Dee grinned at the expression on her friend's face, the way her mouth dropped open, and knew Ileen was tempted to protest. But Ileen's honest nature won out. Where Dee was the type to throw tantrums and whine, Ileen wasn't one to try and talk herself out of bad situations, so she'd just sit there and take it as it was, because Dee's words hadn't been lies. Hah, payback.
Both highly entertained and entirely too smug, the Ravenclaw made a silly little face at her best friend before directing her attention towards Professor Kibitzer's reaction.

The old woman's only reaction seemed to be to gather up the bones strewn across the table from her previous reading and shake them in her hands, but while she let them clatter back on the table's surface, she repeated Dealla's words. Dee thought she'd still shown restraint - at least she hadn't told the professor what those methods consisted of.
Now, she nodded seriously, although the corner of her mouth twitched. "Yes, very unconventional," she agreed, without really offering any further explanation. "But I think they might be very effective, too." While she didn't think Professor Kibitzer was very conventional herself, she might still feel compelled to give Ileen and her detention if she found out they were ready to hex approximately half of Hogwarts given the right reasons.
In any case, the casual way she'd accepted Dee's rather obscure phrasing raised her opinion of the professor. Not everyone would have. Maybe Kibitzer wasn't so bad after all.

Dee leaned forward curiously when the bones came to rest on the table in... some sort of pattern, she supposed? Honestly, she couldn't see anything from it, it just looked like a bunch of bones on a table to her.
Professor Kibitzer on the other hand seemed pleased by the results, and although Dee could not fathom where she got her information from, the old lady's words had her hard pressed trying to not burst out laughing.
Her eyes widened and she pressed her lips together firmly, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards, and she actually had to hold her breath to not start giggling.

Was the professor aware what she had just sanctioned? Unlikely. Would Dee and Ileen use this incident to justify any and all unconventional ideas they came up with? Most certainly.

Both Professor Kibitzer and Ileen seemed to think that was the end of it, so Dee managed to squeak out a short "That's wonderful, thank you!" after Ileen's goodbye and then followed Ileen out of the queue, still trying so hard not to laugh that her eyes were starting to water.
She only shook her head when Ileen stopped right next to the fortune telling station and pushed at her to move further away before she finally burst out laughing hard enough that her tears spilled over.
"Oh, Merlin," she gasped between giggles.

Ileen seemed entirely too smug about the way this had gone, but Dee wasn't in a mood to disagree. "They'll never know what hit them," she said when she had calmed down, wiping the tears from her face. "Hogwarts better beware."

"One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."

Perhaps if Ruby was paying a little more attention, she would have picked up on the other girl's awkwardness. Should the prefect have been more aware and considerate? Probably, but sometimes she forgot that people occasionally felt awkward. She was typically direct, saying what she wanted or asking personal questions without regard to others' feelings. It didn't bother her normally, because she got the information that she wanted and often didn't have to see the other person again. However, when she was trying to get to know someone and when she liked them enough? That was much harder. Talking to those people was a leap of faith, but maybe it was good that way. Life was full of risks and, as much as she would have wished otherwise, she couldn't predict everything and calculate her way out of it.

None of that even mattered if she didn't answer Illowy's statements. If she left a bigger pause, the silence could be pleasant with the company, but it was likely that it could become uncomfortable, since they didn't know each other well. She began with a nod, “I understand that.” She remembered all the times she had snuck out at night before and after coming to Hogwarts, searching for a moment of peace and quiet. “I think it's beautiful. I enjoy learning about the constellations and how astronomical bodies around our planet can impact us here on earth. Your point about socialising is good, though. The tents are pretty nice, but you're right, it'd be a shame to waste a month here by doing nothing.”

Her light gaze drifted over to Illowy's eyes as she faced the girl properly. Her head was tilted ever so slightly, a trace of idle curiosity in her eyes. “So if Astronomy isn't particularly your passion, what do you prefer?” There was a wordless "only if you're comfortable sharing" somewhere in there. An implication or part of her expression. A desire not to overstep. Was she talking too much? Maybe not. Illowy had wanted to socialise, after all, and this was a chance to do that.

