The Three Snake Butlers
"No, Uncle Thaddeus really will."
He forced another laugh, although quieter than the last. And if observed well, just a tinge of nervousness could be found. He was more concerned with her sense of humor than her uncle. Was this a new way of joking? Where was he going to be put? The closet? History with ‘hide and seek’ had taught Hana that place could certainly be dark. A van maybe, then? Do wizards even use vans? He was fairly confident kidnapping was illegal here. If Hana was going to be kidnapped for breaking some item, perhaps Uncle Thaddeus would benefit from anger management therapy. What grown adult kidnaps kids/put them in closets if they break stuff in this day and age? If it was sooOoooOOo important why did he didn’t come here himself? Questions where Hana’s common sense urged him not to ask. It wouldn't be very princely of him to pry.
He was extra concerned when Erin mentioned how she would like a taste of those cupcakes. Being enchanted to love someone, especially Jack of all people- without much of a choice was dreadful! Not to mention the awkwardness that comes right after. Perhaps it’s her weird jokes again. He might as well get used to her matter of factly way of humoring them. At least he knew who was the joker in Jack and Erin’s previous relationship. “ I’d love to share with you a batch of mine next if the opportunity arises again if you’re still intrigued”. It was a genuine offer. It wouldn’t be so bad to have a personal tester for these sorts of future events. Having a spoiled snake as a companion means he will most likely not be able to escape future valentines events. And if they were the same as the last one then Hanako ought to be more careful at the expense of others if needed.
Not long after he not so subtly blamed the Professor for the horror night this poor screeching girl had, Erin had done it again with her odd sense of humor saying it was a bad idea. It was ultimately difficult to understand if she was serious or not since her warning sounded like a faulty self-defense alarm. She also said the Professor was a scary man, to which Hanako nodded a bit too eagerly at.
However, nodding was all he could do. Princely types certainly didn’t engage in trash-talking of others, much less ‘respectable’ professors. But golly did Hanako want to engage in it. He certainly was evil for digging into the private lives of his students just to make sure this detention could be as torturous as it is now. He wouldn’t put it past the professor to stalk them enough to know Hana was allergic to cats. Purposely putting this furry feline in all its demon glory to ruin Hanako spiritually, emotionally, and possibly physically. Scary man indeed.
In the next moment, Erin opted to interrogate Holmwood to see if the tea really was a love potion. Hanako guessed that if Holmwood was indeed under the effects of love potions, Erin would try to drink some herself since she showed interest in it earlier. Not that he was concerned for them. So long as Hana wouldn’t be the one cleaning up their mess, it would be nice to have other people embarrassing themselves and not just the butlers. That would be a nice uno-reverse sort of detention, yes.
Perhaps from being in character for far too long, Hanako seemed pleased to see Mirador taking charge of the screeching girl. Goodness knows Hanako wouldn’t be able to be as princely as he’d like to be if he were in charge of her. There was something…eerie about the aura that surrounded her. At least Strawberries here didn’t make chills go down his spine. She could possibly plummet him to the ground if she wanted to, but that was nothing special. Even a 7 year old had a chance against Hana if it was purely a fistfight.
For now, at least he could feel relaxed that most of the guests have settled down or had a host- er- butler- to take care of them. Please oh pleaseeee let them be the only guest in here today.

Action:
-trying to get used to Erin’s sense of humor, being oddly proud of Draven, hoping no new guest come by (whichisooccodeowordforplsjoin)
-focus: Winnie Harper
-Hana died from stress, and he is now an empty husk of nothingness with his body taken over by Tamaki Suoh . Due to this do note his usual sarcastic/singsongy/mocking tone is nowhere to be seen today.

"I mean, he's small but not that small--..." But damn, how heavy was this box when it was so tiny? Winnie really wanted to try and lift it now too, but she watched as it floated away from the pair.
