Pyce considered it nothing short of a miracle that they didn't die on that basilisk. Hecate spent the time they took walking away from the booth laughing himself breathless about how terrified Pyce looked the entire time. Pyce did not appreciate it.

50 tickets. Pyce got 50 tickets. It was not a bad number, not at all. But would it be enough? Logically, Pyce knew that they were at a disadvantage, but Hecate had 80 tickets to his name already. So far, they had a total of 130. A really good amount for two people at one booth. Maybe they could slip away from Hecate long enough to see how many Stella got?

"So, where to next?" Cate asked, scanning around at the other booths. "I saw one with paper airplanes. You'd probably be good at that." Pyce hummed, allowing themself to focus on getting more tickets, rather than worrying about how many the Drakes had. They just had to play into their strengths.

"Maybe. There's also whack-a-mole. You're good at that."

"Ac-tually," Hecate said in the most obnoxious tone he could muster. "I do believe it's whack-a-gnome." Pyce glared at his twin. Hecate burst out laughing once again. "Yeah, we could totally beat that one."

And so they began their walk. Hecate pulled some popcorn out of somewhere and-

"Tell me that's not from the race." Pyce winced as Hecate popped a few kernels into his mouth. Those had to be stale.

"Okay. They're not." Pyce snatched the popcorn away.

"Hecate, that was a week ago!" Hecate grabbed them back.

"So?"

"Get new popcorn??" Pyce said, incredulous.

"Hey, is that a potion themed game?" Hecate asked, getting Pyce just as distracted.

"What." They turned. Potion Plop Panic the sign read. Pyce knew that they and Hecate were weak to colorful potions and such.

The twins raced over to the booth, both completely eager.

"I call going first!" Hecate shouted.

"You went first last time, it's my turn!" Pyce playfully shoved their brother back and approached the booth.

Her hair was already braided, which would keep it out of the way, and after a moment of consideration she removed her bracelets and put them in her pocket before she nodded at the carny to release the Snitches. After a few minutes of frantically snatching tiny fluttering golden balls from the air, Dee frowned down at the strips of tickets in her hand with a certain amount of skepticism. She'd done alright but... how had this seemed so much easier when she'd been sitting on Aly's broom the other day? Huffing slightly, she folded them up, and whistled cheekily at Madhup when he passed her for his own turn. Smiling, she leaned against the wall of the booth to watch Mad. "Behind you!" she called unhelpfully, then "No, more to the left! No, right."

She was grinning by the time he was done, both highly entertained and mildly appeased by the fact that despite her own average performance, she'd still done slightly better than Mad. Slipping her hand back into his, Dee began steering them to another game. She had seen him look at the shiny sword earlier when they'd walked past, and immediately added it to her plans, even though she didn't expect to win many tickets on that one. (But she'd also make him come to the Streeler Stealer stall after this.) "So that explains why you're a Chaser, not a Seeker, I guess," she teased impishly, then snorted. "And also why I'm a racer instead of a Quidditch player. I bet Aly would have done better..." She tugged him into the queue for Godric's Might, frowning slightly. "Why isn't there a racing themed game, anyway? Like... flying full speed through thorny branches. Or... dodging the giant squid." The teasing glint in her eyes with the last words was hard to miss.

The carny refused to answer Aly's question about if the Streeler shells were real - Well, that's comforting and totally trustworthy - and simply began to spin them in front of the young Ravenclaw's eyes. Aly's keen gaze followed the one that said eighty tickets - the highest of them all, as she was quite prone to reaching for the stars - around and around as it was swapped and spun and "stolen", as was the game, until it finally skidded to a stop on the far right; she pointed at the rightmost shell with vigor. "That one," she declared, feeling most confident, which was only emboldened by the fact that when the carny removed the shell eighty tickets were beneath. "Ha!" the teenager said, victoriously, to no one in particular as she scooped up the shells and gave the carny a toothy, triumphant grin. "All right, then. Carry on with your... shell-stealing."

Dee and Madhup seemed to have fared well, but not quite so well as Aly, at whichever booth they'd picked; as the lovebirds wandered off to another booth, so enamored with each other that they might have been able to have succumbed to the effects of Lovebird to Love Note if Aly had been so inclined to cast a Transfiguration spell on them right here in public, the curly-haired brunette waved her tickets at Dee in a sort of look what I got! motion crossed with a bit of got more than you! A bit of friendly competition fostered between best mates - and, she supposed, one best mate's boyfriend - was never off the table nor was it ever particularly a bad thing. Not when those friends were as contentious at sport-winning as Dealla Prince and Alyssa Salinger, anyway.

