Character Backstory
Reducio
Alexander Zolotov was born into a pureblood wizarding family originally from Russia. His family moved to Britain when he was still a baby, so he has very little memory or connection to his birthplace and usually identifies himself as British when asked. He was raised in a strict but quiet household that valued tradition, discipline, and emotional control. Because of this upbringing, Alexander learned early to observe more than he spoke, carefully analyzing people and situations before ever responding. His childhood followed a strict routine. Lessons, manners, and basic magical theory were part of everyday life, and he was expected to learn quickly and correctly. Mistakes weren’t usually met with anger, but they weren’t softened either, just corrected and moved past. Praise was uncommon, so he grew up used to doing things right without needing recognition.
Most of his time was spent inside the family home, usually in quiet rooms or libraries, reading whatever he could find on magic and history. He didn’t spend much time around other children, so social situations outside the house often felt unfamiliar or draining.
Even though his upbringing was strict, it gave him a strong academic base and early interest in magic. At the same time, it left him unsure of himself in some ways, especially when it came to understanding who he is outside of what was expected of him.

First Instance of Magic:

Alexander was eight years old when he first experienced accidental magic. He was exploring a less-familiar section of his family’s castle when, without warning, he stepped through what seemed to be solid flooring. He fell a short distance and landed on the ground below. Although he was not physically injured, the sudden drop frightened him badly, and he began to cry from shock and confusion.
His parents quickly found him and rushed to his side, extremely worried at first but relieved to see that he was unharmed. The incident was later recognized as Alexander’s first display of accidental magic, likely triggered by instinctive protection and emotional stress.
Alexander has always been considered a late bloomer in terms of magical expression, but also quietly gifted. Those close to him believe his magic is strong but restrained, as if contained within an “inner barrier” he has not yet learned how to fully release or control.

Liron's Character Page
Special Race: Seer
꒷꒦︶꒷꒦︶ ๋ ࣭ ⭑꒷꒦
Besides being notorious for their medical practices in Japan, the Aceso bloodline has a strong history of seers; in fact, being a seer is thought to be a blessing and the highest honour one could receive. They run achieving a seer in each generation like a business. Being a pureblooded family after all, each match for their descendants is handpicked, pureblooded, and has a seer in their bloodline. The more recent, the better. That is Liron’s mother's side of the family; she knows of such beliefs in her family, but like most of their rules and routines, she never cared much for them. However, that is how she ended up being married off to Liron’s father all the way in Greece. On his side of the family, the last seer was generations long gone, but nevertheless, the recessive gene held on. With a history of a seer being so distant, typically, this sort of match would be unfavourable for the Aceso bloodline. Nonetheless, the wealth and connections the Agnodice family promised were good enough to marry off the disgraced daughter of the family Aceso. As soon as she was married off, Liron's mother cut ties with her family [ Not that they were overly eager to stay in touch either ], and so were gone the traditions of seeking out a seer.
At first, a child was never in question, but as love bloomed, soon they were given the gift of Liron Aceso, their son and unbeknownst to them, this generation's Aceso Seer. Physically, nothing was noticeable, as what typically happens for seers, and with Liron's hair already being a bright yellow, it’d be years till you could really tell otherwise. Mentally though? That’s another story. His seer qualities manifested very early on, things that would have delighted the Aceso family if they were around. Even as a kid, he had the most vivid dreams, ones he’d spend his morning sharing with his mother.
“You always know just what to say.”
A phrase he would hear a lot, especially when working with the kids at his parents' practice. How could he explain to others that sometimes when many different words sit at the edge of his tongue, certain ones have just that pull to them that seem to work out the situation at hand for him. He’d become the hub for advice or help whenever his mother was busy for the kids. He’d always know where to look or show up just in time to provide aid.
Liron thanks his intuition for the chance meeting of his dear childhood friend. An unusual deviation from his usual morning walk, and suddenly he found himself tending to a crying young boy. It is also why Liron’s father often insists he should take an interest in the Agnodice business due to his ‘eye for detail’ and ‘pattern recognition skills’.
“You have a good head on your shoulders, my boy.”
One day, Liron will have the heart to tell him he is not interested in that line of work.
It is unknown to anyone in the small, warm family that Liron is a seer. And it will be a while till anyone does.
Character Backstory
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ .
Liron was brought up in a warm and loving home. Despite both of his parents being from pureblood bloodlines, they didn’t share their ideals, his mother much more outwardly than his father. Both of his parents specialized in medicine, muggle and magical alike. They owned a medical practice of their own in Greece. Attached to his mother’s hip, Liron grew up around both muggle and magic medicine. Within him, she instilled values of patience and empathy, and before he could even speak, he was eager to help her in her work. His mother worked with sick children, typically those orphaned or in poor living conditions, so from the very beginning, Liron knew how fortunate his situation was, as well as having a noble role model to look up to. His father managed magical ingredients and common potions; he taught Liron about them from time to time, as well as bookkeeping and how to run a successful business. Although very useful and grateful for his father's business prowess, Liron more often than not much preferred the humanitarian and medicinal side of his mother's work. Along with his loving family, he has his childhood friend, Strike, whom he cherishes deeply. His father and Strike's parents are business partners in a way, so they’ve grown up together, and Liron basically considers Strike family. They take yearly trips to London over the summers together, too! Liron goes with his father as his mother stays behind. She says it’s because his father’s side of the family that lives there doesn't like her very much. Although Liron never had any issues, whenever they did go to London, they’d stay over at his cousin's house. [ though he’d much more accurately equate it to a mansion ] Liron is quite fond of his younger cousin Finlo; the boy seems to idolize him, though Liron was unsure what he did to acquire such adoration.
About a year before his acceptance, he was sent to go live with his cousins in London. According to his father, their medical practice was going through a rough patch and, not wanting the instability to affect Liron’s studies, it would be better if he stayed with the extended family he was familiar with. Something told Liron that his father wasn’t being all that truthful. Despite having many questions, most of which were dodged, being the dutiful son he is, Liron abided by his parents' wishes without much protest. Though after he was relocated, communication with his parents became sparse, vague letters at best. With little communication with his family, he enters his first year at Hogwarts with much bigger worries than a new school.

