Qrow and Lucian are being psychology nerds and I'm just occasionally saying stuff that gets buried

As in, whether or not someone's personality is influenced by their experiences or their genes? that's what I picked up from reading your last post

Don't worry Rhys, I don't know much about psychology either!

Yessssss

More so Psychology, like I love English don’t get me wrong but my top two is probs Psychology and History

And hello to whoever said my name. I think Rhys xD
Psychology>>>

Love learning about Milgrams variations and how memory works and stuff!

As for History, I'd enjoy it more I it was ancient history rather than learning about the wars and stuff...
Milgrams Shock Experiment, yeah. I love Development, Social Influence and Criminal Psychology. Where do you stand on Nature vs Nurture, Situational vs Dispositional?

And yeah, but I love all the war stuff. I love learning about the Cold War. America sucks, can’t lie. Love Restoration. Health is eh.
Oof, nature vs nurture is tricky cause on one hand, genetic factors we get from our parents can affect how we act, and on the other, how we are taught to deal with things as we grow up also affects it...
I lean very Pro-Nurtue. You can have a drunk dad and a mum that partakes in drugs yet depending on your situation, who you spend time with, how you’re brought up (not necessarily by your parents because in some cases friends parents, teachers, people you see on TV etc) can also help mould your future. But also the idea of, I don’t want to be like you. Like, no one is born inherently bad, your fate isn’t set (imo). All these sickos on TV are like this because of something in their life, not because they were born evil.

There is always a reason for a reaction. The things we internalise and don’t even realise we internalise. And then add on the fact our brains are still developing and your formal operational stage is sort of crucial times for development and stuff. It’s where moral reasoning comes into play — amongst other stuff. Especially around 11/12. You’re taught morals and manners from your parents/people around you.

I could talk a lot about this haha. I know that I am very Nurture in this debate. There are loads of situational factors
I totally agree with you on that!

Tbh, the only parts I really agree with I nature is when disorders and stuff like that are passed down genetically. Top mark A-level questions always need an on the other hand point and when it comes to nature vs Nurture, I always mention how stuff like Schizophrenia or ADHD can be genetic and can influence behaviour

How Do I look? Convincingly Human?

Yup. Like are we born with a set purpose. Are we born EVIL or GOOD. Is it our biology that makes us this way or the things around us that have influenced us

Very true, I often wonder if I would feel different, be different about certain things if I didn’t have autism. So yeah, baring mental disorders, I think my point stands, but if we do bring them in that’s where it gets more nature.

However, there are certain disorders that are brought in by how we interact with the world and not genetic. Like depression, anxiety. Some disorders that are brought on by the intake of drugs, like paranoia.

But yes, agreed with you on Schizophrenia, ADHD, ASD.

erm.. could we perhaps switch the subject? or could you guys maybe switch to talking about this 1 on 1? I'm not against y'alls nerdisms, but Schizophrenia is a sore topic for me due to personal reasons and I can't help but squirm whenever it gets brought up-
I don't mean to be a bother :wry:
I can explain more in owls if desired, I promise this isn't just me being sensitive for no reason

edit: the psych talk is 100% fine, even if I don't completely understand y'alls ramblings, but maybe veer away from mental illness a little?

The thing I love about psychology is that a study isn't seen as credible until it can be disproven and improved upon!

It makes the class debates so fun!! my college legit has a debate chamber and I LOVE IT

And I get you Rhys, I'll keep that in mind.
Sorry!

While this is interesting, since Rhys is feeling uncomfortable I'll change the subject. You can always carry on the conversation in owls if you want.
EDIT: this was written before I saw Rhys' edit

How's everyone's days going? Mine's been fairly good so far!
