Peter noticed the little flush blooming across Aurélie’s cheeks and it reminded him when he was just blushing moments ago. Her sheepish smile made Peter smile too. It reminded him of all the times he snuck around the careful rules his parents had set for him, when he was younger and he had gave his parents that sheepish smile. It was the sheepish smile that he smiled when he knew he had been caught.

Aurélie’s ‘silly’ only made Peter’s dumb grin grow bigger. His neck hair stops on end, but not in a bad way. A good way. A good way in enjoyable excitement. “What I thought. You keep teasing me, then, Aurélie. I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before I catch up on your witty wordplay and come with my own!” He gave Aurélie another teasing grin.

Peter nodded as Aurélie told him that she could picture it too. He closed his eyes, and took Aurélie, her playful smirk, her soft brown hair that made him think of chocolate, her blue-grey eyes that make him think of a light stormy day, and everything about her, and a little furry animal, imagining it all. And, surprisingly, he was there too, with a little dove, flapping it’s majestic wings, by his side. He didn’t know why as he just wanted to picture Aurélie and her future pet but it still made him happy. Peter opened his eyes, and smiled again.

It must had been faith to have meet Aurélie.

Then Aurélie said that she had to go. Peter’s smile faded instantly. He wondered it was because of him. But he nodded, knowing (hoping) that Aurélie wouldn’t go unless it was important to her. “Yeah, of course. I assume you’d wanna change clothes and relax after that huge duel. I know I already said this but awesome job, today. Your dueling is amazing. Keep practicing, and you’ll get better!” Then he smiled at her.

Aurélie liked that Peter didn't find her harmless comments to be offense. They weren't meant to be. But she knew from experience that not everyone understood that. Some people, some people believed that she was trying to belittle them, something that she would never, ever try to do. But Peter? His grin only grew in its size and he responded with the same amount of humour in his voice.

"Do try, Peter!" She responded to his little teasing smile with one of her own.

There was a small moment of silence between them, and Aurélie did not feel the urgent need to fill it. Many times, when the silence was awkward, she did feel that need. She felt the need to blurt something out, and many times it was something stupid. But with Peter, she felt comfortable, and this silence was perfectly comfortable as well. She wondered what was going through the boy's head. Was he thinking about their conversation like she was? Was he thinking of her at all? Or was he thinking about his tentmates and the summer camp? Or maybe of the looming figure that was school which was coming upon them? Aurélie mentally shook herself. Perhaps she was overthinking this whole thing.


When Peter spoke again, his smile had faded and Aurélie wanted to facepalm. It was because of her. That one little sad look, it was her fault, and she wanted to repent for it already. She gave him one of her huge Peter-smiles, trying her hardest to make up for it. "I do, but I'm also really tired from the duel-- otherwise I could stay here and talk to you forever!" It was true, she definitely could've. "Well, I'll see you later Peter!"