First Instance of Magic
Age 7 - London
“Careful… I have a bad feeling about this.” Liron quietly chides Strike. They'd found themselves on the rooftop to watch the sunset. The London skyline was quite beautiful from here. It took some convincing, but they both were sitting, legs dangling off the edge of the building. The younger boy beside Liron stood up, balancing on the edge, testing Liron’s poor heart.
“Don't worry, I do this stuff all the time for training. But look at how pretty!” Liron shakes his head before his eyes momentarily leave his friends’ reckless actions to take in the pinks and indigos of the setting sun. Big mistake. Liron moved before his friend could even cry out. His hand grabbed the other’s hand to no avail; the momentum overtook both of them. Before they knew it, they were free-falling down the side of the building
“LIRON!!” The fear in Strike's voice shook Liron out of his daze. Instinctively, he pulled the young boy in, as if hoping to break the others' fall with his own body. But from this height, survival seemed slim. Panic began to set in, yet Liron still wished to comfort the other.
“I-it's okay, I’ve got you,” was all he managed to answer as he held Strike close. The winds around them were bitter and cold, but their bodies next to each other were warm. Liron looked at the setting sun over the boy's curly blonde hair. He wondered, is this how the sun felt as it too dipped below the horizon? He closed his eyes, bracing for impact, his only wish? To laugh with his mother one more time. And then everything went dark.
When Liron came to, he found himself in a hospital bed and a blonde head of hair resting at his side.
“S-strike?”
...
Liron later found out their fall had been slowed by a warm gust of upward wind. Liron had taken the brunt force of the leftover fall. Liron passed out due to pain; nothing broken that magic couldn’t fix, and Strike came out unscathed from the whole ordeal. He’s the one who went and got the parents to get Liron help.