Then Mr. Nicknames decided to smile at her. Ugh. A shiver ran up her spine. Why the hell was he making that sort of face at her? Did he not remember who she was? No, there was no way he didn't remember, unless he had lost his memories or sanity... The last one might have been true. "What?" She backed away from the boy, as if he were diseased. Her nose wrinkled in disgust. "The only way I'd enjoy this tea party is if you weren't here, and my name is WINNIE. You should know that. We met BEFORE."
Before she could open her mouth again, her room mate came through the door. "Aurora..." Her tears were not a new development. They had both been crying. If she had more energy she would have stormed to the Gryffindor dorms and given Nicholas McCowan a piece of her mind for what he did to her poor friend.
She would have stopped her from ranting, but honestly the girl made some valid points. A lot of what she said was how she was feeling about Matt. She couldn't help but state her agreement out loud, the volume of her voice growing as a new found rage boiled within her. "She's right, you know. Why are boys so afraid to talk about their feelings? It's like, one minute we're fine and dating and the next YOU'RE GHOSTING ME FOR MONTHS AND YOU SEND A HOWLER TO BREAK UP WITH ME IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE FECKING SCHOOL, SCREW YOU MATT--"
The two were grouping together, surely their combined screams of rage could raise the dead. May Merlin have pity on the ears of those in attendance. "Flash is sweet, and I don't know either of you--" She gestured towards Jack and Draven, "Well enough to make a sound judgement, but... YOU!" She turned back towards Hanako, her brow furrowing. "You're a JERK! I know it, so stop pretending that you don't know me or even LIKE me, because we dislike each other! I'm so TIRED of men pretending! Then what do they do? Weird shit like poison you and erase your memories because they're angry at you for dating their ex-boyfriend!"
"HERE! TAKE THE DAMN BAG! BUT IT WEIGHS MORE THAN TWO POUNDS SO YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CARRY IT!" She grabbed her satchel and flung it over her head in Hanako's direction, the force caused the flaps to open and the contents to either rain down onto the boy or the ground (up to you!) A plush goat, quills, an ink well, strawberry lip balm, cat treats, a gold locket, a pocket water colour set, paint brushes, her poetry notebook, a Jane Austen novel, and the wrinkled taped up howler Matt had sent her during the tea party were among the contents.

The Three Snake Butlers

Once Draven poured the tea, Flash would feel contentment alongside the rise of the steam. Sitting back, he would allow his shoulders to relax. Draven would remain vague in his explanation, unfortunately, only mentioning a 'misunderstanding.' Flash's eye would flicker to Burnett, who was indeed finally paying attention, so it wouldn't be too much of a disappointment. Before Flash could inquire further though, the room would be graced with the next few guests.
First, Winnie Harper arrived, which normally would have been a pleasure, but there was something very clearly wrong. He couldn't say he saw her often, especially with their age and house difference, but he had never seen her looking quite so... pantsed. Not only that, but she stormed in as though she had some kind of vendetta, bumping into Hanako and insulting him openly. Even though Flash was here to delight in Hanako's foibles, he couldn't help but feel bad seeing him be overtly harassed. Clearly something was wrong if Winnie felt the need to behave so rudely, even if Hanako was no angel. He was one of the most deceptive and cruel dormmates in Snape. If the bar wasn't so high in that regard, but the lot of them were in a hot competition for the most depraved.
However, Erin came to Hanako's defense before things got out of hand (for now,) and the party had its attention drawn away again when another girl entered looking clearly distraught, who Winnie called 'Aurora.' Flash knew her as a Quidditch player, but nothing otherwise. That was, until she opened her mouth and described her recent love affair in gruesome detail. He would be very unhappily reminded of his own first kiss, something he had blocked from his mind with the advent of fresh horror in his life. Cringing, Flash would take the opportunity to say absolutely nothing and take a sip of his tea. It was nice! Winnie seemed to know the girl well, so once the two reunited and Winnie joined in the public lamentation, Flash would turn his attention elsewhere. It certainly was a show.
