Suggestion for a special ability

Quick Cast

It only affects the first turn of a duel or engagement with an opponent. Allows the user of the ability to cast a spell before their opponent.

Accuracy would be a -5 or something along those lines to account for the sudden motion / instability of the action. Damage could be penalized as well.

Just a thought that sprung up in my head. :)

Interesting notion on haste, being limited to the first round you are probably the first person I have seen to make an under-powered suggestion. That also tells me you have a legit interest. I like the concept, will see what can be done to power it up to the level of some of the other abilities.

As for the seeing who is online. Yes, we have a map that does that. It only shows who is in a school area, not London for instance. While there are extensions that make this possible, I think that there might be some restriction on this for whatever reason so I will have to find out if there is a specific reason why we don't have a listing or if it is because it betrays the aesthetics of the site.

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

I have a pet suggestion that is very small, but still, I would've had wanted it, for my character.
For hundreds of stories, witches and wizards had the Bombay Cat breed, and I think it maybe interesting to add it to the list of pets you can buy. This is a small suggestion, yet, if it's possible, I would be glad if you would add it :)

I was just going to point out three inaccuracies I found. You don't have to fix them but I recommend that you do. First, there is only one marauder's map and second, there is only one invisibility cloak. Lastly in the book it ays Ollivander could find a wand for almost anyone in one try, in the movie it's different so I understand the confusion.

@May Moonstar People have asked for black cats (and snakes, and others) before and I agree it would be awesome to have. But it isn't as simple as adding them on a whim. The available pets are all hard coded into the site and as it stands, the admins do not currently have the ability to add any. That would fall into the hands of the founder, Zach. I believe he has been approached with this suggestion before, so all that is left is to wait. You can try and wait it out for a possible update, or if you're in a rush, you can still roleplay having a black cat if you want. Just buy another cat as close looking as possible so that you can have it on your profile. Remember it can only be a regular cat though.

@Margaret Burkhart The Marauder's Map and invisibility cloak have ooc functions, such as showing online members and what they're doing in Hogwarts and hiding a user's identity on the map and last log-in time. For the sake of the game everyone is allowed to buy these items. Though Peverell/Potter owned the real one, there have been other less powerful invis cloaks. wiki

I'm just saying that I think it's inaccurate they could create a magical item instead of the marauder's map and invisibility cloak. They can just create one, in place of it such as a dragon's eye (just a random item, off the top of my head, it doesn't matter much what they'd use) that shows the players that are online to make things more accurate (just a suggestion).

And even if there are some other invisibility cloaks they are very rare and not likely to be found in a store.

Hello!

Random thoughts once again and another crazy thing popped into my head as usual. Since you guys liked my last idea though I thought I'd take time and talk about another thought I have.

Quidditch Stat Rewards

I'm not sure why there is an open spread to the way stats are rewarded for winning a game. You can site OOC reasons for winning the game, but, the stats gain are all IC and effect IC characters equally. I also could find no logical reason for why it's possible to put a +1 into arcane power after your character wins a quidditch match. This made no sense to me. My thoughts are pretty simple. Limit which stats can be gained for each position on the team. This will create more structured reasoning for stat gains in the system.

My idea?

Beaters could choose between Stamina and Strength
Keepers could choose between Accuracy and Wisdom
Chasers could choose between Evasion and Stamina
Seekers could choose between Accuracy and Evasion

This incorporates the 5 other relevant stats, but, limits them to specific gains based off their position.

It's just another thought I had. After all, we don't get +1 stats for becoming prodigal students and completing higher-level assignments even though we're improving our wisdom and arcane power by doing so.

Hello team,

Thanks so much for your hard work. I realise that without the effort from each and every one of you, this site would never have developed like this; and I can't even imagine the difficult codes and the amount of time you have sacrificed.

If I may just suggest 2 things to consider for improving this site.
1. For the summer break period, I think it's a pity if we can't RP outside Muggle London. What I mean is, we players may want to make our characters spend the holiday perhaps in the Muggle part of North Ireland, or even outside the UK. While I do realise this would be much work to do, it would be great to have an "Anywhere Else" location provided. This isn't the same "Anywhere Else" as in the Muggle London section; this can be used to RP for any setting from Loch Ness to Egypt to Australia.
2. The second recommendation is regarding the class system. Whereas this site is a writing site, it seems to me that most of us prefer to RP rather than doing the 50+ word homework. I never mean to compare Hogwarts.io with other sites, but may I just point out that OC I used to join other sites featuring Hogwarts classes and for me they have a good system. Many of the questions given as homework come in short answer forms, some are multiple choices. Sure there might be an essay, but not all the times. If our homework system can be updated this way, I'm sure that it would also save the professors' time.

That's all my suggestions for now. Even though I know they may mean hard work, or even big changes, I would really appreciate if you could possibly consider them.

Many thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing our site keeps on growing.

@Elisabeth Erner As for your first suggestion, there is a place where you can RP anywhere in the world already set up! It is located under Muggle London and it's called 'Elsewhere.' You can name the location of where you're RPing in the beginning of your post, but it allows you to be anywhere in the world that you want to be!