The Heritage and Origins of the Families
The Sterling family (The Father's Side)
For the Sterlings, good manners, politeness and not brute force are important
The great-great-great-grandfather did not pass the family legacy on to his son because the boy was a Squib; he refused to take an interest in a son he viewed as a source of shame.
He married a witch who was not pure-blood and who became a history teacher. They had a son, but sadly, the parents died in a fire shortly after his birth. The boy was raised by his maternal aunt; after his first magical accident, his paternal uncle took him in—as an orphaned nephew in need of his help.
The grandfather married Katherine, and they had two children: Alice Sterling and Antoine Sterling.
The Adelaïde family (The Mother's Side)
Rosselia’s mother (a Pure-blood) comes from the Adelaide family, a respected and rich Pure-blood lineage. This family folow scrupulously traditional French customs and high-society etiquette. For generations, they have been well-now for their mastery of classical disciplines: cooking, art, history, and music..
Origin of the names The name Adélaïde come most of it from from the Germanic name *Adalheidis*. It is composed of "adal" (meaning noble) and "heid" (meaning lineage or rank). Thus, the name means "of noble lineage
Requirement to receive the inheritance: Every family member is required to swear sacred oaths. Upon honoring these commitments, they receive the share of the family fortune to which they are entitled based on their generation.
The rite of passage: The family observes a number of traditions. One of the most important requires individuals to leave their parents' home at the age of twenty for a period of five years; this teaches them to live independently. This tradition determines whether they possess the character needed to preserve the family legacy during times of crisis, or the strength required to survive without any fortune whatsoever. "A fundamental philosophy, passed down through generations, states: "Living simply is an effective lesson."
Consequences of failure: If a member is deemed unfit to receive the inheritance, their rights are transferred directly to their child—who must then strictly abide by family rules for a period of five years. The parent who has suffered such a setback must either live in poverty or work ceaselessly to make a living; however, if their own father is still alive, he might perhaps give them a second chance by passing on his personal share of the fortune.

I was 7 years old. My mother had given me an exercise: to hold a plate on my head. I was doing my best, but I lost control. The plate was going to fall. Quickly i closed my eyes; I was scared because I knew Mom was going to punish me, and I couldn't hear the plate falling. I opened my eyes and saw the plate floating. Mom had also seen the plate floating. I managed to grab it just after it suddenly stopped floating.
I want to go to second year if i am not clear

- I am sorry, I am confused about what informations you want to be changed in your profile card. Could you precise "I want X to be changed to X" for each of the points mentioned above? Additionally, we cannot have dual nationality, so if that was what you had in mind, you would need to pick one!
- Whatever nationality you chose, it needs to be reflected in your backstory, so please make it make sense! (ie. Nationality is "french", so she needs to be born in France and have moved to England before the age of 7).
- Could you precise her parent's bloodstatus?
- Your trunk needs to be a separate post in your encyclopedia. Please create it and ensure it follows our trunk rules.
- Your backstory in your encyclopedia is not the same as the one in your application! Please make sure they are the same, with the new edits.
- If you wish to become a second year next year, then your date of birth should be between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, please edit it accordingly or let me know if you would like to remain a year back.
STATUS: Pending, Meiyu, 1st July.
- Please follow the format of the index registration, embedding things into multiple reducios makes it difficult to read.
- Please clarify Rosselia's mother's blood status.
- Rosselia's birthday in the encyclopaedia should match what we do onsite. For Rosselia to be a first year, she would need to be born between 1st September 2013 to 31st August 2014, if you would like her to be a second year, it should be between 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015
- If you wish to become a second year next year, then your date of birth should be between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, please edit it accordingly or let me know if you would like to remain a year back.
STATUS: Pending, Malaika, July 2nd.
- As said above, please remove the reducios from your backstory's reducio! You can separate them by spaces if you want it to be more breathable, but embedded reducios makes it hard to read.
- Your nationality will be changed to France.
- Just a note, it is not possible for your character to go to Beauxbâtons. To have a character that goes to other schools (Durmstrang, Tenusa, etc), you would need to create an iNPC! You must however wait 6 months from the date of your registration to be able to create one.
- Your date of birth is fine as it is right now (02 Oct 2013) if you want her to be a second year.
- Could you give us more informations about the 'muggle-related incident' of her grandfather?
- Your character is a wizarborn, with a halfblood father who was raised in the muggle born, and a pureblood mother. Wizarborns have the particularity of not being a "child of both worlds", and instead be solely raised in the wizarding world. Could you please add that aspect of your character's childhood in her backstory? Just a mention to affirm she was raised with little to no contact with the muggle world, making her a wizarborn and not a halfblood. If you are confused by what I mean, read this!
- Your trunk doesn't follow our trunk rules. Please remove the special fonts and colour, and ensure it follows our rules!
STATUS: Pending, Malaika, July 6th.
- The "heritage and origins of the family" section reads as 100% AI (screenshot below). As stated in the Rules section of our site, on Hio we do not allow AI, as it is a space of creative writing. Please delete it, or rewrite it in your own words. Owl me once it is done and you will be good to go, as everything else looks good!