For one thing, Burnett offered Erin a chair near Flash, enticed into bickering with Draven yet adding next to no real detail. He would say that Draven had caught him on fire, but it was not close to painting a picture. After all, misunderstandings and retaliation was not out of the ordinary for Burnett. Clearly all of the drama going on had been a fallout from the Valentine's party, which Burnett would further explain by talking about the Amorentia in the cupcakes. Hanako would (probably rightly) lay the blame on the professor in the room. Had it not been for Erin bantering further on the subject, that line of accusation might have barreled out of hand.
Draven was clearly uncomfortable around Burnett, and sought a quick exit to help Aurora settle in, parting with even stranger words about younger students. Flash's calm, unaffected face would finally scrunch, holding the tea up to his face for the warmth as he turned to look at Burnett's reaction. This was not a quiet tea party though, and Flash would be drawn back to the conversation at hand when Hanako insisted that Flash would be capable of verifying that the tea that was being served was not, itself, poisoned. He felt eyes on him, felt a pit in his stomach. Well, what if it was poison? The thought would make him feel ill, but luckily, the tea had not tasted strange, and would be useful to calm his nerves, so he took another drink.
Erin wouldn't wait, flooding him with prying questions about his frame of mind. He'd look down at her over his cup, but didn't presume any sarcastic answer would be worth saying. Instead he'd set the cup down gently, taking his time before answering. "I'm as sane as I can be. No sudden urges or loss of memory." Unlike Winnie and Erin, he remembered everything. Every horrible thing that happened to him. "Same boring Flash. Not that you remember."
Whether Erin had any comment on that, it wouldn't be long before the next 'thing' happened. The two Quidditch compatriots seemed to have been getting worse rather than better, as the screaming became loud enough to be physically painful. Then, she hefted her bag at Hanako, a bag no doubt filled with books. This was too far, it was violence, and clearly the aggression was getting out of hand. Flash's wand would be removed from its spot and an M would be drawn in the air for as fast as he could manage it. He didn't exactly have the best history with casting spells, but he reacted before he had time to doubt himself.
"Arresto Momentum." He would be aiming to minimize the danger, perhaps they could even still sit back and enjoy the tea. Perhaps he could spare her the regret once she had sobered from the misery.

The Three Snake Butlers
When Draven declared he wasn't there to fight with him, Jack rolled his eyes. Good! He wasn't there to fight with him, either; only to let the truth be known. Well, part of the truth, anyway. Interestingly enough, it seemed Draven was as determined as Jack was to keep the rest of that truth a secret from everyone else. That didn't mean he didn't enjoy teasing the underclassman, however.
He raised a brow at the comment about having an affinity for people younger than him, reddening slightly around his neck and ears. So much for not being there to fight with him. Before Jack could offer a retort, however, Draven had walked away. Fine, then; they were probably better off being apart anyway.
Meanwhile, Jack had to hand it to Hanako - whatever he was doing, he sure was dedicated to it. The way he handled even the obvious dislike and insults thrown at him with politeness, consideration, and patience was admirable. Jack wondered how long it would last before Hanako snapped. He hadn't at all expected the other boy to support his claim about the poisoned cupcakes, let alone use it to try to calm the hysterical girl (Aurora) down.
While Draven and Hanako tended to said hysterical girl, Jack turned back to Erin. He smiled awkwardly when she reminded him of her name. "I remember," he assured her. "I just thought 'Miss Ryan' would be more polite. But if you prefer 'Erin', then 'Erin' it is." He gestured to the teapot he held and began to pour its contents into a teacup in front of the older girl. "Would you care for some tea?" A smirk curved his lips. "Now that Flash has proclaimed it safe, that is."
He knelt beside her chair and tried to gently take her hand if she let him, placing something in it. It was hard and round and resembled a gambling chip of teal, purple, black, and copper.
"This is for you," he told her seriously, meeting her green eyes. "It's a favor token. I owe you for helping me rescue Flash and Shimada from Selim a while back. If you ever need a favor, just show me this and I'll remember." He wasn't sure the concept would make sense to her, but he felt obligated to try to explain it just the same. He still owed her a great deal and he intended to repay that debt any way he could - if she would let him, of course.
