Name: Sylvie Joelene Everett
Status: Pureblood
School: Beauxbatons
Year: Second Year
Appearance:
Reducio
(FC: Emma Engle)
Sylvie has long brown hair and slightly tanned skin. Unless for some reason she has a reason to be annoyed, her features are normally curved into a smile, and even when she's supposed to be listening or sitting, Sylvie tends to keep shifting her gaze and watching everything nearby. If confined, Sylvie is prone to pacing, unless she can find a suitable pursuit to keep her occupied, although it's rare that that ever lasts long.
Personality:
Reducio
She had frequently been described as an "untameable ball of pure energy", mostly on account of her extremely energetic behavior and boundless enthusiasm. However, Sylvie can also be incredibly stubborn in her goals and decisions - although most people she meets later describe her as "strong-minded". Unlike many in her family, she prefers to head outside and play over remaining inside to learn, a fact many of her teachers, and then later, even some of her personal tutors were quick to point out.
History:
Reducio
Sylvie Joelene Everett was born on a cold September night to Marie and Louis Everett. However, the dark place of her birth did nothing to affect the rest of her life. In fact, Sylvie quickly grew up to be more energetic than both of her studious parents combined, and was always quick to point out the positives in any situation. By the time she was four, it wasn't a rare sight to see the young Everett child waddling around the neighborhood, looking for something or someone to amuse herself with. And while many were tolerant towards her free-roaming behavior, there were still those who found the child irritating and troublesome. However, that did nothing to faze the girl, and instead made her all the more determined to befriend these grumpy people. Her efforts were of course met with little to no success, but many admired her staunch determination in the endeavor.

In fact, that same stubborn determination has in time become one of her most predominant personality traits, along with her excitement and loyalty. Unfortunately, after the initial admiration wore off, many people began to find her "pigheadedness" tiring at best, annoying or irritating at worst. This led to her parents receiving several complaints from the neighbors, which inevitably resulted in Sylvie getting confined to the house and yard until further notice. Being the fearless little girl she was, Sylvie attempted many, many times to break out, but excluding short trips down the road before getting caught again, she never succeeded. However, the message soon seemed to get through to her parents, and they allowed her to walk to the park once a day, as long as she was accompanied by either her mother or father. And so it went for several years.

When she reached age nine, the household prison sentence, which had already grown loose and half-hearted over the years, was finally revoked. Sylvie reveled in her newfound freedom, but was careful to respect other people's space the way her four-year-old self hadn't, lest she lose the privilege of spending pretty much all her time outdoors. In fact, this was the cause of her first instance of magic. Her parents had been growing worried over the fact that their daughter, who was only two years away from her eleventh birthday, had yet to show any signs of magic. But one afternoon, when she accidentally wandered into the next door neighbor's backyard after mistaking their house for her own (many of the houses on her street looked quite similar), she found herself almost getting caught by the man who owned the place. Luckily, she somehow managed to cause a commotion by sending a stack of tools and other assorted yard equipment crashing to the ground in a great mess in order to distract the man before he discovered her hiding place in the bushes. While at first she was hesitant to believe the cause of the accident was actual magic, Sylvie soon realized that there was no other explanation for the seemingly sturdy pile to fall apart. Then, after she made her escape, came the dilemma of telling her parents. In the end, she fibbed that she'd sent a collection of things flying at her head away, and they accepted that fully, much to her joy.

Nothing much else in the remaining two years of her life before she arrived at Beauxbatons was very much remarkable. However, once she did begin school, Sylvie was quick to assemble a group of close friends, and although they've had their share of arguments, her easy-going and positive nature makes it hard to stay mad at her long.

It's odd, yes, but although Sylvie has never been the most intelligent of the bunch, she has always fostered a love of spells, especially those used for dueling and defending herself and friends. Or, really, anyone that deserves defending. She's not picky.

This led to numerous study sessions, which was an oddity for the girl, who was more likely to be seen outside with friends than in the library with a book. But there she was, doing her best to learn spells not necessarily at her level. Throughout her first year, she met with little to no success in her studies. In the end, Sylvie would have just about given up, if it weren't for a trip to visit some distant relatives in London, where she met up with two of her cousins she'd never met before. While one of the two was generally more of a nuisance, the other was an invaluable source of spell knowledge, especially about spells for Defense Against The Dark Arts that were one year ahead of Sylvie. After an initially rocky start, both girls (for the second cousin was also female) seemed to get along well, and enjoyed the majority of their time together, even though this led to both getting targeted by a large amount of pranks and general annoyances from the cousin's younger brother. Sylvie took advantage of the allotted time to learn all she could about advanced Defense Against The Dark Arts spells from her new friend, learning quite a bit in a surprisingly short time. When the trip was finished, Sylvie's parents were surprised by their daughter's sudden thirst for knowledge on the subject, where before there had been only general indifference, or at the very most a lesser interest. However, they did nothing to hinder her, and in truth were also instrumental to Sylvie's learning process.

After an entire summer of studying various books and asking her parents for help, Sylvie managed to get herself up-to-date on the current spells in class, since after a year of not paying all that much attention, she didn't remember much. But that didn't solve her next mission - to go above and beyond the norm for that class. So during the start of her second year, she threw herself into her spell studies, even spending many of her free periods working and reading, much to her friend's surprise. But in the end it payed off, with Sylvie finally learning spells most of her peers had yet to figure out. Now she is happy to resume her typical schedule - but with a bit more studying than before.

Edit Note By Me: I was recently warned that students aren't able,to have advanced abilities because then they'll know spells the main PC doesn't, however, since Miranda already has the specified ability, I was wondering whether it would still be OK. If not, then consider her second ability as undecided.

Additonal IC information for Sylvie:
Sylvie's instinctive wandering would have got her in trouble as Beauxbatons travelled to Hogwarts. Noticing the Academy's staff being nervous at times, they often snapped at her and forced her to stay close to the group. The tension during the entire trip was palpable. What was it that had the professors on edge? As she stuck closer to one of the staff members she heard someone mention how the streets weren't safe any more with the riots going on. A line that would certainly make any child wonder what was going on.

"Ow!" Sébastien rubbed his head while eyeing up the tennis ball that was rolling away from his body. It stopped after a while and lodged itself into the snow as the boy turned around to see his grandfather laughing at him. It was a wonder why they had decided to play tennis on a early February snow day. Normally, they would be sat inside with a book or two drinking hot chocolate and warming their bodies against the fire they had but they just had to go outside on the coldest day yet.

The young child crossed his arms while huffing and shaking his head. Then he pulled his gloves off and signed "Why did you do that?" His grandfather shook his shoulders and grinned before picking up another tennis ball and reaching his arm backwards to throw it towards his grandson. Sébastien closed his eyes waiting for the impact but it never came. He stood there for a while just shivering while trying to figure out if he just didn't feel it or his grand-father had a terrible shot.

Slowly, he opened one eye and looked down to see he had moved. Berry did not recall moving and was very confused. He looked up and signed again, "Did I move?" while his grand-father nodded his head wildly and walked over towards the pile of tennis balls they had made. There was around twenty there and another ten scattered around the tennis. Sébastien's grandmother had also been out with them for a while but had gone back inside due to her back problems leaving the boys to play by themselves.

As soon as he saw another ball heading for his head, Sébastien jumped out of the way and ran to the other side of the court. "Are you trying to take my head off or something?" He signed and shook his head before letting out a chuckle. His grandfather did always have a reason behind his methods so Sébastien did not push on any further and continued to look out for any yellow/green balls of fluff flying his way.

His grandfather quickly took off his gloves and replied moving his hands at a rapid pace, "I'm preparing you." He then proceeded to pick up two balls and chucked one in the air before catching it again. "What for?" Sébastien inquired before ducking as one zoomed past him. His grandfather laughed again and picked up his racket.

"What's he doing now? Is he really trying to kill me?" Sébastien whispered under his breath while shaking his head. It was getting colder by the minute and he was determined to not get hit by his grand-father. If someone was walking past and say him get a tennis ball to the face they for sure would laugh and go tell everyone on the street. What a humiliation that would be!

John (his grandfather) smiled and threw a ball into the air while swinging the racket with all his might and hit the ball in the direction of Berry. Even with the air resistance slowing the ball down ever so slightly, if it hit Sébastien he knew a bruise would form. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath taking in his surroundings and ran out of the way before the ball clipped his ear.

"Good lad." His grandfather signed as he nodded his head and then grabbed the rest of the tennis balls from the floor while beckoning his grandson over. "That's not the last time we will be doing that, Son." John let out a small laugh and continued, "I want to see you grow up to be someone who can evade attacks. Not be the attacker."

"But why would I need to do that Grandpa?" Sébastien questioned looking towards the floor. He knew the exact answer to that and did not need to hear the answer as his mind suddenly flew to the instance a few weeks beforehand where a few boys had thought it would be funny to throw rotten food at him. It had really been Sébastien's fault though. He was the one that had insulted a little girl and was the one who went around bragging about stuff. It was just good to be prepared. "Never mind, I think we should do it the same time next week."

OOC NOTE: Everything said to his grandfather was signed and everything his grandfather said was signed as well. The only time Sebastien speaks is when it is specifically said.

Name: Enzo Delcroix

Status: Pureblood

School: Beauxbatons

Year: First year

Appearance:
Enzo is a fairly average sized boy for his age at a height of 144.5cm (4’7). He has a honey blonde heap of hair on his head that tends to be situated in a slightly unkempt fashion. He has a pair of darkish blue eyes that he inherited from his mother and has a warm ivory coloured skin tone.
(The banner that I will use is posted up top)

Personality:
Enzo grows annoyed quicker than the speed of light and isn’t afraid to show it. He particularly gets frustrated when people talk to him about frivolous things or try to start small talk with him unnecessarily. When he neither likes nor dislikes others it is quite typical for him to have a pretty dull and have a sarcastic attitude towards them. If he wants to, he can be a cordial and sincere kid, but he doesn't show that side of himself often unless he really actually likes the person. He enjoys reading old literature in his spare time and constantly finds himself lost in the world of books. He doesn't seem like the type of kid that fancies studying but he surprisingly does and is a pretty clever kid.

