Surprise! PV Bailey's Surprise Birthday Party

The surprise went off without a hitch!

Sophia had never seen a surprise birthday party before, and Bailey's smile at the revelation was absolutely enchanting. Then again, her happiness was always contagious. It was psychologically impossible to see Bailey smiling without smiling back in return.

She walked over to Kim and Bailey after their hug, grinning mischievously as Kim whispered into his pockets. It was almost the same as when she would whisper to Amelia in her own robes, so she could only assume it was Puffie's doing. Had Kim actually brought the cutie out for once? Sophia would have to stop by and play with Puffie a bit.

First, she wanted to see the birthday girl, though!

"Happy birthday, Bails!" she said with a wide grin. "You look amazing! That shade of blue is beautiful on you!"

She took a moment to admire Bailey's adorable outfit before turning to Kim. She allowed her hand to go straight for Kim's pocket, pulling Puffie out with an adorable squeak.

"And how is Mr. Puffie today?" she asked Puffie in the way an adult would ask the same question to a baby. "You look wonderful today, too! Yes, you do!"

Oh, if only Amelia was here. She'd be great friends with Puffie.

Sophia settled for scratching Puffie's little head and giving him a little bit of petting. Ah, he was so cute.

Emma was surprised when a body bumped into her, causing her to stumble forward slightly. Turning to see who had bumped into her, Emma said quickly “It’s no problem.” Emma recognized the boy, although she was surprised that he recognized her. “That’s right! It’s Edmund, did I remember that correctly?” Emma was pleased to see a somewhat familiar face, it made her feel a bit more comfortable in the steadily growing crowd. Emma nodded as the person who she assumed had organized the event confirmed that she was in the right place. Not that it was likely there was another birthday party being set up in the same area, but still, that was the thought that would have run through her head if she hadn’t confirmed.

She stood somewhat awkwardly, grabbing the elbow of one arm with the other, unsure of how to start conversations, when the organizer (she should really learn their name) mentioned they were going to get Bailey. Looking around, she found a spot to hide behind a chair, not really well hidden but pretty sure she was hidden enough to not be easily seen from the castle. She wondered how they would know to jump out. It would have to be something obvious one would think. She was so distracted by her wayward thoughts that she didn’t clue in that the girl of the hour had arrived, jumping out and saying “Happy Birthday!” somewhat loudly in a panic.

Emma walked up closer to Bailey, saying somewhat quietly, “Happy birthday! I hope you have an awesome day!” Emma grinned at the birthday girl, moving away slightly to let others wish her a happy birthday.

Outfit

AngelFyre was rather amused that Simon was trying as inconspicuously as he could to hide, or rub in (not wipe off!), any evidence of just what they had spent the last couple of minutes doing. "Here. Look at me," she said, her eyes full of mirth as she reached for his chin, turning it first one way and then the other as he lowered his hand so she could look for any incriminating evidence. "You are good. No lipstick prints, I promise," and she chuckled."I will endeavor to be a good guest now and put my focus where it should be... on Bailey. No more compromising situations for you, Mr. Kincaid," she said, channeling her father just to tease him. "You will be safe henceforth. Girl Scout's honor!"

People were of course crowding over to Bailey, but AngelFyre smiled broadly as Simon took her hand and asked her to introduce him to Colin. She scanned the area and saw him not too far away, sitting with Quinn, whom she had met just a few days before in the Courtyard, also with Colin and Bailey. Simon did not have to ask her twice to make the introduction. He had heard so much about Colin and their escapade in the Corridors, so now it just made good sense he would want to put a face to the name. And Colin had heard even more about Simon... lots more... as Colin seemed to be the only person she knew who was actively interested in speaking with her about her relationship. Now he could get the male perspective from Simon with respect to his pursuit of his 'Eyes of Sky'. It was one of her fondest wishes that the two would, sooner rather than later, find fast friends in each other. Simon needed more male friends at Hogwarts quite honestly.

Gladly leading him over to Colin and Quinn, she cleared her throat upon their approach. "Hello, my kilted friend. And hello, Quinn. Nice to see you again. Pardon the interruption, but Colin, you left so quickly that neither Simon nor I got a chance to even say a word. So we are here to remedy that. Simon Kincaid, please meet Colin McCoire, and I might be wrong, but I believe you already know Quinn. In the likely event I am incorrect, I will err
on the side of caution and also present Quinn Root. Colin McCoire, Quinn, please meet Simon Kincaid."

Noah smiled at the sight of Bailey, but he really did have a game night promised to his twin brother, and his older more mischevious brother, Wally, and his younger... stupid... brother, Theodore. They were going to play Gobstones, with a combo of Truth or Dare. The youngest grouped up, and the eldests teamed up. Forming two different teams. Every week he asked if they could possibly split it up into three teams. The answer he always got was. "No. We have too few people to do that." Well, speak of the devil. There's seven people in one place playing a game. Sometimes its even stupid.

He ran up to Bailey, and gave her a hug, as tightly as he could, and ran off towards the Castle, the presents being left with her. "HAVE A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAILEY HOMEWORK THIEF GLADE! I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN SOON. I HAVE NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT."

Noah bellowed, and he turned around. He wished he could stay, but he didn't have time. He was already struggling. To Noah, leaving his friends were like his brains were being stabbed constantly. He felt like he was betraying them. But he felt it was worse to ditch your own brothers. The ones who always have your back, no matter how it seems.

