Felix had successfully escaped the wrath of his own mother, only to walk directly into the talons of an angry old crow. What had Felix ever done to deserve such treatment? Aside from being an asshole and throwing the old lady's place setting aside, that was. There was a pure look of horror on his face when the crow lady approached him, his eyes widened and his shoulders clenched. Now he understood why her son spoke in such a meek voice. At least, he assumed the kid was her son, judging by the way he cowered.
"W-What the hell!" Felix tried to duck away from those pinchers, practically pressing himself up against poor Cain's arm. His face flushed with colour at her next comment. "What? N-No!" There was a girl at this table? Dammit, he really needed to get his shit together. He cleared his throat and tried to offer the woman a smirk. "Why are you so into my love life? Are you hitting on me? Sorry, you're a little too old for me. Your son is more my type." No he wasn't, but Felix really didn't have a type. Though he had made the weird blond kid named Colin cry, he got points for that. He just wanted to piss the lady off, because she had the audacity to make him blush! HIM. BLUSH. How dare she! He would never forgive her for such a transgression. At least she had finally retreated to his table. It was made even better by the fact that he couldn't hear Freddy because he had already walked away from him.
He tried to compose himself, sitting back up in his seat and staring at Draven. Admittedly he was only half paying attention, already eyeing the exit. "Gross. I try to avoid these things like the plague. Unfortunately, the old lady found out about my interest in muggle culture so I'm sorta on lockdown these days." Sneak out? PERFECT! Just what he came for. "Great, I knew coming over here was a good idea. Lead the way, trenchcoat." He didn't know the kid's name because he hadn't asked. As cool as the kid seemed, what if he found out his name and he wanted to like... Talk more? About personal things? Shudder. Felix hadn't judged the guy well enough to know if he was tolerable yet. Sneaking out did rank him pretty high. "You coming too, Poe?" He was referring to Cain. He knew his last name was Corvus, close to ravens/crows, which brought up imagery of Edgar Allen Poe. So Felix decided that was the kid's name. If the boy decided to come, he would follow behind the two and slip out, a sigh of relief escaping his lips.

Tattling was it's own reward, though Cain definitely felt a bit guilty about it afterward. He saw Cody get upset, but truly could not tell if it was him or something else entirely since it came out of nowhere. He resolved himself to not tell on anyone else for the rest of his stay here, even if he saw some kind of murder happen. In a pureblood event that felt like a possibility.
He hadn't thought about it before, but his mother might have a menacing presence. He thought it was perhaps just his own wish to be a perfect son for her, to never step a toe out of line. It seemed like others reacted in their own ways to her however, Draven even whispering that he didn't like her. He wanted to open his mouth in defense of her, perhaps if he'd tried to say something worse, but he didn't blame Draven for his feelings here. His mother was being... herself right now, embarrassing that Felix boy after he'd taken her chair. She didn't really have to be that mad, but she was so weird sometimes. He didn't always understand why, but he pretended to for her sake and that usually made her feel better. Felix's comments about her son being more his type went past him, he wasn't sure if Felix knew he or Draven was her son here. Ms. Corvis only smiled at Felix, she was happy with her work regardless of what Felix retorted.
The meal went as planned, except for poor Juniper burning her mouth somewhat on the food. The meal was truly delicious and he was a little regretful that they had to leave before dessert but he couldn't linger alone. Draven was the first to stand up and attempt escape. Cain checked the adults' table and made his move as soon as his mother's back was turned.
"Yes, on my way." He answered Felix- the nickname wasn't the worst he'd had so he didn't mind it, hastening his steps to catch up with the rest of them. He had to be careful so his shoes didn't clack so loudly against the floor and alert the rest of the dinner guests.
Following Draven and Juniper out, they seemed to find some dark corridor and the chill air made him glad he wore a dress robe over his suit.

| ββ | The manor was...oddly familiar. Draven was used to huge empty halls, cold marble floors and echoes which seemed to go on for days. The Mirador Manor was a maze of stone corridors, black snake candelabras and house elves who got paid a lot to talk about little. It seemed like huge gothic architecture was the trend throughout wizarding families. And after a couple months spent at Hogwarts, everyone developed a pretty good sense of direction. Draven didn't hesitate when he stepped forward. Gloomy light caressed the faces of his compatriots as they made their way through the winding halls. Up staircases and behind pillars, dodging under archways. It was only when the dust was starting to settle in their lungs and their legs begun to ache, that a gust of fresh air finally hit them. Like genuinely hit them. They were at the top of the keep, onto a balcony overlooking the vast manor grounds. Below them, a snow covered wonderland stretched out for what seemed like forever, giant fir trees towered over the tiny village pathways just off visible in the distance. Draven released a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. It seemed like it was easier to exist when he didn't worry about the other royals glares burning the back of his shirt. There was no need for posturing and posing out there on the balcony, amongst the ivy which had spread out over the manor walls and stars which had slowly started to blink from between the clouds. "It was so stuffy in there," Draven said, breathing in the crisp winter air with a sigh of relief. |

A grin crossed the Swede's features when Cain accepted his invitation. Usually, Felix could care less about socializing, but after the crazy lady had tried to pinch his cheeks he wanted to get his revenge. So he would sneak off with her son. What the two of them were doing? Well, she could fill in the blanks. Perhaps Felix was turning her son into a delinquent. If she made a scene, even better.
Regardless of his desire to exact revenge on the old crone, the poor bespeckled kid needed some time away from his mother. She was the classic definition of a helicopter parent it seemed. It was a wonder the kid managed to attend school without her moving in. When Cain made his escape Felix made sure to drape an arm around his shoulder (should Cain allow this to happen, if not he will pretend to stretch instead). Why? Just to piss the woman off even more.
He followed the other kid down whatever corner or hallway he travelled. Part of him started to wonder if this was some kind of setup and the kids were going to murder him, but he was also pretty sure that at 5'7" he could take the three of them pretty easily. What was this kid's name again anyways? Not Poe, the guy with the style. Had he asked for his name? The Swede couldn't even remember. Since he seemed like the brooding poet type, he decided to call him Edgar and stick with Poe for Corvus. The little girl could be Allan because he honestly had no desire to learn her name. "These places are always fucking stuffy. It's like fresh air is going out of style or some shit." Pureblood events were the worst, no matter how well planned, he just didn't fit in. Although he wasn't wearing a sumo suit like the munchkin twins were, so he guessed he wasn't doing half bad. "My mum found out I'm dating a muggleborn. She wasn't happy about it. The only reason she dragged my ass here. She wouldn't have stopped her nagging otherwise."
