As he finished his incantation he became suddenly aware of how distracted he’s been for a moment. If it wasn’t for his familiarity with ventus he probably wouldn’t have been able to cast it. It was a mistake that he should not make again. A subtle nudge from his Wand that he was walking on thin ice. He needed to quickly shuffle his way back onto solid footing, before Mr. Wand grew impatient, or worse, disappointed.

Regardless of his casting abilities though, he hadn’t let his aim suffer. Wind torrented around the blindfolded girl. And when he could see her clearly again it seemed the blindfold had stayed. He needed to learn how to make those knot more often.

This was not good, at all. One second he was attacked by a wind, the next second he was burning. And it hurt his ego. He thought he was much better than before, apparently not so much. Meanwhile Eloise was struggling to put her blindfold aside, what an amazing duel. The white haired boy and the short haired gryffindor were good. Too good. He needed to get rid of them as soon as possible before they would end him first.

Eloise held her wand between two fingers as she desperately tried to undo her blindfold. She was panicking more and more, she couldn't see what was happening and she kept her eyes open by reflex. She couldn't see what was happening, but she felt the gust of wind that made her recoil, and then she felt a strong heat. She had heard an "Incendio". Eloise was on fire.
— I think you'd be able to hit us better if you took off that blindfold!
— Oh mais va te faire royalement foutre Sophia ! Oh fuck off Sophia!
Eloise had spoken in French, and she didn't know if Sophia would understand. She didn't know if Sophia would hear her either. But Eloise needed to say it.

This was quickly becoming a game of Target the Guest Team, and while that was probably just circumstance-driven, Eloise being the most appealing target with her present lack of vision, one might wonder if there was something about pitting two teams from the same school against one international team. Whatever the case, Eloise continued to take serious hits, try as she might to use her other senses to maneuver out of the way. Almost nothing was going right for the guest pair: Pericles took a break from splitting spells to grant Eloise all of his attention in the form of a hard-hitting Flipendo, Galton caught her in another vortex of wind just as the last was fading (at least Rodion had avoided the second stream), and they still couldn't get rid of the blindfold, even with Rodion taking a crack at it.

Kim's spell sputtering out was a small mercy. Though unlikely to be the center of most of the audience's attention, it was fairly impressive what the younger duellist managed to pull off; learning to stamp down magic that threatened to blow up in your face took skill. It was a failed spell, but it could have been much worse.

For the first time this match, Sophia would take up her wand and demonstrate her magic. The accuracy of her cast was immediately something notable, some combination of innate talent and perhaps being an unexpected attacker after dodging the past few rounds. On the flip side, Rodion managing to avoid the brunt of a spell for the second time today was certainly a sight to see--he really had a way of twisting away from those spells that were just too well-aimed to fully escape from. Maybe he was slippery enough to make it a while by himself if needed, because Eloise was starting to not look too good.

Though his pulse was pounding, Pericles was riding a steady flow of confidence. His hard work had paid off, each spell found its mark thus far. In the first round, it seemed he had contemplated divvying up damage between both opposing teams, though that changed the second both Guest participants took aim at his partner. Their retaliation had been fast and fierce. It didn't hurt that the Gryffindor group was also intent on taking out the foreign school, a fact that had Peri peering their way with the expression of an intended, albeit temporary truce. Possibly. It could be a clever farce.

"Nonsense," was the way he humbly brushed off Sophia's compliment, only to visibly brighten when her spell hit home. A quick toothy smile darted her way while he called "Clean shot!" Seeing her jump in emboldened him. Before they kicked off the match, he had worried the new duellist would be overwhelmed by the tournament serving as her first official match. Now he was feeling rather proud. Sophia kept her head in spite of the pain and pressure.

Sophia's head was killing her now, and the dizziness was getting worse, but she was too happy to care. She'd survived this long into her first duel, and that made her absolutely ecstatic. So ecstatic, in fact, that she finally built up a bit of courage to do something she'd as of yet been to cowardly to consider.

She was going to cast a spell!

But which one? She didn't want to hurt anyone, which was probably a horrible way of looking at the match, since knocking them out was the goal. She just wanted to hit them with her spells and survive long enough for her partner to set them all on fire and win for them. She remembered a spell from History of Magic, and her mind was set.

"Steleus!" she called out with a confidence she didn't expect, especially given the fuzziness of her mind and voice. To her astonishment, it seemed the spell landed just fine. She was thankful that she hadn't cast something more dangerous.

To her side, Peri smiled at her and congratulated her on the shot. She blushed, but returned the smile.

"Th-thanks," she said shyly.

Her attention was then caught by Kim, whose spell hadn't worked as well as he'd probably hoped. Nor as well as she'd hoped, since it seemed the two Hogwarts houses were ganging up on the foreign students. When had that been decided?

"You're cute when you're trying to concentrate!" she shouted to Kim, offering a subtle wink if he looked her way. She didn't know where the words came from, but between the spell she'd just cast successfully and her survival, she was on a roll, so she didn't have it in her to be embarrassed.

She had to force herself not to apologize as she heard Rodion sneezing, but that was easy enough given all else that had happened thus far.

Forget about winning, he was burning, just like last year. Not even him can lift up Eloise’s sneaky little blindfold, therefore it must’ve been actually really hard to do. Would he fail again just like last year? Then what was the purpose of the goblet for choosing him to be the champion of the hexwizard tournament? Was it just a mistake? Or was it simply because he was only the best of the Koldovstoretz? He felt weak.