Colin watched as most of the others greeted Bailey. He kept an eye on Kim, however. He was behaving --- oddly --- again. His focus turned towards the queer Gryffindor. Colin recalled when they'd first met Kim seemed to be very interested in him. Always observing, always calculating. Colin often thought he himself'd make a better Gryff and Kim would make the better Slytherin. He was a contradiction, Kim. In the middle of every social gathering, yet seemingly desperate to get away from people. He'd learned that some kids suffered from a variety of maladies, some magical, mostly mental & a few perhaps spiritual, that made them anxious around others --- and didn't Colin himself suffer from one such!

And that's what got Colin interested in observing Kim. Colin noticed that Kim was almost never interested in him when he behaved 'normally'. In class or the library or in the Great Hall it didn't matter. If Colin was doing ordinary things like eating or studying, Kim didn't pay any mind. But where his interest seemed to be most fully apprehended was when Colin was behaving, well, a little wolfishly! Leaping after chocofrogs, chasing mice, sniffing at food, shaking himself, Sophia's ear scratches. All of those seemed to be of the highest curiosity to Kim. And now, here was Kim exhibiting a similar behaviour --- nay! --- not similar, but identical! He was talking to his pockets! And Sophia seemed to be interested, as well. Also very curious --- she knew of Colin's peculiar malady. Did she also know of Kim's?

He got to wondering --- but a voice sounded nearby, and he smiled!

Colin turned at the sound of a voice nearby. AngelFyre's. She'd brought Simon with her, perhaps wishing to avoid the crowd around Bailey. She introduced him and Quinn to Simon and he bowed again. "It's nice to meet you for real, sir! Me and Quinn have been friends since the start of term just about --- she's a great adventurer and a good friend! We've managed to get all over the castle, either alone or together! And so is Fyre Angel!" He smiled. "Remember how we made the suits of armour dance around? That was really cool!"

He put his arm around Quinn's shoulder. "Quinn & Fyre Angel and Sophia & Pax over there are the best friends I've made here! Well ---" his eyes lit up brightly and a smile crept across his face as his voice spoke tenderly "--- except Eyes of Sky, of course! But she's --- that's different ---" his voice trailed off as he thought about the girl he hoped would become his sweetheart.

Before Edmund could start a proper conversation with Emma, the girl he had met during their first DADA lessons, to make things less awkward for both of them, the organizer - a tall Korean boy with cat-like features told them to hide. Ah. It was time for the birthday girl to arrive. He smiled to himself, thinking of how Bailey would react. From his experience, surprise parties only end in disaster. The çast time his father threw a party for his sister, the witch stormed out because she didn't want to celebrate. Well, he hoped Bailey would enjoy it.

The Gryffindor followed everyone else, shifting as he searched for a place good enough for him. He hid under a table, ducking, back hurting, careful with the drawing in his hands. It was one of the few moments where he hated being tall - he didn't fit, at all, and as much as he tried, his presence was noticeable to whoever approached the party area. A few minutes passed, and he started to complain, muttering under his breath when he heard Bailey's voice.

He jumped from where he was hiding, screaming, "Happy Birthday!" later than everyone else because he almost tripped and fell. Hopefully, no one saw that. Edmund waited for people to talk to Bailey, then approached the girl, looking around sheepishly, before offering her a smile, a pat on her shoulder, and, of course, his gift.

"Happy birthday, Bailey. Hope you have a great day - and eat a lot of cake, the cake looks great," He said, handing it to her, making sure the girl could see it. "I made this... It's you,"

After she gave Kim a hug and thanked him, people, her friends, started coming up to her.

First was Emily. She wished Bailey a happy birthday and then moving on to give other people a chance to come. She also said something about Bailey being lucky, but Emily was an odd duck, and Bailey did not think any more of it then.

Next was Sophia. She complemented bailey, saying that blue look great in her before moving to talk to Kim. Sophia was a fellow Ravenclaw and Bailey was surprised she had not heard a rumor of the party. Kim must have done an amazing job.

Bailey also heard a few people shout happy birthday, including Simon, AF, and Colin.

After that Emma came up to her and wished her a happy birthday. Bailey made sure to smile at her, and all of the others. She was extremely happy that this was happening, and that they were all there.

Next Noah ran up to her, gave her a huge hug and then left. Bailey hugged him and smiled as ran off, bellowing something about her being ‘Homework theif’. That was his nickname for her, and she had become rather attached to it.

After that Edmund came up to her, and handed her a drawing of her that he had clearly drawn. He wished her a happy birthday, and she thanked him, beaming. She and Edmund did not have the best relationship, but she was happy he was there.

She was sure her face would hurt from smiling so much and so widely, but it was worth it.

Lastly, Draven came up and kissed her hand. He was as well dressed as ever, and as sweet as ever. He handed her a package wrapped in silk and black ribbons, and she smiled and thanked him.

Walking over to the table, Bailey placed the drawing and the package down as she went to get a drink. She say down for a Moment, gathering her thoughts. She was so overwhelmingly happy, it was hard to process.

She sat there, waiting for someone to come speak with her or Kim to announce something. Bailey knew him well enough to know that he probably had something else planned.

She fingered the silk wrapping Dravens package. She was tempted to open it now, but decided to save it for later. Bailey slipped Edmund’s picture into the ribbon of Dravens parcel, and sipped her lemonade.
