FAQ — Questions
I spend an incredible amount of time dealing with multi-accounts. We do not allow multi-accounts in this community. We have had players try to sneak a new account in by making a second account on a different device. I do not just note IPs on creation, I can review the IP used whenever you enter the site. I can tell when the site is entered and there is no post made from a different device. Some people are careful at first, but eventually we incidentally notice it and we can often tell when someone is trying to sneak around. Sneaking also tells us that you definitely knew that you were doing something that was "wrong" which is considered worse than not knowing because you failed to read the terms of service & site rules, or thought it was OK because you could elsewhere. If a person did not know they were doing anything "wrong" they would make no effort to hide what they were doing. We would notice obviously quickly a multi that someone makes no effort to hide and then tell them that they cannot do that, deactivate the other account and then carry on with our day.
Example - transferring small portions of a large sum of funds. Just logging into the site but never posting on a second account for the purpose of "spying" on another area. Posting only on one device per account (Ips are based on location so if you are using the wifi I can tell you have 2 accounts up on separate devices). The concurrent use of 2 browsers. Claiming you have a massive family sharing a device but I see seconds between swaps so their 4 cousins that share the same house must be sitting on their lap.
There are of course ways of knowing someone is a separate person. Unique, distant IPs that happen regularly. The regular use of multiple cellphones. I have seen people get real unique even here as well and I have seen friends "take over" a friend's account (this is still multiaccounting) so while we could verify they occasionally shared IP (because friendship) the accessing the site changed.
I ask very very nicely, please do not multi-account. If you multiaccount I will have to ban you. This is not targeted at Mei but in general. If you have a friend that is a separate person, I would not worry greatly but they will need to communicate to us who they are to you and vice versa. We will look at the IP, but if this person is a friend then they will have a home IP in addition to a shared IP (such as a school) and we would never see them on your cellphone and assuming they had one and accessed the site with it we would see their cellphone IP.

FAQ — Questions
So I had an interesting question.
Let's say you are a 7th year and you graduate from Hogwarts and become an adult.
Then, you decide to deactivate and create a new character.
Would that new character be a brand new 1st year?
Or would that new character be a 7th year that had just graduated from Hogwarts?
Since I think I saw somewhere your new character would be the same year as your deactivated one?
Or was that just your iNPC?

FAQ — Questions
If you make a new character after your present character graduates then that new character would start as a first year. With iNPC the year of it would be the same year as your present character so if you graduated from Hogwarts that iNPC would also graduate from their school.

Oh good, so my new character would be a 1st year then if my present character graduates.Mei Hagikura wrote: 3 May 2022, 14:35 If you make a new character after your present character graduates then that new character would start as a first year. That's what I wanted to know.
Then my new character's iNPC would be a 1st year too.
Thank you!

FAQ — Questions
I joined the site years ago, gathered some minor "wealth", and then left. My character skipped a couple years and is now a fourth-year, and I also don't really remember my old RPs.
What are my options now upon returning?
1. If I decide to catch up, is there a pile of homework that I'll need to handle in order to e.g. learn spells, or gain other things that normally would be available to a fourth-year who kept doing that regularly over the years?
2. If I opt to create another account to start anew, do I have to deactivate this one and lose all of the things I already gathered here? Is there any system in place that would allow my new account to start off from some slightly better place than literally square one?

FAQ — Questions
1. You do not have to do any homework to catch up. You automatically learn all of the previous year’s spells upon graduation. Homework is optional for either house points or learning a spell earlier than the next year.Angela Silverberry wrote: 6 May 2022, 11:52 I joined the site years ago, gathered some minor "wealth", and then left. 2. You will have to start anew. That means total deactivation. There is no system to allow your new account to start richer. However, since you’ve been gone, a 10-sickle per day scholarship adjustment is available for students now — a change from its previous 1, 2, 5, 7-sickles per day respectively for 1-4 years. Store items are more reasonable in their acquiring. You may find it easier to build wealth or regain your items if you do choose this route.
FAQ — Questions
Pretty much everything that she said. As for your advancement in years, you must have been peeking into the site periodically for your account to not fall off Index by the year's end. If you plan on keeping this character and account I suggest checking Index to make sure that you are still registered in Index. if not, reapply there as we are slowly approaching the end of this school year.

You automatically learn all of the previous year’s spells upon graduation.
This is true but your character cannot use these spells IC until you fulfill certain conditions. First, you need to post on the update form saying that your character learned these spells and that they need to be added to their trunk. Once the spells are added to their trunk, that is when your character can IC use these spells. Technically, you do automatically learn all the previous year's spells upon graduation. But you can't use them IC until you can see them listed inside your trunk.

I actually got a message some time ago about my Trunk getting deleted (though it is somehow still accessible if you follow the link in my signature).Solomon Lear wrote: 6 May 2022, 13:44 Pretty much everything that she said. It seems I'm not in Index too.
Not sure what to make of it - should I be fourth year or not? - though it's likely I'll move on from this character anyway so no need to worry about that too much : )
