspaper. They moved to London in 2020 and now Jen works retail at a quidditch supplies shop and Gunther is a custodian at the leaky cauldron. There's some details in the post about their home as well, which they're renting from a squib couple.
• Emelia is Rebecca's oldest sister, she's married to a muggle she met after rescuing him from a pack of hinkypunks. She's moved out now and lives with him.
• Morgan is the middle child, still living at home. She's a Seer (not a very powerful one) and she's got a job at the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Mysteries. Her parents disapprove, but she's actually proud of her job and in general is way more into wizard culture than the rest of the family (dressing anachronistically, avoiding muggle areas, lowkey pretending to be a pureblood).
• Rebecca Loops is named after Rebecca Stern (the cool grandmother), but his middle name is Fletcher which was their second choice in case he grew up and decided he hated his name. Fortunately, he likes his name!

Despite her happy-go-unlucky attitude, Vale's sense of fashion reflects greatly upon afro-gothicism. Bright colors are not refused, but has a heavy preference for dark tones. Gold can be found across her body, from bracelets to the cuffs found in her long, thin-woven dreadlocks which can be found sometimes in a bundle mess. While known to be in her mandatory Slytherin uniform and robes, she also dresses herself in black gowns and a satin bonnet to protect her hair during her curfew hours. She has dark skin and likes to keep her nails sharp and black.

A horrowing history of potion experimentation has caused the Ashwoods to have an influx of mutations. Vale's amber eyes shine brillantly, and her eye color quite unusual. There is no ill effect from this, but it is yet to be seen what further mutations she may experience over the years as she ages.

First Instance of Magic

Vale comes from a family with a historic background of potioneers and herbologists. They had gifts to search the land and discover findings that would encourage them to continue their practice. Vale, despite her young age and lack of potioneering experiences, already had the instinct to search the grounds for the strangest of items.

Her mother left her alone for only a moment to return to her herb gardening nearby. Vale immediately made work of the ground, digging and searching for whatever she deemed worth her efforts. She dug for a while amongst the foggy exterior of her home, yet her digging led to nothing of note. A slight smoke escaped Vale's mouth, and her building frustration accumulated until she let out a angry shriek for her fruitless efforts.

Her mother's shed erupted in flames immediately, and the commotion has caused her father to rush out in a confused shamble to the scene. There was a slight panic, a possible fear for his wife and daughter's whereabouts until Adana's casual appearance next to her husband to watch the eruption of flames. Vale since pulled away and her hand held by her mother.

The whole family eventually came out to watch, finding the shed had nothing of importance. A need to be replaced. The ashes from the flames were placed in a urn and set upon the main room's fireplace as loving reminder of Vale's first day of chaos.

Personality

If one values their sanity, it is best to pivot away from the Ashwood family, especially its latest generation.

Speaking to dolls as if they can communicate normally, the casual acceptance of allegedly being on ministry watch (along with the rest of the family), and the sinister, hyena-like laughter that ended up passing down to Vale usually scares off people from socially interacting with the young girl. The rumors of being on ministry watch with the rest of her family also doesn't help expand her social bubble.

As common with Ashwoods, Vale is surprisingly polite. Although at random intervals, she will replace vocabulary words with opposite meanings as if they're meant to be in polite conversation. And would have the strange instinct to use her five senses to study anything that comes across her curiousity. If asked for her reason behind this, it would be declared for 'researching', even if it might be considered unsanitary.

Despite her uncanny nature, Vale has a strange talent to recall things instantly. Most recalls would be without reason or necessity, like remembering a fellow classmate wearing a bowtie instead of a tie one specific day. But the occasional recall would prove some purposes, such as recalling a long-winded chemical equation and its components. It is unknown if this is due to having a long legacy of potion experimentation that still curses the family to modern times.

Bright and cheerful, yet easily bored and curious to the point its destructive, Vale will do whatever it takes to satisfy her own nature. While empathetic to all creatures alike, she is merciless in her pursuit for knowledge and chaos.

The Ashwoods are a pure-blooded family that survived since pre-colonial Africa. Only their natural talents in potioneering and herbology outlast their legacy.

While their powress and contributions to the world of herbs is known, so is the consequences for tapping into such. Potion experimentation has caused the descendents to suffer illnesses and deficits. The latest to suffer these effects is none other than Vale Ashwood herself. It is unknown to what these effects may fully be for her.

The family has a grotesque nature that could potentially even be criminal to an intent. This nature would lead to their current housing occasionally being filled with various people and creatures with something off about them.

While their grotesque nature may throw people off, they are surprisingly empathetic and advocate extremely for the rights of various beings and creatures, including those outcasted due to social norms. While holding a legacy of creating poisons to harm their enemies, there's also a legacy of healing and well-natured curing of loved ones. While the direct descendents are pure-blooded, those that branch outside the purity are regarded with unconditional affections.

Vale strives to follow in her family's footsteps, taking traits of potioneering and herbology. Along with taking her education for it seriously. Whether its for destructive reasons or not, is up to fate.

