Right out the gate, Atlas wasted no time on dawdling or admiring the view from up on her broom. The tenured Hufflepuff keeper immediately beelined it for Elena as opposed to remaining at the Badgers' hoops, elbowing the Gryffindor seeker as she did her darnedest to get in Elena's way. The sharp piercing tone of a whistle could be heard, and a voice boomed across the pitch, "Penalty lap for Atlas Reid for excessive use of elbows!"

In the center of the pitch, on the other hand, Howard was giving a masterclass in Quaffle-handling. The experienced Chaser (and oldest player on the pitch, for that matter), backed up by his teammate Alma, seemed to dance through the air on his broom with the Quaffle in his hand. However, it wouldn't be a completely dominating performance, as the young Gryffindor chaser Finnegan had a clean possession of his own, helped by Haley's presence keeping Alma and Howard largely at bay as he tossed it in through Hufflepuff's unguarded hoops. Ashleigh also had her moment to shine as she sure-handedly caught one of Howard's scoring attempts, keeping him from a perfect scoring record for the match. "Hufflepuff at 30 points, all three goals by White, and Gryffindor at 10, goal by Conner!" the voice boomed. "And a stunning save by Hazelwood."

Flying all by his lonesome high above his teammates, Ethen scanned the pitch with a scrutinizing gaze. As one of the most tenured Seekers in the school, this was his bread and butter: the pressure of finding the snitch quickly, the thrill of the chase, the rush of adrenaline through your veins. And then he blinked, and then there it was. Right in front of his face. Gotcha!

Far below the seekers' perch from above, carnage and blood wreaked havoc amongst the players in the form of the dreaded bludgers as all four beater raced toward one of the free bludgers. Pax raised their bat with confidence, striking the bludger so that it not only sent Alma tumbling off her broom, but it ricocheted over to Ethen to shake him up a bit as well. Avery and Tesla would combine forces, fusion dance style, to send the very same bludger careening back toward Pax, sending them tumbling off their broom. The bludger ricocheted off to slam into Ethan, the other Gryffindor co-captain and beater, sending him off his broom as well, but not before he sent the second bludger right at Tesla. The force of the blow knocked the Hufflepuff beater clean off her broom, ricocheting off toward Ethen (the Hufflepuff seeker, not the unconscious Gryffindor). The second bludger blow proved to be a bit too much for him, and Ethen also would fall to the ground, unconscious.

Madison was nervous. This was her first ever Quidditch game for Hufflepuff, and since three Hufflepuff players had gone down in the first round of play, it meant that she would have to go on. There was a chance she could get knocked off or worse, but hopefully all the years of training she had behind her, thanks to her dad who used to play nationally for England, would come in handy. Come on Madi, now's your time to do put into practice all that dad has taught you. I can do this Madison thought to herself, shaking any negative thoughts out of her head. She took a deep breath, drank some water and mounted her broom. Madison's broom wasn't fancy but it was fast and tough like Madi. Madi held her broom steady as she got into position near Howard White, the Hufflepuff Captain, Madi also scanned the crowd, spotting her friends Alyssea, Helena, Landon and Remedy cheering for her. She smiled, before calming herself down and getting ready to play the game she loves, Quidditch.

As Daphne watched Round 1 of the game, she quickly got frustrated and pouted. "Whaaat? Penalty lap for excessive use of elbows..not fair." She huffed before moving her attention to the chasers and grinning when Hufflepuff scored. "Haha, that's right!" However, her emotions changed into one of panic once more from the sight of Alma and Tesla being thrown off their brooms followed by...Ethen! "Sweet cheese and crackers..." She hadn't expected for this to happen so soon...

They were in the lead but at what cost?

Daphne took in a deep breath and stretched her muscles for a moment before standing up and grabbing her broom while looking at the benched beater @Sage Willows. "It'll be alright...are you ready?" She asked, trying to use an encouraging tone.

