For the 6 people on the piste, only half would find a wand pointed at them. Phelan would be the first as Ariam and Ariana trained their wands on the Beauxbatons student. While the strategy seemed sound- mute and then curse- Ariam struggled to concentrate as he stared into a face of terror. The intention remained yet backfired as the Castelobruxo student found himself unable to speak. Ariana found more success, able to shake away the uneasy feeling as she aimed towards Phelan. Both had a similar idea as they aimed or dodged, both the spell and target ending up in the same place yet not near enough. Mucus dripped, a headache from the congestion dulling the senses as a dizziness washed over and darkness clouded his outer vision. He would need a break soon, but Phelan could push through this round to join his teammates in focusing on Ariana with a flurry of Flipendos.

While all of their spells crossed to the other side of the piste, the level of success in hitting varied wildly. Phelan, suffering from the spell cast upon him, would miss as Ariana narrowly leapt away from the line of fire. Aurélie would just barely clip the other as Phelan's spell distracted from the Castelobruxo student's dodging. The graze stopped Ariana's momentum though as Geneviève squarely hit the duellist in a motion that sent her stumbling yet not falling. Ariana was on her last legs, but she still survived.

The same could not be said for Aurélie as she faced being the seventh year's current target. Consistent was Manu's choice in spell, the pure damage an explosion caused on display as the ground beneath the Beauxbatons student's feet erupted. A cloud of dust and debris covered the scene but as the cloud dissipated, Aurélie lay still on the ground. "STOP!" The moderator called, signaling some other attendants to help bring the duellist to a safer environment for healing and recovery. Phelan still seemed unfit to participate in the next round, but there wasn't much the moderator could do about that without interfering, stepping back as they called out- "And- CONTINUE!"

Two more spells were shot his way. Phelan attempted to dodge, but he was unable to avoid Ariana. The curse of the bogies hit him full on. He managed to shoot a flipendo back at his opponent, but he was too distracted by his mucus-y fate. On top of everything, Aurelie was down. He tried to stay focused, but it was difficult with the mucus and congestion overwhelming his senses.

And aim better she did. Resorting again to her much-beloved Blasting Curse, Manu shot a beautifully aimed spell off at the French opponent who looked the worst-off, a fiery orange light erupting from her wandtip and exploding - perfectly aimed this time - at the feet of one of the younger Beauxbatons duellists. When the smoke and rubble cleared, it was more than obvious that the younger girl was no longer fit to continue on in the duel, and a few referees carried her away. Manu had long since been desensitised to the idea of injuring someone in an official duel like this; the healers nearby would have the Beauxbatons girl fixed up in no time, and in the meantime, she and her teammates had a duel to win.

"One fewer," she muttered out of the corner of her mouth to her two younger teammates. "Two left."

Fantastic. While they had done some damage, the plan had also somewhat backfired as both her teammates where knocked out either for good or because they were hit with a mucus riddled sinus problem. Geneviève turned back to their opponents with a frustrated gleam as she started thinking about how to stand her ground as the only member of their team available at the moment.

There was a strange consistency with this group where one round would be exciting and the next slowed significantly. For some it made sense, Phelan couldn't power through the cold set upon him and seemed stuck staring into the next plane of existence. Ariam struggled with any words and thus had no potential to cast spells- the trick to casting without verbal components wouldn't be taught until a few years later the moderator suspected. It was Ariana and Geneviève that proved strange as breaks within duels were not typically afforded, but they had suffered previous injuries and had no wands at them. A quick breath could be helpful before the rounds ahead.

Manu would be the solo caster, aiming towards the recovering Beauxbatons student as his vision went dark yet he remained staggering on his feet. Phelan shuffled to keep out of the way but Manu found her target, easily casting the Bat Bogey Hex and hitting the Third Year. As though his previous sickness wasn't bad enough, all that snot and mucus transformed right in his nose and escaped as bats that surrounded and nipped at him. A painful way to clear his sinuses and a new distraction formed, Phelan wouldn't be getting a break like the others quite yet. And if tradition held, things would be ramping up again quite soon...

The world slowed around her as she murmured a victorious mutter to her teammates, and for a moment it seemed that time itself had paused, for Manu was the only one moving. One of her teammates was recovering, another zoned out - and it was the same on the opposite side of the piste. Manu threw a confused glance the ref's way, as if to say, Are you seeing this? Still, she wasn't about to let such a golden (and green!) opportunity go to waste, and a well-placed Bat-Bogey Hex caught the recovering Beauxbatons male. His runny nose filled with bats, and Manu couldn't help but chuckle slightly - for such a dangerous spell, it was still so very humorous.

But then the pace picked back up. It seemed that her lone spell had energised everyone back into remembering exactly just where they were and what they were supposed to be doing.

Phelan cursed as his older opponent hit him with yet another spell he didn’t recognize. At least his mucus was beginning to clear and he began to regain his focus. He had missed an opportunity to cast again, because of the effects of his younger opponent’s spell. He glanced at his teammate, who also looked a little lost.

“Geneviève! We got this, we aren’t out yet,” he said, trying his best to send some encouragement to his partner.

The encouraging words from Phelan managed to pull her back into the duel. Ughhh this was so hard! Why did she agree to this sport?? But thankfully with two of them fighting they would have a chance. Aurelie was still out but they could at least make it even if the two of them put their minds together and worked in perfect sync.

She hoped that soon there would be a victory in their midst.