Ah yes Stargazing...this is exactly what I need; the moment that I heard about stargazing I knew that I had to come join in on the fun. However I had no idea just how much fun was on the horizon for me here. When I arrived at the area for the stargazing I was very surprised to find there was more than just that here...oh boy a story teller and best yet a fortune teller. Hmmm I honestly had no idea how to feel about something like a fortune teller; the only time I had seen one was at a carnival and well she seemed like a true fake.

I know what I am but of course no one else does....I know everything about me but of course no one else does. This would be the perfect test for this fortune teller to see if she is legit or not; it is my assumption that she is the Divination teacher...when that year approaches would I be willing to take that class if the teacher is a fake? Nope, not in the slightest...

Since tonight is a warm night I am wearing a long flowing dress with sandals; the scarf that I wear daily is currently styled as a headband...the way in which I wear it the most. The ring my dad give to me before I boarded the train to Hogwarts hasn't left my finger since the day I put it on nor has the bracelet my mom made for me a few years back....well to be honest the only time either of these leave my body is when I shower. Looking the part of a fortune teller myself I walked over to the area that Professor @Rosalind Kibitzer set aside for her talents tonight and waited for her turn.

The Professor finished her reading with some girls and as they departed she would then beckon Howard forward. With a nod of his head and a forced smile, the Dhampir would take a few steps forward. As he approached, his body would begin to show signs of the nerves that racked through him. A simple reading shouldn’t give anyone a reason to be nervous, but the information he sought was far from the usual.

His feet felt heavy as his pulse began to quicken. The knot in his stomach tightened as perspiration began to bead up on his brow. Would she be able to decipher the sinister nature of the question that flashed across his mind? Would she know the task he was assigned was given to him by dark forces? It was a risk to approach one of the staff with such things on the mind, especially one that was a gifted Seer, but the pull to obtain useful information was too great.

“Hello, Professor Kibitzer.” Howard said, his words spoken softly as he knelt before the table. Two options were presented before him. Would it be the cards or the bones? “I was hoping you could use your cards to see if they show you anything about a task I have been assigned. I am to retrieve something special for a certain someone, any chance I might succeed?”

Illowy returned the nod thoughtfully as Ruby explained about how she liked astronomy and its effects, listening quietly. The snake liked hearing people's thoughts on such things, things they enjoyed or meant a lot to them or were passionate about; even if it was thing Illowy, herself, couldn't care less about. It lit people up in a way, and that was always an interesting show to watch, "They are. Bridget Collins, she set up our tent and its really pretty. She brought these neat lights on a wire, like Muggle Christmas lights, but pretty and dainty... I think one of the girls called them pixie lights or fairy lights, something like that, but they're everywhere. And we have this little pillow nook that my cat has decided is the ultimate napping place." she chattered, trying to make the best of conversation; though wondering for a moment if perhaps she was overcompensating and turning into one of those girls who bored her to death because they wouldn't stop babbling.

As Ruby moved slight to face her more properly, Illowy took the queue that perhaps she ought to as well, shifting more towards the other to answer her question, "I like Charms, DADA, and Transfiguration. I like learning new spells and I want to know as much as I can for Dueling Club." she explained. Doing well in Dueling Club was one of her ultimate goals while she was in school, her own mother having had been captain in her time at Hogwarts, "Is Astronomy your favorite class?"

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

@Ariana Walker lol sorry this took so long

"You can tell me, don’t worry. I might understand. I will understand."

Arian's quickly-made correction went unnoticed by Ivy in her despair, for in her emotional fog of confusion all she could think was no, she won't, she won't, she won't. For how could anyone understand the feelings the girl thought so despicable stirring inside of her? It was wrong to like Zyk. He was Lizzie's boyfriend. Lizzie's boyfriend, not hers. And Ivy was friends with the Ravenclaw... oh God, where was Lizzie? The Gryffindor's head snapped up and she turned around, almost jolting Ariana's arm off her shoulder as she searched frantically for the blonde. She was praying that she hadn't been anywhere near them when the confrontation had happened... they had only just become friends.