Sidling up alongside her dormmate, Avery shares a brief smirk with Tes as the game kicks off. Immediately singling out one of the bludgers roaming the pitch, she teams up with her friend to wreck coordinated havoc on the Gryffindor beaters with a single well placed shot. The satisfaction is, as it tends to be with Quidditch, short lived. All she can do is watch with a pit in her stomach as Ethen, Alma and Tesla are dropped from the sky in short order. Post-game visit to hospital-bound teammates was an unfortunately common occurrence, though that seemed to be the nature of the game. At least in this instance there was already preemptive vengeance dished out.

The first game of the year was with Gryffindor and it would be fascinating how their match would become. Roxette would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous, but she was. She might had been in her second year as a chaser yet now she is a first string instead second and on the bench. It was nerve wrecking as she walked with the rest of the team. She flew up into the air of the pitch. A bit higher than she might to. A clear sign of her excitement as she flew to where the team meeting beforehand told her. The match was brutal like always. Tesla and Alma were down for the count on just the first minutes of the game. It meant Madi and Sage were in play and she hoped it didn't go like her own first in field match. She missed seeing Ethan go down as a penalty for their keeper rung yet she saw a new player in play when she looked to count who was left. This didn't look good, but she had hopes that all was well as she went into play what was discussed earlier with the team.

Howard flew through the air at top speed with his little buddy Alma riding his coattails. He would take the lead this round as he battled for the Quaffle and although he was a bit frustrated that he lost one of the grabs to Finnegan and one of his shots was blocked by Ashleigh, he had to admit the younger students were playing quite well. Perhaps after the match he would congratulate them, but for now he had to remain focused.

The familiar crack of a bat rung out through the air and Howard couldn't help but to smile as Avery and Tesla joined forces for one of the mightiest Bludgers he had seen in quite some time. Two opposing flyers would fall in its wake, but Gryffindor would not go down without a fight. His heart sank as Alma, Tesla and Ethen all fell from their brooms. As much as they had gained, they had lost even more. Can they recover? Howard gripped his broom tight and got right back into the action.

"Hey Tesla! Yeah, it's great to play against you! Good luck!" said the girl, then she started focusing. Hannah had trained a lot for this, especially their match against Hufflepuff.

She continued flying around, and observing, she couldn't see the golden snitch, but that was Elena's job, well she was supposed to look for it, anyway. Hannah had a good feeling about the match, especially because she knew her team had been training a lot.

The game was now 10 x 30, she sighted, the match had just started, so of course they could and would catch up, she continued flying around and doing what she was supposed to.

Flashes of last year's game against Hufflepuff passed before his mind's eye. That game had been a bloodbath, despite the cuddly reputation of the badgers, and this one was shaping up to be more of the same. The sight of both Pax and Ethan plummeting helplessly toward the ground made him wince, though they took down three badgers with them, including poor Alma. He made a mental note to visit the sweet girl, his best friend, in the hospital wing. Perhaps he was about to be sent there by the Hufflepuff beaters, perhaps thet had someone else in mind. Regardless, the bigger threat was Howard White whose skill had been on display for all to see. He was damn quick, but not without flaws. Hazelwood proved her worth at the rings and he managed to outsmart Howard once by practically dive-bombing towards the Quaffle, affording him to gain the edge he needed to snag the ball before White could get to it. Still, it wasn't enough, and with both their beaters gone, things were looking grim. And what the hell was Elena doing? He almost wished Elsian had been up there instead, at least he'd be doing something!

Alex watched with wide eyes as the Hufflepuff team wasted no time in knocking not one, but both of the Gryffindor beaters off there brooms. Not to mention the fact they had the lead on them by twenty points. Alex berried his nerves and mounted his broom, ready as he will get to play.

Biting her nails to calm her nerves, she hoped that Gryffidnor would react soon.
Looking at his companions in the air, he noticed that they were also nervous and uncomfortable, Koko would have liked to talk to one of her companions on the bench but he was too embarrassed.