History:
Enzo Delcroix is an 11 year old pureblood who was born in Bordeaux, France but both his parents Madeline Delcroix and Adrien Delcroix, are Belgian. The boy grew up in a quiet but a ruleridden setting.
As an infant he had gotten quite sick and it had taken him a long time to recover, hence the fact that when he was a small boy he was still very weak and frail. His parents decided to shelter him from everything because they didn’t want him to catch something from the outside world since they assumed his immune system was too fragile to go through another illness. Luckily after the age of approximately 8 he started to finally gain some strength, but with that said, unfortunately it did not change his parent’s view of him. Even though he was not so little and puny anymore his mother would hire tutors to teach him in the “comfort” of their own home so he would not have to go to school, and he absolutely hated it. He felt a bit jealous and thought that it was unfair that he was being babied at home while all the other children got to live a ‘normal life’ for children his age. He wasn’t such a little boy anymore so why was he still treating him like one?
His father was hardly ever home (which Enzo assumed was due to work), leaving him with his extremely strict mother who made it clear that she would choose where he could go and what he could do and had constantly kept him on a tight leash barely giving him any freedom. He had a couple of “friends”, but they were the children of families who his parents had approved of and said that they would be good influences on him, whatever that means. But to be honest he did not care about the friend aspect of his life whatsoever. He was perfectly fine with entertaining himself by reading or something of that sort, because anyways he found most children his age quite annoying since they would talk about such shallow things like what was the newest show playing on the television or the freshest gossip about celebrities.
Surprisingly he actually did once find a friend on his own, a neighbour who he would talk to over the fence of his house, but then one day out of nowhere she stopped showing up. He was very concerned regarding her whereabouts so he had asked his parents and they gave him a very dry answer and just gave a poor excuse by saying she moved. The more time that passed the more he started to slowly forget her appearance, but the one thing he remembered was that the little girl had bright green eyes that were always filled with a look of curiosity. Funnily enough they had never actually introduced themselves to one another because they always called each other by a nickname. She would call him “solitaire” meaning “loner” because she consistently saw him outside on the lawn of his house doing something or other by himself, and he would call her “oiseau” meaning “bird” for the way she was always humming a soft tune. She was the first kid who didn’t bore him with childish topics or gossip. She had so many interesting opinions on every single topic they talked about; from books to studies to muggles, she somehow had an endless amount of thoughts, but she had vanished without a trace… although he knew though that one day, eventually, he would try to find her.
His very first encounter with magic happened when he was 9 years old. One dreary day his tutor had gotten frustrated with him since his penmanship was an utter mess and was apparently unreadable, so he was given the task to rewrite a single sentence multiple times until each letter was perfected. He quickly grew angry at this and was staring at the page with his jaw clenched when all of a sudden every single page in the vicinity burst into smithereens causing bits of paper to rain down all over the room. When the boy realized what went on he was ecstatic, for he knew what it meant. He assumed he would be but this finally confirmed it... He was a wizard.
Enzo was informed about Beauxbatons only a few months prior to his departure. He had heard about the school beforehand but was shocked to find out he would be going to attend and live there and was confused why his parents were letting him go since they hadn’t even let him go for a walk down their own street by himself. Eventually he came to the conclusion that they wanted him to become a successful wizard and knew they couldn’t teach him properly at home.

Enzo’s bored looking facial expressions and short tempered attitude is something that is quite noticeable once he enters a room. His mother always scolded him for acting the way he did, but he couldn’t help it; it was impossible for him to put a fake smile or act like he was happy and excited when being talked to by others. “Be more friendly, be more social” these words that his mother told him were played in his head like a record, over and over and over again. But the only reason she asked this of him was so her idiotic friends would compliment her on what a nice son she has. So did he care? Not in the slightest. All it did was anger him to no end. Why does he have to change who he is? If she didn’t like who he was she should have raised him better. At least that is what he thought. How did she expect him to be a peppy enthusiastic boy who prances around eagerly all the time? She was the one who sheltered him from the whole world because he ‘a weak little boy wouldn’t be able to survive in such a cruel society’. Although he never spoke back or talked out of turn to his elders, he always had a whirlwind of unpleasant comments rushing through his brain. When he did get the chance to meet other kids, most of the time they did not talk to him voluntarily, since they seemed kind of weary of him, like he’d bite their head off or something. In all honesty he wasn’t a cruel or a particularly mean kid, I guess you could say he just had something that was off about him. One thing that was clear to everyone who met the family was that Enzo had an uncanny resemblance to his father. Although his father wasn't around much, when he was Enzo found himself looking up to him. He wasn't the best role model in the slightest but he was Enzo's father after all.
So not only from looks he resembled his father, but also because he had started to gain a lot of similar qualities to him. His father had an odd effect on people as well, but in his case it was much stronger and more evident. It was obvious that the people he would talk to get easily intimidated by his presence and become rather uneasy. Enzo wanted to be able to do the same thing since he knew he could use it to his advantage. He knew if he had that edge to him he could effortlessly get people to leave him alone, and was pretty much oblivious to that fact that he already somewhat was.

Even as a newly arrived first year, Enzo would be able to tell that the academy was running a bit stricter than most had anticipated for the coming year. Something had startled the members of staff and news from the outside wizarding world seemed to always feature the same topics of birthright and blood relations. Maybe it was time to make some friends and connections for the young Enzo.

Name: Florian Yves LeRoy

School: Beauxbatons

Year: First-year

Age: 11

Birthday: December 3, 2008

Nationality: French

Blood Status: Wizard-Born
Appearance: Florian is a soft-faced, blue-eyed, and brown-haired boy. It is quite clear that he is of French descent, with his pale skin. He has an above-average build and is rather strong being the youngest of five boys, all of which loved to roughhouse and pick on their youngest sibling. He is quite fashionable, and takes pride in styling his hair, usually with gel.
Face Claim: Maxime Godart
Personality: Florian grew up as the youngest of five boys, and while his older brothers tended to pick on him, his parents spoiled him rotten. He was their precious little ‘petit garçon’ (little boy), and he got everything he wanted, and now he is always used to getting his way. When this doesn’t happen, he tends to do whatever he can to make it happen, be it good or bad. Despite this, he can be quite a charming and eloquent guy when he needs to be, able to talk himself out of certain precarious situations. He is also extremely competitive, as he aims to be the best of his siblings.
History:
Reducio
Florian was born December third, 2008 to Èdouard and Èlodie LeRoy right outside the city of Strasbourg, France. They were told this would probably be their last child, as his parents struggled to conceive him. Because of this, they were sure to spoil him and gave him whatever he wanted. He grew up a very rambunctious child, as being the smallest of five boys proved to be challenging. His older brothers were all jealous of the treatment he received and they tended to pull pranks on him until they were old enough to attend Beauxbatons themselves, leaving him alone to be swooned over by his parents. He was 4 years younger than his closest sibling, the others all being only a year or two apart.

His first sign of magic came at age 7 when all of his siblings were home for the summer holiday. As they tended to do, his older brothers were roughhousing out in the back garden. With no rhyme or reason, they pulled Florian into the scuffle. Things started to get more and more intense and little Florian couldn't handle it anymore. He let out a large yell of anger for them to get off, and realized he had accidentally sent his brothers flying back a few feet off the ground. He was shocked. Well, perhaps that would teach them a lesson! His parents heard his yelp and ran out back to see what the commotion was. His brothers were immediately ready to tell his parents what happened, hoping to get Florian in trouble. However, nothing could ever get their precious 'petit garçon' in trouble, and, of course, they were extremely excited that all five of their boys had magic. Shortly after, Florian told his father about his interest in riding brooms. His father, unable to say no and being an avid rider himself, then took the time to personally teach Florian everything he needed to know about flying brooms.

While he loved his parents dearly, as he got older he began to feel like they were too overbearing and overprotective, so he began acting out. Breaking the rules became a new hobby of his, and he loved sneaking off with his father’s broom out into the night. He couldn’t wait to get away from them, and was elated to get his letter to Beauxbatons.

Florian was excited to attend Beauxbatons, he simply couldn’t wait to learn magic. After arriving, he was sorted hastily into Ombre Lune, the same house as his eldest sibling. He doubted that his siblings would be there to help him at school… his best bet was to turn on his charming demeanor to make him some friends. He did this well, as he managed to secure a spot on the Beauxbaton Broom Racing Team.

Growing up with four older brothers who were all jealous of how their parents treated you was never going to be easy. As a young child, Florian stuck to the rules, no matter what they were doing, and his brothers would make fun of him or would easily take advantage of him. His parents, however, gushed over how such a lovely ‘petit garçon’ could also be quite the charming and sweet young boy, always the one to follow his parents every whim. As he reached age 9, he was beginning to get tired of always being the center of attention in his family, as well as the overbearing attitude of his parents. Something had to be done, he simply couldn’t stand being the goody-two-shoes ‘petit garçon’ anymore.

It was then he decided he would get back at his brothers and his parents. He would break the rules. That would show his brothers he had the ability to ‘stick it’ to his parents. Maybe he could finally be friends with them. When at home being tutored by his parents before attending Beauxbatons, he decided to put his new plan in action. The fastest way to be done with his homework was to cheat… then he could do whatever he wanted. When his parents weren’t watching, he would sneakily grab the page with the homework answers out of his parent's book to copy the answers on his homework sheet, and, more often than not, he was successful at it. While his parents would be upset with him when they did catch him, they tended to blame it on other things, such as his older siblings' influence on him. This just made Florian even more upset.