"You won't understand because you don't know what I've done," Ivy whispered in response, turning back to face Ariana. She shook her head, taking a long, shuddery breath. Why had she come to Zyk that night? What had she hoped to achieve? Ivy couldn't even remember anymore. All she knew now was that it had been a mistake.

Ariana extended a hand to her, and Ivy shook it gently, perhaps against her better judgement. Even though she knew Ari had good intentions, that could change in the future. Bad things happened all the time. For all Ivy knew, they could have a falling out in a few days... and in that situation, Ari could no longer be trusted. Ivy thought back to her and Zyk - how well they had gotten along, how much they trusted each other, how perfect their friendship seemed - only for it to come crashing down around them.

She let out a watery, choked laugh in spite of herself as Ariana made yet another joke, shielding her eyes to look around. Ivy hesitated for only a moment longer before opening her mouth to speak. Her eyes stayed focused on the ground, unwilling to meet Ari's gaze and watch for her reaction. "You know how Zyk and Lizzie are - are dating, right?" She swallowed the lump in her throat and continued, voice shaking. "Well, Zyk and I were friends. I mean - for a short time. We were... I thought it was fate or something. It's so stupid now that I think of it, but we were really good friends. And then the Ball came and we went together, and... stuff happened."

Ivy bit her lip, closing her eyes as memories of the ball flashed through her mind again. The flames, the mosps, the confusion. "We had a massive argument later and we didn't speak to each other for a month. He... he was right," she added nervously, "but I didn't want to admit it. And... I missed having him around, but I didn't realise how much until..." Here she gulped, fresh tears springing to her eyes. Here came the hard part. "...until I saw him with Lizzie at Opeila's party in June. I... I have... feelings for him. And he's with Lizzie and I'm friends with Lizzie and everything is just a big fat mess." Ivy's lip trembled and she blinked the tears away, looking up at the night sky. The stars were so bright, the skies clear and dark... oh, how she wished she had stayed away from Zyk that night!

"But it got even worse because... because tonight I decided to tell him. I know I shouldn't have. I don't know what I was expecting but he - he didn't really say anything to me - and walked away. And if Lizzie finds out, I..." The Gryffindor trailed off and looked at Ariana. Did she really have to explain what Lizzie would do if she found out? There was a short pause before Ivy spoke again, her voice strained from the effort of not crying. "I don't know what to do."

Ruby grinned as Illowy talked about her tent. “That sounds lovely. I'm sure I've seen those kinds of lights before—I think some people decorated their area of the dorm with those back in first year.” She paused to think before confirming her statement with a nod, sure that that's what it was. “The pillow nook sounds great too. Our tent is blue and Margo decorated it with little stars that glow in the dark. I believe she started trying to make a few constellations; I reckon she's quite fond of Astronomy.”

Ruby did not so much as bat an eye at Illowy speaking more. In fact, she enjoyed it. While the conversation was mostly small-talk and she would have preferred for it to be a little deeper, they didn't know each other yet. They had to start somewhere, and by both parties continuing the conversation and elaborating, it at least kept things moving along. The slightest shift brought them closer, focusing the attention and almost allowing them to speak more easily.

“I like those too! I'd possibly be interested in Dueling Club as well, although I'm pretty sure I'd have to give up Quidditch for that. It would be a hard choice.” She shook her head in response to Illowy's question. “No, I don't think Astronomy is my favourite class. The feeling of casting spells is, well, magical, but I don't have a favourite class at the moment.” She considered it for a second before continuing brightly, “Truthfully, I enjoy all the classes. Some are less… exciting than others, but I really value any new knowledge. I'm passionate about learning.” Shrugging slightly to try to downplay her words a bit, she subtly searched the other Slytherin's face for a reaction. The gleam in the prefect's own eyes betrayed her true feelings, negating the shrug.

Illowy gave a thoughtful tilt of her head as Ruby returned the conversation, telling them about how Margo had decorated their tent as well. Truthfully, she didn't know Margo terribly well, but she was the sort of person that came off friendly enough to get along with just about anyone, at least in her interactions with the girl.