Backstory:
Damaris Veilmont is the daughter of Renna and Tristan Vailmont—both Muggles and loving parents who were deeply devoted to one another. Tragically, however, Renna suffered complications during pregnancy that left both her and the baby in a fragile state; she passed away during childbirth, leaving the infant alone with her father. Though Tristan was devastated and deeply grieved his wife's death, he managed to carry on for the sake of his young daughter, who needed his care. He was supported by his parents—Damaris’s grandparents—who played an active role throughout her upbringing, homeschooling her and taking her to school whenever her father had to work long hours. Although Tristan never blamed Damaris for her mother's death, the little girl would sometimes blame herself during her low moments. These spells were rare, however, as her grandmother—her maternal figure—would not let her dwell on such thoughts for long, often taking her for walks or playing games in the yard to distract her. As Damaris grew, she became increasingly restless, climbing trees and running about the yard—though always alone, never with friends. This solitude prompted her to start reading the books she had at home or those her grandfather brought whenever he visited. At the age of six, she met her best friend, Shivani; the two became inseparable, and Shivani provided the spark of social life Damaris needed at the time.
First Instance of Magic:
When Damaris was a child, she had absolutely no friends; she didn't socialize with anyone because of her father. Although he was affectionate, he rarely let her go out and had her educated at home by her grandparents—though the bulk of the teaching fell to her grandmother, as her grandfather was often in poor health. Her father worked long hours and she hardly ever saw him, which made her grandmother her maternal figure and emotional anchor—especially when she was just a toddler of three. She used to take refuge in library books, reading almost all day and studying at home with zero social contact with other children her age. Sometimes she felt a twinge of curiosity—wanting to play with them in the streets and parks—but since she didn't know how to talk to kids her own age and lived only among adults, she didn't dwell on it and simply continued to seek solace in books. When she was five, some friends of her father came to the house for a reason she didn't understand.
"It's grown-up business, my dear; you'll understand when you're older" her father would tell her.
"Don't worry, Dami... just work stuff" her grandmother would add. Being only five, she didn't ask many questions and was satisfied with that—until she saw that the other adults had brought along a girl her age. The girl was hiding behind her mother's legs; she didn't seem any older—perhaps just by a few months—and Damaris even thought she looked younger because of her small stature.
"Damaris," her father called out, beckoning her to come closer. "These are friends of mine, and this is their daughter, Shivani." Damaris looked at the girl with curiosity; she had never interacted with someone her own age before. It intrigued her, yet also frightened her—she was afraid of doing something wrong. "She's the same age as you, sweetheart... you two will get along" her father reassured her, gently guiding her closer so she could greet the other girl. Her father had been so right; the two girls exchanged just a few words and became inseparable—Shivani going to Damaris’s house and vice versa. No one had ever seen the little girl so happy.
One day, while the two girls were playing in the yard at Damaris's house—running back and forth and kicking a soccer ball—Damaris got so excited that, somehow, she ended up breaking a ceramic vase that was sitting on a shelf inside the house. This gave both girls a huge scare; frightened and confused about what had just happened, Damaris ran inside and hid behind the sofa.