The games had really picked up now and there were plenty of students, mostly younger ones, vying for their chance at the Streeler Stealer booth as well as plenty of others; Aly glanced around for an emptier one, perhaps one no one had tried yet or that was more uncrowded than the rest. She'd fared well at that previous game; surely she'd do well at this one, too? Due to the Ravenclaw's innate love for all things astronomy and Ravenclaw, she found herself drawn to what appeared to be attempts at throwing a giant ringed diadem onto the head of her House's stony founder, all surrounded by constellations that glimmered almost as brightly as those in the night sky. With a grin, Aly placed herself into the line for the Diadem Toss, excitement and courage raging through her veins.

With his dehydration staved off for the moment, Malcolm was in the process of rolling off when he was pleasantly surprised when a string of 32 tickets found its way into his hand. He glanced at the person manning the booth, before it finally dawned on him that this had been a game all along that he'd accidentally entered, not simply a refreshment stand. Still, accidentally doing passably at a game you didn't know you were actually playing wasn't bad in the grand scheme of things. Sliding the winnings into his pocket, he made his way down the line of games, looking for one that he might be at least halfway decent at.

Eventually, his eyes landed on a pretty booth that glimmered like it had been stolen straight out of the night sky. Always having been a fan of stars, he made his way over to it. It wasn't the most popular of booths by the looks of things, but there was one older girl there giving it a go, at least. He waited patiently but offered her a quiet but friendly, "Best o' luck ta ya." to her as she was about to take her turn. Once she's finished, he found his way forward and took the offered diadem, trying to figure out a good angle to throw it at to get it to nestle properly on the statue's head. "Ya don't suppose they made the head a wee bit wider than the diadem, do ya?" He asked the girl who'd gone before him as she collects her tickets, "Heard that's somethin' muggle carnival games do from time ta time." He muses, before finally giving the diadem a hopeful toss.

Nick had been walking in circles for what felt like ages, cursed be his indecision. Because of that problem, he hadn't played a single game yet and he had already been around the carnival games for almost a hour!

That needed to change before he lost his chance to get some prizes all together, so for that he had to stop on his tracks.

"Ok ok. I need to pick something now." He grumbled to himself out loud, then started slowly spinning in circles until he could land on something he wanted to try.

His first spin stopped at Chalice Choice, and Nick grimaced. Drinking something and getting tickets out of it sounded... Easy? Perhaps way too easy for him, it was a game of luck yeah, but he wanted something a bit more challenging on his first game. Perhaps Chalice Choice should be his next one afterwards, or when he decided he needed a drink instead.

Another quick spin around and he finally stopped on something that sounded more challenging. Snitch Snatch. Now that was challenging. Capturing the most amount of Snitches as he could in order to get more points.

"Now... Now That sounds fun." He grinned, sprinting towards it with more and enough motivation to get as many tickets as he could.

Setting the stained cauldron down with a clang, Rafael reached for the spotless array of tickets, 51 in total. These tokens soon met the boy's vice-like grip as he shoved them deftly into his pocket, seething as he stalked away from the booth. Out of the 80 he could have gotten, Rafael had let 29 slip out of his grasp. He should have done better. The Potion Plop Panic was admittedly not as simple as one would have presumed. While he had managed to escape the unpleasant sight of neon colours smudging his polo, Rafael was aware of the mess he had made. After the final potion had been dropped, what had once been a clear arena stood as a flamboyant mess. The ground was splattered with liquid that seeped and ran along the cracked lines of concrete.

Rafael stopped wandering to bend down and speculate on his shoes. A single grain of green. Deftly, he swiftly fished out a napkin and dabbed the smudge away till it was completely spotless. He frowned, nevertheless. It would need to be meticulously polished back at the tent. He would begin by dusting any minuscule debris off using the horsehair brush, should he have brought it along. Check the soles, the welts and possibly the laces too...

To restore leather to its suppleness, Rafael would have to scrounge for a cleaning cloth to apply a small amount of cream polish to. Soft, slow circular motions before buffing with a second brush. Lastly, a wax layer of oxblood. The toe cap and heel would be treated with meticulous care for a mirror finish. The task was to be treated as though one were sharpening a broadhead.

