Actually, maybe.. just maybe, he wasn't too bad at this. It wasn't that he did a superb job. No. If anything, it was only in the sub par category. But hey. It hit. Honestly his standard plummeted from having to do everything perfectly to just.. Hit. A little sad, but, at least he didn’t beat himself over things anymore. Yet.

Julian raised an eyebrow as spells began to fire again. It seemed the foreign team had, perhaps wisely, retreated to a more defensive strategy, with Akira focusing on putting out the blaze slowly spreading across his robes and Rodion taking a turn at supporting Akira (and, much to Julian's delight Milosh) with an impressive dual cast of Reparifors. Still, given Samantha's previous comment about them being babies and the boys' response, Julian suddenly worried that this defensive turn might lead to an escalation so he quickly jumped in.

"Let's not call each other names. No one's a baby, and everyone's doing the best they can." He frowned, suddenly uncomfortable with how categorical his assertion had been. He could hardly read their minds, right? "Well, I think."

Not everyone on the guest team had been acting defensively, though, with Milosh casting a quick Incendio Duo in the direction of Samantha. Unfortunately, the thick fog surrounding him and his opponent must've made it hard to aim, for the telltale flash of the spell was at least a foot wide of its intended target.

The Ravenclaw team, meanwhile, had been busy pressing the attack. Both Cassius and Eun-Ji cast identical bolts in the direction of Rodion and Akira, and while Rodion managed to get out of the way in time, Akira, still caught in a gust of wind, was not so lucky, and was hit with both spells in quick successtion. Milosh also failed to react quick enough to Samantha's Disarming Spell, and his wand was sent flying a few feet behind him. Not a good situation for the guest team.

He just couldnt manage to land a spell today. An exhale of frustration left his nose as the sparks fizzled from his wand once again only for his opponent to dodge, once again. To clarify, his spells were just fine, but his opponenets were better than anyone he'd ever faced. Usually they always had the upper hand when it came to duels. Perhaps they had been practicing since last time. Although if he remembered correctly, didn't they face Slytherin last year?

Shaking his head to snap himself back into the game, a sharp sting hit his hand, making his wand fly from his grip, scattering across the floor. His bronze gaze flashed to the figure whom he just tried to set aflame, seeing the spell had come from her wand tip. Of course. His eyes darted over to Akira who was barely concious at this point and Rodion whom was giving everything he had. This position they were in was not desireable at all.

Finally. A round came when she was given a break. Even so, it was not an easy fight and Rodion managed to avoid both hers and Cassius' flipendo. What a shame… Still, they both hit Akira so that was something. Even if he was no longer aflame, he was in a bad shape for sure. Looking at her captain, Eun-ji was pleased to see her spell hit as well. This meant Milosh wouldn't be a threat next round and if she got hit, at least it would be just two people aiming at her instead of three. She could handle two.

Overall, things were looking okay for her team right now but Eun-ji wouldn’t allow herself to relax. Duels tended to take a turn for the worse real fast so she always made sure to stay vigilant. This time would be no different.

The foreign student didn't seem really happy that she had set him on fire, how surprising. Her grin was unaffected by his comment. On the contrary, it made her feel more confident. "I am just making you hotter," she commented. Samantha wasn't sure how well the boy's English was and whether he understood the joke, but she still thought it was great. When Julian showed his disapproval about the babies comment, the brunette rolled her eyes. Bantering was normal in duels, at least, to Samantha it was. During her first duel, comments about the other team had been thrown around almost as much as the actual spells.

After disarming the oldest student, the girl noticed, much to her disappointment that Akira had extinguished the flames. With a clearly fake sad expression, she turned to the boy. "You don't want to be hot?" she asked him dramatically. As she took a good look at the boy, she noticed how exhausted he seemed. Wondering how long the boy would be able to stay alive, she prepared herself for the next spell she was going to cast.

"Flipendo!"

The Ravenclaw felt a deep satisfaction whenever a cast spell successfully split and spread into two parts. He had worked hard and sacrificed many days practicing the technique and to see that hard work pay off brought a smile to his face. Despite only one streak of light hitting its intended target, he was satisfied. He was still standing and itching to continue the contest.

"You don’t want to be hot?" He heard Samantha say to Akira as the boy doused the flames that had been afflicting him. Grinning cheekily, he gave an upnod to his teammate and threw in a quick hairtoss for good measure. "Worry not, Sam. I will just be hot on his behalf." He joked as he raised his wand again, prepared for whatever was to come next.

Cassius had gained a good measure of confidence since his early years at Hogwarts. The shy, scrawny boy had matured quite a bit in that time. He was still shy, to a degree, but far from being the social recluse he once was. His fifth year was going to be different from those past, he decided. It would be his best year yet.

Julian breathed a deep sigh as the action continued with his words unheeded--at least the banter across teams had moved from calling each other names to debating whether people were hot. The guest team was not in the best shape, with Milosh relegated to searching for his wand amid the chaos and Akira barely standing. Perhaps they were taking a moment to recoup, for neither Rodion nor Akira made an attempt to cast.

It gave the Ravenclaw team the opening they needed. Cassius chose to cast a Wind Jinx at his opponents, engulfing both Rodion and Akira in a strong gust. And if that wasn't enough, Eun-Ji and Samantha both followed it with a Knockback Jinx in the direction of Akira. Samantha's did not quite make it there, veering off course towards the otherwise engaged Milosh and narrowly missing, but Eun-Ji's landed, and it seemed Akira could take no more for--after falling backwards from the impact, he didn't get up again.

With a grimace, Julian called the duel to a halt so he could be helped to the Hospital Wing.

It was a risky move. His eyes darted to where his wand lay then back to his team and the opponents. He left himself vulnerable when going to retrieve his wand and hos teammates with one less deffense. Quickly, he did what had to be done. Locating his wand, he'd dnake his hand down, grasping it.

Then everything snapped. A spell flew over his head, causing him to look back up in the direction of the opposing team, eyes narrowed. Then a thump. That was never a good sign. He'd whirl, only to find Akira's body had given out, slumping to the floor. A silent string of curse words exited the Durmstrang boy's lips. Perhaps Rodion got distracted as well, as he was then hit by a spell. It absolutely fueled the boy's anger at the explicit targetting of the younger players. Milosh knew what had to be done, he just hoped Lady Luck would glimpse his was.