Weight: 110 lbs
Hair: Black/Messy
Eyes: Gray
Race: White/pale
Personality:
Sarcastic, unserious, a bit crazy, likes causing chaos
Disabilities:
ADHD
Dyslexia
Backstory:
A Muggle life, parents died, and he lives with his Aunt, a nice lady. His parents died in a car accident while going on a ski trip. To this day, River hates everything to do with skiing.
Caused mischief not enough to get him in serious trouble. Often starts fights with bullies. He gets picked on quite a lot for being parentless and weird. And he usually responds fist first. He might be small, but he hasn't lost a fight.
Got his eyebrow split trying to do a stunt on his bike, leaving a scar that splits his right eyebrow.
Got arrested once for getting caught spray-painting. Didn't get charges pressed, but got grounded for life by his Aunt who never really punishes him.
Smart usually gets good grades despite neglecting homework. Always manages to pass tests,
Plays many sports and is on his school's soccer team. Races bikes and skateboards.
Often gets into mischief, has trouble sitting still. And can't focus for too long unless it's something he really likes.
Sinks hours into video games, watches anime and movies. His favorite movie is Ready Player One. And his favorite game is Cyberpunk 2077.
His aunt is his best friend. She's late 20s and took him in after his parents died. She's funny and supportive of whatever he does. She's barely an adult and is trying to be a food influencer; she currently has 300,000 subscribers. She even gets noticed sometimes while out with River.
Acidnetal Magic:
At age 6, River had just lost his parents and was feeling immensely sad. He was too young to understand what had happened; he just knew he'd never see them again. He was sad, and angry. Why couldn't he see them? Now he was stuck at his Aunt's house. Feeling frustrated and throwing another tantrum because he couldn't see his parents, he ran around her house and stubbed his toe on a coffee table. The sudden burst of pain and anger and sadness exploded out of him, and a vase 3 feet away from him exploded into tiny glass shards everywhere. Accidentally giving him a few cuts. Aunt Jess rushed in and went pale at the sight. She didn't believe him when he said, "The thing just went boom," and it made him even more frustrated.

Born to the Muggle Marie and her husband, the wizard Septimus Delane, Lorenzo spent the first eleven years of his life frolicking the countryside and playing pirates out in the fields. He was an only child, and while that meant he was a little lonely, living on the outskirts of his small town, he was not altogether isolated, and spent much of his time as a little ringleader for the local children.
His father, who was an Auror for the Ministry of Magic, was (and is) Lorenzo's hero. Fighting evil and saving people sounded like the kind of work that mattered. And someday, Lorenzo wanted to matter like that, too.
Of course, his life took a rather tragic turn when he received the owl telling of his father's death; fighting evil had it's risks, and Lorenzo had to learn the hard way that the good guys don't always win.
His father had been killed in a duel against a deviant wizard, and died in the efforts to reign the wayward caster in, leaving his and his wife alone in the world.
... Lorenzo didn't feel so "lucky", anymore.
That day, there was a horrible storm that washed through his town. Lorenzo felt like the whole sky was crying with him. He doesn't like rain much, anymore. He feels like it must be the sky crying for someone else.
His mum, of course, tried to fill the gaps. She didn't know much about wizarding, but she tried her best to learn about it, and to support Lorenzo as he developed magic like his father.
Despite the dangers that Lorenzo knew all too well, the possibilty of death didn't sway the young wizard in the slightest; and one day, he plans to be a grand Auror, just like his dad. If only it weren't for his bad luck...

Lorenzo's first use of magic was during one of his fits, at 7.
He couldn't honestly explain what he was so angry about, but his father's death had still been so fresh, and his mother wasn't listening! The world really was out to get him!
Suddenly, before he could really comprehend what was happening, he had blown all the lightbulbs in the house.
Of course, his mum had been... excited. But Lorenzo noted that there was a wariness in her gaze. Concern, maybe?
Sometimes he still dreams about it.

