Just my opinion, Emily, but I think a good way of looking at it is from your character's point of view. If she's terrified of heights or speed or being eaten by a random forest, then broom sports might not be for her. If she's really calculating and prefers small teams and concentrated action, then duelling might be best.
Colin chose racing because a) it's fast, b) you can throw things at other players and cast spells on them, c) the strategies are longer and less focussed than in quidditch. And also, you're technically not allowed to fling spells in quidditch!
Aves! We should totally duel or find ourselves in an unofficial race. Our kids have such a lot in common!
Also! For Emily --- check out the various unofficial sport clubs we have! You might find what you're looking for there!
Keep your mind in hell; and don't despair.

I was first on the Seeker waitlist when I signed up and still had to wait 2-3 months before I was able to join.Emily Harris wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 02:31omg! in ravenclaw, i'm 3rd in seeker waitlist and 4th in chaser, and there are 2 ppl each in keeper and beaterLivia Machavariani wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 02:29It's currently at 1 player waiting in Chaser and Seeker, no waitlist at all for Keeper, and then it's long for BeaterEmily Harris wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 02:18just asking, how long is the waitlist? (though I'm not slytherin)Livia Machavariani wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 02:16 All due respect. Quidditch! PLUS the Slytherin waitlist is small (shameless self promo).
They've all got their pros and cons though! Racing breaks my brain, but it's really fun and I've had a blast doing the alumni broom race in the London Quidditch Stadium.
I've been a part of Quidditch on H.io since the beta in 2019, though, so I am incredibly biased. I love it so much. Can be a bit chaotic and goodness do those bludgers deal a ton of damage, but it's fun.
Duelling is also fun. Fewer moving parts than Quidditch and racing. I think the captains have been really inventive in changing things up over the years with regard to mechanics.
I'm currently on the waitlist for all three, but for when I create an iNPC, I want it to be in the best sport (though still unsure what it is, putting it up to vote for that reason)
and I'm 5th in broom racing waitlist...
and 3rd in duelling...
long wait before I get accepted into any team
That would be so fun!Colin McCoire wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 02:33 Just my opinion, Emily, but I think a good way of looking at it is from your character's point of view. Yes— I signed up for the Racing and Dueling waitlists in August or September last year, and made the team in March or April. It might take you months, depending on your house’s activity in that sport, but you will get onto the roster at some point!

I know how you feel. The writing ability here is insane. I feel like I have improved so much in the last year by reading other's works, and yet I know nothing at all. It's a great way to improve your skills!
Let me know if you'd ever like to RP!

Avis: You don't know anything? Get that outta here. I just read some of your RPs. You're really good at expressing your character's thoughts so naturally. That's for sure not easy to do!
Brookline: I don't mind being bit
Thank you for the guide! The coding is for sure going to take some getting used to, but I think I'm getting there. Call me out if I am lagging and I will sign up for the program right away
Colin: You can die as a first year?
That sounds fun.