He decided that his next attempt at cheating would be something big. He knew he would be playing again with his brothers soon when they came back for the summer holiday, so he began to study all sorts of ways to become better at them at broom racing… and even the best ways to get around the rules. He was almost the best of them at flying, with all of the independent instruction his father had given him, and he was ready to put it all to the test. He casually suggested that they do a race out in the forests of their large estate one day and of course, his brothers were eager to prove they were better than him. Little did they know, the track that they typically raced on had been rigged for certain things to happen, as well as smaller areas were made to fit through than his older brothers could. This took Florian an entire day to set up, but it was well worth it. Of course, Florian ended up winning and he also managed to bump a few of his brothers around some while racing. One almost hit a tree! He was extremely proud of himself and his brothers were actually proud of him for tricking them so cleverly. Oh, they would still make fun of him for sure, but Florian earned a little bit of respect that day. From that day on, Florian knew it was not quite so much about skill, but about how you bent the rules in order to win. You can always get what you want if you break the rules….

Emile has short dark brown hair and large brown eyes. His eyes almost come off as yellow in some lights and he takes pride in this. He is a moderate height and weight, not too small and not too tall. Many moles and freckles dust his face and body. He usually wears very well put together outfits and his hair is always laid in the right way. He uses a minimum amount of gel, not wanting his hair to get dehydrated or crusty.
Personality
Emile is very kind. He loves taking care of others and being as helpful as possible. He wants to make as many friends as possible while at school. He is shy and doesn’t usually put himself out there. He is also naive and easily pushed around. If someone more assertive than him comes along they can easily manipulate him into doing what they want. He loves animals and hopes to take care of them one day.
History
Reducio
Emile was born into the LeDoux family. He is Liz’s second cousin. He was born to Noelle and Albert LeDoux in Deauville on the coast of France. He grew up as an only child and was spoiled rotten. This however is not what he wanted. He never asked for anything and any fancy things he had his parents bought for him because they wanted to spoil. Although his parents are from a strict Pure-Blood family they are not as aggressive about it. They still would prefer he got married to a Pure Blood girl they would be fine with any. He himself does not care about any of that.

From a young age, he was very interested in Magical Creatures, the family owning many. He showed interest in normal muggle creatures too. He found all species to be interesting and wants to learn all he can about them. He read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them well before attending any sort of school. When he got older he started pushing his parents to let him attend a muggle school until he was old enough to go to Beauxbatons. They finally relented and he started to attend when he was 7 years old.

His first instance of magic was when he was 3. He was toddling around the living room, playing with his toys when his mother came in to try and put him to bed. He tried to get away from her, not wanting to go to bed, but that didn't work out. When she tried to pick him up she found that he was much much heavier than he should be. He had made himself heavy enough that she couldn't lift him to take him to bed. She was so pleased that she had shown a sign of magic that she let him stay up a bit longer.

He first went to the beach when he was around 8 and immediately fell in love. He had never seen anything quite so beautiful. He loved the smell of the ocean, the sand between his toes, the breeze, and the animals. He loves ocean animals. They mystify him more than any other type of animal. If he wasn’t at school or at home he was observing and drawing ocean animals. He has a journal that he draws and writes notes in. He is ecstatic to learn about magical creatures at Beauxbatons and can’t wait to meet friends.

Emile always looked for new books to read about different animals. Whenever he ran across what looked like a good book about Veela’s it was always in a different language. This made really bothered him and inconvenienced him. After running across the 5th book in a row in a different language he decided to switch his search. Going to the language section of his family library he found many books about many different languages. Finding all the ones he could about Veela, he took them to his room. He spent hours upon hours reading them. Within a week he had finished each one and was ready to re-read and try and learn the language.

Starting with simple greetings and basic chatter, he quickly moved on to more advanced things. He had always been an academic and spoke French, English, and German. Why would Veela be any different? English and German were both muggle languages and had been fairly easy for him to get down, Veela, however, was a magical language, and the first one he had attempted to learn. Basic things were easy for him to get down. It was the more complicated parts of the language that got him. He would spend hours each night trying to get only a few phrases down. He would walk around the house muttering in Veela to himself.

After a month and a half of practice, he felt pretty confident in his abilities to keep a basic conversation going, although it was hard to know since he didn’t personally know a Veela he could practice with. However, his parents had noticed how much effort he was putting into learning the language and his mother asked her Veela friend to try and help him. When she told him he was so excited. As soon as the Veela walked in the door he immediately greeted her in Veela. He called her Ms. Paquet.

Ms. Paquet came every weekday for 2 hours to work with him on the language. This was a godsend as he had been pronouncing many things wrong. He had an understanding of the basic mechanics of the language but not how to pronounce anything. Within the following 3 months, he picked up more and more. Ms. Paquet was shocked at how quickly he learned and was impressed with how much he picked up in the few short months. As he grew his parents started planning a trip with Ms. Paquet where he would go and stay with her family for a week, just to test out his Veela with others.

He was ecstatic and really enjoyed his week with the Veela family. He got many comments on his language skills and lavished in being able to understand what they were saying. When he got home he felt confident enough to get those books in Veela and read them. He has been honing his skill ever since and tries his best to practice twice every weak so he doesn’t lose it.

Additonal IC information for Emile:
What Emile had gathered in his short stay at Beauxbatons was that some people seemed to have issues with particular children of mixed magical heritage. Whether you agreed with these issues or not, it was entirely up to you. But you did notice a small group of students starting to gather more and more, looking to stand up for these part-giants and goblins. Protecting their rights for being accepted in wizarding society

Name Elise Gabrielle Laurent
Status Wizard born
School Beauxbatons
Year Second
Appearance Elise was what you would call pretty. Or, perhaps, positively gorgeous. And she knew it. Her hair cascaded past her shoulders in silky, golden waves and she had natural lighter blonde highlights. Her hair is her pride and glory - Elise combs it the typical one hundred strokes every morning and evening. Don't forget the afternoon brushing as well. Elise's hair is silky smooth, and normally what people stare at first when they pass her by on the streets, or catch a glimpse of her anywhere.

Elise has features like those of a porcelain doll's - they look slightly young for her age, yet still compliment her entire shining appearance. Her fair skin is practically flawless; in fact, the girl works incredibly hard to keep it like that. Her mouth is normally in the typical neutral position, or frowning with distaste and her eyes can pretty much convey all her emotion, which is usually negative. Sadly, her pretty face is ruined by the glares she gives people on an almost daily basis. Elise is rather tall and thin for her age, but she calls it 'willowy' and 'slender', as does everyone who meets her. Similar to Scarlett, the girl uses more than attractive words to describe her appearance. Slender sounds so much better than thin.
Personality It was a great shame really, that such a lovely face had to be wasted on such a selfish girl. Why can't the kind, caring people ever get the good looks? Because, yes, indeed, Elise Gabrielle Laurent was incredibly selfish. Greedy, manipulative and ruthless might also describe her rather well. She was completely unaware of this, as most people are rather blind to their flaws.

Elise isn't completely without hope however - she still has a few redeeming qualities. Even though she is willing to step on others to achieve her own goals, Elise doesn't usually cross 'the hard lines'. When her actions start hurting people in an irredeemable way, she stops. Elise is also quite a charismatic (and cunning) girl by nature and unknowingly manipulates people into doing what she wants - perhaps this is why she grew up so spoilt. Elise does defend her friends, even though there are not many of them. Her methods of defence isn't exactly peaceful, however.

Overall Elise is a cunning and charismatic girl with a knack for manipulating people. She is ruthless and rather cold, but knows when to stop and will stop.
History
Reducio
Estelle Chevrolet and Marius Laurent were childhood friends. The two lived in Paris, nicknamed the city of love. Perhaps that title would prove to be true, soon enough. Estelle was from a wealthy and incredibly noble pure-blood family, and her relatives would fit all your expectations of a house like that - strict and determined to keep the blood line pure, to the point of obsession. Marius was named after Marius from the famous movie, musical and book Les Miserables, which his completely Muggle parents were fond of. Marius was a Muggle as well, and the friendship between him and Estelle was frowned upon by the latter's family.

Estelle and Marius were friends all throughout primary school in France, sticking up and fiercely defending the other. However, Marius did not know Estelle's secret - she was a witch. Estelle kept this hidden from her dearest friend, worried he would hate her for it. It all went well for a while. Marius never asked questions about Estelle's strange absences or incidents where she seemed to be something not...normal. But one day, before Estelle could tell Marius, she was swept off to Beauxbatons on a carriage pulled by Abraxan horses at age eleven, forced by her Grandmother. Or, from that day on, known as 'THE Grandmother'.

Beauxbatons was beautiful. But Estelle was already miserable - and at such a young age as well. Marius started to attend a French secondary school, wondering where Estelle had gone. He became distrusting as a result of Estelle 'abandoning' him. He became cold.

Eventually, Estelle decided to rebel against The Grandmother's wishes and send an owl to Marius. She told him to write back and give it to the owl. The girl waited in hope. Marius received the letter, hesitated one moment and crumpled it up, throwing it in the bin. And when two weeks went by without a reply, Estelle gave up and numbly worked her way through the course work. Her friends at Beauxbatons were alright. Yet no one could replace Marius.

Once Estelle finished her education and Marius finished his, the two met again on fateful day at a bakery. The re-union was somewhat bitter, but the two made up within weeks and had their first kiss on a viewing platform of the Eiffel Tower. Estelle shared the fact that she was a witch and she had to leave because of her family wanting her to attend Beauxbatons, and Marius accepted it. The two had a private beach wedding on the 17th of July, 2007.