As he rose back to his feet, his attention was caught by a new source of disturbance. Winnie was going on an angry tirade about boys, carrying on from where the other miserable girl had left off. If what she said was true, he felt sorry for her. Could the 'Matt' she was referring to possibly be Mathias Pride? It seemed likely considering what Jack knew of the guy.
"Please excuse me," Jack said to Erin.
It wasn't until Winnie gestured to Draven and him that Jack realized something was amiss with her. She didn't know him? But how could she not? He frowned, wondering if perhaps she was just pretending not to know him. But as he continued to listen to her scream at Hanako, some things she said began to make him wonder. 'Weird shit like poison you and erase your memories'? Was that what she had honestly been through?
"Whoa! Winnie, take it easy!" he cried, setting down his teapot and putting his hands up in a plea for her to calm down. Jack was grateful when Flash acted quickly, casting a spell that none of the student butlers could due to their relinquished wands. "I'm Jack! Jack Burnett. We were fr-" He hesitated and reconsidered. "We got along well together. We met at last year's Blossom Ball. If your memories were erased, that may be why you forgot about me, but I promise we were on good terms."
He tried to get her to sit, gently herding her toward a chair. "Listen. Men and women really aren't so different. It's individuals who vary. I'm really sorry if this Matt guy caused you such misery, but not all guys are like that. Besides, if you let him continue to hurt you now, even when he's not here, isn't that letting him get the better of you?"

Even when she was trying to be polite, she had a way of making people uncomfortable. There was something about warning someone that their uncle would nail their man-parts to the ceiling if they pissed them off that made people uncomfortable. That characteristic uneasy chuckle before he moved on to someone, anyone or thing else.@Flash Holmwood, @Winnie Harper, @Hanako Tone, @Jack Burnett
Shame about the cupcakes, she wondered what 'love' felt like. She had no experience with the emotion, not really. She was well-aware that 'love' in its natural, true, and pure form was impossible for her to experience and whatever capacity she might had from those crones only took her so far, she was too socially inept and unlovable to be loved or loved in return. Still, if a cupcake let her feel a lie, she could live with that. “ I’d love to share with you a batch of mine next if the opportunity arises again if you’re still intrigued”. Well, Hanako just made a lethal mistake. He made an offer he might have told himself was genuine but he was not going to want the blonde amazon attempting to extract his offering when the opportunity came. Well, unless he was a masochist.
Well, one good turn deserves another - Professor Orion was indeed a scary man. Her uncle did not surround himself by the weak or the incompetent. He was the consummate sum of generations of effort and his status was more than just the product of luck and happenstance shining a golden light on a singular gilded entity. No, everything had purpose. He was not a nice man, he was a necessary one. A practicality, there was no emotional attachment for her but there was the threat that should be rather obvious at this point --
The angry screeching demon girl WAS SPEAKING IN ALL CAPS. She did not understand what the girl was going on about, something about a ghost and the noodle armed polite boy that she apparently hated. He made a fine impression on Erin oddly enough, her standards were famously low, after all she was into Jack. Past tense of course, Erin simply lowered herself in her chair, her elbows on the table to cover her ears to preserve her eardrums from the rambling girl.
"I'm as sane as I can be. No sudden urges or loss of memory."
Did he remember everything? How does one know that they knew everything that they should. How does one remember what that had forgotten. Admittedly much of the past couple of years was a haze. Madness distorted her reality and she saw the world through tainted glasses. "So birring," Erin commented. "Same boring Flash. Not that you remember."