Evgenia "Zhenya" Daniilovna Starkova was born Evgenia [yev-GAIN-ee-uh] Daniilovna Kazakova in Volgograd, Russia, to Yulia and Daniil Kazakov. However, two months after Evgenia's birth, her parents had a huge fight that resulted in Yulia promptly booking a flight to visit her sister in America - and taking baby Zhenya with. Daniil got home from work that evening to find both his wife and their daughter gone, though Yulia had decided to leave a letter explaining where they had gone and why so that her husband wouldn't completely panic. So, Zhenya spent the first year (plus a couple months) of her life raised by her mother and her Aunt Taisiya in America. During that time, Yulia and Daniil divorced and Yulia changed her name back to her maiden name, Starkova; she changed her daughter's from Kazakova to Starkova as well. She moved with Zhenya to Edinburgh, Scotland, a few months after the divorce was finalized, in order to have more space from Daniil. Yulia gained Scottish citizenship six years later, as did Evgenia.
Evgenia's mother, an avid sportswoman, started introducing her to various sports, and playing them recreationally along with her, at a young age. Evgenia was three when she started playing football [aka American soccer] and hockey, four when Yulia introduced her to ballet and rugby, and five when figure skating joined the list. Other sports followed over the next couple years, but what truly stuck was figure skating. Zhenya was indifferent to football, despised rugby and volleyball, and preferred not to swim - but ballet and hockey had captured her attention from the very first day. "There's something missing," she had complained to her mother after her second day of ballet class. "Just like hockey." A few months later, Yulia took her daughter's feedback - she loved being on skates and loved ballet's emotion and artistry - and hit on figure skating. Zhenya was obsessed from the start, and skating became her main focus as Yulia placed her in learn-to-skate lessons and eventually found a private coach. When she went to visit her father in Russia for the first time at the age of seven, Zhenya packed her skates and guards, training clothes, and water bottle and demanded Daniil take her to the nearest rink. He preferred to drill her in multiplication tables and the Russian language, but even he - a primary school physical education teacher and former hockey coach - had to admit that watching his daughter skate was a true treat.
When Zhenya was nine, Daniil moved to England to be closer to her. Yulia wasn't pleased at that, nor his request for another visit, but Evgenia decided she wanted to see her father again and agreed to travel to stay with him for two months. During her stay Daniil met a Russian-English woman, Susanna, at the rink with Zhenya; Susanna gave Zhenya pointers on her Ina Bauer that she had picked up from watching her nephew skate and introduced Zhenya to said nephew. After Zhenya returned home to Scotland she received a letter from her father and one from Susanna, establishing two long-distance pen pals. Shortly before receiving her Hogwarts letter around two years later, she went back to England for a couple of weeks to attend her father's wedding to Susanna. She continued to skate in domestic competitions, aiming for a place on the British junior international team when she turned thirteen, but at eleven years old received her Hogwarts letter. This has completely derailed Zhenya's intended skating career, though she is absolutely determined to find a way to train year-round . . . even if she has to do it by herself, sneak around, break rules, and overcome countless unforeseen obstacles in order to do so. Figure skating is what she loves most. So what if she's something called a "Muggle-born witch"? Surely "Muggle-born witches" can manage such a feat.

First Instance of Magic:

Evgenia was six years old when she produced her first instance of magic - though nobody else witnessed it, and she had no idea what it was (or even that she had actually done it herself). She was skating alone, and the rink was pretty quiet that particular day. In one corner there seemed to be a fairly rough patch, over which Evgenia kept falling. In anger and annoyance, she stomped her little bladed foot on the ice, providing herself a brief outlet for her frustration. But the next time she skated over that corner, she didn't fall! Almost half of the rough patch had seemed to smooth out, though Zhenya, pleasantly surprised at her success, just attributed it to coincidence, luck, or her own failure to gauge its true size.

As a little kid her parents moved to London from Scotland, because they hoped for better work conditions and always liked England, especially London and it's monuments. She grew up with a big brother that wanted to become an auror. Her brother was her one and only friend, because of her shyness she had problems to find other friends. She grew up as a normal kid in a wizard family, everywhere was magic. It was used in their household to wash the dishes or repair broken things. Quite early she was taught the history of magic and some of the most famous wizards.
Her parents are aurors and often busy working for the Ministry. But when they were home they would spend their time with their kids and go on walks trough the safe forest near their house or play some games.
One time she ran away from home because she felt like a burden to her big brother. Normally she wouldn't think such things, but this time was different. When her brother has come home from a trip with his friends, he was a bit annoyed and told her that she sucks and should go and leave him alone.
In the forest, near the house, she found a friend, a little cat. As the day passed by, she didn’t found a way out, till her brother came.
He talked to her and explained her everything. That he was annoyed because of something mean his friend said about a girl he liked. After this everything was okay between her and her brother.
Since the day the little cat, she found, followed her everywhere she goes. But her parents didn't allow her to travel with the cat, so she had to leave it home.
First Instance of Magic:
Accidentally set their roses in the garden on fire, while having an argument with her mother, about an owl she found and wanted to keep it. Her mother didn't want that at all, because in her opinion her daughter should find human friends.
At that time Yue was 5 years old and had trouble to control her feelings. After that accident she felt horrible and apologized to her parents while crying.
Her parents helped her after this accident to control her feelings, to avoid such accidents from happening.