It felt almost strange to have such a general conversation. Most of her interactions only happened at parties, either making menial small talk, or trying to save either other lives. Or it was over studies or inquires about the strange happenings around the school. For once, it was sort of nice to talk about things that were some sort of matter of life or death, "You're braver then I am. I could never play Quidditch, I'm a horrible flyer." she admitted with a chuckle.

In spite of Ruby's attempts at being nonchalant as she spoke about learning and casting new spells, Illowy caught the small spark that it might've been more then just enjoyable classes for her, "I love learning new spells too." she agreed, "Maybe too much. My cousin says I'm a massive nerd because I'm already working on fourth year's charms and transfigurations." the snake explained. At the realization that maybe that sounds too boastful, she nervously pressed her lips in a tight line, letting her head fall back slightly to lift her pale gaze up towards the stars, "I just like studying a lot, I guess." the brunette finished sheepishly.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Oh, they won’t know what hit them.” Ileen agreed and smirked at her best friend who was finally recovering from her laugh-cry-attack. The young Slytherin was still delighted that the professor kind of had given her blessing to their unconventional plan to make these idiots shut up. They would definitely use that as an excuse. It was for a greater cause!
She carefully looked around and groped for her wand. Her fingers were itching to start with their plan right away, but on the other hand she enjoyed the fun and calm evening. There was enough chaos anyway and she wouldn’t disturb the peace – peace she was craving for!
With a silent sigh she let go of her chestnut wand and wrinkled her nose. Well, as she already had observed when she and Dee had learned the Sneezing Hex, there were plenty situations to jinx the idiots. No need to create a situation right now. There would still be plenty of opportunities.

Good that we have a blessing now.” Ileen peered over to their blanket and frowned as she spotted Percival there. “Even though I would highly appreciate it if you won’t jinx Percival right away.” She gave her friend a strict look and raised one eyebrow. “Only if he says something stupid, okay?” Though she tried to hide it, a smile plucked at the corner of her mouth. She was amused by the thought of Dee hexing Percival all the time when he was near. The young Slytherin tilted her head with a mischievous sparkle in her dark brown eyes. “Haha. Probably we could convince him that he is allergic to you. That he has the…” She made a dramatic pause. “Dee-sease!
Amused by her own pun she shook her head beaming at her best friend. “But honestly. I think we should not provoke him. Since he seems to be one of the less idiotic people in my House. Even though he chose to hate you for some reason.” She tapped her chin in a thinking manner and then nodded. “Okay. That’s pretty dumb though.” Her gaze rested on the blonde boy and she thoughtfully bit her lower lip. Actually, she still didn’t really know what she should think of him.

What should we do now? Get some more strawberries?” Ileen looked around. Her motivation to return to the banket was rather nonexistent. Now that she was on her feet, she would walk away to avoid chaos. Percival Rainwood and Dee were an explosive mixture. Maybe they could go somewhere else?

Ruby had decided that this was nice. Just a normal, pleasant conversation in a nice location, a break from the havoc that seemed to plague the lives of every Hogwarts student. It felt a little weird… but good. Illowy said that she would never be able to do Quidditch. Fair enough, everyone had different interests and skills, and she wasn't one of the Quidditch fanatics who would shame her for that and insist that the sport was the most wonderful thing to ever exist. “Thank you, although I don't consider myself that brave. I just like the feeling of being so high above anything and the thrill as I chase after the Quaffle. Whizzing through the air and scoring a goal is such a wonderful feeling. If you wanted, maybe I could help you with your flying when we get back to school.” She smiled.

When Illowy mentioned loving to learn spells as well, Ruby started feeling excited. The grin was uncontainable as she listened to the girl's words with an eager nod. “There's never too much spell learning,” she insisted. “I think it's amazing that you're already working on those advanced things. We haven't even started third year! What sort of stuff are you learning about? Are you teaching yourself from some kind of book or getting help from someone else?” She realised she might be getting a little too eager and curious, and while she kept her words slow and calm enough to understand, there would still be a lot to pick apart there. “I… share your love of studying. I'm considering doing something similar, so I just think it's cool to find someone who's already doing that and is interested in the same general things.”
