In addition to Colin's advice 😂 The Fall Ball (and Spring Ball when it rolls around) is simply a public roleplay event where many characters gather to just have a good time. Or awful time depending on certain factors. Usually there are mini activities going on that you can have your character visit and participate in while the main ball areas are active. There are also moderated summaries that are done to do any combat rolls, or just summarize the event so readers don't get lost in the hubbub. More information will likely come out later on, but that is the general gist of those types of events.

Edit: It's one of those things that you play by ear, but don't sweat it too much, it's more straightforward than you probably think. It can be a little overwhelming if you're participating for the first time, but it's loads of fun. Definitely recommend giving it a chance.