Elise was born soon after, and it was evident the girl lacked her mother's compassion and love for romantic things. Her father's darker, colder side was what Elise inheirited, much to some people's despair. After the birth of Elise, it looked like Estelle and Marius's relationship was falling apart. No one knows what happened to prompt this, but the pair began to act more cold to each other, snapping more often. Young Elise had no idea this was going on and continued her happy life of tormenting other children in primary school. Eventually, only 7 years after their marriage, the pair divorced.

Estelle was left to raise a child single-handedly, and her magic helped. She managed to get a wizarding day job in France and dropped Elise at an reluctant babysitter every time she had to work late to make ends meet. At eight years old, Elise had a temper tantrum at school, promptly setting the curtains on fire in the classroom and the fire brigade running. A few windows shattered as well - this was all magic. Elise never even touched the curtains or windows.

Now eagerly awaiting Beauxbatons, Elise hurried through the rest of her childhood as Estelle grew older and more stressed. Eventually, mother and daughter Apparated (and Side-Apparated) to Cannes, where Elise was picked up by the Abraxan horses and carted off to the magical palace.

The girl's first-year was mostly spent building her reputation of being the school's 'Mean Girl'. She tormented everyone - students and teachers alike. She flooded the corridor. She hexed people. Fun times. Of course, she had a few friends that stuck by her for a while, but it was usually a come-and-go thing. Elise didn't care.

Okay, maybe she did.

The girl was lonely, but continued doing what she did. Elise became a Broom Racer in October last year.

Elise Gabrielle Laurent really did have a rather fair face. Everything about her simply just worked together, including her stereotypical blonde locks paired with her stereotypical blue eyes. Her hair wasn't just hair - it was tresses of gold, with naturally lighter blonde highlights woven in, flowing down her back and almost reaching her waist, stopping at around the point that one might call 'medium'. It was soft to touch - almost silky and was absolutely and undeniably perfect. Her eyes - they were orbs, and in them, you could see oceans, endless waves of bright blue that seemed to intrigue you, puzzle you, draw you in. Her skin was flawless and a milky white - no pimple or imperfection in sight. The girl's features looked like those of a porcelain doll's - incredibly fragile and young, like they might break apart at any moment. When average people look at Elise, look at her characteristics, they feel an inexplicable need to protect this beautiful child. And even though it makes her look rather young for her age, Elise makes it work, everything about her fitting together like the most perfect of jigsaw puzzles. Elise is willowy and slender, with an hourglass figure and slim and nimble fingers.

The girl first realised her beauty quite early in life - Elise was an observant child. She saw people who would stare at her randomly in the street. She noticed others always complimenting her, about her eyes or her hair or her outfit that day. Elise liked this. She soaked up the attention and revelled in it. Once she was deemed barely old enough, Elise began to flaunt her natural good looks even more. She dressed up in fashionable clothes - lace, fishnet stockings, chiffon...they all blended together in a separate complex design each day, as the girl stood in front of her mirror and arranged her outfit.

Elise's beauty was expected - her father, Marius, had broken many hearts in his time at school, with his roguish style, tousled brown hair and mischievous hazel eyes - all combined for a devilishly good look. Her mother, Estelle, had also been quite the stunner, looking almost exactly like Elise in her prime time at Beauxbatons.

Elise knows she is beautiful and she shows it. She dresses up. She breaks hearts. Perhaps not a perfect role-model for someone so pretty, perhaps not the most modest...but at the end of the day, you couldn't deny that Elise truly was a lovely creature.

Terrible Presence
Reducio
Elise - she was lovely. She was charming. She was charismatic. She was beautiful, gorgeous and many other things that was essentially just adding on to the list of adjectives that described her loveliness. Undeniably pretty and perfect on the outside. Elise was attractive and naturally good-looking and terrible.

Terrible?

Many would be confused at this sort of aura, radiating off her, one that exuded danger and a terrible, terrible feeling no one could just quite place. Horrifying might even be the word to describe it. And this 'aura' was strong. You could almost feel it as a solid form, her very being, her very soul emitting waves of darkness and despair. Normal people tried to ignore this feeling when they saw her, interacted with her, helped her. They concentrated on her positives (which did not include a lot of things) and focused on her dazzling smile, her intense gaze and her flawless hair. They had an urge to help her, and urge to ignore the strange presence they felt. It hadn't been like this last year.

Last year, all was well for the young and beautiful blonde. She tormented people, but for her own enjoyment. She relished breaking all of rules and climbing to the top of Beauxbatons social ladder. Nothing prompted this - simply her own snarky, devious and rather mean nature. The point was, she did all of what she did for fun.

However, in the summer of her first-year, everything changed.

The girl was rather young for all this. As Elise travelled home happily, feeling fairly content and accomplished - as well as proud for finishing the year at Beauxbatons - tragedy shook the Chevrolet-Laurent household. Estelle Chevrolet was growing older, yes, but a death would not be expected at only thirty seven years of age. Elise had already prepared for a passing, of course. Elise was the sort of girl who liked to prepare, map out, plan and anticipate everything. When her mother, or father died, she knew that by law, she would inherit their money. Being the cold-hearted girl she was, Elise didn't really mind if her relatives died off. More money for her future. And anyway, her parents didn't take spectacularly good care of her. She hadn't seen her father in a while and her mother was distant these days.

What happened was Estelle and her sister, Elise's aunt, got into a heated argument in the year. Her sister turned on Estelle, for reasons unknown. The shouting match blossomed into a fight. Apparently, Marius showed up in the middle of the duel, for once deciding to visit his wife and make a few amends while their cold daughter wasn't home. He entered right in the middle of the fight between the sisters, rushing in stupidly to try and stop it. After that...it was all a blur. The duel ended up with all three adults dead.

After that, Elise filled out papers and moved to an orphanage. She was never the same. Everyone in the orphanage knew about 'that terrifying, pretty' girl on the third floor. No couple wanted to foster her. And the girl came back to Beauxbatons, a changed person. She no longed fought or bullied. She was quiet. Yet, the quiet seemed to be a dangerous sort of quiet. The quiet which made you feel on edge, one that sent shivers up your spine. It seemed like a thick, suffocating aura surrounded Elise at all times, one that repelled even the strongest of teachers. No one knew what this presence was.

They just knew it was terrible.

Maximilien de Fostoncy
Beauxbatons | Second Year | Pureblood | Human
Image posted by the member
Name: Maximilien René Jacques Pascal Vincent Louis de Fostoncy
School: Beauxbatons
Year: Second
Age: Twelve
Gender: Male
Blood Status: Pureblood
Species: Human
Residence: Lyon, France
Appearance: [Faceclaim: David Mazouz]
From any aspects, Maximilien was a good looking boy. His eyes were of dark grey color like his mother, and were calm and intelligent. Sometimes his eyes were even shown as black in the darkness. His dark brown hair was almost black, and was actually curly, but somehow his father managed to comb them smoothly that seemed his hair was straight. When he was young, you could identify the curls clearly, but in his teens, it was much more difficult. He stood at 156cm, which was of average, and weighed 40kg. The boy was of athletic built, since his father had always wanted him to be the part of one of the teams in Beauxbatons. Fair, he was, just like everyone else in his family. Always dressed in dark colored clothes, he had successfully inherited both of his parents’ advantages in their looks. Like what Vincent de Fostoncy, his father, had proudly said, “Nobody looks awful in our family, but my son is especially handsome among all of them.”

Personality:
Growing up lacking family affections from his father and grandfather, Maximilien was generally quiet. Shy, he was a little bit, and would not be opening his heart to someone he did not know well immediately. He was taught to do more than say, and the boy carried it out well. He would always be the one doing things quietly for everyone, and left the whole scene first. Kind, intelligent and loyal, this helped to build the boy up. Though always not saying much, Maximilien was proud inside, and was extremely stubborn. He would always be sticking to a thing or a belief that he was approved of, and possibly would not change his mind. He was much more mature and serious than his peers, and would analyze the situation carefully. However overall he was really good-natured, and would love to help someone in order to make everybody feel comfortable. The boy was really well-mannered, and most people liked him. Maximilien was a deep thinker as well, and was always down in his own thoughts, no matter he’s alone or not.
History:
Centuries ago, when it was the time of King Henri IV, a family in Lyon rose secretly. They owned a huge wine estate, and therefore, became wealthy and reputable by selling wines. Everyone wanted to get to know them, but all failed. No matter who they were, they were never invited to the wine estate. Little did they know, this family was a wizard family —— a pureblood one also —— the de Fostoncy.

The de Fostoncy family was proud of themselves. They had an extremely good reputation among wizards. They owned the huge wine estate for centuries, and every year they received a great amount of money from it.

They were against the muggles. Muggleborns and half-bloods were really not a choice for the de Fostoncy family, French origin, and pureblood, that were things that they valued most.

Maximilien came to the earth on a serene and beautiful night of March 10th. His full name was pretty long——Maximilien René Jacques Pascal Vincent Louis de Fostoncy. His grandfather, Louis de Fostoncy was Karen Fostoncy’s[1] elder brother, and was the only heir in the family at that time. He, and his wife gave birth to Vincent de Fostoncy, and passed down the blood to the next generation successfully. Vincent married Mélanie Janvaque, and Maximilien was born——the only child, and the only heir.

Maximilien was taught to call his grandfather “Monsieur le Comte” (though he was never a count, nor even a lord)[2] and his father “Monsieur le Chevalier” rather than “grandfather” and “father”. His mother, on the other hand, was forced to be called “Madame” though she did not like it. She hoped her son could be with her for a longer time, but that’s nearly impossible in the family. Women to them were not important at all. All their duties were to give birth to a heir and show off at fancy balls.

When someone first laid their eyes on Maximilien, they would say that he resembled his mother. With messy dark brown hair and dark grey eyes, he was more like a member of the Janvaque family. However his body built and face were somehow like his grandfather, and the boy was handsome. Almost exceedingly.