Straightening up from his crouch, the Young Kraus pulled the fabric of his clothes taut and glanced towards the Snitch Snatch booth that had once drawn a boisterous crowd. Earlier, it had been too congested--bodies clustered together, jostling and gawking like magpies at a mirror. The enclosed room was filled with gleaming golden snitches darting wildly. The idea of catching as many as possible before time ran out teased the edges of Rafael’s competitive spirit. Thus, he made his way forward. A large netted enclosure rose before him, gold-glinting blurs whizzing through the air within. Rafael thought it was a bit much. Still, the premise intrigued him. "Fancy a go, lad?" the attendant asked. Rafael made to nod when he felt a sudden pressure on the top of his foot.

It had not been excruciating, but the mere contact was enough to cause him to stop short.

A girl had stepped on him. His leather.

She looked oddly familiar. "Oh, I'm sorry! I hope you're not hurt!" Wide eyes, turquoise blue with a distinct hue. Rafael’s lips parted, then closed again. He glanced down at his shoe, then slowly back at her. There was no visible damage, but there was now a faint scuff near the toe. Rafael whiffed a short intake of breath before giving the girl a single, incredulous stare.

“I shall survive,” he forced himself to say. “Though my shoe may bear the trauma longer than I will.” Rafael's fingers twitched. The scrape, however minute, would take another hour out of his day. Wonderful. He shifted back, giving her the space to move off his foot without a word despite the teeming impatience digging into his chest.

He glanced towards the entrance of the stall, then back. She looked clumsy. Rafael almost doubted her understanding of the mechanics of the game. He smoothed down his hair, his gaze cool. People really ought to watch where they were going.

Having broken away from her new friends from her tent that morning, not wanting to interrupt their little love story that was going on and under the guise that she and Alphonse would have their night time talk about their original meeting Siobhan had found Prat wandering aimlessly and joined him on his adventures through camp. Alphonse was very nice but he was very enamoured with Geneviève and Siobhan was not the one to go ahead and interrupt. From one to another, they had an understanding over not stealing each others essentials and that they both partook in outside activities. It was a good start to camp so far.

Siobhan shrugged at Prat's question over whether the riggory of muggle carnivals was the same as whatever was occuring during the summer camp. They had wandered over to a game intended to challenge the players strength and Prat had dragged them over to the game. Dragged in the sense, that he had helped guide her through the crowd of students and adults who were searching for something fun and interesting to fill the day with. She liked that he allowed her to wander without hesitation and only kept her from walking into things.

If one didn't know better they would assume there was a fondness between the two but truthfully it was probably just Prat's upbringing requiring that he kept whoever it was he was escorting from trouble.

"I guess they're similar to scams. But I wouldn't know. My family only ever went to fairs to enter one of our cows into a contest. We would use whatever prize money we had to ride some amusement rides. The mechanical part. My father says that no game is worth losing money over." She explained as Prat mentioned wanting to go to a specific game and stop her wandering. They stood in line and she squinted as she looked at his outfit for the first time since they had met up at the entrance.

"You're dressed as if you're attending a business meeting. We're at a carnival." She stated as if he too had turned blind and was unaware of what it was he was wearing. It was a warm heat but not overwhelmingly so. Though despite this, she had opted for a loose fitting patterned summer willow green summer dress. She had also opted for a set of green vines and lotus flowers facepainted on her face just for a bit of festive fun. Prat however looked as out of place as he could get.

Either way, she watched as he opted for the game of "Godric's Might" which was similar to the story of the "Sword in the Stone." She liked that movie when she watched it, and the myth behind the game was a very astute one to assign after the founder of Gryffindor.

As Prat stepped up to the anvil where the sword in the stone lay waiting for whomever might in all fairness and with all their might, try to win as many tickets as they could from the event. Prat took a great stance and managed to achieve a good grip on the sword's handle before pulling it up enough to gain 50 tickets. She along with the crowd watching had clapped politely but she decided to go ahead and throw her hat in the ring for the game.

"I don't think I'm any descendent but I think I'd like to try. Could you hold this?" She said as she handed him the cotton candy bites she had. From her little side bag, she wiped her hands off with some hand sanitizer. To unstickify them and not leave any residue on the handle. She stood before the anvil and gently stretched from side to side so as not to hurt herself. If she was blind and had a pulled muscle, then she might as well leave the carnival.