Vale has a distinguishable sense of fashion. Most of her clothes are colored black, and take an afro-gothic/tribal sense of attire. Like the rest of her family, she takes to wearing golden jewelry. For her first year, she will either have her hair up with a signature black bow resting on the top of her head, or have it in braided pigtails. But in later years, she will be found with long dreadlocks embedded with gold cuffs. Other than the mandatory Slytherin school uniform, Vale can be found in more casual wear in the dorms and other settings with her hair undecorated and loose.

Her eyes have a slight golden touch to them, and will sometime change colors depending on her current outfit. No magic is involved with this trait and can be assumed to be that of genetics.

Having a family of potioneers and herb collectors, Vale also inherited the trait of scouting for items. Worms, one day, were on Vale's list to collect. It was anyone's guess as to why she needed such slimy creatures, but digging she went on to do. She kept at it for at least an hour near her family's garden shed until she started to become rather frustrated. So frustrated she didn't so much as notice her mouth was starting to smoke like that of a dragon's. Eventually, her frustration caught up with her and she made a shout of anger when she still found no worms to her liking. The shout ended up causing a burst of flames coming from her mouth that ended up striking against the family's garden shed.

The commotion sent her father out in a haze of confusion to check up on her, only to find the garden shed set afire. It made him bring the whole family out to see Vale watching in confusion of the burning shed. As responsible adults, they all sat down with Vale to watch the shed burn away as a family. They always enjoyed a good fire. And with ashes from the aftermath, Vale's mother would place in a urn on top of the main room's fireplace to remind everyone of the chaos Vale was destined to spew.

The Ashwood Family has a long history of having a natural talent in the art of potioneering and herbology. The family's past is archaic, and filled with disturbing details. One of them being that potion experimentation actually ended up creating the Ashwoods as they are known as today. Speculations are that the Ashwoods used to be considered 'normal' before their bloodline became poisoned from the use of potions throughout their generations. Exactly what amount of damage the potion experimentation have done to the family is yet to be known, with Vale being the latest victim of the poisoned bloodline.

Whatever the case may be, it is known that the family now have a very morbid nature. A nature that could arguably even be labeled as criminal. The family ancestors would travel across the world and meet various people and beings on their journey of pursuit on knowledge. Because of this, the Ashwood mansion would be filled with many different people, or even creatures that had something off about them.

Despite all of this, the Ashwoods had a sense of empathy, especially for those outcasted by society for not following the correct social norms. While learning poisons fit for murder, they also took to learning the art of healing. The family is very open-minded on those around them, not caring as to who ends up joining the family circle. Vale would end up taking these traits as well.

Vale has no shame nor fear of the world around herself. She aims to complete feats in the world of potioneering along with herbological research, no matter what destiny lies ahead of her in doing so.

Vale could be considered a typical girl...that is if you bypass her horrific laughter and her being under ministry watch along with the rest of her family. Okay, maybe not so typical. But she has dolls! Well, dolls that she talks to and will end up beheading at some rate, but dolls nonetheless.

Vale is polite, surprisingly. Taking care to ensure polite conversation no matter who she is talking to. She is always cheerful when it comes to talking to others. But when it comes to manners, Vale doesn't truly have the correct idea on them down. Like her family, they are prone to use their five senses to study anything they end up curious about. Well, usually at most two of them. Vale decided on her own terms its best to use all senses for now, in her first year. Vale once in a while would be found doing her own act of 'studying' things, even if it is considered...'unsanitary.'

Do not let her uncanny nature fool you. She is strangely intelligent for a girl her age. Able to recall past information with ease, which could be incredibly useful for her, but possibly not for those around her if they wished to forget certain things. Prehaps this is a trait brought down throughout the Ashwood family lineage. Prehaps a side effect from her poisoned bloodline. Whatever the case may be, Vale is more than capable when it comes to academic study.

Her personality and actions have led her to being unpredictable in a sense. Mostly motivated by boredom and curiousity, with disregard to authority should it block her way into satisfying her nature. If she wishes to learn something, she will learn it. Whether or not it meant destroying something in return. While empathetic to all creatures, Vale is merciless in her pursuit for knowledge and chaos.

1) Olive and @Andrew Vance are second cousins, Andrew's paternal grandmother (Hannah Vance) and Olive's paternal grandfather (Arthur Campbell) being siblings. Andrew and Olive are as close as second cousins can be, but the truth of either one being a wizard/witch has not been revealed to the other. This truth is revealed during the 2022 Christmas holiday break and is a significant factor that prompts Andrew to return to Hogwarts.

2) In addition to Olive's backstory, I was meaning to make her sister die in an ice skating accident. Olive and Madeline are skating outside of their house on a frozen lake, Olive goes inside the house to fetch something, and the ice breaks, making Madeline fall into the frozen lake. Madeline does not know how to swim, so when Olive comes back, her sister has basically given up and is just seconds away from drowning. Olive witnesses her sister's last attempts at saving herself and cries for help but when her parents come back it is too late.

Clarifying that she did not magically save herself, since Madeline did not believe that her wand would be a necessity at that time for she was at home and did not think that the ice might break, forcing her to swim, so she left it in her room or somewhere inside the house (basically far from her reach).

3) Changing the age difference between Olive and her sister from 3 years to 8- so when she died, she was 17 instead of 11.