The family established a full set of rules for the young boy. He had to get up at seven o’clock in the morning, had breakfast in twenty minutes, then began his course of the day. Usually it was about spells, charms and potions, but his father would be glad to teach him some hexes and jinxes sometimes too. Maximilien never liked the dark arts, but if his father taught him, he could not refuse. Only, the boy might be secretly not taken the course fully in his heart. In the afternoon his tasks were to learn the pureblood etiquettes and physic training. Monsieur le Chevalier had always wanted his son to be part of the teams in Beauxbatons. In the evening, he mostly did some free reading. Though it was called “free”, muggle novels that his second cousins loved were strictly forbidden. Only when Enjolras and Combeferre paid him a visit, he could secretly get access to the fantastic muggle novels.

Monsieur le Chevalier seldom talked to his son except the essentials. Madame wanted to speak with Maximilien, but she wasn’t allowed. She was afraid of her husband and father-in-law, honestly. Monsieur le Comte basically paid no attention to this grandson except at grand activities. To him, Maximilien was not a boy——but an item to show off to relatives and friends.

As a result, the boy grew up in a place that extremely lack family affections. Though the de Fostoncy wine estate was extremely large and comfortable to live in, Maximilien was not really happy. His merriest memories in his childhood were when Enjolras, Edmund, Combeferre, and Lindsey, his great aunt’s grandchildren paid him a visit. In all four, since Edmund and Lindsey were English, he met them less than the other two. He admired them. Almost envied them. He was living like a machine rather than a normal child.

Maximilien was quiet, and do more than say. He was an extremely honest child, and very loyal. People always liked him——he could easily be the teacher’s pet, however his personality made him generally quiet and humble. Showing off was really not the boy’s cup of tea. Cautious and well-mannered, he was just exactly a bragging item used by his father and grandfather.

When the boy was five, he experienced his first magic. Monsieur le Comte decided that it was time for his grandson to attend some fancy balls, though he knew that Maximilien did not like large social events. He cried hard and was really angry for not wanting to go, but was forced by his grandfather. However, when his mother tried to put on the fancy clothes for him, something strange happened——although all the outfits were made according to his height and weight, they were just too big. They tried several times, but every time the outfit became ill fitting. Finally the adults realized that it was because their heir’s magic had surfaced. They gave up, and the boy was not taken to large balls until he was six.

Footnotes:
[1] Karen was Lindsey’s grandmother, and was the younger sister of Louis de Fostoncy, the current count and Maximilien’s grandfather. This made Lindsey, her brother Edmund, her cousins Enjolras and Combeferre second cousins of Maximilien.
[2] Louis de Fostoncy had no titles, but he wanted one and made himself to be called as “count”. This “title” would not be passed down to others or inherited by Vincent and Maximilien in the family.

First Year: Lovely Creature (WC 405)
Reducio
At the time Maximilien was born, he was considered handsome. It was not really a surprise, though, since his parents were all extremely good looking. Mélanie Janvaque was one of the most gorgeous girls in class in her school days, and Vincent de Fostoncy was secretly had a crush on by many students. Honestly speaking, no one in the family wasn’t good looking——from Louis to Maximilien.

Successfully inherited his mother’s eye color and hair color, the boy was fairly good looking. He had good the straight nose of the de Fostoncy family, and thin, pink lips. His eyelashes were long, and were of brown color. His mother regarded him as a doll when he was sleeping. Actually, even if the boy’s awake, he was like a gorgeous statue.

When walking on the streets in Lyon, Maximilien was looked attentively by many strangers. They stopped when he and his father passed by, and pointed at them secretly. Sometimes the boy’s ears would catch a few words like “handsome” “good looking” “lovely”. He was young at that time, and did not really take these things seriously. However his father was glad. Glad that someone had praised his son.

Attending fancy balls played a large part in the family. Louis de Fostoncy, the current count, especially loved these kinds of activities. Taking the beautiful Madame de Fostoncy, the handsome Chevalier de Fostoncy, and the young de Fostoncy heir was just extremely agreeable, since whenever and wherever the family of four showed up, they would earn applause and praises. People admired the wealthy family, but especially, envied their beauty. They dragged the young heir near them, and examined him carefully, hoping to point some flaws on his face out. However, they failed. Maximilien was too lovely to find out a flaw. If you had to point something out, you might say that he’s a bit chubby——but he was still a good looking child. The old ladies especially loved this pretty boy. They talked with him for hours, even if the boy got bored.

By the time he was eleven, Maximilien had became even more handsome. He had mostly grew his chubby cheeks out, became taller, athletic built, and was always dressed in elegant dark colored clothes. The boy was still admired and envied by many others, and the future count of the de Fostoncy family was highly estimated.

Without a doubt, Maximilien de Fostoncy was always a lovely creature.

Second Year: Perfectionist (WC 424)
Reducio
Growing up, Maximilien had always been a perfectionist. Being stubborn, he wanted everything to be the best——which he would not regret afterwards.

From the age of four, his grandfather forced him to stay inside the house and study spells and potions for the whole morning. His father was his mentor——and to his surprise, Maximilien did everything extremely well. One day Monsieur le Chevalier taught him a difficult potion, and within hours, Maximilien could revise the recipe correctly. Vincent was surprised. But what he did not know is, after he had gave the book to the young Maximilien and left, the boy copied the recipe for seven times. It was really long, but he still did it.

Upon the time he was accepted into Beauxbatons, Maximilien was hard working student. He loved Charms and Potions, as well as Defense Against the Dark Arts. Most of his classmates had seen this boy working alone late at night in his dormitory, and many of them had seen him practicing spells in an empty classroom. The library was nearly Maximilien’s second home——he did not have many friends, so he visited there a lot during weekends.

The boy wanted everything to be perfect. He studied hard, did physical exercises everyday, and kept a healthy diet. He was proud and stubborn, so it helped him to be perfect. Day by day, he continued to study in the library and his dorm. And as a result, he improved day by day.

He received seven Os in his examination. His grandfather and father was really glad, but they still lacked knowledge of how hard Maximilien had worked. Most things were perfect——and that’s exactly what Maximilien wanted to see. He was overjoyed to see his academic results, and the boy decided that he would even study harder afterwards. He wanted himself to be the best, though he had never spoken it out loud.

When it’s the summer before his second year, Maximilien spent tons of time reading in the library in the de Fodtoncy Estate. While his grandfather was busy showing off at friends’ houses, his father busy running the wine estate, and his mother busy visiting her own maiden family, Maximilien read, and learnt. He had briefly met his cousins for two days, and all they saw was the boy was reading whenever and wherever. Maximilien loved it, and decided to do everything well.

His knowledge of spells and potions were extending every moment. It’s no surprise that he had already became a perfectionist——because, Maximilien de Fostoncy was just born as one.
EDIT: Removed everything regarding the inheritance of titles. Although his grandfather is still called a count in the family, it’s not a real one (aka I’m too lazy to edit so many mentions of “Monsieur le Comte”) Hope this is okay, thanks for your hard work!

Just waiting to hear from a discussion regarding the question if students are allowed to inherit titles such as count. Will get back on that as soon as I receive a clear answer.

Update: You cannot gain titles of nobility per the discussion we had in staff regarding the viability of both a pureblood and a noble title. Sept. 27
Some additional information for Max: You heard the same rumours of conflict within Europe regarding the discussions on magical races and squibs. Their position in dispute, it is up to you to decide where you stand on this matter, your family and the count have certainly made up their mind.

Maximilien, on the outside, looked much more mature and serious than his peers, and seemed a person that would analyze the situation carefully. However, don’t be deceived. Deep in his heart he was a child, longing for freedom and carefreeness. He was imaginative, and full of romantic air. Daydreaming played a huge part in the boy’s life, under his mature, unmoved and uptight skin. Maximilien was a deep thinker, and seemed always down in his own thoughts, no matter he’s alone or not. He lacked family affections, that was true, but it didn’t mean that he couldn’t create a secret world of his own that he would enjoy out of nowhere.

Overall he was really good-natured, and would love to help someone in order to make everybody feel comfortable. The boy was well-mannered as well, and most people liked him. He was taught to be polite, and Maxi followed his grandfather and father’s instructions strictly. He was Maximilien René Pascal Jacques Vincent Louis de Fostoncy - he bore the de Fostoncy name on his young shoulders. He knew that least thing he wished to do was to upset his family, especially his mother. Maybe that was the reason why he hadn’t been bored of his dull life - to him, after all, blood was thicker than water.

They were exceedingly proud of themselves, especially the “de” in the family last name - “It shows history.” said Louis de Fostoncy, the current head of this honorable family. Chaos started when his sister Karen decided to marry Herbert Springhall, an Englishman. Although the despised Mister Springhall was a pureblood from a good family, his English ethnicity was not favored in the Château de Fostoncy. If it wasn’t Louis, there was a high chance that the marriage wouldn’t be successful - and therefore, their beloved heir Maximilien wouldn’t meet his future rose of his life. It was even more chaotic when Karen decided to remove the “de” in her last name - this time even Louis became mad at his favorite sister. Everything went back to normal after Karen left for London (still she removed the “de” and became Karen Fostoncy), though, and Louis had to settle down himself.

Like any other heirs of noble families, he married with his arranged wife, a beautiful young lady from another notable pureblood family in France. Not much was known of her, as this lady, the young Madame de Fostoncy back in those days, was the least person that Louis wished to mention - he loved her deeply, and he couldn’t afford the loss of her. She passed away when giving birth to their only son Vincent, whom she named after her own father. Vince, as what she had always called yonder tenderly when she was alive and pregnant, grew up motherless.