"Here we go." She smiled as she gave herself a good grip on the handle and pulled.

She stepped up to the anvil.

Summer Camp 2025 Carnival Games Open
Lucille certainly didn't hang on as long as she'd hoped. Soon, she found herself flying off, landing on the soft ground with a quiet THUD. Sure enough, the wizard basilisk had been more difficult for her to hang on to than the Muggle mechanical bull. Lucille didn't seem fazed, though, laughing as she sat up. Seeing the other students waiting for a turn, she got up quickly, dusting herself off, not wanting to delay the other students. "It seems you're more of a challenge than I bargained for," she said to the basilisk, before quickly exiting the game.

The young girl's enthusiasm seemed undisturbed, as she stepped back out onto the grass, hands on her hips and legs spread apart in a wide stance, quite confident as she attempted to try another game. She scanned the grounds, looking for her next victim, or perhaps, the next game that would make a victim of her.

Her eyes landed on a game where a student was moving back and forth, cauldron in hand and eyes towards the sky, watching as some bright liquids were dropped and trying to catch them in the cauldron. Just what she needed to warm up, she thought, and went to the booth, a little skip in her step.

Lucille didn't have high expectations for this one. She had good reflexes, but she didn't expect them to assist her much in this. In fact, she half expected herself to freeze or start laughing at her first mess-up, rendering her unable to regain her focus and drop half the potions.

Afternoon of Aug. 28th, 2025 | Carnival Games, London Quidditch Stadium

The sun was high and beaming down upon the London Quidditch stadium, but the heat was barely a concern to the Toussaint boy accustomed to the near-constant and brutal tropical climate of Haiti.

Frequent and gentle gales of the cool August winds were welcomed, causing enchanted flagpoles and multi-hued pennants to applaud the carnival-goers' wins and mock their losses.

A chuckle slipped from Alphonse's lips as both he and Geneviève bobbed and weaved through throngs of passing children darting between booths with wads of tickets clutched in hand. It seemed that many had taken the carnival thing seriously, but the boy had grown wary of true wizarding carnivals upon knowing how easy it was to scam and rig games with a touch of magic. Considering the summer camp was non-profit, Alphonse truly hoped that wasn't the case.

With his hand intertwined with hers, the boy had encouraged his girlfriend to lead them so as not to lose the short-heighted girl through the growing sea of campers. A steady gaze swept across several booths to find a game of interest or seek his little brother, cousin, or any of his friends from Castelobruxo and Ilvermorny. Nobody of interest popped out to him besides his new friend and tent-mate, Siobhan, who stood at a game with another individual Alphonse didn't recognize.

The Hogwarts-native was particularly interesting with overlapping ideas of recreation, and a nightly routine of holding 'fire safety meetings' and talking about both everything and nothing, all at once. He was grateful the Gryffindor girl had taken no offense at his frequent outings with Geneviève, and in turn, made good on checking in on the redhead "brunette" during the daytime to not appear callous. Alphonse would keep a mental note of Siobhan's location and check in later that evening once the carnival games came to a close.

Geneviève guided him to a game comically titled 'Whack-A-Gnome' and stood beside her as they prepared to compete against one another for the better score: "You're on."

Let the games begin.

Summer camp had turned out to be a lot of work, running the booth and all. But there was, thankfully, time for fun as Maisie made her way over to the carnival games (albeit a bit late). The weather was warm, but that didn't put her off in the slightest.

As she approached, she read over the different options, but eventually settled on Snitch Snatch. She'd always had an interest in Quidditch and watching Avis on the team only kept her more in the loop on matches and the like. But the times she'd tried the game, she'd always been a Keeper, which suited her well enough, but why not try something new?

So, she approached the room and opened the door. Inside were more snitches than she'd dared ever count. Dozens, and dozens. The room itself looked like a pitch, unassuming. Pursing her lips and narrowing her eyes, she knew she could catch a snitch. It couldn't be that hard, could it?

Putting her wand away, she sunk her shoes into the ground, trying to get some good footing because jumping up to catch a snitch was probably inevitable. And then, she just looked up and tried to lock onto one. They all looked the same, but she figured if she could follow one and keep it in her line of sight, that was a start.