"I don't remember you," she admitted but her curiosity was piqued. She had avoided the food, she was rather certain of that. "I usually avoid the food," she added. Her paranoia a boon in this case. In truth she had little reason to recognize him, their meetings were brief and to her insignificant. She had met him once while jogging, he had become aware of Jack's duplicity but in truth it did not seem like he cared greatly because the shared a room. She knew nothing of his altercation with Marion or the cursed eye he now bore as a result of that fateful date. She knew him as a second string seeker. A member of the Snape Dorm. She was too much of a loner to have gotten to know him in either place. "Should I know you?" She knew so little of Flash Holmwood she had mistaken Selim's victim for another. The day was of no consequence to her, but the same could not be said of Holmwood. Every significant event in his life was overlooked in her as 'just another day', a time to dally and that day would simply meld with all of the others from the days before and the days that would follow. Forgettable, average and mundane.
She dismissed Jack, his want to call her by her surname rather than her given. To keep the distance he had falsely closed between them was truly contrary but the boy was a contradiction onto himself. Selfish and cruel. He went on about politeness, an excuse really.
"Would you care for some tea?"
The ceremonial act of normalcy. The enduring masquerade. Yet a smirk would play on his lips and she would shake her head 'no.'
"Now that Flash has proclaimed it safe, that is."
Her caution immediately turned to distrust. He was smirking. Nothing funny was said. She lacked a sense of humor but she could recognize a joke unless the punchline was herself or Holmwood. "Definitely poison," she swatted the teacup if on the table or in Flash's hands like a pissy cat trying to knock every bauble from a shelf.
"This is for you," he announced dropping an inert jewel toned token of sorts into her possession.
"It's a favor token. I owe you for helping me rescue Flash and Shimada from Selim a while back. If you ever need a favor, just show me this and I'll remember."
She frowned at the item. It was a meaningless gesture to her, no humanity only an exchange. Like giving a twenty to a kid on their birthday. It was useful and hell to some kids, preferred in lieu of an item made with any thought, care or heart. He did not care about her, he never did. it was some sort of cruel game that he played, tricking her, letting her believe what she did and stringing her along. She was quite mad at the time so perhaps some of what she had come to believe was an exaggeration but it takes a special kind of person to take advantage of someone's trust for so long and for no viable gain.
"Flash, whatever I owe you he can repay," she announced as she dropped the token into his assumed empty teacup. She did not want it. She did not need it. She chose to help him because she wanted to, not because she was going to be compensated for it. Because there was some sort of gain. As dispassionate as she was. As apathetic and twisted as she had become, she was in ways more humane than her human counterparts.
Just a trick of the lighting they said...

Detention. A quite common penalty at Hogwarts and one Opeila had somehow managed to avoid so far. But being invited to one as a guest and a spectator in some way since it was sure to be hilarious was something Opeila couldn't miss. She didn't know one of the three boys, but the two others rather well by now. If she could only get the chance to get Hanako Tone to wait on her, oh, she would be sure not to let him forget it ever.
The only problem was the time. Oh yes, Opeila had been busy, cleaning up her part of the dormitory and also finished some homework that would be due next week and suddenly... Suddenly the young Slytherin was late. One glance at her clock had sent her jumping off her desk chair and hastily looking for something appropriate to wear. It ended up not being special, but then... well, what should one wear at a detention tea party? Her outfit seemed alright for the occasion. For once, she didn't braid her hair but just let it fall down her back in waves.
Loras had decided to join her on her way to the Defense against the Dark Arts classroom, occasionally staying behind to sniff at corners, walls, dropped sheets of parchment or whatever. The grey cat had grown some more in the last year and it was clearly visible that the kitten Opeila had bought back in 2020 was no longer that- a kitten. Frankly, Opeila was glad about it, his kitten behavior had been more annoying than she thought it could when she bought him.
When the two arrived at the door of the classroom, Opeila knocked on it twice before entering. "So sorry I am late, I seem to have lost track of the time.", she apologized with a light smile. Yep, it seemed that everyone was already here. When she spotted Hanako in his butler outfit that looked like it had been made for a man taller than him, she quickly bit her tongue, trying not to laugh and instead found herself a seat. Oh, this surely was going to be fun.