Vincent’s life was just like his father’s. Accepted into Beauxbatons, graduated as a straight O student, got married with a woman that he had never met properly before eighteen - he went on the same path as Louis’s. Only, he was all alone, without a tender mother or a loving sister. And as a result, he became a solitary and unsociable person. His gorgeous wife, Mélanie Janvaque, was adored by many people at that time, and Vincent was regarded as extremely lucky. They were a loving couple to others, with wealth and youth - really, how could you ask for more?

Only Mélanie herself knew how unhappy she was. Vincent had formed a careless personality, self entered and not caring for anyone else. She had hardly smiled after marrying into the de Fostoncy family. The life was dull, and Louis was extremely strict to his daughter in law. “Take care of Madame.” Everybody said so. Mélanie, the wavy haired woman knew that she did not need to be taken care of like a little baby - she just needed some time alone. Some time that she could express herself freely. She had given up her long loved drawing career, as well as music - she was quite a good singer in her youth. But, really, a painter or a musician? No, the young Madame de Fostoncy was not expected to become either of these two. Instead, she was expected to bring a heir to the family.

And, to everyone’s delight, she did.

part 2. after the night of march 10th 2008
Maximilien came to life on a serene and beautiful night of March 10th. His full name was pretty long — Maximilien René Pascal Jacques Vincent Louis de Fostoncy. His birth was fairly welcomed by the pureblood society in France, as it meant that the noble house of de Fostoncy had successfully passed the blood down to the next generation.

The new boy’s name achieved the usual standards of the family - apart from the family name, six names in total. Maximilien, meant “the greatest”, as the heir of this honorable family should always be the best. René, meant “reborn”, in hope that the boy would bring new achievements like his ancestors did. Pascal, meant “Easter child”, since Mélanie had always had a strong belief that her son would be born sometime near the Easter holidays. Jacques, meant “he who supplants” - associated with victory. Vincent, his father’s name. And finally, Louis, his grandfather’s.

It was a tradition to keep the heir’s last two middle names are the same as his father and grandfather’s first name - and that’s how young Maximilien had Vincent and Louis in his names. In his family he was strictly called “Maximilien” and only “Maximilien”, however he would introduce himself to peers as “Maxi”. Though don’t try to call him “Max”. The boy would get annoyed surely, as he disliked the masculine sound. It didn’t fit his rather skinny figure, he knew it.

Maximilien was taught to call his grandfather “Monsieur le Comte”, a title Louis gave to himself (which was obviously cool and honorable in his mind) and his father “Monsieur le Chevalier” rather than “grandfather” and “father”.

With messy dark brown hair and dark grey eyes instead of the de Fostoncy family’s curly golden brown hair, he was more like a member of the Janvaque family.

To him, Maximilien was not a boy — but an item to show off to relatives and friends.

People always liked him — he could easily be the teacher’s pet, however his personality made him generally quiet and humble.

However, when his mother tried to put on the fancy clothes for him, something strange happened — although all the outfits were made according to his height and weight, they were just too big. They tried several times, but every time the outfit became ill fitting. Finally the adults realized that it was because their heir’s magic had surfaced. They gave up, and the boy was not taken to large balls until he was six.
EDIT: noticed that there’s an unfinished paragraph (the “behind the names” one) and have edited to finish it up and decided to switch the order of two middle names (“Pascal” and “Jacques”).

Name: Beelzebub Leloup
Status: Muggleborn
School: Beauxbatons
Year: Third year

Appearance: Due to lots of heavy lifting in his later childhood, he has formed rather muscular arms and broad shoulders. rather tall for his age. He has heterochromia, which gives him two different eye colours. His right eye is a dark shade of blue and his left is dark brown. Short slightly curly, wavey brown hair accentuates his rather pale complexion. In the back of his neck, he has a small X-like scar that he got due to falling over and hitting the edge of a table.
Faceclaim : Henry Cavill (young ofcourse...)

Personality: Beelzebub is a flirt with a cheerful smile. But behind that, there lies a certain slyness. He's humble about the way he looks yet he's aware that he's goodlooking. He's not really great at making friends which makes him come off as weird or awkward. He doesn't like to talk much. Instead, he focuses on music. With him, he usually carries an acoustic guitar. One of the things that girls usually swoon by. Musicians are h o t.
History: Beelzebub isn't actually French. He's Belgian. Born in the capital, Brussels, from his loving and hardworking Muggle parents. She, a beautiful redhead, Elisabeth Rosendaal. His father, a dark haired stunner with chocolate coloured eyes, Lucifer Leloup.

They both were ordinairy but exceptional in skill. Elisabeth was rather shy about her looks. Not sure when others were making fun of her, or when they were serious. It made her quite humble and thanks to her red hair, a colourful wallflower. Not only in her looks was she beautiful, but the way she could bake was something that couldn't go unnoticed aswell. Her parents were dedicated workfolk that kept their bakery running day and night and as she grew older, the tasks became heavier and the hours she spent in the kitchen multiplied. Elisabeth was exhausted every morning but she soon became a pro. As the months passed, she swore an oath to herself: 'I'm not going to do this for the rest of my life...But while I'm at it... I'll give it my best.' Elisabeth was a hard worker and kept to herself. Between the éclairs and cream puffs, she didn't have eyes for anything else but the money that was rolling in so she could someday move out and try something new.

Beelzebubs father, Lucifer, was an odd one out. He was pretty goodlooking except his social skills were rusty as can be. He wasn't great with his hands as he had a job as an accountant from a local company that sold vacuumcleaners. Collecting receipts and putting them in files to then calculate taxes... A boring way to earn money but he was good at it. Numbers were his ... well... thing. While others had trouble with math, Lucifer had a feeling for them. A sense of judgement. They were his safe haven. However, such a brain needed to take a break every so often. And where else would be a better place to do so than at a local bakery with a repuation of having the most finest of products in the entire neighbourhood. Dressed in a business suit he met his future wife, Elisabeth. Enchanted by her talent for creating delicous sweet bliss, he soon started to fall for her.

The redhead was hesitant at first, intimidated by Lucifers good looks. They masked his awkwardness for a while. To her, he seemed cold and as far as she could tell, he didn't actually want to be there, eating her desserts. But then, when he thanked her and complimented her for her sevrice she noticed that they weren't that different. That he was actually a warm person. She then too, fell in love with him.

They soon got married as things went pretty fast back then. Elisabeth and Lucifer both left their former workplaces and set up a bakery together. She did the social part and the baking. He did the money counting and calculating their taxes. He became their own personal accountant. Together, they got a son, Beelzebub. Lucifers family had a knack for strange mythological names and with Elisabeths permission, and enthusiasm for new things, their first and only son came to carry the name Beelzebub. Beel for short.
During his youngest childhood years, he helped out his mother in the shop and attending customers. Of course, only until he had more muscle, he could only carefully carry orders over and back. His mother added a cafeteria to the shop and so clients could do their groceryshopping, but then drink a cup of coffee, early in the morning, to slowely awaken.
At the age of 10, his mother called him over, asking him to bring a bag of flower from the back of their establishment. As she was so busy, she had forgotten that their last bag was placed on a shelve somewhere just out of Beels reach. Beel didn't take any chances and pulled up a chair to gently pluck it with his rather strong arms for a child his age. The chair he used wasn't particularry steady and Beel knew. He sensed it in his legs as his feet slightly wobbled. His gaze dropped down but that was a wrong move. Losing his balance, he fell to the hard floor. Yet... the pain never came. As he had his eyes pinched closed, he felt as if he was floating, slowely drifting closer to the tiled floor. His mother heard the wooden stool hitting the ground, the wobbly culprit, dropped out of its hinges. Panicked and confused by her child being perfectly fine, she knew that something extraordinairy had happened infront of her eyes. Her son was more than just a bakerboy. A drop that high would've definitely given him a serious injury and yet.. he survived.

The months after the incident, the Leloup family continued their usual routine and the strange incident was briefly forgotten... Until a beautiful letter flew into their mailbox, adressed to Beelzebub. Puzzled Beel opened the letter, together with his parents, letting their eyes read and read again. It didn't make much sense to them. Was this a prank? His father chuckled and nearly tossed the stationery away, calling it rubbish but soon a Professor came to introduce them to the wonderful world of magic and wizardy. A place they had never heard of before. Only in fairytales they'd speak of things like these. However, they were convinced, after a very long time of conversing during coffee break. Their lovely son was special and he was set for more great things than they could ever dare imagine.

Born from two good looking parents, it's quite obvious why Beel is so attractive. He doesn't have his mothers lovely red hair but he does have her charming smile. It's so genuine and bright. When he started to finally grow his own personality, his mother noticed how he could naturally make her day. One day she was having a rough time. Elizabeth couldn't put her finger on what exactly was ruining her day. Maybe it was the dough that felt different in her hands. Maybe it was something Lucifer said earlier that day before he went to sit behind his desk. Her mood was ruined. Handling the croissants in a rougher way than her usual gentle lady touch, Beel knew something was up. His mother was cheerful by nature, even though she was rather shy. Offering her a helping hand, her blue eyes locked with his for a brief moment. Beelzebub made a funny remark, something about the croissants looking like flexing, pale crabs. And ofcourse he had to perform what he was talking about, to her.
Arching his arms infront of him, balling his fists, putting on a serious frown... It made his mother burtst out in laughter. The coldness that once overcame her immediately melted away by her sons cheerful personality. For a while she had been afraid that Beel would turn out to be like her father. Socially awkward and an inward personality. But seeing him flouritsh. Seeing Beelzebubs playful side, gave her hope for the future.
The following years he became more confident about who he was. The young mothers who came for a drink with their daughters were quickly intrigued by the young boy. His humble yet bright smile, combined with his rather athletic build would even make the oldest heart skip a beat. The younger girls would, or, stare for too long, or they turned their head away, turning red as they did.
His father was worried that their son wouldn't have an interesting childhood next to kneading dough and an once-in-a-while-spicy-dad-and-son-math moment. Beel sadly didn't have the same numberbrain his dad had. Lucifer eventually had peace with it. Even though his son wasn't great at nubmers, he did seem to have a knack for music. Setting him up to do acoustic guitar lessons, Beel soon found a new way to express himself. Through song and sound.
After practicing for weeks, he finally started to get the hang of it and even combined it by his rather warm, sweet voice. The clients that came back every week always looked forward to Beels small performances. It was good for him, good for them and especially good for becoming a more popular establishment.

Growing up in a family which lives of profits of bread and sugarry sweets, Beel grew up to be quite a strong lad. To carry around bags of flour and to help out in general behind the scenes of the bakery, he was quite handy. Not only his arms but also his legs had turned into quite a muscular set of limbs. As said before, his shoulders had gotten more broad and wide due to the daily heavy lifting.
Even small things that turned into routines like sliding bread in the oh so hot oven had given his muscles quite a work out. Beel wasn't born strong. He soon came to realise that being strong would increase his workload and lessen that of his mother. Father was kinda muscular but he would never be as muscular and broad like his own son. Not that Lucifer minded. He was glad to see that Beelzebub found pleasure in working in the bakery.
Just like Lucifer helped out with guitarlessons, he also decided to give the young lad his own small work out bench. Nothing too big. Just a few heavy weights and a punching bag. Beel was flattered and glad that his father supported him. After getting some pats on the back, he happily got to work and slowely gaining more muscle. This had caused him to grow broad yet surprisingly, his arms didn't grow really fat. He turned into an atheltic build lad which was perfectly balanced. No way would he ever look like the freakishly bodytypes of bodybuilders. They changed their bodies for different reasons than Beels. As you can't skip leg day, Beel had saved enough money for his own bicycle. Even if he did help out alot in the bakery, he also had to go to Muggle school. The fastest way was by bike. Brussels has quite some steep hills and mounting those requires quite some wellformed calves. After a month or two, his legs had gotten used to riding up and down the chaotic city structure. Nearly no longer breaking a sweat he could move around with ease. Going up and down to a local grocery store was no problem.
When he got in Beauxbatons, he made use of his muscular advantage to save those that don't have a voice of their own. Beel wasn't the best at making friends, but he didn't like bullies. That too became sort of a big deal for him. He didn't see himself as better than others just because he was strong. But he would use it against those that did think like that. Not only working out helped out to keep your strentgh. A balanced meal made a big difference as well. The young muggleborn didn't like anything with too much sugar in it. Ironic. Maybe his childhood behind the counter of his family bakery had left a sugarry impression on him.

The streets of Brussels weren't the safest. Especially not by night. It happened that Beel had to pass by certain streets to get somewhere. Later in his life, the bakery he worked in had started a delivery service. And who made the deliveries? That's right. Beelzebub did. It was no problem to him. Everyday to school he liked to try different routes, figuring out which route would be the shortest. Sometime he just liked to explore since the world inside the bakery had become too small for him. He was curious by nature because of this. His hometown had a reputation of having certain gangs roaming the streets during the evening and mostly at night. These gangs weren't necesarrily out to hurt any random strangers but if you happened to run into them at the wrong time, things could get spicy.
One time, Beel was riding back home, taking a scenic route. The moon was out and due to lingering clouds in the sky, it was still hot out. One of the gangs was roaming a small alley, an alley that Beelzebub wanted to take home. Yet he got pulled from his bike. The young lad was strong and could throw a few members from his body, yet he had no idea how to tackle them. He had no strategy. And because of that, they could land a few punches on him. Grabbing a nearby heavy barrel, Beel tosses it at the thugs and ran. Black and blue he arrived home. His parents were worried sick and begged him to no longer do deliveries in the evening. Beel chuckled and waved their worries away. Why would he back away from this? He knew what he needed to fix. He had weapons but he didn't know how to use them.
After some heavy discussions with his mom and dad, especially his mom, they agreed that he could start fighting lessons. It could never hurt, right? Beel had guaranteed them that he'd only use it to defend himself, but he did ask his tutor some good techniques to strike the enemy back. The teacher appreciated his enthusiasm and after hearing Beelzebubs motivations to fight, he couldn't be happier to help him out. But just like his mother, the tutor pressed him on the fact to only use the attack-techniques when he got cornered. Other times he could only use ways to defend himself. It took quite some time to perfect his technique. His big arms were hard to control. Fighting wasn't just kicking in the air or breaking someones nose. It needed finess and patience. When he finally managed to succeed, the gangs in the streets knew one fellah they didn't wanted to screw with. The Iron Tank called Beelzebub Leloup.

Being the child of muggles, perhaps Beel did not feel as appreciated as some of the other kids considering the larger amount of the student body being descendants of pureblood lines. Maybe this allowed him to sympathise a little better with the various "hybrid outcasts" of wizarding society that were considered less than their pureblood counterparts. Or perhaps he had something to prove, how he did belong with the purebloods and gave little regard to the weak at the bottom of society. It was up to him to decide.

Lovely Creature Application:

Young, exceeding handsome, distracting, hot, beautiful; all words used to describe Lucas Alexander Dragamior.

One look at his face and anyone, young or old, male or female, will be captivated. Two glowing, midnight blue orbs set perfectly in the middle of his face. Slightly hooded and symmetrically almond-shaped, these navy sapphires hold enough knowledge, cunning and beauty to distract any of his opponents on the racecourse. All it takes is a flick of his eyelid, otherwise known as a wink, to add one more admirer to the list and cross off the name of an opponent on the other list.

His adoring fans cheer him on as the blue-eyed beauty races ahead of his opponents, dodging obstacles and with a slight smirk or wink, sending fellow racers off course. His mouth, another weapon, can speak words that hurt like a dagger or set fire to one's heart. Smooth, heart-shaped, and a light, nudy-pink, the boy has carefully crafted a trademark smirk, grin and scowl with those fine lips of his. Each expression, carefully sculpted for maximum impact.

Next is the jawline, sharp and deeply set, Lucas's facial features are mature compared to others of his age. Sharp as a knife and coated by creamy, pale skin that never dries out or breaks out, Lucas was clearly blessed by the genetic gods.

His dirty blonde hair usually kept somewhat messy, is envied by many males and even females. Romantic companions love to run there hands through the sandy, silky smooth hair.

Now here is the thing, Lucas knows he is charming, knows he is attractive, and makes games out of others' feelings for him. The Dragamior boy has never had a real crush, never truly cared about a partner. A mix of personal pressure to be popular, special, and familial pressure to carry the Dragamior name with dignity and pride causes him to act against those ideas by embodying the persona of a party boy and player.

Maybe one day Lucas will meet someone who shows him the error of his ways, that love is not a game and while he can come out of the round unscathed and grinning like a schoolboy, others do not.

At the end of the day, he feels that his contribution to the family will never be enough, so why not use his privilege and looks for fun when there is nothing better to do?

NAME | Amaury Aldéric Émilien Favreau
STATUS | Pureblood
SCHOOL | Beauxbatons
YEAR | Fourth
APPEARANCE |
Standing at 5’6” (167 cm), Amaury tends to tower over his peers, a stature well-suited to his condescending personality. His height and general lack of muscle add to his gangly appearance, although he covers it well with tailored, luxury attire and holds himself with an intimidating air of righteousness. His meticulously styled hair is a dark brown that complements his eyes and is swept up to reveal a rather pale but clear complexion. His full lips and defined jaw often hold a scowl, though occasionally present a rare, dazzling smile that may look perhaps more unnerving than comforting. A thin, faint scar runs along the inside of his right arm, an unfortunate reminder of a curse gone wrong.

PERSONALITY |
“Opposites attract” is not a phrase that could be applied to Amaury. The boy, while not unfriendly, surrounds himself with a very small circle of acquaintances who tend to reflect his own personality: the purebloods, the duellists, the snobs. But perhaps less obvious in his choice of associations is his fierce loyalty. He feels a strong sense of connection to his family, prioritizing blood over all else, often ready to make sacrifices for the people he grew up admiring and even, perhaps, loving. Very few people outside of his kin and a select few professors have had the dignity of earning Amaury's loyalty and respect. To those unworthy of Amaury's attention, he is nothing short of a prick: insulting, stuck-up, insufferable in his arrogance, although one would never be able to tell by his mannerisms in public, as he presents a cool, calm, and charming exterior to the public eye.

HISTORY |
Well into the day of February 8, 2006, Sylviane Favreau was born in a small village in the mountains of northern France. Thirteen minutes later, a boy appeared, to be christened Amaury Aldéric Émilien Favreau. Although he was blissfully unaware of his future, Amaury had been born to one Lucille Alélie Favreau (née Beaufort) and her husband, Aldéric-- and consequently inherited the authority of the two most powerful Pureblood families known to France. The Beauforts and Favreaus had long been nearly the only proper, well-known Pureblood families in the area of Neufchâteau; as such, the union of Aldéric and Lucille came of no surprise to the community. The two bloodlines had been intertwined long prior to the marriage of Amaury’s parents due to their honorable blood status, and they now welcomed each other with open arms.

The Favreau manner soon became filled with Amaury, Sylviane, and their two siblings, Nicolette and Remy. Yet, despite a house full of young children, Aldéric and Lucille ran a tight ship. There was to be no rowdiness or rebellion, although not for a lack of trying on Amaury’s part. The boy’s younger years were rife with attempts at mischief, from sneaking out at night with his twin to pranking his younger brother. Any insubordination, however, was quickly snuffed, instead replaced by the oft-repeated lecture of behavior reflecting their status. And their status, of course, was no less than wizarding royalty. The four children grew close amongst the firm parenting and precarious household, though none closer that Amaury and Sylvie.

And while the twins were undoubtedly close, the two were also rather competitive. The Favreaus were winners, of course, even amongst themselves. So when Sylvie, age six, magically combusted her textbook in a fit of rage, Amaury was dismayed. Surely Sylvie would gain the respect of their parents, more so than he ever could-- after all, she was the one showing magic. So, seething from this loss, Amaury spent the rest of the lesson fuming-- rather like Sylvie’s book. Though he faked paying attention, the majority of his focus was spent on staring Sylvie down, though the girl likely didn’t notice. The lesson was drawing to a close when, abruptly, Sylvie’s hair turned a bright chartreuse-- inadvertently at the hands of Amaury. It was rather sensical that the twins would have shown traces of magic on the same day, the family thought.

From a young age, the children were taught proper table manners, party etiquette, and more-- everything necessary for the heirs of a wealthy bloodline to uphold their proper facade. They were expected to act in a manner demanded by their prestige. When not learning social cues or politics, the Favreaus firmly believed in the academic education of their children, maintaining that knowledge was the path to success. The children were strictly educated daily through a host of private tutors. Prior to their years at Beauxbatons, they were taught basic maths, as well as French, English and smatterings of other languages, including a bit Latin and even basic LSF.

At Beauxbatons, Amaury received the same knowledge as many other students. Shortly after Amaury’s induction into the prestigious wizarding school, though, he took a particular liking to spells and jinxing. He much preferred the dignified form magical combat to traditional fisticuffs, and quickly picked up the art of duelling, often studying charms and hexes on his own time rather than completing his assignments. This led to quite a bit of heat from his parents, but of course, he was never one to let someone stand in his way, however hard they may try.

Amaury drew looks; this, he knew well, because his own looks were fit for a king. And lucky that was, because amongst their French community, the Favreaus were royalty-- at least, so they assumed of themselves. Never did they shy away from parties, showing off their children, or splurging on the latest fashion trends, and Amaury was more often than not on the receiving end of these luxuries. Their appearance reflected their status-- that was what their parents had told them, what their parents’ parents had told them. Fashion was not for the lowly, the commoners. And so Amaury had been styled, primped, and preened since the day he was born, always prepared to be shown off like the righteous Pureblood he was. God forbid he make a complete embarrassment of the family by appearing in unfitted clothing or, god forbid, wrinkles. Their reputation would be scorned for eternity-- there would be no recovery from a fashion faux pas.

Of course, it helped that the Favreaus and Beauforts were, and always had been, a family of good genes, and not just the wizarding ones. Lucille Favreau was gorgeous, and Aldéric was stunningly handsome. It was no surprise, then, that Amaury and his twin inherited the genes they did. And there was no question where Amaury got his genes from. The sharp jawline, the fair skin, and the full lips were all traits passed on from his mother, although his stature, dark hair, and deep brown eyes were all very clearly inherited from his father. His often quite intense stare and the way he held himself with poise and presence, often set people off, but nonetheless was oddly compelling, almost magnetising. It was not difficult, then, to charm the crowds-- they followed him blindly, entranced by his beauty and wiles.

His dress, too, was something to admire. It wasn’t as though he was fashionable, per se-- he didn’t go shopping for new outfits, and he certainly didn’t play dress-up in the mirror-- he simply always looked his best. With his hair meticulously styled to look as though it wasn’t styled in the least; clothes perfectly tailored to fit his tall, slender frame; and a jacket that likely cost more than his entire private tuition, although it wasn’t as though he himself had paid for it; Amaury’s bouts into the town never failed to draw a few stares-- primarily from the ladies of the town, but amongst the onlookers, there was no shortage of men as well.

YEAR TWO | CHARMER
Reducio
Amaury could do nothing if not charm a room. The family name was simply too important to disgrace with a misspoken word or half-hearted compliment. It was all or nothing for Amaury’s family, and as such, from the moment he could talk and walk, his parents would teach him the ways of the world alongside his brother and sisters-- social etiquette, manners, and, of course, manipulation. By the time he was seven, he knew how to ballroom dance. By nine, he could host a small party, greeting his guests with a firm handshake, eye contact, and a sickeningly sweet smile. And by the ripe age of eleven years old, his charm was simply intoxicating, leaving none immune to his childish smile and thorough manners. Though he matched the mannerisms of his family when they were alone-- cold, quiet, and aloof-- by the time he left home for Beauxbatons, he was adept at covering up his intimidating demeanor and plastering on a manufactured smile within a moment’s notice. He was unstoppable when he paired his easy smile with tossing a few well-timed compliments and flattering the enemy-- for, of course, to the Favreaus, they were all enemies. And the Favreaus lived their life by keeping their enemies closer.

And close, they were. The Favreaus had a particular penchant for throwing parties: dinner parties, tea parties, cocktail parties-- if there were drinks, there were Favreaus. And the extravagant amount of parties in the Favreau manner were, of course, the perfect outlet for Amaury’s charm. By the time he was ten, he knew just how to play the room, using an equal mix of diplomacy and flattery to get his way. He held himself with an air of grace, hoping to impress his elders and impress upon them the fine stature of the House Favreau. The Favreaus were not unworthy hosts; they were not mere wizards; they were not just some family. No, they were Purebloods-- affluent and dignified, and their behavior, naturally, must reflect such eminence.

And where Amaury went, his charm only followed. Beauxbatons was not ready for 115 pounds of pure charisma, and Amaury was completely ready to use that to his advantage. For he had realised that smiles were not only useful for upholding the family’s reputation; his wiles could also be particularly useful in social manipulation, buttering up his mark until he was ready to make a move. While he spent his off-time practicing charms and jinxes rather than on his assignments, he would simply beseech them to write it off, or struck a deal with his professors that often worked out better for him than it did for them. For, even the most wiley of professors were not immune to the charms of one Amaury Favreau.

YEAR THREE | PERFECTIONIST
Reducio
Amaury couldn’t stand to lose. He hated the feeling, hated the judgement, hated everything about it. He wasn’t a sore loser, of course-- he took his defeats with grace, putting on a show of sportsmanship. Only a disgrace to the family would throw a fit over losing-- but then, only a disgrace to the family would lose in the first place. He would fight to the ends of the earth to secure a victory, as his siblings well knew. But as competitive as Amaury was at home, it was nothing remotely comparable to his attitude on the duelling stage.

From the moment the boy was introduced to the respectable yet aggressive sport of magical duelling, early in his first year at Beauxbatons, Amaury was absolutely enthralled-- caught hook, line, and sinker. The admirable sport had all the thrill and bragging rights of traditional fisticuffs, and the competition and victories of broom racing, but with none of the physical aggression and the stupid outfits. No, when duelling, Amaury could fight, legally and acceptably, with his favorite weapon-- his wand, and magic.

And so Amaury, from the moment he got his hands on a spellbook, threw himself in, head-first, to duelling. It was perhaps nearly an obsession, but absolutely nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of him and his sport. And although he wasn’t much for school, he found a passion in learning new spells, jinxes, and hexes he could use to destroy his opponents. He perused anything he could get his hands on-- mostly textbooks, old and new-- long into the night, evading the responsibilities of his assignments. They weren’t worth his time anyway, he told himself, as he read just one more chapter under the covers.

Magic came easily to him, he realised as spells flew from his wand without a hitch time after time. But nonetheless, he practiced. He practiced, and practiced, and practiced until he thought his wand might break, at which point he stopped, because god knew his wand was the most valuable thing he owned. He practiced at home, he practiced in class, he practiced in between classes. He expected nothing less than absolute perfection and, soon, so did his family. He took it upon himself to become a world-class dueller, for nothing else would suffice. Not a single spell would fail; not a single spell would miss. That was the expectation, and that was the undeniable result of Amaury’s hard work.

YEAR FOUR | EVASIVE MANEUVERS
Reducio
Amaury had a tendency to get in over his head. Always reading ahead in his spell textbooks, practicing charms and hexes that were perhaps a bit too difficult for a wizard of his young age. Nevertheless, warnings from friends, professors, family, against such activities, warnings in his best interest, still would not deter him from building his arsenal of spells, one large step towards becoming the greatest dueller of his time. And so he would practice such spells perhaps a little recklessly, such spells much too unfit for such a young wizard to know in theory, let alone use in practice.

And of such unprotected and advanced practice came predictable, yet unavoidable disaster. A poor combination: an old book, a difficult incantation, a backfired curse. Disaster; a searing pain slicing through Amaury’s arm, fuzzing his brain, his vision; red, warm, wet. Pain in his knees as he dropped to the stone floor. Black, quiet, then light again, and a scream, an incantation-- ferula. A servant or a parent, Amaury didn’t know, couldn’t tell. Bandages flew around his arm, cinching tightly to hold in the blood seeping out. Black again. Light again, but this time he was on his back. A ceaseless sting of beratings from his parents, his sister’s face, his brother’s face, his twin’s face. A burning pain in his right arm, his forearm. Bandages still cinched tightly around the area. Black again.

Two years later, the scar still remained. A thin, faint line of raised skin, stretching six and a half centimeters down the inside of his right forearm. It was hard to notice unless one looked closely, although Amaury never let anyone get close enough to quite make it out clearly. But even if it wasn't obvious to outsiders, Amaury was painfully aware of its presence, taking it as a warning. The warning, though, was not of getting ahead of himself, of biting off more than he could chew. No, contrary to expectations, the warning was this: to stay on his toes. To stay on his toes to know his abilities, know his limits. To stay on his toes to avoid stray spells, or non-stray spells that were specifically aimed at him.

Although his façade claimed he could take a hit, he was fully aware of his weak and lean stature, so he relied on his quick dodges and powerful spells to keep him standing. And as he duelled, as he practiced, he only got quicker, faster, lighter on his toes-- his dodges became more anticipated, his evasions became more fluid, and he was nearly untouchable.
